Willard Breu
Funeral service for Willard Joseph Breu, 81, Ramsey, formerly of New Ulm took place Dec. 31, 2005 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Ulm.
Breu died Dec. 27, 2005 at his home after a long illness.
He was born Dec. 9, 1924 in Searles to Joseph and Dorothea (Hamman) Breu. He retired as regional supervisor in 1989 after 30 years with Holiday Stationstores. After retiring, he volunteered for 13 years with the Anoka County Sheriff's Office and with the Mended Hearts Association.
He was involved with the Knights of Columbus, Minnesota Pinto Horse Association and Minnesota Whips and Wheels Carriage Club.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Ramsey; son and daughter-in-law, Willard Jr. and Cindy Breu of Cedar Falls, Iowa; daughter, Barbara Ann Breu of Wallingford, Conn.; grandsons, Joseph Breu and wife Jennifer, Christopher Breu and wife Jani; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Carter, Landen, Ashley and Luke; brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Hilda Breu of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Theresa Johns and Doris Mae Breu in infancy; and brother, Joseph Breu Jr.
Interment was at New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Rueben Frisk
Memorial service for Rueben F. Frisk, 88, Anoka, will take place tomorrow (Saturday, Jan. 7), 11 a.m., with visitation one hour before, at Anoka Covenant Church. A masonic service will take place this evening (Friday, Jan. 6), 7 p.m., with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Frisk died Dec. 17, 2005. He was a longtime resident and business owner in Anoka and past master of Anoka Lodge No. 30, serving as secretary for 17 years.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian; brother, Eugene (Beverly); sons, James (Shari) and Stevan; sister-in-law, Darlene; friends, Jerry (Karen) Rouillard; stepsons, John (Virginia) and Michael (Debra) Hirschi; stepdaughter, Patricia (Ronald) Nelson; and numerous nieces, nephews, stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
Julie Hedstrom
Funeral service for Julie Marie Hedstrom, 48, Ramsey, will take place Sunday, Jan. 8, 2 p.m., at Grace Lutheran Church. Rev. Mark Hellmann will officiate.
Hedstrom died Dec. 27, 2005 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis. She was born Oct. 26, 1957 in Minneapolis to James Madson and Lavon Ann (Grasdalen) Engen. She was special education teacher in Anoka-Hennepin School District 11 the past nine years, first at Ramsey Elementary School and then at Coon Rapids Middle School.
She is survived by her husband, Chuck; children, Natasha, Alicia and Kassie; mother, Lavon Engen; brothers, Scott and Stuart with their families; and her husband's family, Carl, Eva, Linda and Steve.
She was preceded ion death by her farther, James Engen.
Interment will be private. Arrangements are by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Laura Lemke
Funeral service for Laura Florence Lemke 'Lee,' 81, Anoka, took place Dec. 30 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Deacon Dominic Ehrmantraut officiated.
Lemke died Dec. 28, 2005 at Anoka Care Center. She was born Sept. 29, 1924 in New Brighton to Floyd and Stella Scripture.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Lemke of Anoka, David (Marne) Lemke of Andover; daughters, Karen (Neil) Schutz of Wisconsin, Sandra (Shane) McMilleon of North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray; and grandson, Ryan Lemke.
Pallbearers were Rick and David Lemke, Shane and Kyle McMilleon, Jason Brisbin and Dwayne 'Cubby' Butzen.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Thomas Martin
Thomas Arthur Martin, 88, formerly of Anoka, died Dec. 21, 2005 in Tampa, Fla.
He was born June 11, 1917 in Milwaukee, Wis., to Arthur and Ione Martin. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corp during World War II, then settled in Anoka, where he began a dental practice. He was a founding member of the Anoka Community Concerts Association and played the oboe in the North Hennepin Symphony and Anoka Community Theatre.
He is survived by his son, Thom and wife Beverly; daughter, Krista and husband Tom; grandson, Benjamin and wife Amy; and great-granddaughter, Jordan.
Sandra Mata
Funeral service for Sandra K. Mata, 59, Brooklyn Park, took place Dec. 27, 2005 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
She is survived by her sons, Ron Miller (Karen), Ron Mata (Terri), Rick Mata (Beth), Randy Mata (Pam); daughters, Chery Taber (Ken) and Jill Mary; 18 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; mother, Jewell Barnett; brothers, Howard (Carol) Langston and Bob (Barb) Langston; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Norman Montain
Funeral service for Norman G. Montain, 90, Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 30, 2005 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Blaine.
Montain volunteered many hours making toys for TLC.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; sons, Gary (Mildred), Thomas (Beverly); daughters Pat Montain, Karen (Terry) Thelen; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, James (Alice) Montain; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.
Interment was at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, New Brighton. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Lynne Olmstead
Funeral service for Lynne Diana Olmstead, 58, Anoka, took place Dec. 30 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Jeanine Alexander officiated.
Olmstead died Dec. 27, 2005 at Maranatha Care Center, Brooklyn Center. She was born March 28, 1947 in Minneapolis to Ralph and Shirley (Jackson) Bauer and was a secretary at Kennedy Scales.
She is survived by her children, Christopher Olmstead and Kathleen (Todd) Winters; grandchildren, Braden Olmstead, Cody and Mackenzie Winters; mother, Shirley Bauer; sisters, Lois and Janet Bauer; brother, Ron (Laurie) Bauer; friends, Arthur (Renee) Olmstead, Diane Ohlenkamp and Anita Roy; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Bauer; and brother, Larry Bauer.
Pallbearers were Chris and Arthur Olmstead, Todd Winters and Ron, Lois and Janet Bauer.

Palmer Pederson
Funeral service for Palmer George Pederson, 81, Anoka, took place Jan. 3, 2006 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Roy Karner officiated.
Pederson died Dec. 28, 2005 in Anoka. He was born Feb. 15, 1924 in Burns Township to Olaf and Hazel (Benson) Pederson and was a retired masonry worker at Federal Cartridge.
He is survived by his children, Carol (Ray) Hardy, Janice Otis, Randy (Denise), Sandy (Mark) Borchard, Paula (Joel) Baker, Robin (Tom) Wantland and Dion (Suzann); 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dennis (Norma) and Gary; sisters, Grace West, Shirley Richards, Pat Polomny and Margaret (Wilbur) Eck; stepfather, Ray Georges; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorna; and brother, Algot 'Al.'
Pallbearers were Mike, Kevin and Nolan Pederson, Eric Borchard, Allen Fetterer and Scott, Donald and Timothy Larson.

MaryAnn Schmitz
Funeral service for MaryAnn (Toohey) Schmitz, 80, Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 30, 2005 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Blaine.
Schmitz is survived by her children, Judy (Jim) Burnett, Jim (Gail) Toohey, John (Sue) Toohey, Tom (Debbie) Toohey; grandchildren, Teri, Jason, Erin, Kevin, Megan, Greg, Pat, Breanna, Brian and Danielle; great-granddaughters, Alexis and Tristan; and sisters, Margaret (Wayne) Halling and Eileen 'Tuss' (Carl) Sandberg.
She was preceded in death by her son, Edward; husband, Raymond; and sister, Irene 'Honey' Miller.
Interment was at St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Mary Seidel
Funeral service for Mary L. Seidel, 84, Minneapolis, took place Jan. 2, 2006 at Church of the Epiphany, Coon Rapids.
Seidel was a lieutenant in the Army during World War II and a retired registered nurse.
She is survived by her husband, Ray; children, Kathleen Kjoberg (Mark), Mary Helmin (Ken), Robert Seidel (Cindy), Susan Braun (Michael), John Seidel (Mary), Tom Seidel (Pat); grandchildren, Nicole, Sarah, P, Marie, Katherine, Jennifer, Sherri, Danielle and Eric; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Winnie Winkelman; and brothers, Jack (Sylvia) Winkelman and Brian (Eleanor) Winkelman.
