Arnold Langmade

Funeral service for Arnold Woodrow 'Arnie' Langmade, 61, St. Francis, took place Nov. 17 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Members of the St. Francis American Legion Honor Squad officiated.

Langmade died Nov. 14, 2005 at his home. He was born July 13, 1944 in Elk River to Wayne and Edith (Holm) Langmade. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, member of the St. Francis American Legion, lifetime member of Kraus-Hartig VFW and lifetime employee of Federal Cartridge.

He is survived by his son, Todd (Jennifer) Senbger; grandchildren, Alex, Abigail and Samuel; brothers, Kenneth (Janette), Lyle (Shirley), Wayne (Judy); sisters, Gloria Yow, Agnes (Rueben) Landin, Betty (Merwin) Barth, Marian (Dave) Davison, Evelyn Babbitt, Eleanore Bakken and Marilyn (James) Lee; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Edith.

Interment was at Oakview Cemetery, St. Francis. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Mary McFarland

Funeral service for Mary G. McFarland, 75, Minneapolis, took place Nov. 15 at Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids. Deacon Dominic Ehrmantraut officiated.

McFarland died Nov. 7, 2005 in Minneapolis. She was born Oct. 30, 1930 in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Martin and Viola Fodness.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Mitzo, Marijo (Ted) Flavion; sons, Michael McFarland, John McFarland; grandchildren, Ashley Flavion, Ted Flavion, Katherine Mitzo, Jessica Mitzo; great-grandchildren, Abigail Jun Mitzo; and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; and granddaughter, Jennifer.

Pallbearers were Ted and Teddy Flavion, Steve and Mike Anderson, Mike Johnson and Brad Laroque.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Emily Moore

Funeral service for Emily Bernice Moore, 79, Blaine, took place Nov. 15 at Christ Lutheran Church, Blaine. Rev. Dr. Margaret Guelker officiated.

Moore died Nov. 11, 2005 in Coon Rapids. She was born Oct. 6, 1926 in Minneapolis to John and Daisy Olson. She was a dance teacher.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald A. (Jack); son, Gerald (Debra) Moore; daughters, Teresa (Brian) Berglin, Linda Moore and Patricia Fuller; grandchildren, Keri, Gerald, Philip, Paul, Karen, Cheryl, Diane, Miranda and Dale; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Emil and Daisy I. Olson; brother, Leonard; and sisters, Lillian Adair, Louise Wedgwood and Vivian Randolph.

Pallbearers were Jerry Moore, Paul and Philip Berglin, Dale and Miranda Heinen and Karen, Cheryl and Diane Fuller.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Carol Olson

Funeral service for Carol Olson, 66, East Bethel, took place Nov. 18 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, East Bethel. Rev. Dennis Wright officiated.

Olson died Nov. 14, 2005 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis.

She was born Dec. 22, 1938 in Duluth to Russell and Beatrice Scherer. She was a nurse at Metropolitan Medical Center and then at Unity Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Ron of East Bethel; children, Brett Olson of East Bethel, Kurt Amy) Kiecker-Olson of Andover, Brenda Sue (Tony) Ciardelli of Duluth; grandchildren, Justin, Killian and Kali Jo; brother, Jim (Carol) Scherer of Hartford, Conn.; and by many other relatives and friends.

Interment was at Our Saviour's Lutheran Cemetery, Ham Lake. Arrangements were by Strike Funeral Home - Isanti Chapel.

Norman Schmidt

Funeral service for Norman E. Schmidt, 87, Coon Rapids, took place Nov. 17 at King of Glory Lutheran Church. Rev. David Hintze officiated.

Schmidt died Nov. 14, 2005 in Coon Rapids. He was born Sept. 14, 1918 in Annandale to August and Louise Schmidt. He was a retired postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service.

He is survived by his wife, Dora; sons, John and Jim (Paula); daughters, Joyce (Tony) Gilman, Joanne (Ken) Harste and Julie (Syeve) Pitt; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Orville (Julia); and other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Louise; and sister, Elvira Barnes.

Pallbearers were Brian and Cory Gilman, Dan Schmidt, Aaron and Jake Pitt and Tom Streff.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Katherine Carlson

Funeral service for Katherine Hanson Carlson, Coon Rapids, took place June 16 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Mankato.

Carlson died June 13, 2006 at Park River Estates Care Center, Coon Rapids.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherill Bright and husband Richard of San Antonio, Texas, and Lois Wagner and husband Dean of Andover; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Lucille Hanson, Herb and Lenore Hanson; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Lorraine and Harold Bartleson, Joseph and Ralph Brighton, Rosalia and Sewell Nelson, Lenore and Charles Peterson and Myrtle and Albert Olson.

Interment was at Oakland Cemetery, Forest City, Iowa. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Cathryn Crooks

Funeral service for Cathryn H. Crooks, 96, Fridley, took place June 17, 2006 at Church of the Epiphany, Coon Rapids.

She is survived by her sister, Esther Meurer; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald.

Interment was at Markville Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Allen Curtis

Funeral service for Dr. Allen Dale Curtis, 70, Coon Rapids, took place June 23 at First Baptist Church of St. Francis. Rev. James C. Snow officiated.

Curtis died June 20, 2006 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Feb. 19, 1936 in Chrisman, Ill., to Byron and Myrtle (Mason) Curtis and was a minister at many Baptist churches.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; and children, Shannon and Michael Curtis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Myrtle Curtis; and sister, Barbara.

Pallbearers were Dennis and Lowell Miller, Frank Cheatham, David Kirby, Justin Patrick and Wes Hallberg.

Interment was at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Northfield. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Carl Foster

Funeral service for Carl Douglas Foster, 70, Blaine, took place June 26 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Larry Willman officiated.

Foster died June 22, 2006 at United Hospital, St. Paul. He was born Nov. 15, 1935 in Minneapolis to Carl Eric and Mildred Mae (Comeau) Foster. He was an insurance agent for American Family Insurance and a member of the Coon Rapids American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; children, Victoria (Richard) Slack, Carl (Lisa) Foster, George (Barbara) Foster; grandchildren, Bill, Jennifer, Dianna, Anna and Olivia; great-granddaughter, Isabelle; sisters, Pat (Tony) Bennett and Kathy (Doug) Thee; special uncle, George Foster; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mildred Foster; and brother, Bruce.

Pallbearers were Hanley Wiig, Steven and Christopher Bennett and Daniel Mulheran.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Charles Hansen

Funeral service for Charles E. Hansen, 70, Andover, took place June 25 at Grace Lutheran Church, Andover.

Hansen died June 20, 2006. He was born July 9, 1935. He was employed at Clark Engineering Corp., Minneapolis, from 1966 until he retired in 1997, serving as president and chief executive officer from 1986 to 1997.

He is survived by his wife, Twila; daughters, Stacey (Randall) Hanson, Melanie (James) Krom and Sarah (Richard) Isle; grandchildren, Jacob and Riley Hanson, Emma and Noah Krom and Jeremy and Charles David Isle; brothers and sisters, Leslie and Howard Hansen, Joanne Hansen, Judith Durand and Nadine Sinness.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kim; and parents, Carl and Edith Hansen.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Valentina Helmin

Funeral service for Valentina T. Helmin, 74, Fridley, took place June 28 at St. William's Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph Whalen officiated.

Helmin died June 24, 2006. She was born Feb. 14, 1932 in Foley and was a typesetter.

She is survived by her sons and daughters, Dale Helmin, Lynda Kulaga (Jim), Jeff (Carole), Sharon Koch (Brian), Dawn Garell (Ken); special friend, Vern Harjes; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Sylvester (Reno) and Fermin (Mary Jane) Gapinski; and sisters, Mary Huliczka (Al) and Albina Ackerman (Gilbert).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Severyn; brothers, Norbert and Fabian Gapinski; and sisters, Florence Kujawa, Tootie Heinen and Delores Olsen.

Pallbearers were Mike Helmin, Scott Kulaga, Travis Koch, Dave Morgan, Dan Olson and Todd Gapinski.

Interment was at Epiphany Cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
