Blanche Jacobson

Funeral service for Blanche Jacobson, 66, Oak Park, took place June 23 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Foley. Rev. Michael Dagel officiated.

Jacobson died June 19, 2006 at the Foley Nursing Center. She was born Sept. 30, 1939 in Princeton to Denzel and Minerva (Peterson) Oakes. She had worked at May Printing, Hoffman Engineering in Anoka and was presently working as a seamstress for Stearns Manufacturing.

She is survived by her husband, Lyle of Oak Park; sons and daughters, Richard Orton Jr., (Lorie) of Foley, Mike Orton (Laura) of Milaca, Denise O'Konek (Darrel) of Oak Park, Linda Huro (Robert) of Brooke Park; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Herold Oakes of Big Lake; and sister, Myrtle Anderson of Zimmerman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Richard Lyle Smelter; and brothers, Charles and William.

Interment was at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements were by Foley Funeral Home, Foley.

Martha Lindberg

Funeral service for Martha Pauline Lindberg, 74, Champlin, took place June 24 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Bob Johnson officiated.

Lindberg died June 20, 2006 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Feb. 17, 1932 in Sacret Heart to John and Agnes (Svobada) Tomes.

She is survived by her children, Debbie (Mike) Geagan, Al (Laura) Haubrick, Bruce (Patty) Haubrick, Dana Haubrick and Mike Lindberg; grandchildren, Shelly Fisher, Amy Geagan, Kelly (Matt) Fahland, Luke Haubrick, Darcy Haubrick, Heather Haubrick, Tiffany Haubrick, Jenny (Jason) Edwards; great-grandchildren, Clara Lukas, Reisch and Maddy Fahland, Dyllon and Julia Edwards; brothers, Ervin (Tina) Tomes and Ernie Tomes; and sisters, Irene Peterson and Florence Schroeder.

Interment was private. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Lillian Murphy

Funeral service for Lillian A. Murphy, 91, Andover, took place June 17, 2006 at Anoka United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Harold; brother, Harry Stohl; nephew, David Stohl (Valerie); nieces, Susan Wozney and Miriam Stohl; stepchildren, Marlene Hentges and Ron Murphy (Joyce); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends.

Interment was at Hillside Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Joseph Prause and Marian Prause

Funeral service for Joseph C. Prause, 87, and Marian M. Prause, 88, formerly of Coon Rapids, took place June 16 at Coon Rapids United Methodist Church.

Joseph Prause died March 14, 2006 in Mission, Texas. Marian Prause died June 13 in Forest Lake. He was a former chief building official for the city of Coon Rapids.

They are survived by their children, Marijo (Wayne), Joan (Joe), Richard (Alberta); and 20 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Glenn Swenson

Funeral service for Glenn Swenson, 62, Coon Rapids, took place June 22 at Church of the Epiphany, Coon Rapids. Rev. Chue Vang officiated.

Swenson died June 18, 2006. He was born June 15, 1944 in Breckenridge. He served in the military and was employed by FMC/BAE Systems for over 30 years.

He is survived by his children, Jason (Pam) Swenson and Amber (Chad) Swenson; grandson, Travis Swenson; brothers, Pat and Sheldon; sisters, Linnea (Ole) Swenson-Thomasen and Laure (Jerry) Swenson-Barboza; nieces, Michelle, Cherie and Heather; nephews, Brett, Chad, Michael, Erik and Kyle; and by many friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Mercedes Swenson; and brother, Merle Swenson.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Melvin Thelen

Funeral service for Melvin M. Thelen, 81, Melrose, took place June 27 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Melrose. Revs. Vince Lieser and Rev. Ken Thielman officiated.

Thelen died June 24, 2006 at the Melrose Area Hospital. He was born April 27, 1925 in Melrose to John and Mary (Goihl) Thelen. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was employed by Anoka State Hospital where he was a baker for 30 years.

He is survived by his brothers, Clarence Thelen, and Herb Thelen (Della), both of Melrose; and sister-in-law, Jeanette Thelen of Albert Lea.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Thelen; brothers, Sylvester, Edmund, and Al Thelen; and sister, Tillie Poepping.

Pallbearers were Jim, Tom, Neil, Greg, John and Jeanne Thelen.

Interment was in the parish cemetery. Arrangements were by Patton-Schad Funeral Home, Melrose.

Irvin Van Bergen

Funeral service for Irvin Albert Van Bergen. 82, Coon Rapids took place June 26 at Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Norman R. Berg officiated.

Van Bergen died June 20, 2006. He was born July 11, 1923 in Minneapolis to Albert A. and Tillie (Gavanda) Van Bergen. He was a retired postal carrier with the U.S. Postal Service.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; children, Steven (Kathy), Mark (Linda), Bonnie, Nancy (John); grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, Lara, Daniel, Jill and Erik; great-grandchildren, Alex, Emily, Jack, Gannon, Audrey and Erika; brother, James; sister, Lois; brother-in-law, LeRoy; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel; brother, Richard; and sister, Joan.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Carole Dally

Funeral service for Carole Marie Dally, 52, Beaver City, Neb., formerly of Coon Rapids, took place June 29 at Blessed Fellowship of Christ our Redeemer, East Bethel. Rev. Deanann Lisay officiated.

Dally died June 23, 2006 in Beaver City. She was born July 6, 1953 in Brainerd to Robert and Catherine Thorne. She started Beaver Valley Soap Company in 2000.

She is survived by her husband, Rick of Beaver City; son, Ben Dally of Beaver City; daughters, Leah and Lydia Dally of Beaver City; and brothers, Bob and wife Jeane Thorne of Bemidji and Jim and wife Mary Thorne of Crookston.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers were Delbert Beins, Ben Dally, Calvin and Lynn Perkins and Bob and Jim Thorne.

Interment was at Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery, Pequot Lakes. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Russell Josie

Funeral service for Russell Collins Josie, 80, Ham Lake, took place July 1 Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Josie died June 28, 2006. He was born Nov. 11, 1925 and was a retired procurement specialist.

He is survived by his daughters and son, Marie Josie-Smith (Stephen), Michael, Aileen, Teresa and Lauren; grandchildren, Travis, Jackie, Sara, Jacob and Kaytle; sister, Donna Jean Burnham; special friend, Pat Klucsar; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife. Kathleen; parents, George and Antoinette; sister, Florette, Laurenta, Irene and Margaret; and brothers, Armand, Floyd and Gerald.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Carol Mailen

Memorial service for Carol Marie (Palm) Mailen, 54, formerly of Anoka, took place July 1 at the Chapel of Marrs-Jones-Newby, Bastrop.

Mailen died June 27, 2006. She was born Nov. 9, 1951 in Anoka to Robert and Edith Palm. She moved to Texas with her husband Douglas Mailen in 1983.

She is survived by her husband, Doug Mailen; daughters, Rachel Mailen and Amy Carter; four brothers; and five sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Arrangements were by Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home.

Marian Sha

Memorial service for Marian Rose Sha, 80, rural Vergas, formerly of Anoka, took place July 5 at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids. Rev. Jim Raisanen officiated.

Sha died June 30, 2006 at Pelican Valley Nursing Home. She was born March 14, 1926, in Norwegian Grove Township to Ole and Marit (Resset) Osten. She and her husband Richard moved to Anoka in 1959, where she was active in community theater, helping to found the Anoka Theatre Ensemble. She was accompanist for the Choraliers choral group, church choirs and soloists and was church organist for Grace and Glen Gary Lutheran churches.

She is survived by her children, Ronald (Laurel) Sha of Hillsborough, N.C.; Kristi (Richard) Class of Janesville, Patti (Ron) Cooke of New Zealand, Janet (Gary) Hill of St. Paul and Sara Dalen of Moorhead; grandchildren, Hilary (Mark) Macenas, Marta Cooke, Grant Sha, Sanna Cooke, Zac Dalen and Anna Rose Dalen; sister, Marlys (Charles) Grabarkewitz of Pelican Rapids; brother, Harold (Karen) Osten of Pelican Rapids; aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Richard.

Arrangements were by Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids.

Susan Strohbeen

Funeral service for Susan Linn Strohbeen, 52, Minneapolis, took place July 5 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Bill Eaves officiated.

Strohbeen died June 29, 2006. She was born June 7, 1954 in Sioux City, Iowa, to Vincent Adolph and Nellie Belle (Olmstead) Strohbeen. She was a child psychologist at the Wilder Foundation.

She is survived by her mother, Nellie; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Interment was at St. Fridolin Cemetery, Champlin. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
