Corey Chase

Funeral services for Corey Everett Chase, 20, Coon Rapids, took place Oct. 1 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Joel Cycenas officiated.

Chase died Sept. 26, 2003 in Anoka. He was born March 6, 1983 in St. Cloud to Walter and Elizabeth Chase, and was employed in retail sales.

He is survived by his parents, Wally and Beth; daughter, Taylor Waggoner; sister, Brianna; brother, Sam; grandparents, Walter and Nadine Chase and Donald and Barbara Wiele; and many aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers were John Chase, Pat Wiele, Peter and Andy Thul, Rob Erickson and Ross Skowronek.

Interment was at Lakeview cemetery, Bena. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Essie Hansen

Funeral services for Essie W. Rosin Hansen, 91, Anoka, took place Sept. 29 at Anoka Wesleyan Church, Rev. Doug Swarthout officiated.

Hansen died at her home Sept. 24, 2003. She was born Dec. 12, 1911 in Fallon, Mont., to William N. and Rose E. (Shepard) Howard.

She is survived by her children, Donavan (Kathleen) Rosin and Arlene (Gordon) DeSaveur, all of Montana, Roger (Valorie) Rosin of Alaska, Carolyn (Ralph) Hunt of Ramsey, Oren (Linda) Rosin of Montana, David (Lori) Rosin of North Carolina, Thomas (Linda) Rosin of Alaska, Darrel (Rachel) Rosin of Montana; 37 grandchildren; more than 60 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Bob (Ingeborg) Howard of Montana.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Adolph Rosin and I.A. Hansen; son, Orvil Rosin; parents, Will and Rose Howard; and brothers, Alvin, Dan, Lester, Dub and Ben Howard.

Pallbearers were her grandchildren.

Interment was at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Billings, Mont. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Ethel Hawes

Funeral services for Ethel M. Hawes, 66, Ramsey, took place Oct. 2 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Adrian Piotrowski officiated.

Hawes died Sept. 28, 2003 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Sept. 9, 1937 to Earl and Hildegard Smith.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry; son, Charles (Barbara) Hawes of Robbinsdale; daughters, Susan (Paul) Olson of Rockford, Jean Kuschel of Crystal, Diane (Russell) Reynolds of Ramsey; Marlene (Mike) Rolf of Norwood; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren on the way; brother, Ronald (Sandy) Smith of Crystal; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Hildegard Smith.

Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Roger Lais

Funeral services for Roger L. Lais, 57, Ham Lake, took place Sept. 29 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Jose Puthenparambil officiated.

Lais died Sept. 24, 2003 at Twin Rivers Care Center, Anoka. He was born May 21, 1946 in Grand Forks, N.D., to Aloysious and Gilberta (Smart) Lais, and was a drywall specialist in construction.

He is survived by his brothers, Raymond (Beverly) Lais of Eugene, Ore., Ronald (Carol) Lais of Ham Lake, David Lais of Mesa, Ariz.; sisters, Lois Kosmatka of Minot, N.D., Rita (Victor) Sondreson of Tukwila, Wash.; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Richard Lais,

Burial was private in Washington State. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Donald Manthey

Services for Donald R. Manthey, 68, Isanti, formerly of Ham Lake, took place Sept. 26 at Cambridge American Legion Club.

Manthey died Sept. 20, 2003 in Robbinsdale. He was born in Superior, Wis., June 26, 1935 to Ethel and Carl Manthey Sr., and grew up on the family farm in Circle Pines. He served in U.S. Navy and retired from working on the Alaskan Pipeline in 1985. He was a member of the Zuhrah Shrine, Disabled American Veterans - Anoka County, National Society of the Sons of the American Legion, American Legion and the Arcana Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyne; children, Raymond (Dawn) of Ham Lake, Sherri (David Van Horn) of Ham Lake, and Michael (Paulette) of Isanti; granddaughters, Heather Van Horn of Hopkins, Amy Van Horn of Ham Lake, Gwen Van Horn of Anoka, Crystal Manthey of Arden Hills and Leah Manthey of St. Francis; great-granddaughter, Sabrina Van Horn-Hendrickson of Hopkins; and godchildren, Derek Thompson of Zimmerman and Michelle Dehning of Aitkin.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Strike Funeral Home - Isanti Chapel.

Bridgette Shannon

Funeral services for Bridgette Marie Shannon, 17, Ramsey, took place Oct. 1 at Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel. Rev. Liane Rock officiated.

Shannon died Sept. 26, 2003 in Anoka. She was born Nov. 25, 1985 to David and Denise Shannon, and was a student at Anoka High School.

She is survived by her parents, David and Denise; brother, Brandon; grandparents; aunts, uncles and cousins; and other family members and many friends.

Pallbearers were Scott Pawley, Tom Chesness, Ron Cerwinske and Zein Eshmawy.

Interment was at Forest Hill cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel.

Shirley Steinke

Funeral services for Shirley A. Steinke, 64, Menagha, take place today (Friday, Oct. 3), 11 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church, Zimmerman.

Steinke died Sept. 28, 2003 to Nick and Caroline Hentges.

She is survived by her husband, LeRoy; children, Bruce (Darla), Yvonne Artmann, Scott (Lori), Jacquelyn Steinke, Todd (Donna); grandchildren, Misty, Desirae, Nathan, Justin, Amber, Andrew, Angela, Jeremy, Brandon, Crystal and Jesse; four great-grandchildren; brother, Bernie (Rita), Eldon (Anne), Warren (Francis), and Ron (Joan) Hentges; and many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Harold and Howard Hentges.

Interment was at Lakeview cemetery, Nowthen. Arrangements were by Dare's Funeral Service, Elk River.

Edgar Stephens

Funeral services for Edgar Haga Stephens, 72, Coon Rapids, took place Sept. 26 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka., Rev. Bill Deziel officiated.

Stephens died Sept. 23, 2003 at his home. He was born Nov. 12, 1930 in Minneapolis, served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-55, and worked for Pyrofax Gas Co., Standard Oil Co., various insurance companies and the Honeywell security department.

He is survived by his wife, Zoe Ann (Lust) Stephens; children, spouses and grandchildren, Julie and Kevin Ward with Erin, Ryan and Megan of Anoka, Jeff and Cara Stephens with Joshua and Matthew of Maple Grove, Bill and Justine Stephens with Dennis, Rachel, Kate and Ben of Buffalo, Mary Larson with Stephen of Blaine, Dan and Maria Stephens with Stephanie and Austin of Ramsey, and John Stephens of Coon Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant daughter, Julianna.

Pallbearers were Gerald Rosencrantz, Virgil Metzger, Howard Grindy, Stanley Kolodjeski, Ronald Rusnak and Paul Zabee. Honorary pallbearers were James Arone, Robert Munden, John Sundby, Robert Gunderson, Kermit Rodewald and Roger Hansen.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Dolly Allen

Funeral services for Dolly J. Allen, 78, Andover, took place Oct. 6 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Capt. Jennifer Woodard officiated.

Allen died Oct. 2, 2003 at North Residence Hospice in Brooklyn Center. She was born in Grand Forks, N.D., to Alexander Hooker and Luelle M. Spicer.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Dennis) Morley and Carol Durant; sons, Tim Allen, Gerald and Kenny Thompson; grandchildren, Cherise (Andy) Rohlfing, John Durant, Jessica and Tiffani Allen, Candy (Kevin) Cragun, Troy (Lenita) and Nick Thompson; and great-grandchildren, Daniel and Eric Rohlfing, Kyler, Cameron and Mercedes Cragun and Trey and Justin Thompson.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Clara Arvidson

Private services for Clara G. Arvidson, 93, Coon Rapids, formerly of Minneapolis, will take place Monday, Oct. 20 at Lakewood cemetery, Minneapolis.

Arvidson died Oct. 2, 2003 at Richard and Carol Rundle's Foster Care for the Elderly, Anoka. She was born March 2, 1910 in Joliette, N.D., to Henry K. and Sarah J. (Teasdale) Genfe.

She is survived by her children, Terry H. (Marilyn) Arvidson, Mary J. (Cleve) Thrasher, Michael G. (Carol) Arvidson, and Judith S. Berg; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in Lakewood cemetery, Minneapolis. Arrangements are by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Florence Bahr

Funeral services for Florence Bahr, 93, Anoka, took place Oct. 3 at Elim Baptist Church, Anoka. Rev. Robert E. Brunko officiated.

Bahr died Sept. 30, 2003 at Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River. She was born Feb. 26, 1910 in Champlin to Warren and Lottie (Earl) Swartout and was a retired clerical worker at Anoka Electric.

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley (Bud) Milner of Arizona, Patricia (Marvin) Bach of Wheaton; son, Irv (Carol) Bahr of Hudson, Wis, , formerly of Coon Rapids; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; brother, Clifford Swartout; and sisters, Dorothy Bebeau and Margaret Anderson.

Interment was at Champlin cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
