Arlan Rathbun

Funeral service for Arlan Lavern Rathbun, 82, Anoka, took place June 27 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Rev. Norman Berg officiated.

Rathbun died June 20, 2005 at Mercy Hospital. He was born June 10, 1923 in Anoka to John Jacob and Edna (Johnson) Rathbun. He was the retired owner/operator of Rathbun Plumbing and Heating Company.

He is survived by his cousins, Karin McGerr of Maple Place and her sons Nickolas Dillner of Coon Rapids and Steven Dillner of Ramsey, Stephen Pierce and family of Irvine, Calif., Gary Pierce and family of Gardenville, Nev., Bryan Pierce of Vail, Colo., Brenda Pierce-Knutson and her sons of Granite Bay, Calif., Linda Hill of Choteau, Mont., and Daniel Chelberg and family of Aitkin.

Pallbearers were Gary and Paul Pierce, Mark Brisbin, Mark Guck, Dean Sorenson and Jon Daly. Honorary pallbearers were Jon Caine and Neil Smith.

Interment was at West Oak Grove Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Anna Voss

Funeral service for Anna Mae Voss, 83, Blaine, took place June 21, 2005 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

She is survived by her relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Dorothy Bulen

Funeral service for Dorothy Mae Bulen, 86, Anoka, took place Aug. 1 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Terry Beeson officiated.

Bulen died July 28, 2005. She was born July 29, 1918 in Anoka to Frank R. and Annette (Corvin) Lynn. She was retired from Federal Cartridge.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Engen, Patricia (William) Kucinski-Morris and Deborah (Rodney) Toth; grandchildren, Martin, Kristen, Kimberly, Robert, Davin, Julie, Sophia, Natalie and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Arrik and Lexus; nieces and nephews; and many other friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son, Robert "Bim;" and grandson, Jeffrey.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Ronald Charter

Funeral service for Ronald Richard Charter, 65, Blaine, took place Aug. 4 at Grace Fellowship. Rev. Kim Kramer officiated.

Charter died July 31, 2005 at Mercy Hospital. He was born June 15, 1940 in St. Paul to Darrell Vincent and Gertrude Marie (Schmidt) Charter. He was a retired metal fabricator.

He is survived by his wife, Marlys; sons, Richard (Kim), Kurt (Shelley), Daniel (Jill) and Wayne (Lindsay); grandchildren, Crystal, Angel, Mathew, Wayne, Stefani, Amanda, Kayci, Zachary, Jamie, Adaleene and Louise; great-grandson, Jason; brothers, Gary, Dennis, Kurt and Kevin (Lori) Charter; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Richard, Kurt, Daniel, Wayne, Kevin and Warren Charter.

Interment was at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Wyoming. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Debra Conner

Funeral service for Debra Ann Conner, 48, Coon Rapids, took place July 29 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Zehren officiated.

Conner died July 26, 2005 in Blaine. She was born Sept. 23, 1956 in Minneapolis.

She is survived by her husband, Mike; children, Michael, Jamie, Darlene Granlund (Rick), Diane Granlund, Bo Conner; grandchildren, Angel, Tyler, Paige, Mark, Chase, Jessica, Ethan, Nicolette; mother, Karen Fitzimmons; brother, Irv; and sisters, Francis "Tootie" and Lori Granlund.

Interment was private. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Harold Eggum

Funeral service for Harold Eggum, 71, took place July 30 at Coon Rapids Evangelical Free Church. Rev. Dean Johnson officiated.

Eggum died July 25, 2005 of cancer. He was born Sept. 1, 1933.

He is survived by his wife, Sonja (nee Jorgenson); children, Terry (Terri), Ray, David (Lori), Jackie, Lyle, Robert, Melissa Hoesley (Randy); 16 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; brothers, LaVern (Lois), Rodney (Mavis); and sisters, Phyllis Ness and Carolyn Bosko (Bob Dykes).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Clara; and infant son, Harold.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Paul Malamen

Funeral service for Paul George Malamen, 87, Elk River, took place July 30 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Norman R. Berg officiated.

Malamen died July 26, 2005 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Feb. 18, 1918 in Dawson, N.D., to George Paul and Klara (Zoloterova) Malamen. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Good Sam Camping Club and Ramsey Senior Club.

He is survived by his wife, Zola; son, Pete (Barbara); grandchildren, Adam, Johanna and fiance Chris, Deborah Malamen; sisters, Christine Dady, Pauline Banwart, Martha Boechers, Celia Abraham and Vera Brown; and sister-in-law, Lorraine Malamen.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James; and sister, Mary.

Pallbearers were Gordon Nelson, Earl Taylor, Dennis Hammerseng, Mike Malamen, Ken Schendel and Bob Brown.

Interment was at Champlin Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Walfrid Nelson

Funeral service for Walfrid A. "Tuffy" Nelson, 83, Anoka, took place July 28 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Terry Beeson officiated.

Nelson died July 24, 2005 in Anoka. He was born Oct. 21, 1921 in Virginia to Fred and Hildur Nelson. He was a retired shoe store manager.

He is survived by his sons, Gregory (Tris) and Corey; grandchildren, Carley, Yale, Gregor and Travis; and great-grandchildren, Adin, Kale and Tyla.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home.

William Sluzacek

Memorial service for William F. Sluzacek, 34, Fridley, will take place Saturday, Aug. 13, 11:30 a.m., at Fridley United Methodist Church. Rev. Deb Walkes will officiated.

Sluzacek died July 7, 2005 of cancer. He was born Sept. 11, 1970 in Elmhurst, Ill.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; son, Joseph "Joey;" parents, Pat and Elgin; brothers, Guy (June), Jerry (Lisa); sister, Erika; grandmothers, Downing Fountain and Mary Sluzacek; parents-in-law, Karen and Robert Dove; brother-in-law, Michael Dove; and many other family and friends.

Arrangements are by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Heloise Eager

Memorial service for Heloise E. Eager (Moore), 80, Coon Rapids, took place Aug. 6 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids, Rev. Bill Steinke officiated.

Moore died July 29, 2005 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Aug. 23, 1924 in Minneapolis to Harold and Emma (Larson) Moore.

She is survived by her husband, Russell; children, Joy (Robert) Van Horn, Faith (Steve) Marks, Greg (Jeanne) Wyman, Lori Wyman; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Burgoyne; brother, Dennis (Sharon) Moore; and many relatives and friends.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Caden Fair

Funeral service for Caden Stanley Fair, 3 1/2 months, Elk River, took place Aug. 5 at Servant of Christ Lutheran Church, Champlin. Rev., Brenda Legred officiated.

Caden died Aug. 2, 2005 from trisomy 22. He was born April 23, 2005 in Robbinsdale to Gregory Alan and Alayne Marie (Kantor) Fair.

He is survived by his parents, Greg and Alayne; grandparents, Dennis and Katherine Kantor and Michael and Phyllis Fair, all of Champlin; aunts, uncles and cousins; special aunt, Stacy Crute; and many other family and friends.

Interment was at Orono Cemetery, Elk River. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Gerhald Johnson

Memorial service for Gerhald J. Johnson, 61, Ham Lake, took place Aug. 4 at Church of the Epiphany, Coon Rapids. Rev. David Hennen officiated.

Johnson died July 29, 2005. He was born March 14, 1944 in Albert Lea to Hjalmer and Doris (Swenson) Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Jay, Michele (Jere Millner), Brenda Hostetler (Jason), Eric and Ryan; grandchildren, Dylan, Lauren and Madalynn; father, Hjalmer; and twin sister, Judith Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris; and brother, Donald.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
