Gene Balabon
Funeral service for Gene Russell Balabon, 61, Bethel, took place April 30 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Rev. Liane S. Rock officiated.
Balabon died April 25, 2005 at Fairview University Medical Center, Minneapolis. He was born Jan. 14, 1944 in West Palm Beach, Fla., to James William and Cleo Faye (Sinclair) Balabon and was a mechanical engineer.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; son, Mark; daughter, Brenda Balabon; brother, Jim; and sister, Linda Balabon.
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Paul Carlson
Funeral service for Paul A.L. Carlson, 58, Blaine, took place April 22 at Church of St. Paul, Ham Lake. Rev. Paul Feela officiated.
Carlson died April 20, 2005. He was born Aug. 16, 1946 in Biwabik to John and Inez Leivska and was a lieutenant for the Minnesota Department of Corrections at Lino Lakes.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene; son, Paul (Zolene); daughter, Marjorie (Curtis) Carlson; grandchildren, Christian, Zane, Ella May; sisters, Lorraine Levendowski, Diane Tschida; brother, Rev. Ralph Larson; and numerous relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eleanora Kangas.
Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.
Emma DeMar
Funeral service for Emma S. DeMar (nee Motteberg), 93, Blaine, took place April 25 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Rosanne Swanson officiated.
DeMar died April 21, 2005 at Park River Estates Care Center, Coon Rapids. She was born April 1, 1912 in Gary.
She is survived by her daughter, Marlene Ford (John); daughter-in-law, Kathy Lade; grandchildren, Charles (Sylvia) Lade, Daniel (Jody) Lade, Kenneth (Sharon) Lade, Derek (Terry) Ford, Jeff (Toni) Ford, Brenda Byram and Julie Case (Barry); 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Arnold Motteberg; and sister, Christine Hanson.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Herman Lade and Don DeMar; and son, Ardell Lade.
Pallbearers were Derek, Jeff and John Ford and Dan, Ken., Chuck, Drew and Daniel Lade.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
Wallace Ellwood
Funeral service for Wallace Frank Ellwood, 58, Coon Rapids, took place April 22 at Faith Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. James Donald officiate.
Ellwood died April 9, 2005 in a motorcycle accident in Ham Lake. He was born June 16, 1946 in Valejo, Calif., to Richard and Violet Ellwood. He served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War and was a member of the National Guard, American Legion and VFW. He was a painter by profession.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Alyssa (fiance Tom Bergman) of Moorhead; Holly Enwall and boyfriend Erik Mortenson of Eagan and Jennifer (Michael) Wietman; granddaughter, Kirsten; mother, Violet Talbot of Duluth; brothers, Donald (Jean) of Brooklyn Park, William of Eveleth, Charles (Teresa) of Duluth; sister, Florence (Larry) Pierce of Duluth; father-in-law, Laverne Diedrich of Northwood, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Richard) Byrne of Sioux City, Iowa, and Kathy (Jim) Berg of Northwood, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Ellwood; brothers, Richard and Ralph; two stepfathers; and mother-in-law, Margaret Diedrich.
Interment was at Sun Rest Cemetery, Northwood, Iowa. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.
Sharon Glosimodt
Funeral service for Sharon Elaine Glosimodt (nee Kroona), 63, Coon Rapids, took place May 5 at Emmanuel Christian Center, Spring Lake Park. Rev. Mark G. Denyes officiated.
Glosimodt died May 1, 2005 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Nov. 26, 1941 in Willmar to Harold "Happy" Ferdinand and Ruth Antonia (Arvidson) Kroona.
She is survived by her husband, John; children, David (Karen) of Ramsey, Anita (Douglas) Bierman of Chisago City; grandson, Isaac, Ethan and Levi Bierman; and sisters, Ramona McComish of Phoenix, Ariz., Beverly Lyman of Mitchell, S.D.
Pallbearers were David Glosimodt, Douglas Bierman, Donald Hanes, Barry Welch and William Peterson.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Lawrence Hierlinger
Funeral service for Lawrence Hierlinger, 77, Blaine, took place May 3 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Dennis Heiden officiated.
Hierlinger died April 30, 2005 at his home. He was born June 11, 1927 in Crown to Carl and Ella Hierlinger. He served in the U.S.Air Force from 1952 to 1956 and was employed at Federal Cartridge for 14 years and then drove a school bus for 14 years.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Marri Hierlinger of Blaine; brother, Elmer (Pat) of Anoka; sisters, Hazel Lindgren of Anoka and Renata Emmans of Owatonna; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold and Merle; twin brother, Clarence; and sister, Mabel Anderson.
Pallbearers were Maurice Anderson, Rick Emmans, Chuck Henning, Greg and Michael Hierlinger and Randy Lindgren. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Block, Bill and Steve Danger, Dale Jones, Russell and Howard Krause, Lenny Lindblad, Bruce Nyberg and Lyle Schleif.
Interment was in Rice Lake Lutheran Cemetery, Braham. Arrangements were by Strike Funeral Home - Isanti Chapel.
Marilyn Hubbard

Hubbard died May 1, 2005. She was born Feb. 22, 1935.

Joan Jokinen

Jokinen died April 23, 2005 at her home. She was born Jan. 2, 1947 in Minneapolis and was a dispatcher at Honeywell.
She is survived by her children, Tim Perlich and Angela (Doug) Williams; granddaughters, Marissa, Jillian and Valerie; and friends, family and caregivers.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Lee.

Alfred King
Private funeral service for Alfred Harold King, 76, Coon Rapids, took place April 19 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
King died April 26, 2005 in Anoka. He was born May 20, 1928 in Redby and was an electronics engineer.
He is survived by his daughter, Jasmin; son, Alfred E.; and siblings, Richard and Ethel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Isolde.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.
John Klanderud
Funeral service for John D. Klanderud, 81, Minneapolis, took place April 26 at Emmanuel Christian Center, Spring Lake Park. Rev. G. Mark Denyes officiated.
Klanderud died April 22, 2005. He was born July 13, 1923 in Minneapolis.
He is survived by his children, Judith (Frank) Velenza, John (Joan), James (Sandra), Timothy (Mitsuko), Vernon (Judy), Jack (Joyce), Jill (Jim) Lindquist, Rebecca (Timothy) Overbaugh, Paul (Crystal) and Philip (Monica); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith; and daughter, Laura Ann.
Pallbearers were Paul, Philip and Samuel Klanderud, Timothy Overbaugh and Harvey and Jason Simonson.

Barbara Litzau

Litzau died April 28, 2005. She was born April 21, 1942 in Minneapolis to Francis Robert and Maryn Lucille (O'Connell) Mallick.
She is survived by her husband, Gary; sons, Gregory (Kathy), John (Heidi) and Michael; grandchildren, Shaela, Teaony, Jake, Hunter and Noah; sisters, Joan (Tom) Gillespie, Judi Olson and Frank (Dave) Gunderson; brothers, Joseph (Alice) Mallick and Michael Mallick; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
