Steven Hooper
Funeral services for Steven R. Hooper, 59. Maple Grove, took place March 28 at Hopkins United Methodist Church. Rev. Patrick McNalley officiated.
Hooper died March 25, 2003. He was born Oct. 8, 1943 in Minneapolis to Gilbert and Ruth (Armstrong) Hooper and was territorial manager for Keebler Company.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Robin Hooper of Minneapolis, Anthony Hooper of Maple Grove, Timothy (Stacey) Nelson of Plymouth, Carrie (Keith) McKellips of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Dalton and Nicholas McKellips and Brady and Abigail Nelson; mother, Ruth Hooper of Hopkins; brothers, Harry (Marty) Hooper of Brainerd, Dale (Judith) Hooper of Lakeville; sister, Barbara (John) McCashin of Minnetonka; nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Jan) Bruinooge of Maple Grove and Stephen Zemke of Blaine.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Hooper.

Marie Johnson
Funeral services for Marie T. Johnson, 84, Cedar, took place March 31 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Johnson died March 25, 2003 at Anoka Care Center. She was born Sept. 4, 1918 in Minneapolis and was a member of the Cambridge and St. Paul kennel clubs.
She is survived by her husband, Walter; sister, Clara Ellison (Richard); brother-in-law, Russel Johnson and wife; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Daniel, Andrew and Benjamin Stewart and Dave Ellison.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
Doris Marquardt
Funeral services for Doris Marquardt, 64, Coon Rapids, took place March 18 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Patrick Kennedy officiated.
Marquardt died March 13, 2003 in Spring Lake Park. She was born Oct. 21, 1938 in Shelby, Mont.
She is survived by her children, Roberta Zimmerman (Richard), Charles Marquardt (Deb Kaiser), Rebecca Wollin (Richard), Renee Marquardt; grandchildren, Katie Zimmerman, Elainia Snaza, Ashley Silverthorne, Michael and Samantha Wollin; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Brigmon; and sisters, Mary Ellen, Judy, Virginia and patty Jo.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
David Mathena
Funeral services for David Charles Mathena, 64, Coon Rapids, took place April 1 at Church of St. Timothy, Blaine. Rev. Harry Tasto officiated.
Mathena died March 26, 2003 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Home. He was born Jan. 18, 1939 in Minneapolis to Melvin A. Mathena and Dorothy F. Moos and was an insurance agent for State Farm Insurance Co. and a U.S., Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Carole; sons, Steven (Jennifer McCormack), Brian (Melissa); granddaughters, Audrey and Holiday; siblings, Earl (Regina), Lucille (Harvey) Dahlheimer, Marie Lutgen, William (JoAnne), Ruth (Richard) Windholtz, Kathleen (Robert) Clemensen; special cousin, Trudy Dachins; and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Dorothy Mathena.
Pallbearers were Stephen. Robert and Richard Helriegel, Steven Mathena, Erik Johnson and Edward Stanke.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel.
LeRoy Mueller
Funeral services for LeRoy B. Mueller, 79, Andover, took place March 20 at House of Mercy, St. Paul. Revs. Stenberg and Schultz officiated.
Mueller died March 16, 2003 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Oct. 13, 1923 in Cherokee, Iowa, and was an accountant.
He is survived by his daughter, Gail (Michael) Mueller-Schultz; and brothers, Raymond and Otto.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey; and brother, Emil.
Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Irene Sanderson
Funeral services for Irene Ruth McDonald Sanderson, 87, Montgomery, Ill., formerly of Burns Township and Anoka, took place April 2 at Conley Funeral Home, Elburn, Ill. Rev. Jodeen Immer officiated.
Sanderson died March 28, 2003. She was born Aug. 21, 1915 in Burns Township to Walter and Ruth (Burquest) McDonald and graduated from Anoka High School. She worked at Swanson's Restaurant and Frisch's Department Store in Anoka before moving to the Sugar Grove, Ill., area in 1948.
She is survived by her husband, Roland; children, Phyllis A. (Rex)Wolf of Maple Park Ill., Joyce S. (Joseph) Matalone of Geneva, Ill., Shirley R. (Donald) Hinds of Batavia, Ill., and Sharon 'Sandi' M. Sanderson of Aurora, Ill; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Lisa A. Landes of Oswego, Ill., and her son Daniel E., Daniel R. Wolf of Sugar Grove, Ill., Lynda K. (Tim) Fillip of Carol Stream, Ill., and their children Timothy, Kaelyn, Andrew and Tyler, Denise M. (Larry) Secor of Plano, Ill., and their children, Haley, Sophey and Joseph; Joseph Matalone and Michelle Matalone both of Chicago, Ill., Jeffrey L. (Susan) Hinds of Sugar Grove, Ill., and their daughters Rachael E. and Kirstin N, Jennifer I. Hinds of Montgomery, Ill., and Janell M. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ruth; sister, Laverne McDonald, and Francis Crapser; brother, William McDonald; and great-grandson, Joseph Daniel Wolf.

Michael Vavrina
Funeral services for Michael D. Vavrina, 20, Ham Lake, took place March 31 at Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home. Rev. Bernard Reiser officiated.
Vavrina died March 25, 2003 in Cambridge. He was born June 10, 1982 in Fridley to Richard D. Vavrina and Patricia S. Allenson, and was a residential painter.
He is survived by his son, Brandon Michael; mother, Patricia (Troy); father, Richard (Nancy); brothers, Christopher and Matthew; grandparents, Carolyn Allenson and Otto Allenson, Bonnie and Roger Vavrina; stepbrothers, Corey, Daniel, and Matthew; stepsister, Kendra; and many other family members.
Pallbearers were Michael Allenson, Jesse Dirscks, Chad Erickson, Nick Reickson, Todd Schroeder and Trevor Vavrina.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Gary Arndt
Funeral services for Gary A. Arndt, 55, Coon Rapids, took place April 8 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Kenneth A. Rice officiated.
Arndt died April 3, 2003. He was born April 25, 1947 in Blue Earth to Clarence G. and Blanche E. (Fallert) Arndt and was an assembler for United Defense.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughters, Lana Anderson and husband Terry, Bobbi LaTuff and husband Mark; grandchildren, Jessica, Tyler and Whitney; sisters, Marlene Isenberg and Janice Philipp; brothers, Weldon, Mick, Jerald and Dale; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence 'CJ' and Blanche Arndt.
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Lloyd Burnett
Funeral services for Lloyd W. Burnett, 75, Coon Rapids, took place April 11 at Bridgewood Community Church, Blaine. Rev. Thomas Stuart officiated.
Burnett died April 6, 2003 at Park River Estates Care Center, Coon Rapids. He was born June 28, 1927 in Minneapolis Warren P. and Opal I (Hays) Burnett. He was a Marine Corps veteran from World War II and a retired truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Todd Burnett of Bloomington, Mark Gower of Zimmerman; daughters, Paula (Jim) Driessen of Andover, Christine (Bill) Guptill of Wisconsin, Stephanie (Gary) Haugan of Detroit Lakes, Ann (Michael) Reynolds of Rhode Island; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Marge (Bill) Larson of Brooklyn Center; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Alan Gower; and parents, Warren and Opal Burnett.
Pallbearers were Todd Burnett, Bill Guptill, Mark Gower, Gary Haugan, Jim Driessen and Michael Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Biegle, Delton Peterson and Bill Larson.

Zana Clark
Funeral services for Zana F. Clark, 81, Anoka, took place April 16 at Holy Assumption Catholic Church, Superior, Wis.
Clark died April 11, 2003 in Anoka. She was born Aug. 28, 1921 in Bruce, Wis., to Joseph and LeoCaddie LeBlanc, and was a retired kitchen aide.
She is survived by her children, Pat (Bob) Ghyselinck, Sue (John) Leggate, Butch (Pam) Clark, Shari (Rich) Herubin, Tammy (Mike) Hennessy, Terry (Jim) Peterson and Scott (Lori) Clark; grandchildren, Crysi (Bobby) Johnson, Rob Ghyselinck, Theresa Leggate, Zayanne (Mark) Held, Chad and Troy Clark, Rick and Renee Raymond, Nathan and Kaley Hennessy, Jenelle (Larry), and Laura Peterson; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Barbara Bottom.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Clark.
Pallbearers were Bobby Johnson, Rob Ghyselinck, Mark and Brandon Held, Stephen Leggate, Chad and Troy Clark, Rick and Renee Raymond, and Nathan Hennessy.
Interment was at Calvary cemetery, Superior, Wis. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Ruby French
Funeral services for Ruby L. French, 74, Anoka, took place April 7 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Brenda L. Kramer King officiated.
French died April 3, 2003 at Valley Hospital at Hidden Lake, Golden Valley. She was born May 24, 1928 in Wadena to Victor D. and Julia M. (Olson) Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Dale; children, Julia, Thomas (Cheryl), Mark (Sandy); seven grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Mochinski, Gloria (Larry) Erickson; brothers, Wayne (Marlene) Johnson and Lee Johnson; and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Mark, Thomas, Thomas Jr., Joseph and Nicholas French, and Lee Johnson.
