Gladys Bacon

Funeral services for Gladys E. Bacon, 66, Anoka, took place Nov. 6 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Chaplain Ron McGilbra officiated.

Bacon died Nov. 3, 2003 at Fairview Southdale Hospital. She was born Feb. 3, 1937 in Mora to Alfred L. and Eva M. (West) Selix.

She is survived by her son, Joel Hawes of Minneapolis; daughters, Julie Bacon of Vermont and Janet (Mike) Halvorson of Lakeville; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother; five sisters; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert; parents, Alfred and Eva Selix; four brothers; and one sister.

Interment was at Mound cemetery, Brooklyn Center. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Yvonne Beversdorf

Funeral services for Yvonne S. Beversdorf, 73, Champlin, will take place today (Friday, Nov. 14) at Anoka Covenant Church. Rev. Nathan Powell will officiate.

Beversdorf died at Methodist Hospital Nov. 9, 2003. She was born April 7, 1930 in Minneapolis to Albert and Ruth Swanberg. She was retired from banking, and was a volunteer for New Life Family Service and the Kinship program.

She is survived by her daughters, Sherry Sexton (Russ), Lori Jo Turner (Dean) and Marlee Evers; granddaughters, Lesley, Jennifer, Angela, Melanie, Kaylee and spouses; grandson, Christopher; six great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly Ashton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome.

Interment will be at Crystal Lake cemetery. Arrangements are by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Valerie Cantlon

Funeral services for Valerie Ann Cantlon, 88, Eden Prairie, took place Nov. 6 at Pax Christi Catholic Community, Eden Prairie. Rev. Doug Dandurand officiated.

Cantlon died Nov. 4, 2003 at Castle Ridge Care Center, Eden Prairie. She was born Nov. 26, 1914 in St. Cloud to Felix Rozmark and Agnes Kujawa and was a retired nurse.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Corrine and Mike Fritz; granddaughter, Kristin and spouse Doug Frey; grandson, Bryan Fritz; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Michael Frey; brothers, John and Clem Rozmark; and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart.

Eva Corrow

Funeral services for Eva Corrow, 77, Anoka, took place Nov. 12 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Patrick Kennedy officiated.

Corrow died Nov. 9, 2003 at her residence. She was born May 2, 1926 in Northfield to Burt and Bessie Louk, and was a retired manufacturing inspector.

She is survived by her children, Sandy Fields (Mike), Duane (Marlette); 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Chuck Louk; and sister, Wilma Frazer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; and grandson, Chad.

Pallbearers were Brian, Eric and Mark Fields, David Corrow, Chris Kessler, Greg Zimmer and Marvin Stone.

Interment as at Epiphany cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Richard Englund

Funeral services for Richard O. Englund, 73, St. Francis, took place Nov. 7 at St. Francis United Methodist Church. Rev. Rhodel Jacobson officiated.

Englund died Nov. 2, 2003. He was born June 13, 1930 in Minneapolis to Earl L. and Marcella (Shaw) Englund, and was a retired assembler at the Ford automotive plant. He was a charter member of the St. Francis Volunteer Fire Department, and an active member of the St. Francis Lions Club and St. Francis and Oak Grove senior citizens clubs.

He is survived by his daughter, Marcy Englund; son, Rick (Michelle) Englund; stepchildren, Edna Coolidge, Elaine (Dave) Vogles, Gordon Coolidge, Margo Owens-Johnson, Michael Coolidge; grandchildren, Joe Graves and Wendy Foss, Reanna (Christophe) Cordier, Odessa (Tim) Graber, Desiree (Matt) Coons, Robert and Jon Shipp, Keith and Kyle Coolidge, Ryan and Jason Coolidge, Jenny, Brent and Sommer Dehn, Maggie Vogles; many great-grandchildren; brother, Mike Englund; and sisters, Donna Pitman, Patricia Stricklin and Phyllis Killgore.

Pallbearers were Joe Graves, Christophe, Ryan and Keith Coolidge, Tim Graber and Brent Dehn.

Interment was at West Oak Grove cemetery, Oak Grove. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Alexander Kopiecki

Funeral services for Alexander Kopiecki, 79, Andover, will take place tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 15) at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids, Rev. Bernard Reiser will officiate.

Kopiecki died Nov. 6, 2003 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Feb. 26, 1924 in Volodiewci, Ukraine, and escaped a Nazi concentration camp to come to America, arriving at Ellis Island, N.Y., in 1949 as the sole surviving member of the family. In the U.S., he became a chemist, and recently a forensic scientist with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. He also spent 30 years in the United States Air Force and Army Reserve.

He is survived by his daughters, Catherine Peterson of Florida, Helene and Julia of Andover; sons, Alexander of Edina and Michael of Andover; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith.

Interment will be at Epiphany cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements are by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Leona Kvam

Funeral services Leona Pearl Kvam, 75, Blaine, took place Nov. 5 at Christ Lutheran Church, Blaine. Rev. Duane Salness officiated.

Kvam died Nov. 2, 2003 in St. Anthony. She was born Nov. 24, 1928 in Beaver Falls, Pa.

She is survived by her children, Bob Kvam (Mary), Patty Jackson (Dennis) and Bethany Bruesehoff (Brad); grandchildren, Heidi, Heather, Ryan and Dylan; great-grandchildren, Christian, Danny, Michael, Joe, Makayl, Owen and Landen; and sister, Bessie Queer (Chuck).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; son, Kirk; grandson, David; parents, Frederick and Pearl Tyler; and sisters, Lillian St. George and Edna Schriner.

Pallbearers were Tom Nitz, Dan Benolkin, Steve and Glen Sampson, Danny Larson, and Ryan Jackson.

Interment was at Dawson cemetery, Dawson. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Leone Rumsch

Funeral services for Leone E. Rumsch, 88, Chula Vista, Calif., formerly of Anoka, took place Oct. 23 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Chula Vista, Calif.

Rumsch died Oct. 18, 2003. She was born Oct. 25, 1914 to P.J.E. and Angeline Peterson on the family farm in Waverly Township. When she and her husband Jerry lived in Anoka, they owned Fleet Motor Supply (late named Big Bear). She was a member of Anoka Philolectian and a sales representative for World Book Encyclopedia for 40 years.

She is survived by her son, Warren Rumsch and wife Peggy of Coon Rapids; daughter, Janice Sherman and husband Robert of Santa Ana, Calif.; grandchildren, Misha Hogenson and husband Jon of Winona, and Joel Rumsch of St. Paul and great-grandchildren, Brody and Aleece Hogenson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; and brothers, Orville and Palmer Peterson.

Interment was at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens, Bonita, Calif.

Elizabeth Schmidt

Funeral services for Elizabeth A. 'Betty' Schmidt, 82, Anoka, will take place tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 15), 3 p.m., at First Congregational Church, Anoka. Rev. Christopher C. Fazel will officiate.

Schmidt died Nov. 9, 2003 at the North Residential Hospice Home, Brooklyn Center. She was born Aug. 23, 1921 in Minneapolis to Clayton B. and Edna M. (Powell) Thurston, and was an Anoka High School and University of Minnesota graduate.

She is survived by her son, J. Stephen (Lin) Schmidt; daughters, Katherine (Russell Huseth) Schmidt, Mary (Jeff) Hicken, Elizabeth (David) Gregory, Jeanette Behr; stepmother, Gladys Thurston; half-brother, Charles Thurston; sister-in-law, Flo Chiles; and grandchildren, Julie Schmidt DeRuyter, Stephanie Schmidt, Brita Huseth, Anders Huseth, Andrew Hicken, Molly Hicken, Liza Hicken, Elise Gregory, Emily Gregory, Clarissa Gregory, Katherine Behr, Calvin Behr and Margaret Thurston Behr.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian J. Schmidt; and parents, Edna and Clayton Thurston.

Arrangements are by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Corey Storbeck

Memorial services for Corey A. Storbeck, 18, Webster, Wis., formerly of Blaine, took place Nov. 10 at Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Blaine. Deacon Kevin Jents officiated. Funeral services took place Nov. 11 at St. Edward's Catholic Church, Henning.

Storbeck died accidentally Nov. 4, 2003 in Webster, Wis. He was born Jan. 23, 1985 in Minneapolis and was a former student of Blaine and St. Francis high schools. He was employed in landscaping,

He is survived by his mother, Annette Storbeck and friend David; brother, Jeremy; grandparents, Don and Jeanette Schulz; godfather and uncle, Billy; aunt, Dawn; uncle, Mike; cousin, Shay; godparents, Jerome and Pearl Koep; special friend, Amy McDougald; and many other family and friends.

Interment was at St. Edward's cemetery, Henning. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel.

Marie Traum

Funeral services for Marie E. Traum, 61, Blaine, took place Oct. 29 at Gearhart Funeral Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. James Martin officiated.

Traum died Oct. 25, 2003 in Anoka. She was born Nov. 16, 1941 in Robbinsdale to Arnold and Francis Bickford, and was a bank teller.

She is survived by her husband, Al; children, Lynn (Dave) Francour, Sandy Beck DuPont, Rob (Peggy) Beck, Brenda (Kevin) Bixby, and Ted (Jody) Tram; 16 grandchildren; and brother, Ron (Peggy) Bickford.

Interment was at Oakwood cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
