Elfreda Almgren
Memorial service for Elfreda Marie Almgren, 90, Milaca, took place Aug. 13 at Elim Home. Rev. Tom Sahlstrom officiated.
Almgren died Aug. 8, 2005 at Fairview Northland Regional Hospital, Princeton. She was born Oct. 16, 1914 in Minneapolis to Anton Ole and Valborg A. (Hagen) Jacobson. She was a retired supervisor at D.W. Onan Manufacturing Company.
She is survived by her sons, David Almgren and wife Jeanie of Andover, Rudy Almgren of Roseville; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph; parents, Anton and Valborg Jacobson; and brothers, Arvid and Walter Jacobson.
Interment was private at Hillside Cemetery, Milaca. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Thomas Anderson
Funeral service for Thomas Kirk Anderson, 54, Andover, took place Aug. 12 at Elim Baptist Church. Rev. Robert E. Brunko officiated.
Anderson died Aug. 8, 2005. He was born March 16, 1951 in Minneapolis to Raymond Nels and Janice Muriel (Westlund) Anderson. He was a financial recruiting consultant at Certes Financial Pros.
He is survived by his wife, Penny; children, Peter (Erica), Michael (Sonja), Emily and Brian; parents, Ray and Janice Anderson; brothers, Dave (Debbie), John (Melody), Jim (Nancy) and Tim (Tracy); sister, Carol (Bob) Swalve; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Joshua, Ben, Sam, Dan and Jason Anderson, Kyle and Justin Watkins and Joe, Jacob and Caleb Swalve.
Interment was at West Oak Grove Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Delores Germundsen
Funeral service for Delores Ethelyn Germundsen, 79, Champlin, took place Aug. 17 at the Thurston-Lindberg Chapel, Anoka. Pastor Eric Walbolt officiated.
Germundsen died Aug. 13, 2005. She was born Jan. 1, 1926 in Askov to Anker and Pearl (nee Smith) Simonsen, graduated from Askov High School and attended Purdue University. She married Richard Germundsen and was a homemaker.
She is survived by children Richard, Doug, Beth Germundsen (Steve Peterson); grandson Erik Germundsen; sister Jeanette St. Clair and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, parents Anker M. and Pearl and brother Anker Simonsen.
Internment was at the Champlin Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Norma Helmerick
Funeral service for Norma Jean Helmerick, 58, Ham Lake, took place Aug. 11 at Church of St. Paul, Ham Lake. Rev. Howie McGraw officiated.
Helmerick died Aug. 8, 2005 at Fairview Hospital. She was born May 3, 1947 to Francis and Anna Mae (Bremer) Lais.
She is survived by her husband Tom; children, Neil (Shannon), Dean and Cindy; granddaughters, Allison and Samantha; sisters, Janet Gaul (Paul) and Linda Godbey (Ralph); and brother, Bob Lais (Sharon).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Anna Mae Lais.
Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Robert Leger
Memorial service for Robert Norman Leger, 63, Kennedy, will take place tomorrow (Saturday, Aug. 20) at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. David Blume will officiate.
Leger died July 16, 2005 in Kennedy from a heart attack. He was born July 14, 1942 in Anoka to Norman and Ethel Leger. He was employed in sales.
He is survived by his son, Matthew R. Leger; daughter, Monica Ann Leger; brother, James L. Leger; and good friend, Cathy Maloney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Ethel; sisters, Evelyn and Norma; and brother, Buzz.
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Martin Moore
Funeral service for Martin James Moore, 78, Anoka, took place Aug. 13 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Deacon Dominic Ehrmantraut officiated.
Moore died Aug. 9, 2005 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, St. Cloud. He was born Nov. 26, 1926 in Cascade, Iowa, to Martin James and Gertrude (Spencer) Moore. He was a retired superintendent at May Co. and a member of the Champlin American Legion Post.
He is survived by his wife, Melva; sons, Richard (Sandra), Kirk (Linda) and Keith (Jane); grandchildren, Derek, Kristi, Evan, Andrew, Ian and Garrett; great-grandchildren, Karlie, Blake and Riley; and brother, Paul (Janet).
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Leslie Myers
Funeral service for Leslie S. Myers, 83, Coon Rapids, took place Aug. 16 at Peace Lutheran Church in Coon Rapids. Pastor Kyle Sidlow officiated.
Myers died Aug. 12, 2005 in St. Paul. She was born Aug. 2, 1922 in Carrington, ND to Willis and Mami Myers. He married Myrtle Baumgart and was a buyer for the Univac Corporation.
He is survived by his wife Myrtle; son Mitch (Cindy); daughters Sheila Myers and husband Randy Christensen, Nancy Myers; grandchildren Mitch, Nicole, Allen and Shannon; great-grandchildren Tyler and Brennan; brothers Bill and Glen and sisters Ethel and Clara.
Myers was preceded in death by his parents Willis and Mamie and his sister Leona.
Internment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.
Henry Newton
Funeral service for Henry F. Newton, 92, Coon Rapids, took place Aug. 12 at Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids. Rev. Richard Krogen officiated.
Newton died Aug. 7, 2005 in Minneapolis. He was born Sept. 12, 1912 in Warroad to Frank and Ellen Newton. He married Dorothy Newton, worked as a grocer and served with the Navy during WWII.
He is survived by sons Jerry (Rita) and Wayne (Vonnie); grandchildren Ariane, Rebecca, Sabrina, Eric, Sophia, Kimball, Llena and Todd and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy.
Internment was at Sunset Cemetery, Minneapolis. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.
Joan Schlichting
Funeral service for Joan J. Schlichting, 66, Coon Rapids, took place Aug. 13 at Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids. Rev. Mark Wehmann officiated.
Schlichting died Aug. 8, 2005 in Rapids. She was born Jan. 1, 1939 in Minneapolis to Adolph and Pauline Weleszki. She worked in the medical field in the records department.
She is survived children Pam Mork, Joyce Holm, Jay (Angela) Holm, Shirley (Bob) Paulson; grandchildren Cassandra, Samantha, Cory, Blake and Erika; great-grandson Dylan, and many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Adolph and Pauline and brother Al.
Internment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.
Gerald Tennier
Funeral service for Gerald P. Tennier, 52, Big Lake (formerly of Coon Rapids), took place Aug. 10 at Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids. Dr. Cary Flink officiated.
Tennier died Aug. 6, 2005 in Monticello. He was born May 16, 1953 to Gerald P. and Marilyn Tennier in Superior, Wis.
He is survived by son Jerry (Amanda) and daughter Jaylene; grandchildren Hannah, Alanna, Cynthia and Bryce; mother Marilyn; special friend Lois, brothers Larry, Gary, Barry, Jeffrey and Mark; sisters Sherri, Tamara, Terrie, Shelley and LorRae along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Gerald and sister Kerri.
Internment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.
Gladys Thurston
Funeral service Gladys Burch Thurston, 94, Anoka, took place Aug. 13 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Pastor Norman R. Berg officiated.
Thurston died Aug. 9, 2005 in Anoka. She was born Feb. 27, 1911 in St. Croix Falls, Wis. to Joseph and Julia Burch. She married Clayton Blaine Thurston and was a homemaker. In addition, Thurston was member of the Philolection Society and with her husband was a host to many AFS students during the 1950s and 1960s.
She is survived by son Charles (Noreen); grandchildren Matthew and Catherine; nephews Stephen (Carolyn) Johansen, Jim (Janice) Johansen, and all members of the Schmidt family.
Thurston was preceded in death by her husband Clayton; stepdaughter Betty Schmidt; seven brothers and sisters.
Internment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
