John Adams
Funeral services for John Adams, 71, Anoka, took place Oct. 7 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Mike Van Sloun officiated.
Adams died Oct. 3, 2003 at Mercy Hospital. He was born July 24, 1932 in Faribault to Ernest H. Adams and Marie Backen and was a podiatrist.
He is survived by his wife, Colleen; sons, Greg (Colette), John (Julie); daughters, Maureen (Scott) Kangas, Erin (Kevin) Streadland; 13 grandchildren; brother, Ernie (Patsy); sister, Caroline (George) Studdard; and many friends and close relatives.
H was preceded in death by his children, Micheal and Amy.
Interment was at Calvary cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
LeRoy Bjergo
Funeral services for LeRoy L. Bjergo, 65, Blaine, took place Oct. 14 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Jose Puthenparambil officiated.
Bjergo died Oct. 10, 2003 at Birchwood Health Care Center, Forest Lake. He was born April 7, 1938 in Minneapolis to Leo F. and Alice M. (Blaha) Bjergo.
He is survived by his wife, Marlys; sons, Wade (Annette) Bjergo of Andover, Bart (Ramie Walbridge) Bjergo of Forest Lake; daughters, Desiree (Rick Nelson) Klostermeier of Caledonia, Suzette Younggren of Blaine, Rochelle Bjergo of Blaine; 10 grandchildren; great-granddaughter, Alaina Jane Walbridge; mother, Alice Bjergo of Cambridge; brothers, Dan Bjergo of Hill City, Joe Bjergo of Colorado; sisters, Mary Young of Isanti, Gloria Wolf of Shakopee; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ralph; and father, Leo.
Pallbearers were Wade, Bart and Matt Bjergo, Ben Nelson, Derek Younggren, and Braun Woods.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Elsie Chicoine
Funeral services for Elsie D. Chicoine (nee Pouliot), 85, Ramsey, took place Oct. 13 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Bill Deziel officiated.
Chicoine died Oct. 10, 2003 at Mercy Hospital. She was born July 19, 1918 in Loretto to Roman Pouliot and Alma Pepin.
She is survived by her children, Norman (Vicky), PaulaJean Chicoine, Loren (Teresa) and Adrian; grandchildren, Christopher and Andrea Chicoine, Maren Chicoine; and sisters, Bernice Moonen, Lorraine Charles and Dorothy Schraut.
She was preceded in death by her son, Armand.
Pallbearers were Christopher Chicoine, Gilbert Moonen, Duane and Dale Schraut, Melvin Klaers, and Robert Muckenhirn.
Interment was at Calvary cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
George Goodrich
George Raymond Goodrich, 83, Tryon, N.C., formerly of Anoka, died Oct. 12, 2003 at his home.
Goodrich was born in Anoka, the son of the late George Foster and Elsie Dougherty Goodrich.
He was a retired colonel, serving in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 20 years and later employed at the Pentagon for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Heath Goodrich; son, George Philip Goodrich of Columbus, N.C.; daughters, Diane Kinoshita of Columbus, N.C. and Dr. Wendy Cropper of Lexington, Ky.; sisters, Marian Auchter of Coon Rapids, and Beatrice Hoppenrath of Globe, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.
Arrangements were by McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, N.C.
Elsie Hendricks
Memorial services for Elsie A. Hendricks, 88, Champlin, took place Oct. 10 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Norman Berg officiated.
Hendricks died Oct. 4, 2003 at Fairview Southdale Hospital. She was born March 14, 1915 in Minneapolis and was a retired designer for Munsingwear.
She is survived by her husband, Melville; daughter, Karen Blaska-Morrow (Jerry); grandchildren, Jill, Mark and Jennifer Blaska; stepgranddaughter, Katie Morrow; great-grandson, Noah; sister-in-law, Faith Carter; and many cousins, relatives and friends.
Interment was at Sunset cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Larry Hoglund
Funeral services for Larry W. Hoglund, 57, Brooklyn Park, took place Oct. 13 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Chaplain Kathy Lindbloom officiated.
Hoglund died Oct. 9, 2003 at North Memorial Medical Center, Robbinsdale. He was born June 17, 1936 in Anoka to Carl J. and Elsie V. (Schuck) Hoglund.
He is survived by his wife, Monica; sons, Brian Hoglund of New Hope, Erik (Krista) Hoglund of Wisconsin, Jessie (Veronica) Young of Coon Rapids; daughter, Dawn (Jake) Clyne of Ham Lake; grandchildren; brothers, Karl (Pat) Hoglund of California, Danny Hoglund of St. Cloud; sisters, Viola 'Cookie' Solberg of St. Francis, and Sandy (Chuck) Herron of Princeton; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Elsie Hoglund; and brother-in-law, Lester Solberg.
Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Timothy Isaacson
Funeral services for Timothy J. Isaacson, 50, Blaine, took place Oct. 15 at Grace Lutheran Church, Andover. Rev. Mark A. Hellmann officiated.
Isaacson died Oct. 12, 2003 in Minneapolis. He was born Nov. 15, 1952 in Minneapolis to Oscar C.H. Isaacson and Sylvia H. Zipf, and was a laborer in manufacturing.
He is survived by his brother, Philip; sisters, Marie Narveson and Elizabeth Copley; and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Michael McMahon
Funeral services for Michael J. McMahon, 85, Anoka, took place Oct. 8 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Michael Van Sloun officiated.
McMahon died Oct. 3, 2003 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Jan. 27, 1918 in Paradise Township, N.D., to Michael McMahon and Frances Collins, and was retired heavy equipment operator.
He is survived by his son, Bruce (Judy) Eggleston; daughters, Sharon (Donald) Menter, Mary McMahon (George Blair); grandchildren, Steve, Susan, Katie, David and Terrie; great-grandchildren, Claire, Joe, Jack and Lindsay; and sister-in-law, Alice McMahon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Adrianna (Dunn).
Interment was at St. Andrew's cemetery, Elk River. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Naomi Johnson
Memorial services for Naomi H. Johnson, 89, formerly of Minneapolis, took place Oct. 13 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Chaplain Alice Derry officiated.
Johnson died Oct. 6, 2003. She was born July 3, 1914 and was a 17-year employee of the University of Minnesota Library.
She is survived by her son, Ron (Diane); daughters, Beverly Johnson, Georgia (Ted) Harlan; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Beverly; and one grandchild.
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
Donna Miersch
Funeral services for Donna M. Miersch, 74, Anoka, took place Oct. 7 at Gearhart Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Anoka. Rev. Liane Rock officiated.
Miersch died Oct. 3, 2003 in Anoka. She was born March 25, 1929 in Fordville, N.D., to Alfred and Hilda Nelson. She was a custodian at the Anoka County Courthouse.
She is survived by her son, Jerry (Charlene); daughter, Peggy (Harry) Smith; grandchildren, Eric, Jessica, Julia, Melinda and Jerry Jr.; great-grandchildren, Keiffer, Karissa, Haylee; sisters, Eloise (Bob) Adamsen, Ardis Schweigart; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was cremated. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Bernice Schramm
Funeral services for Bernice A. Schramm, 85, Anoka, took place Oct. 10 at Family of Christ Lutheran Church. Rev. Dennis Perryman officiated.
Schramm died Oct. 5, 2003 in Anoka. She was born Feb. 2, 1918 in Parkers Prairie to Otto Freudenberg and Hulda Kalpin.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Crescenthia, Rick and Jenny, Curt and Anita; daughters and son-in-law, Gerane and Jim Horning, Brenda Schramm; grandchildren, Bridget, Matthew, Chelsi, Nicholas, Rachel, Austin, Adriana, Colton and Melanie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; sister, Alfa; nephew, Virgil; niece, Joann; and infant son.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
