Jared Michelson

Funeral service for Jared J. Michelson, 19, Eden Prairie, formerly of Isanti, took place Sept. 14 at Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Michelson died Sept. 9, 2005 in Eden Prairie. He was born Dec. 15, 1985 in Bismarck, N.D., to Jeffrey Michelson and June R, Ham. He was employed as a retail cashier.

He is survived by his mother, June R. Ham; father, Jeffrey W. Michelson; brother, Justin Michelson; grandparents, Wesley Michelson, Alvin Ulmer and Joyce Ulmer; stepfather; stepmother; four stepbrothers; two stepsisters; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Bette Michelson and Marie Michelson; and infant brother, Joel Alan Michelson.

Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home.

Anna Mills

Funeral service for Anna S. Mills, 88, Blaine, took place Sept. 20 at Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids. Rev. Mark Wehman officiated.

Mills died Sept. 17, 2005 in Coon Rapids. She was born April 19, 1917 in Fairmont to Henry and Cecelia Prochniak.

She is survived by her children, Tyrone Mills, Richard Mills, Judy (Dallas) Forsman, Mary Ellen Mills, Scott (Shelley) Mills; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; siblings, Steve Prochniak, Eva Redding, Richard Prochniak; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester F. Mills; and sister, Irene Brockman.

Pallbearers were Jody and Shane Forsman and Daniel Paul, Eric, Michael and Dan J. Mills.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Bret Newbold

Service of remembrance for Bret Newbold, 29, Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Blaine, will take place tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 24) at Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids. Rev. Bill Steinke will officiate.

Newbold died Aug. 30, 2005 in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 25, 1975 in Sandy, Utah, and was employed in the entertainment industry.

He is survived by his parents, Shirley (Don) Heiden and Bruce Newbold; brothers, Bart and Adam; grandparents; and other relatives and friends.

Interment will be private. Arrangements are by Gearhart Funeral Home.

Robert Rosenthal

Funeral service for Robert Henry Rosenthal, 60, Andover, took place Sept. 17 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Rev. Randy Discher officiated.

Rosenthal died Sept. 13, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital, St. Paul. He was born Jan. 13, 1945 in Glen Ellyn, Ill., to Henry Dittmar and Edris (Gardner) Rosenthal. He was a credit counselor at Alliance One and a youth soccer coach for more than 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Brian. Michael (Dasa), Carolyn and Mark; sisters, Joanne (Fred) Nelson and Linda (Jim) LeFavre; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Edris Rosenthal.

Interment was private. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Opal Scott

Funeral service for Opal L. Scott, 88, Blaine, took place Sept. 14 at Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids. Rev. James Martin officiated.

Scott died Sept. 10, 2005 in Minneapolis. She was born Oct. 2, 1916 in Minneapolis to Laurance Hegstead and Thora Backen. She as a retired punch/drill press operator.

She is survived by her sons, Michael (Margaret) Strout and Richard Scott; daughters, Patricia (Galin Sylvester) Dahl and Angela (George) Nord; grandchildren, Rick, Ken, Randy, Bill, Rhonda, Ted, Mellissa, Kelly and Chrisey; great-grandchildren, Brian, David, Sherri, Halley, T.J., Ashley, Brianna, T.J., Tory, McKenna, Allissa; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Thora Backen; father, Laurance Christian Hegstead; brother, Clarence Tillman Hegstead; and sisters, Evelyn Ducket (Raymond) and Lillian Borgan.

Pallbearers were Ted and T.J. Hauser, Bill and Randy Sandberg, Brian Dahl and Leo Roehl.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home.

Cordelia Songstad

Funeral service for Cordelia Lucille 'Dee' Songstad, 79, Coon Rapids, took place Sept. 17 at Riverdale Assembly of God. Rev. Larry E. Hale officiated.

Songstad died Sept. 14, 2005 at her home. She was born Dec. 10, 1925 in Wyanett to Hjalmer Bagne and Selma Evelyn (Johnson) Johnson. She was a retired secretary and office manager in the Anoka County Assessor's Office.

She is survived by her husband, Vern; son, Gregory Songstad; daughter, Andrea (Chuck) Philipsek, all of Coon Rapids; grandchildren, Sam and Alexandra Philipsek, Jesse Songstad and Michelle Chapman; brother, Delbert (Hazel) Johnson of Alexandria; sisters, Grace (Lloyd) Hughes of Grand Rapids, Bonnie Payne and Elizabeth (Gordy) Starkey, all of Coon Rapids; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hjalmer and Selma Johnson; brothers, Clifford and Russell Johnson; sister, Martha Crabtree; and daughter-in-law, Sharon Songstad.

Pallbearers were Sam and Alexandra Philipsek, Bob Payne, Larry and Kenny Johnson and Mike Bourke.

Interment was at Wyanett Cemetery, Wyanett Township. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Mary Columbus

Funeral service for Mary A. Columbus, 84, Coon Rapids, took place Sept. 19 at Church of the Epiphany, Coon Rapids. Rev. Wehmann officiated.

Columbus died Sept. 15, 2005 in Elk River. She was born June 9, 1921 in Red Lake Falls. During World War II, she worked at Lockheed as a riveter and was an active charter member of Epiphany Church.

She is survived by her children, Wayne (Sharon), Larry (Carol), Doug (Barbara), Donna (Dennis), Lee (Sandra), Kathleen (Peter) Theresa (Scott), Karen and Keith (Renee); 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; two brothers; and three sisters.

Interment was at Epiphany Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Cliff Fournier

Memorial service for Cliff Fournier, 62, Princeton, took place Sept. 22 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Bill Steinke officiated.

Fournier died Sept. 18, 2005 at Unity Hospital. He was born June 9, 1943 in Minneapolis to William and Lucille Fournier.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Beckie, Teri and Cliff (Maria); grandchildren, Korie, Samantha, Logan and Sasha Ann; sisters, Sue (Paul) and Cheryl; and brother, Ken (Mary).

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Anita Hand

Funeral service for Anita Larrise Hand, 52, Coon Rapids, took place Sept. 19 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids.

Hand died Sept. 14, 2005 in Coon Rapids. She was born April 6, 1953 in Louisville, Ky., and was employed in printing.

She is survived by her daughters, Heather Torelle (Raymond Laundenbach), Angela Duchene and Savannah Settlemire; grandchildren, Maria and Gianna Laudenbach; parents, James and Agnes Mae Hand; sister and brothers, Barbara Black, James Hand, Laurana Hanson (Glenn), Colette Howard (Michael) and Kevin Hand; and many other family and friends.

Pallbearers were James Jr. and Kevin Hand, Hugh and Michael Howard, Erik and Glen Hanson, Raymond Laudenbach and Richard Sher.

Interment was at Epiphany Cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Robert Lents

Funeral service for Robert Lents, 78, Blaine, took place Sept. 19 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Bishop Clarence St. John officiated.

Lents died Sept. 15, 2005 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Home, St. Paul. He was born Feb. 20, 1927 in Evansville, Ind., to Charles and Esther Elizabeth (Wilson) Lents. He was a retired School District 11 custodian and volunteer firefighter.

He is survived by his wife, Kay; daughters, Linda (Dave) Snyder, Lucy Gullickson, Laura (Mike) Dahmen, Leslie (Darryl) Elsenpeter, Sherry (Steve) Herrala, Lori and Victoria Lents; stepsons, Ed, Gary and Dave Julkowski; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Dyson; former wife, Kathryn Lents; and many friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Laura Mae Kelly and Charlotte; and stepdaughter, Debbie Nelson.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Susan Weber

Funeral service for Susan Weber, 62, New Brighton, took place Sept. 20 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Wehmann officiated.

Weber died Sept. 14, 2005. She was born Jan. 14, 1943 in St. Paul.

She is survived by her children, David (Vanessa), Jill Flanagan (Marc); their father, Donald; grandsons, Jonathan and Owen; and sisters and brothers, Elaine Kohn (Larry), Jack Weinmann (Jet), Robert Weinmann (Mitz), Jerry Weinmann (Barb), Janet Cummings (Bob), Chuck Weinmann (Lane) and Vicki Smoliak.

Interment was at Epiphany Cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
