Mary Allen

Funeral service for Mary Violet Allen, 96, Osseo, took place June 1 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Doug Swarthout officiated.

Allen died May 29, 2006 at Berkshire Residence, Osseo. She was born April 2, 1910 in South Township, Iowa, to Frank and Martha (Kruse) Rustman. She owned and operated a beauty shop for over 60 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Martie Larson; stepdaughter, Joyce Hedrix; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ed Larson and Fred Allen.

Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Ardelle Anderson

Funeral service for Ardelle Anderson, 77, Isanti, formerly of Coon Rapids, took place June 1 at Faith Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Jim Donald officiated.

Anderson died May 27, 2006 in Cambridge. She was born May 10, 1929 in Minneapolis to Albert and Adella Alitz.

She is survived by her husband, Elwin 'Swede' Anderson; children, James (Kimberly) and Jon (Cynthia); five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Monion Alitz of Litchfield; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Mildred.

Pallbearers were Derek, Chris and Roland Anderson, Christopher Geariety, Ken Johnson and Gary and Dennis Lundgren.

Interment was at Hillside Cemetery, Minneapolis. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Vernon Arvidson

Funeral service for Vernon Arvidson, 70, Spring Lake Park, took place June 5 at Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids. Rev. John Bucka officiated.

Arvidson died May 30, 2006. He was born Dec. 15, 1935 in Dickinson, N.D., to Erving and Genevieve Anderson and was a retired supervisor for Dayton's.

He is survived by his children, Greg (Linda), Sharon (Richard) Doolittle, Tom (Kathy) and Nancy (Ron) Cooper; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; siblings, Lois, Donna, Richard (Pat) and Leonard (Char); many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister; and brother.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Coleman Bergstrom

Funeral service for Coleman G. Bergstrom, 88, Coon Rapids, took place June 5 at South Isanti Baptist Church, Rev. Robert Venneman officiated.

Bergstrom died June 1, 2006 at Cambridge Medical Center. He was born Sept. 9, 1917 in Blomford, near Isanti, where he farmed for over 40 years. He retired from Hoffman Engineering in 1981 and was a lifetime member of the NRA.

He is survived by his wife, May; children, Ingrid (Pete) Anthan of West Des Moines, Iowa, Tanja (David) Wold of Coon Rapids; grandchildren, Elena, George, Daniel and Maria; great-granddaughter, Hannah; and by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Helen (Benson) Bergstrom.

Pallbearers were Peter Nenow, David, Kevin and Mark Peterson and Daniel and David Wold.

Interment was at Isanti Union Cemetery. Arrangements were by Strike Funeral Home - Isanti Chapel.

Scott Blake

Funeral service for Scott E. Blake, 46, Mounds View, took place May 31 at Spirit of Grace Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Gary Weisbrod officiated.

Blake died May 25, 2006 in Minneapolis. He was born Oct. 28, 1959 in Mora to Willard Blake and Janice Tijerina and was a computer technician.

He is survived by his children, Anthony (Catherine and unborn granddaughter), Daniel, Chelsey and Christina; parents, Willard Blake and Janice Tijerina; brother, Michael; sisters, Lani, Robin and Jill (Nick); nephews, Scott and Nicolas; niece, Gena; former wife, Debra; special friend, Megan and unborn child; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; uncles, Gordy, Ward, Milton and Dwight; and nephew, baby Lon.

Pallbearers were Scott and George Will, Drew Blake, Rick Winslow, Scott Silge and Stuart Ross. Honorary pallbearers were Nicolas and Michael Blake.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids., Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Leander Barten

Memorial service for Leander B. Barten, 76, Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Andover, took place June 2 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Chue Vang officiated.

Barten died May 26, 2006. He was born March 10, 1930 in Greenwald. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War and was retired from the Minneapolis Star Tribune as circulation manager.

He is survived by his children, Annette (Ken) Alder of Ohio, Michael (Lynne) Barten of Woodbury, Teresa (Don) Schlough of Texas, Tim (Beth) Barten of Andover; grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Shane, Lilli, Sara, Heather, Adam, Joshua, Andrew, Nicole and Garrett; great-grandchildren, Carolyn, Isabelle and John; brother, Alvin (Jeanette); sister, Barbara (David) Jennissen; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian S. Barten; and parents, Bernard and Barbara.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Joseph Craig

Funeral service for Joseph A Craig, 88, Coon Rapids, took place June 1 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Norman Berg officiated.

Craig died May 29, 2006. She was born April 26, 1918 in Princeton. He was a former mayor and councilmember of Coon Rapids, member of the first Metropolitan Council, co-founder of Mercy Hospital and board member of Dunwoody College of Technology.

He is survived by his wife, Miriam; children, Carol (Roger) Spano, Stephen (Bonnie); grandchildren, Michael Kondziolka, Amy Kondziolka, Benjamin Pagel and Courtney Jo Craig; and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were grandchildren, Michael and Amy Kondziolka, Benjamin Pagel and Courtney Jo Craig.

Interment was private at Oak Knoll Cemetery, Princeton. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Archie DeRemer

Funeral service for Archie V. DeRemer, 74, Coon Rapids, took place June 2 at Presbyterian Church of the Master, Coon Rapids. Rev. David Bierschwal officiated.

DeRemer died May 28, 2006. He was born Dec. 2, 1931 in Mankato to Archie Sr. and Victoria DeRemer. He was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired in 1997 after 22 years with the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT). He also worked over 20 years in the mailroom at the StarTribune and was a volunteer at the ABC Food Shelf as well as a volunteer driver for seniors.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys; daughters, Sherrill (Tom) Christensen, Sharon (Dan) Williams, Anita (Erik) Brue; grandchildren, Amanda and Breanna Christensen, Randy and Jamie Williams and Justine, Nicholas and Zachary Brue; half-sister, Bonita (Dennis) Hjerpe; and nephew, Michael Hjerpe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Victoria (nee Dahlberg, Anton); stepfather, Arthur Anton; second family, Ed and Arlene Shaw; and niece, Michelle Mattson (Hjerpe).

Pallbearers were Tom Christensen, Dan and Jamie Williams and Eric, Zachary and Nicholas Brue.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Grace Egge

Funeral service for Grace Egge, Anoka, took place June 1, 2006. She died May 28, 2006.

She is survived by her sons, Richard (Mary), Donald (Annette), Gerald; grandchildren, Laura (Clint), Michael (Cathy), Victoria; great-grandchildren, Claire and Chase; sisters, Donna (Wilbur) and Della; and sister-in-law, Ivy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph; parents, Herbert and Hazel; brothers, Herbert, Frank and Robert; and sister, Clara.

Arrangements were by the Cremation Society of Minnesota.

Michael Gaslin

Memorial service for Michael Harvey Gaslin, 54, Roanoke, Va., formerly of Anoka, will take place Saturday, June 24, 10:30 a.m., at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Gaslin died May 28, 2006 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born April 24, 1952 in Minneapolis to Harvey and Olive Marilyn (Wuollet) Gaslin. He was a restaurant cook.

He is survived by his aunts, Yvonne (Reuben) Gustavson, Cathie (Jerry) Morey, Jacqueline Wuollet; uncle, Boomer Wuollet; many cousins; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Marilyn Gaslin.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Daniel Karth

Memorial service for Daniel Karth, 50, Isanti, took place June 2 at Strike Funeral Home - Isanti Chapel. Rev. Howard Skulstad officiated.

Karth died May 29, 2006 at St. Cloud Hospital. He was born July 8, 1955 in Milwaukee, Wis., to Aloys and Laverne Karth. He was employed at Larsen Manufacturing, Fridley, for 28 years.

He is survived by his wife, Darcy of Isanti; brother, David (Karen) Karth of Florida; mother-in-law, Gayle Moulton of Prescott, Wis.; father-in-law, John Itschert of St. Paul Park; aunt and uncle, Bev and Donny of Wisconsin; and by other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jerry Karth.

Arrangements were by Strike Funeral Home.
