Funeral services for Lois Margaret Aubin, 82, Isanti, formerly of East Bethel, took place May 14 at the Strike Funeral Home-Isanti Chapel. Rev. Steve Melander officiated.
Aubin died May 10, 2003 at Cambridge Medical Center. She was born July 4, 1920 in Duluth to Fredrick and Emily Fechner. She had worked as a cashier at Coopers Corner Amoco store.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard of Duluth; children, Terry (Rachael) Kaitala of Prescott, Wis., Larry (Fran) Kaitala of Bloomington, Jerome (Linda) Fiebelkorn of Alexandria, Bonnie (Rich) Lingren of Glendive, Mont., Kathy Phillingness of Easton, Pa., Doug Schrotsky of Prior Lake; Pamela (Peter) Fallang of Floodwood, Peggy (Rick) Krostag of Blaine, Clifford (Lorna) Vieau of Superior, Wis., Dennis (Mary Jo) Aubin of Duluth; Marie (Brian) Leonard of Duluth; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Clifford (Dee) Fechner of Bloomington and Jim (Marilyn) Fechner of Des Moines, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.

Leona Beamer
Funeral services for Leona Jeanette Beamer, 82, Fridley, took place May 10 at Emmanuel Christian Center, Spring Lake Park. Rev. Mark Denyes officiated.
Beamer died May 4, 2003 at her home. She was born July 8, 1920 in Princeton to Barney and Cecelia Strombeck. She was employed by Target for more than 20 years.
She is survived by her sons, Jeff and wife Carol Beamer of Coon Rapids and Randy Beamer of Fridley; daughter, Terri Swanson of Breezy Point; brothers, Wayne and wife Dorothy Strombeck of St. Louis Park; sisters, Lillian Bosell of New Brighton, Arlene and husband, Jim Rose of Anoka; grandchildren, Tanya and Branden Swanson and Tiffany Beamer; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Richard; sister, Violet Strombeck; and brother, Bud Strombeck.
Interment was at Stacy cemetery, Stacy. Arrangements wee by Strike Funeral Home - Isanti Chapel.
Kenneth Bouley
Funeral services for Kenneth William Bouley, 77, Anoka, formerly of Nowthen, took place May 12 at Methven-Taylor Funeral Home. Rev. Bill DeZiel officiated.
Bouley died May 9, 2003 at Anoka Care Center. He was born May 2, 1926 in Rogers to Theodore Bouley and Kate Greeninger and was retired from ADM Grain.
He is survived by his brothers, Phil (May) of Bradford, Jim (Arlene) of Monticello, Bernie of Minneapolis; nieces and a nephew; and stepdaughter, Beverly Chollett.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys; and parents, Ted and Kate Bouley.
Pallbearers were Lee, Dan, Andy and Bernie Bouley, Dennis Ihamaki and Bill Schultz.
Interment was at Linwood cemetery, Linwood Township. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka.
Ruth Bultman
Funeral services for Ruth Bultman, 79, Circle Pines, took place May 7 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Circle Pines. Rev. Charlie Brown officiated.
Bultman died April 30, 2003. She was born Jan. 10, 1924 in Kingsdale.
She is survived by her sons, Greg, Terry and David (Dianne); eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Don Forncrook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; and son, Douglas.
Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Lorraine Brewington
Funeral services for Lorraine D. Brewington, 75, Coon Rapids, took place May 7 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Brewington died May 5, 2003. She was born Sept. 29, 1927.
She is survived by her daughTer and son-in-law, Anita and Steve Gahlon of Andover; son, Jon Brewington of Anoka; daughter, Julie Sandwick of Ham Lake; grandchildren, Craig and Amy Gahlon, Carl and Sara Sandwick, and Zachary and Katie Brewington; sister and brother-in-law, Harriet and Olaf Tveitbakk; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Agnes Anderson; husband, Austin Earl Brewington; and twins, Bruce and Beverly.
Interment was at Epiphany cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Stephen Edmonds
Funeral services for Stephen E. Edmonds, 53, East Bethel, took place May 5 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Jeff Jacobus officiated.
Edmonds died May 2, 2003. He was born Sept. 4, 1949 and was a maintenance supervisor.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela; children, Carrie, Jason, Heather, Jeremy, Michele, Jessica, Nicholas, Matthew and David; grandchildren, Devon, Courtney, Joshua, Gavin, Taylor, Alexa; and sisters, Sherri and Denise.
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
Pauline Ekvall
Funeral services for Pauline Elizabeth Ekvall, 93, took place April 26 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, East Bethel. Rev. Brian Fragodt officiated.
Ekvall died April 23, 2003 at Green Acres Health Care Center, North Branch. She was born in Anoka May 5, 1908 and taught elementary school for many years at Cedar Elementary School. She was also East Bethel village treasurer and helped her husband farm in East Bethel for 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; parents, George and Louisa Wuest; and brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers were Kenneth, Barry and Glenn Ekvall, Russ Ingvaldsen and Jeff Lundberg.
Almeda Hodes
Graveside services for Almeda 'Jill' Gow Hodes, 77, Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Anoka, will take place at 11 a.m. tomorrow (Saturday, May 17) at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka.
Hodes died March 8, 2003 in Phoenix. She was born May 17, 1925 in Anoka and graduated from Anoka High School. Her first job was with the 'Anoka County Union.' She continued to work in the journalism and public relations fields in California and Arizona.
She is survived by her sons, Geoff (Pam) Hodes of California, David (Lynn) Hodes of California, Chris (Peg) Hodes of Arizona; daughter, Sandy (Bert) of Arizona; eight grandchildren; and brothers, Jack Gow.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth Gow; brother, David Gow; and sister, Jean James.
Interment will be at Forest Hill cemetery.
Jesse Huffman
Funeral services for Jesse J. Huffman, 40, Andover, took place May 12 at Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel. Chaplain Ronald Brovold officiated.
Huffman died May 8, 2003 at his residence. He was born May 27, 1962 in Minneapolis to James and Lois Ann Marie Baker. He was a welder.
He is survived by his fiancee Karen Schultz; children, Lisa, Shana, Steven; brothers, Russell Olene, Larry Olene, Ron Olene, Glen Olene; sisters, Wanda McCord, Cindy Soucy, Kim Michaud; stepson, Ryan (Dana) Schults; granddaughters, Anna and Eve; close friend, Jim Pariseau; and many other family and friends.
Pallbearers were Russell, Larry, Ron, Glen and Jesse Olene, and Ryan Schultz.
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel.
Edna Backlund
Funeral services for Edna Louise Backlund, 91, Oak Grove, took place May 21 at Nowthen Alliance Church.
Backlund died May 16, 2003 at the Augustana Health Care Center of Minneapolis. She was born Feb. 27, 1912 in Lake Eunice Township, Detroit Lakes, to Albert John Holstad and Annie Johnson. She was a retired pastry chef at Carl's Cafe in Anoka.
She is survived by her sons, Duane and Ronald of Minneapolis, Larry of Anoka; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Rodman of Coon Rapids; sister-in-law, Evy Halstad; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester G. Backlund; and brothers, Freddie and Al Holstad.
Interment was at Lake Eunice Free Church cemetery, Detroit Lakes. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Janice Bell
Funeral services for Janice C. Bell, 64, Blaine, took place May 19 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Liane S. Rock officiated.
Bell died May 16, 2003 at her home. She was born March 16, 1939 in Minneapolis to Clarence Wennberg and Lillian Thompson, and worked in food service at Burger King.
She is survived by her daughter, Jodi (Mark) Shape; son, Michael (Dianna); grandchildren, Angie and Joe Shape, Brittani and Jordon Bell; brothers, Jerry (Barb) Wennberg and Greg Wennberg; sisters, Kathy (John) Johnson; and special uncle, Paul Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David W. Bell.
Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Curtis Chamberlain
Funeral services for Curtis K. Chamberlain, 77, Anoka, took place May 18 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Dennis Heiden officiated.
Chamberlain died May 14, 2003 at his residence. He was born Oct. 27, 1925 in Anoka to Clarence E. and Irene M. (Curtis) Chamberlain and was a maintenance worker.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannine; children, Bert (Barb), Kay (James) Neutz, Sharon (Dana) Jessen; grandchildren, Richard, Kevin, and Dane; sister, Myrtle Daml; and brother, Donald (Terri).
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph and Lawrence.
Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
