Michael Hanson

Funeral services for Michael A. Hanson, San Diego, Calif., formerly of Coon Rapids, took place Aug. 1 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Joel Cycenas officiated.

Hanson died July 22, 2003 in California. He was born Jan. 21, 1980 in Coon Rapids to Mary and Doug Hanson.

He is survived by his mother, Mary; father, Doug (Rebekah) Hanson; brother, Tony; sisters, Cristina and Tiffany; grandparents, Jose and Zoila Lopez; and grandmother, Shirley Hanson.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jerry Hanson.

Pallbearers are by Jose, John, Len and Ray Lopez, Justin Schaefer, Mark Walsh, Nate Boise and Tony Hanson. Honorary pallbearers were Fabio and Ray Lopez and Brad Hanson.

Interment was at Epiphany Catholic cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home and Creation Services, Coon Rapids.

Maria Igo

Funeral services for Maria D. Igo, 76, Blaine, took place Aug. 1 at Geahart Funeral Home, Anoka.

Igo died July 28, 2003 in Blaine. She was born Jan. 1, 1927 in Ingelstadt, Germany, to Engelbert Kainzinger and Anna Maria Schwaerzer.

She is survived by her son, Gil (Rosi); daughter, Anna (Mike); grandchildren, Lacey, Chad, Derrek, Christopher and Samantha; niece, Heidi (Lester) Bell; sisters, Anni (Arthur) Bell, Rosi (Franz) Hinsdorf; brother, Engelbert (Lotti) Kainzinger; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey 'Mike.'

Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Gearhart.

Bruce Johnson

The funeral service for Bruce R. Johnson, 50, Andover, was scheduled Aug. 8, 11 am. at Elim Baptist Church, Anoka. Pastor Robert Brunko and Dr. Ronald Ekerholm were expected to officiate.

Johnson, who lived a happy and fulfillng life even though he was limited by Down's Syndrome, died Aug. 1, 2003 in his Andover home. He was born Sept. 27, 1952 in Anoka, where he previously resided.

Johnson loved church, his sheltered employment at RISE, music, art and good food. A man who had a wonderful sense of humor is survived by his sister Diane Nyquist (George), nephew Samuel Nyquist (Heidi) and their children Duke and Abigail and nephew Jonathan Nyquist.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Ruth Johnson.

Pallbearers were Samuel Nyquist, Joshua Ekerholm, Jonathan Nyquist, Britt Peterson, Jodi Hallberg, Adam Ekerholm and Kara Hviding.

Internment was at Dalbo Baptist cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Clarence Koltes

Funeral services for Clarence J. Koltes, 81, Coon Rapids, took place July 31 at the Church of the Epiphany. Rev. Joel Cycenas officiated.

Koltes was born April 11, 1922 and died July 28, 2003 in Coon Rapids. He was retired after 37 years with Northern States Power and was a lifetime member of the Crystal Knights of Columbus.

A man who served with the Coast Guard during World War II, Koltes was a member and the past commander of American Legion Post 345.

Koltes is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Adeline, children Jeanne lee (Jerry Haider), John (Shirley) Linda Neaton (Jim) Susan Hoffman, Steve (Kay), Chuck (Deb), Anna Gantner (Craig), 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Theresa, seven brothers and one sister, a son-in-law Eugene Lee and grandaugher Jennifer Lee.

Internment was at the Epiphany cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

James Mann

Funeral services for James H. Mann, 54, a Vietnam veteran, took place July 31 in Coon Rapids.

Mann, who died July 28, 2003 after a long illness, was preceded in death by his father John G. Mann and is survived by his daughter Becky (Duane) Shadix; dear son of Arlyne Mann, brothers Bob (Robin), Dave (Barb), sister Debbie (Mark) Ersfeld, granddaughter Madi, special friends Kristen and Desirae and many other relatives and friends.

Mann was an electrical design engineer with General Mills, where he designed packaging systems.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel in Coon Rapids

Bonnie Newton

Funeral services for Bonnie L. Newton, 47, Blaine, took place Aug. 5 at the Thurston-Lindberg Chapel. Rev. Will Peterson officiated.

Newton died Aug. 1, 2003 at Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids. She was born to Robert and Darleen Formanack Aug. 26, 1955 in St. Paul. She was married to Thomas Newton and taught (kindergarten) at the Coon Rapids Christian Academy. She was a member of the Coon Rapids Baptist Church.

She was survived by her husband Tom, children Marianne, Laura and David, parents Robert and Darleen Formanack, sisters Bernadette Rodgers, Becky Sandquist, brothers Robert, Bennett and Barry Formanack, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Adam Newton, Richard Newton, Dustin Formanack, Taylor Formanack, Danny Sandquist and David Sandquist.

Internment was at Forest Hill cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Florence Peterson

Funeral services for Florence M. Peterson, 90, Coon Rapids, took place Aug. 1 at the Church of the Epiphany. Rev. Bernard Reiser officiated.

Peterson, who was born Aug. 24, 1912, died in Coon Rapids July 29, 2003.

A former homemaker, Peterson was survived by daughter karen Vogel, sisters Elna Bryan and Anna Demars, brothers Adrian and Wilfred, grandchildren Beth Vogel, Kristen Stuckey (Randy), Scott Vogel (Kari), great grandchildren Andrea, Tristan, Bryce, Collin, Carli, Alyssa and Kyla and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Peterson was preceded in death by her husband Robert, an infant son, Robert, parents Stella and Joseph Barnier, sisters DeLvina Green, and Odell Millostan, brothers Richard, Clarence, Lester, Robert, Leo, Arthur and Gary.

Internment was at Calvary cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Robert Sutliff

Funeral services for Robert Mel Sutliff, 4, Linwood Township, took place Aug. 1 at Linwood Covenant Church, Linwood.

He died July 27, 2003.

He is survived by his parents, Gerald and Valinda; brother, Jeremy; grandparents, Melvin and Alberta Salo, Homer and Gladys Sutliff and George and Jean Crawford; great-grandparents, Wanetta Walberg and Ellen Sutliff; godparents, Curt and Tammy Salo; many aunts, an uncles, great aunts and uncles; and numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.

Interment was at Linwood cemetery. Arrangements were by Mattson Funeral Home.

Beverlee Wood

Funeral services for Beverlee A. Wood, 74, Brooklyn Park (formerly of Anoka), took place Aug. 4, 2003 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Norman Berg officiated.

Wood was born Aug. 19, 1928 in Montevideo, Minn. and died July 30 at the Shalom Home/West in St. Louis Park. She was married to Milo E. Wood and served as a music teacher at Springfield Public School, then at St. Stephen's School in Anoka.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, the Eastern Star, and the Women's Christian Association.

A gifted pianist and organist, Wood is survived by children Jennifer (Dennis) Leslie, Susan Wood (Joyce Kenny), George(Cindy) Wood, Bill Wood (Mark Asman), grandchildren Christopher and Elizabeth Leslie, Sam, Joe and Ellie Wood, sister Patricia Booth, sisters-in-law Arleen Wood and Avis Berlin and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Milo and her parents, Cornelius and Frances Olson.

Internment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Lois Zeik

Funeral services for Lois J. Zeik, 76, Anoka, took place Aug. 6, 2003 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Zeik was born Oct. 8, 1926 in Logan County, Colo. and died recently in Anoka. The former bookkeepr was preceded in death by her husband Robert and is survived by son Robert S. (Kathryn), daughter Cynthia (Craig) Johnson, grandchildren Nicholas, Br, Matthew, L.C., Sarah, robert, Michael, Maria Lucia, Anna, Rachel, Melissa, Angela, Richard and Andrew and seven great grandchildren.

Internment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart.

Harvey Halverson

Funeral services for Harvey W. Halverson, 74, Burns Township, will take place during a private ceremony at date to be determined.

Halverson died of natural causes Aug. 4, 2003. he was born April 17, 1929 in Hallock, the son of Adolph and Ellen Halverson and later married Eleanor Heim. The retired dairy truck driver was a veteran of the Korean War and is survived by his wife Eleanor, sons Matt (Sharon) Halverson of Frederic, Wis. and Lane (Krista) Halverson of Superior, sister Marilyn (Dave) Wilson, brother John (Yvonne) Halverson, grandchildren Megan, Paige, Kaiylee, Sabrie, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Merle, Dale and Bob Halverson.

Aggrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral home, Anoka Chapel.
