Leon Scharber
Funeral service for Leon Henry Scharber, 89, Anoka, took place March 11 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Dayton. Rev. Mark Moriarty officiated.
Scharber died March 3, 2005 at Anoka Care Center. He was born Feb. 29, 1916 in Dayton to John Henry and Susan Mary (Marx) Scharber. He was retired as a shot shell assembler at Federal Cartridge.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Margaret Scharber, Alice (Mark) Hartkopf and Christina (Jeffrey) Schuldt; grandchildren, Jessica, Rebecca, Timothy and Christopher Hartkopf, Joshua, Jacob and Sarah Schuldt; great-grandchildren, Winter and Ivan; sisters, Geraldine Scharber and Florence (Bernard) Lenz; and many other relatives and friends.
Interment was at St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Shirley Schutz
Funeral service for Shirley A. Schutz, 79, Anoka, will take place tomorrow (Saturday, March 12), 11 a.m., at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Mike Van Sloun will officiate.
Schutz died March 6, 2005 at Anoka Care Center. She was born Aug. 29, 1925 in Minneapolis to Lawrence and Blanche (Oblinger) Kubal.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (Mike) Petschl of Champlin, Sue (Glen) Christianson of Akeley, Pat (Rick) Martindale of Oregon, Tim (Tammy) Schutz of Plymouth; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Harry (Pat) Kubal of Eden Prairie, Don (Shirley) Kubal of Arlington, Robert (Aggie) Kubal of of Maple Grove; nieces and nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; grandson, Tom Barber; great-grandsons, Cody and Hunter Barber, Dominik Petschl; parents, Lawrence and Blanche Kubal; brother, Larry Kubal; and sisters, Dorothy Kubal and Ruth Kuester.
Pallbearers are Brian and Matthew Petschl, Troy Christianson, Jeremy and John Jr. Schutz and Larry Kegle.
Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Gale Westerlund
Funeral service for Gale Lloyd Westerlund, 61, Ham Lake, took place March 8 at Peace Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Kyle Sidlo officiated.
Westerlund died March 2, 2005 in Robbinsdale. He was born June 29, 1942 in St. Paul to Lawrence and Evelyn Westerlund. He founded Gale's Auto Body in Blaine in 1975 and was its operator until he retired Jan. 1. He was active in the Automotive Service Association at both the state and national levels.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Peggy Westerlund; daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy and Brian Parent, Jody and Steve Napoleon; grandchildren, Kayla, Cole, Tara and Carly Westerlund, Paige, McKenna, Austin, Blair and Boden Parent, Julianna Napoleon; sisters, Kay Madsen, Cindy O'Brien; brothers, Gary, Thomas and Todd Westerlund; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Evelyn (Lloyd Westerlund); and sister, Karen Westerlund Abbott.
Interment at Sunset Memorial Park, Minneapolis. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.
Catherine Wredberg
Funeral service for Catherine Stack Wredberg, 89, Anoka, took place March 9 at Church of St. Stephen, Anoka.
Wredberg died March 3, 2005. She was born Feb. 4, 1916 and was retired from Federal Cartridge.
She is survived by her children, Alan Wredberg and Margaret Perry, Ann and Don Scherber, John and Kathy Ottenstroer, Joanne and Walt Brunner, Jim and Sue Wredberg, Tom Wredberg, Dorothea and Phillip Morris; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Alice Stack; husbands, Henry Ottenstroer and Alvin Wredberg; sisters, Mary Russell, Margaret Vessely; and brothers, Jim, Leo, Gerald and John Stack.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka.
Jacquelyne Zierhut
Funeral service for Jacquelyne P. Zierhut, 77, Coon Rapids, will take place today (Friday, March 11), 11 a.m., at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Mike Van Sloun will officiate.
Zierhut died March 5, 2005 at her residence. She was born Oct. 12, 1927 in Aitkin County to Keith Elvin and Clara Marie (Wicorek) Thurston.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Sr.; children, Richard Jr. (Bev), David (Marilyn), Peggy (Alan) Johnson, Tricia (Greg) Wenthe; nine grandchildren; and sister, Muriel (Ross) Ryan.
Pallbearers will be Will Zierhut, Christopher, Benjamin and Michael Johnson and Alex and Nicholas Wenthe.
Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Sharon Borntrager
Memorial service for Sharon Marie Borntrager, 46, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Blaine, will take place today (Friday, March 18), 11 a.m., at Trinity Episcopal Church, Anoka.
Borntrager died March 10, 2005 after a lengthy battle with systemic scleroderma. She was born in Minneapolis on Feb. 18, 1959, to Donald and Ethel Andersen. She was a 1977 graduate of Spring Lake Park High School and the horticulture program at Anoka Technical College.
She is survived by her husband, Gerry; children, Gina of Robbinsdale, Garret of the U.S. Navy, and Amy (James) Chapman of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Raija and JD; brothers, Gary (Leslie) Thoreson of Littleton, Colo., Rick (Julie) Andersen of East Bethel, Donald Andersen, Jr. of Big Lake; sister, Becky Hawkes of Ramsey; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel; father, Donald; stepfather, Bill Vandermeer; and grandparents.
Private interment will be at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements are by Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, Las Vegas, Nev.
Raymond Herrboldt
Funeral service for Raymond Herrboldt, 82, Anoka, took place March 17 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Norm Berg officiated.
Herrboldt died March 12, 2005 at Twin Rivers Care Center, Anoka. He was born April 15, 1912 in Highmore, S.D., to Frederick and Caroline (Gallner) Herrboldt. He was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his sons, Larry (Rita Whalen) Herrboldt of Delano; Chet (Karen) Herrboldt of Princeton, Leroy (Lori) Herrboldt of Elk River; daughters, Judy (Corwin) Kronenberg of Bloomington, Donna (David) Augustson of Eagan, Dolores (Bill) Ruckel of Andover; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Tillie Herrboldt of Elk River; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola; parents, Frederick and Caroline Herrboldt; son, Raymond Herrboldt; six brothers; and four sisters.
Pallbearers were Matthew and Jarrod Augustson, Mark and Leah Herrboldt and Becky and Willie Ruckel.

Joan Larson
Funeral service for Joan E. Larson, 69, Blaine, took place March 11 at Church of St. Paul, Ham Lake. Rev. Jon Vander Ploeg officiated.
Larson died March 7, 2005 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Feb. 2, 1936 in Watertown, S.D.
She is survived by her husband, Jerome; children, Steve, David (Cindy), MaryJo; grandchildren, Charissa, Adam, Chris and Michelle; sister, Marvel Fonder; brothers, Michael Nigg (Phyllis), Patrick Nigg (Lois); sister-in-law, Lorraine Nichols; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Merville and Eleanor; and grandson, Myles Larson.
Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Collette Marshall
Memorial service for Collette 'Toots' Marshall, 69, Blaine, will take place tomorrow (Saturday, March 19, 2005), 3 p.m., at Resurrection Lutheran Church, Blaine.
Marshall was born June 23, 1935 in Isle to Everett and Enid Embertson.
She is survived by her husband, Merle 'Roger;' children, Michelle (David) Lewerenz of Cambridge; Mickey of Blaine, Jeannine of Blaine, Lori (Michael) Wischnewski of Fredericksburg, Va.; grandchildren, Jonathan, Nicholas, Ryan, Brandt, Sophia, Cole, Tristan, Hailey, Anna and Ava; brothers, Ronald (Shirley) Embertson of Ramsey, Larry (Natalie) Embertson of Brainerd; sisters, Marilyn Meyers of Eugene, Ore., Renee (Richard) Ross of Brainerd; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Enid Embertson; and brother, Roger Embertson.

Terry Ruttle
Terry Ruttle, 60, Mounds View, died March 10, 2005 in Fridley. He was born Sept, . 2, 1944 in Devils Lake, N.D., to Duane and Inez Ruttle and was a manager.
He is survived by his cousins, Dave and Doug Olson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Interment was a Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.
Henry Sperling
Funeral service for Henry G. Sperling, 87, Anoka, took place March 14 at Church of St. Stephen, Anoka.
Sperling died March 11, 2005 at Twin Rivers Care Center, Anoka. He was born Jan. 3, 1918 in Cozy Corners, Wis., and was a retired pharmacist, owning his own drug stores in Lamberton and Ruthton.
He is survived by his children, Diane (Dennis) Larson, Stephen, Linda (Daniel) Schaefer, Toni (Bill) Talbot; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and longtime friend, Claire Einen.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel.
Pallbearers were Doug Olsen, Simmon and Dan Schaefer, Dennis Larson, Bill Talbot and Steve Staug.
Interment was at Sunset Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
