Marie Strouse

Funeral service for Marie Wasnick Strouse, 91, Anoka, took place March 14 at First Congregational Church of Anoka. Rev. Chris Fazel officiated.

Strouse died March 11, 2005 at Camilia Rose Convalescent Center, Coon Rapids. She was born Nov. 10, 1913 in Minneapolis to Michael Dimitri and Lena Wasnick and was a retired assembler at Federal Cartridge.

She is survived by her children, Jeanne Pospisil and husband Ken of Big Lake, James Strouse and wife Cecilia of North Carolina, Michael Strouse and wife Susan of Texas; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, William Wasnick of Montevideo, Ted Wasnick and wife Joan of Duluth; sister, Ann Matunich of California; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton.

Pallbearers were Michael, James, Bradley and Brent Strouse and Ken and Blake Pospisil.

Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

David Ward

Memorial service for David R. Ward, 53, Old Monroe, Mo., took place March 8 at Calvary Chapel, Troy, Mo. Another memorial service will take place at Pleasant Hill, Mo., High School March 24, 1 to 5 p.m.

Ward died March 4, 2005. He began his career as a music teacher in Moravia, Iowa, where he taught and directed for 12 years. The Wards moved to Pleasant Hill, Mo., where he taught and directed for 13 years. He finished his career at Troy Buchanan High School, Troy, Mo.

He is survived by wife Janis Ward; daughters Tracy and Tanna Ward, all of Old Monroe, Mo.; mother Mary Ward and brother Paul Ward, both of Coon Rapids; and brother Jon Ward and family of St. Paul.

He was preceded in death by daughter Lani; sister Diane (Ward) Williams; and father, John Russell Ward.

Doris Beardsley

Funeral service for Doris Arlene Beardsley, 88, Coon Rapids, took place March 23 at the Gearhart Funeral Home in Coon Rapids. Rev. Willis Peterson officiated.

Beardsley, a homemaker, died March 17, 2005 in Coon Rapids. She was born Dec. 30, 1916 to Carrol and Laura Hurd and married Carlton T. Beardsley, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Ethan and Ward Hurd and her sister Charlotte Olson.

Beardsley is survived by a son, Carlton (Kathleen), grandchildren Kevin (Ellen), Jolene (Kyle) Hiller and Sara (Jerry) Rud; great-grandchildren Riley, Natalie and Aubrey Beardsley, Payton and Parker Hiller and Samantha Rud and her brother Franklin Hurd.

Internment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens in Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Reita Bearl

Funeral service for Reita Mae Bearl, 72, Coon Rapids, took place March 17, 2005 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

She died on Sunday, March 13, 2005.

She is survived by her husband, Wendell Bearl; children, Kerri Malmgren (Jeffrey), Kim England, Bill Ramsey, Martha Meyer (Todd) and Dana Ramsey; grandchildren, Mike, Erika, Beth, Justin, Jordan, Allison, Katelyn, Andrew and Taylor; brothers, Kenneth and Paul; sister, Janoyce; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Laurel Hourihan.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Arlyne Engebretson

Funeral service for Arlyne M. Engebretson, 88, Columbia Heights and formerly of Buffalo, took place March 21 at the First Lutheran Church of Columbia Heights. Rev. Thomas Carlson officiated.

Engebretson died March 16, 2005 at Fairview Northland Regional Hospital in Princeton. She was born Jan. 18, 1917 to Olaf and Inga Hammre Anderson and married Ben Engebretson Sept. 27, 1938 in Chicago. She was employed for 23 years by the Bureau of Engraving.

Engebretson was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years Ben, a son, Rev. Bruce Engebretson, her parents, brothers James, Gerald and Olaf and a sister, Geraldine Anderson.

She is survived by children Aaron (Judy) Engebretson of Minneapolis, Virginia (Earl) Husak of Monticello and Eleanor Engebretson of Nevada, daughter-in-law Miriam Engebretson of Alaska, grandchildren several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.

The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.

Frederick Greening

Funeral service for Frederick Greening, 78, Lexington, took place March 24, 2005 at the Gearhart Funeral Home in Coon Rapids. Rev. Dr. Mark Yackel-Juleen officiated.

Greening, who was a senior field service representative, died March 20 in Fridley. He was born to Cyril and Elizabeth Greening Nov. 7, 1926 in Minneapolis and married Joyce, who preceded him in death. Also preceding Greening in death was his sister Iris.

Greening is survived by his daughters Carol (Gary) Frederickson, Christine (Curt) Osborne, Karen Zimmerman, his sons Scott and Eric, grandchildren Traci, Melanie, Tom, Tanya, Ryan, Amanda, Travis, Gregory, Anna and Hannah, great-grandchildren Alex, Jesse, Seth and Cyrus and his sister Elsie Bernie Juleen.

Internment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens in Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Anne Hagen

Memorial service for Anne M. Hagen, 88, Coon Rapids, took place March 15 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Hagen died March 11, 2005.

She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Hagen; daughter, Judy Lillibridge (Emerson); son, Donald S. Hagen (Leona); grandchildren, Debbie Lillibridge, Kathi Reznecheck, Scott Hagen and Karyn Folsted; six great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; sister, Helen Chandler (Richard); and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Peter Scott; and brothers, Neal, Arnold, Vernon and Paul.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Donald Holcombe

Donald A. Holcombe, formerly of Anoka and graduate of the Anoka High School class of 1947, died March 14, 2005 in Colorado.

Holcombe, who lived in Fort Collins, was born July 22, 1929. He is survived by his wife Geraldine (Gerry) and sons James (Debra), Mark (Denise) and John (Carolyn) in addition to nine grandchildren and his brothers Robert and Dean.

Theresa Metzer

Funeral service for Theresa Metzer, 39, of rural Princeton, took place March 23 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Rev. Jose Edayadiyil officiated.

Metzer died March 18, 2005 at Regional Medical Center, Cancer Treatment Center of America, Zion, Ill. She was born June 8, 1965 in St. Paul to Thomas and Audrey Ricker.

She is survived by her husband, Russell; daughters, Shelby, Abigail and Alizabeth; parents, Thomas and Audrey Ricker of Roseville; sisters, Kim (Mick) Mullan of Wyoming, Mari Ricker of Roseville, Michele (Rich) Johnston of Stacy; brothers, Jeff (Cyndi) Ricker of East Bethel, Jim Ricker of Roseville, Mike Ricker of Hopkins; father-in-law, Dennis Metzer of Nashwauk; brothers-and sisters-in-law, Mike (Sheryl) Metzer of St. Francis, Chris (Mike) Metzer-Korpele of Cloquet, Char Metzer of Grand Rapids; and by many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Barbara Metzer and sister-in-law, Cathy Metzer.

Pallbearers were Russell and Dennis Metzer, Tom, Jeff, Jim and Mike Ricker.

Interment was at East Bradford Cemetery. Arrangements were by Strike Funeral Home - Isanti Chapel.

George Spaniol Jr.

Funeral service for George Leonard Spaniol Jr., 83, Coon Rapids, are pending and will take place in Superior, Wis.

He died on Monday, March 14, 2005.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; son, Larry (Tina); daughter, Susan Droisum (Kenneth); and grandchildren, Melanie, Kyle (Lioba), Andrew and Caitlin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Lillian.

Arrangements are by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Alvah Williams

Funeral service for Alvah D. Williams, 78, Blaine, took place March 16, 2005 at Christ Lutheran Church, Blaine.

Williams was retired from Thermo-Serv in Anoka.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; children, Joe Starr (Carol), Judy Bonnema (Kel), Diane Williams, Brenda Drewitz (Scott), Allen Williams (Brenda); son-in-law, Russ VanVickle; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Darlene Halvorson (Ollie) and Eileen Bergstrom (Philip); and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debbie; and son-in-law, Ben Faust.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Molly Anderson

Funeral service for Molly Hudson Tyler Anderson, 82, Blaine, formerly of Anoka, will take place Sunday, April 3, 2 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service, at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Revs. Timothy Johnson and Norman R. Berg will officiate.

Anderson died March 3, 2005 at Camilia Rose Convalescent Center, Coon Rapids. She was born Feb. 26, 1923 in San Bernardino, Calif., to Don Charles and Edith (West) Tyler. She was a piano teacher and choir member, soloist and accompanist at Zion Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Anderson; children, Darrell (Gail Shackel) of Bainbridge Island, Wash., Milton (Bev) of Edmonds, Wash., Laurel and Holly Anderson, both of the Anoka area; and grandchildren, Steven and Tyler Anderson and Kelsey Shackel-Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Elsie Anne Roddick.

Interment will be at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements are by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
