Custer Syverson

Funeral service for Custer E. 'Sy' Syverson, 86, Coon Rapids, took place July 14 at King of Grace Lutheran Church, Golden Valley.

Syverson died July 9, 2006. He was born Oct. 16, 1919 in Ulen. He was a U.S. Navy airplane mechanic who served in the South Pacific, sold insurance for AAL and was a retired Sears technician.

He is survived by his daughters, Cindy Syverson and Nina (Marti) Povlitski; grandchildren, Marina, Megan and Melanie Povlitski; sisters, Noma Hewitt and Winona Hansen; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva; sisters, Rhada Anderson, Nellie Steward and Maudie Harris; and brother, Schuyler.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Dale Alaspa

Memorial service for Dale Alaspa, 44, Circle Pines, will take place Monday, July 31, 11 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, Big Lake.

Alaspa died July 19, 2006. He was born Oct. 31, 1961 in Minneapolis.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Richard Anderson

Funeral service for Richard V. Anderson, 79, Coon Rapids, took place July 18 at Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids. Rev. Del Schnaidt officiated.

Anderson died July 13, 2006. He was born Jan. 29, 1927 in Harwood, N.D., to Rueban and Harriet Anderson. He was a retired construction building inspector.

He is survived by his children, Donna (Jerry) Fingal, Jeannie (Terry) Fryer, Jerry (Candie), Michael (Karen), Julie (Terry) Christensen, Cherryl (Frank) Chapman, Dan (Kari); son-in-law, Tom Samson; many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; and daughter, Katie Samson.

Pallbearers were Nathan Christensen, Scott Fryer, Justen Anderson, Derek Fingal and Rick and Rob Samson.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home.

Robert Burbach

Memorial service for Robert John Burbach, 81, Coon Rapids, took place July 20 at Faith Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids.

Burbach died July 17, 2006. He was born July 1, 1925 in St. Paul. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a resident of Coon Rapids for 48 years.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma; son, Dan; daughter and son-in-law, Darla and Bill Lindquist; grandchildren, Anna and husband Justin Grimm, Sarah and Levi Lindquist; great-grandchildren, Logan and Payton Grimm; sister, Dorothy Carlson; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Cecelia Burbach; brother-in-law, Bernie Maher; sister-in-law, Shirley Burbach; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dianne; brother, Ralph; sister, Marian Maher; and brother-in-law, Don Carlson.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Phillip Caldeen

Funeral service for Phillip K. Caldeen, 72, St. Paul, took place July 26 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Caldeen died July 23, 2006 at Twin Rivers Care Center, Anoka. He was born Jan. 2, 1934 in Evanston, Ill., to Carl P. and Anne L. (Gustafson) Caldeen and was a retired Baptist minister.

He is survived by his children, Linnea Caldeen of Arizona and Michael (Jill) Caldeen of Ham Lake; grandchildren, Lisa, Nate, Nick and Noah; and former wife, Elizabeth Hope.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Lee DeCamp

Funeral service for Lee W. DeCamp, 79, Coon Rapids, took place July 21 at Church of St. Stephen, Anoka.

DeCamp died July 18, 2006. He was born Nov. 29, 1926.

He is survived by his children, Mary (Bob) Peterson, Mike (Roxi) DeCamp, Steve DeCamp, Kathy (Bryan) Robertson, Mark (Michelle) DeCamp, Tom DeCamp and Rebecca DeCamp; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Dennis DeGrote

Funeral service for Dennis Alan DeGrote, 55, Coon Rapids, took place July 18 at Faith Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids.

DeGrote died July 14, 2006. He was born July 8, 1951.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughter, Katie; son, Tony (Mandi); grandson, Blake; parents, Merle and Rosella; brothers, Doug (Mary) and Dave; mother-in-law, Christina White; in-laws, Dave (Krista) White, John Stephen White, Mary Doberstein, Terri White, Jim White; and many other relatives and friends.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

LilaJean Ewald

Funeral service for LilaJean Ewald, 78, Coon Rapids, took place July 22 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Ewald died July 16, 2006. She was born Aug. 7, 1927. She was a member of DAR and Sweet Adelines barbershop chorus and was church secretary for 28 years at Anoka United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the handbell choir for 30 years.

She is survived by is husband, William; sons, Brad, Scott (SuYe), Mark (Pat); grandchildren, Anita, Shana, Brandon and Alex; and great-grandchildren, Chantel, Aaron and Duane.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and four siblings.

Interment was at Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Craig Johnson

Funeral service for Craig Steven Johnson, 39, Ramsey, took place July 21, 2006 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids.

Johnson was born July, 29, 1966.

He is survived by his mother, Bonnie; brother, Mark (Jackie) Johnson; sisters, Pamela (Brad) Erickson, Denise (Bob) Cheney; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert.

Interment was at Finlayson Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Michael Olsen

Funeral service for Michael Brandon Olsen, 23 months, Coon Rapids, took place July 19, 2006 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

He died July 16, 2006.

He is survived by his mother, Lacey Laakso; father, Brandon Olsen; twin brother, Morgan; sister, Paisley; and a large extended family.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Valerie Nyland

Memorial service for Valerie J. Nyland, 58, Blaine took place July 27 at Peace Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Nancy Bence officiated.

Nyland died July 18, 2006 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Nov. 18, 1947 in Crookston to Donald and Lillian Wahl.

She is survived by her husband, Norris D.; daughters, Lori (Rich LaChapelle) Nyland and Alanna LeMieux; grandsons, Jeffery and Justin Nyland; brother, Gary (Portia) Wahl; and sister, Donna (Arnold Anderson) Sorum.

Interment was in Two Harbors. Arrangements were by Kozlak-Radulovich Blaine Chapel.

Mary Poitra

Memorial service for Mary H. Poitra, 74, Coon Rapids, formerly of Great Falls, Mont., took place July 22 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Poitra died July 18, 2006. She was born May 11, 1932.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
