Girlie Basham
Funeral services for Girlie Nedra Basham, 66, Blaine, took place April 23 at Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Blaine Chapel. Rev. Will Sappington officiated.
Basham died April 19, 2003 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Oct. 8, 1936 in Dawson to Oscar Birdeen Nelson and Pearl Charlotte Olson.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Basham; siblings, Nick (Darlene) Nelson, Sue (Gary) Krasean, Bonnie Kellen; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; sister, Joyce Nelson; and parents Oscar and Pearl Nelson.
Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Blaine Chapel.
David Bell
Funeral services for David W. Bell, 67, Blaine, took place April 17 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Family members officiated.
Bell died April 15, 2003 at Lake Ridge Care Center, Roseville. He was born May 20, 1935 in Minneapolis to Wayne M, . Bell and Doris R. McCluskey and was a truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; daughter, Jodi (Mark) Shape; son, Michael (Dianna); grandchildren, Angie and Joe Shape, Brittani and Jordon Bell; and sister, Bobbie (Wayne) Mann.
Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Harold Carlson
Funeral services for Harold L. Carlson, 80, Anoka, took place April 21 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Robert Loftus officiated.
Carlson died April 17, 2003 at Anoka Care Center. He was born Feb. 14, 1923 in St. Paul to Ole and Anna (Hymes) Carlson.
He is survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene.
Pallbearers were family members.
Interment was at Grey Cloud cemetery, Great Cloud Township. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Michael Croteau
Funeral services for Dr. Michael I. Croteau, 32, Blaine, took place April 22 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Al Goracke officiated.
Croteau died April 17, 2003 at his home. He was born Sept. 11, 1970 in Minneapolis to Ronald B. Croteau and Ginger M. Fox. He was a chiropractor at Bally Total Fitness and a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his daughter, Emma 'PeeWee;' mother, Ginger Bullock (Jim); father, Ron Croteau (Lori Mevissen); grandmother, Inez Fox; sister, Angela Croteau; nephew, Austin; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Herbert Gunther
Memorial services for Herbert Edward Gunther, 92, Sun City, Ariz., formerly of Coon Rapids, will take place Sunday, April 27, 7 p.m., at Cross of Hope Lutheran Church, Ramsey.
Gunther died April 17, 2003 at North Memorial Medical Center, Robbinsdale. He was a founding member of the Coon Rapids Fire Department 50 years ago and active in the Coon Rapids Lions Club.
He is survived by his son, William Gunther and wife Cindy of New Hope; daughter, Myrlette Giddings and husband Richard of Ramsey; grandchildren, Charles (Lisa), Timothy (Michelle), Cindy, (Jim), Sarah, Michael, Thomas and Paul; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle.
Ruth Kerns
Funeral services for Ruth Alice Kerns, 89, Andover, took place April 16 at First Congregational Church, Superior, Wis. Revs. Christopher C. and Sharon James Fazel officiated.
Kerns died April 12, 2003 in Coon Rapids. She was born July 4, 1913 in Excelsior to Charles Harvey and Sada Lewis and was a retired clerk for the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Richard Walter; sons and daughter-in-law, William and Marva Kerns; grandchildren, Jay Kerns, Mindee Kerns, Beth Walter Bernet, Stephen Walter, Michael Walter, Kathleen Walter Geist; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Kerns; and grandsons, James Walter and Michael Kerns.
Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were Gearhart.
Jane Kreger
Funeral services for Jane E. Kreger (nee Meyer), 80, Elk River, took place April 18 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Nowthen.
Kreger died April 16, 2003 at her home. She was born Sept. 15, 1922 in Lidgerwood, N.D., to Charles and Florence (Anderson) Meyer. She graduated from Anoka High School in 1940 and worked at Federal Cartridge in Anoka for 21 years until she retired.
She is survived by her sons, Robert, Kevin (Sheila) Donald, Joel (Kathy) and Steven; grandchildren, Seth (Molly), Sara, Laura, Michael, Nicholas, Rachel, Zachary, Joshua, Casandra; great-granddaughter, Abigail Jane; brother, Leslie (Joyce) Meyer; sisters, Beulah Kreger and Susan (Fred) Zurn; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; and brother, Bruce Meyer.
Interment was at St. John's Parish cemetery. Arrangements were by Dare's Funeral Home, Elk River.
Dianne Maag
Funeral services for Dianne L. Maag, 66, Andover, took place April 16 at Epiphany Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Bernard Reiser officiated.
Maag died April 11, 2003 at her home. She was born Oct. 8, 1936 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and was a 25-year employee at the former Red Owl Country Store in Coon Rapids.
She is survived by her children, Mike (Terri), Michele LaRue (Eric), Melissa Nystrom (Dana); grandchildren, Chris, Jamie, and Jessica Maag, Nick Voss, Josiah, Isaiah, Isaac and Micah LaRue; Kory Nystrom; two brothers; and two sisters.
Pallbearers were Christopher and Duane Maag, Nick Voss, Dana Nystrom, Eric LaRue, and Mark Winczeeki.
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy, Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Richard Hamilton Sr.
Funeral services for Richard D. 'Dick' Hamilton Sr., 58, Elk River, took place April 22 at First Baptist Church of Anoka. Rev. Abe Cardosa officiated.
Hamilton died April 16, 2003 in Anoka. He was born Sept. 24, 1944 in Anoka to Harold C. and Ruth (Peterson) Hamilton and was employed at Federal Cartridge in Anoka.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; children, Rick Jr. (Tracy), Kenneth (Roberta), Geraldine; stepchildren, Rocky Allen, Dawn Marie, David, Tony and Robin; 17 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; mother, Bernice Hamilton; sisters, Betty (Philip) Klint, Linda M. Hamilton; brother, Gary (Linda G.) Hamilton; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ruth Hamilton.
Pallbearers were Randy Mohs, Bill Lund, Tony Kendrick, Philip Klint, Bruce Edstadt and Tracy Steel.
Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Madaline Olson
Funeral services for Madaline V. Olson, 62, Ramsey, took place April 18 at Faith Lutheran Church. Rev. Bill Larson officiated.
Olson died April 13, 2003 in Ramsey. She was born March 31, 1941 in Henderson, Ky., and was a para-professional.
She is survived by her children, Kimberly, Keith (Renee), Kevin (Pam) and Kraig; grandchildren, Emily, Isiah, Sarah and Noah; mother, Christine Adams; one brother; and one sister.
She was preceded in death by her husband, DeWayne.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
David Peck
Funeral services for David H. Peck, 48, Grand Meadow, took place April 19 at United Church of Grand Meadow. Rev. Greg Strunk officiated.
Peck died April 5, 2003 at his home. He was born Oct. 4, 1954 in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Roger and Nancy (Hubbard) Peck, and was a certified public accountant.
He is survived by his son, Isaac of Coon Rapids; daughters, Kierstan and Madeline, both of Coon Rapids; parents, Roger and Nancy of Grand Meadow; sister, Tracy (Mark) Jacobson of Grand Meadow; and brothers, Thomas (Julie) Peck of Grand Meadow and Kelly Peck of Montevideo.
Interment was at Grand Meadow cemetery. Arrangements were by Hindt Hutchins Funeral Home, Grand Meadow.
