Marlene Houliston
Funeral service for Marlene L. Houliston, 55, Coon Rapids, took place Sept. 26, 2006 at Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Blaine Chapel.
Houliston was a 17-year employee of the University of St. Thomas.
She is survived by her husband, Nick; siblings, Tom Nelson, Vivian (Tom) White; nieces and nephews, Erick (Nicky) Nelson, Karin Nelson, Kristine (Shawn) Williams, Jacob White; grand-nephew, Brennen; and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Erick and Lula Nelson.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home.
Shirley Johnson
Memorial service for Shirley A. Johnson, 80, Coon Rapids, took place Oct. 6 at Faith Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids.
Johnson died Oct. 1, 2006. She was born Sept. 28, 1926 in Duluth and was a retired para-librarian.
She is survived by her children, Brian and Mary Ellen, Lisa, Paul; and grandchildren, Daniella, Jozie, Joseph and Theresa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; and brother, Harley Davidson.
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Willard Larson
Funeral service for Willard Larson, 90, Ham Lake, took place Oct. 4 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, East Bethel.
Larson died Oct. 1, 2006.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Gary (Ellen), James, Daniel (Jan) and Fred (Lois); grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Elizabeth, Billy, Betsy, Rebecca, Natalie, Angela and Hanna; and siblings, Edward, LeRoy, Irene Anderson and Verlo (Kay).
Arrangements were by Mattson Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Grace Madison
Funeral service for Grace Emma Madison, 92, Arden Hills, formerly of Coon Rapids, took place Oct. 10 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Dennis Zehren officiated.
Madison died Oct. 5, 2006 in Arden Hills. She was born July 15, 1914 in Minneapolis to Walter and Matilda Theis. She was a retired administrative assistant to a board of education.
She is survived by her son, Dennis (Anne); daughter, Diane (Tom) Hinds; grandchildren, Kimberly (Ivan) John, Kathryn (Jim) Reed, Mark (Lisl) Hinds and Karen Hinds; great-grandchildren, Michael, Connor and Daniel Reed and Grace John; sisters, Lorraine 'Peg' Theis and Carol (John) Carlson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter S.
Interment was at Epiphany Cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.
Shirley Mann
Private service took place for Shirley Mann, 73, Coon Rapids.
Mann died Sept. 30, 2006. She was born Jan. 7, 1933.
Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Jeanne Marjama
Funeral service for Jeanne Marie Marjama, 45, Coon Rapids, took place Sept. 26 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Bill Steinke officiated.
Marjama died Sept. 20, 2006. She was born Nov. 20, 1960 in Worland, Wyo.
She is survived by her sons, Nicholas, Anthony 'AJ,' Jesse and Tyler; parents, John and Lola Halseth; brother, Don (Margaret) Halseth; and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Scott Harvey, Robert Garves, James Peterson, Bruce Stromgren, Jeff Meek, Terry Dwyer and Dennis Richardson.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
Barbara Mathers
Memorial service for Barbara Jane Mathers (Dick), 86, Robbinsdale, took place Oct. 7 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Mathers died Oct. 3, 2006. She was born May 8, 1920.
She is survived by her children, Sheila Mathers, Patrick (MaryAnne), Timothy (Cathy); eight children; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Richard (Charlotte) Dick.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John.
Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
Arthur Monson
Funeral service for Arthur O. Monson 'Halfmoon,' 78, Coon Rapids, took place Oct. 9 at Sunset Cemetery Chapel, Minneapolis. Rev. Del Schnaidt officiated.
Monson died Oct. 4, 2006 in Minneapolis. He was born Dec. 18, 1927 in Balsam, Wis., to Thomas and Ingabor Monson. He was a World War II Army veteran, retired from H&W; Trucking, a country music artist for over 40 years and a member of the Coon Rapids American Legion and Kraus-Hartig VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Randy (Judy) Monson of Blaine, Robin (Chuck) Gangler of Louisville, Ky., Sherri (Joe) Schroeder of Monticello and Sharon Cronin of Aurora; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters; brothers; and great-great-grandson, Tristen Carl Peterson.
Pallbearers were Brian and Chuck Gangler, Brad Erickson, Steffen Schroeder, Jason Rude and Ryan Kuhlman.
Interment was at Sunset Cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.
Mildred Orttel
Funeral service for Mildred Esther Orttel, 90, Andover, took place Oct. 9 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Orttel died Oct. 6, 2006. She was born Dec. 13, 1915.
She is survived by her sons, Dave (Louise), Gary (Lil), Ken (Cheryl), Clayton, Danny and Steve (Dori); daughters, Karen, Patty (Chess), Bev (Tim) and Judy (David); 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ardis and Vione; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Sr.; and daughter-in-law, Becky.
Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.
Daniel Piotrowski
Funeral service for Daniel Piotrowski, 79, Rogers, took place Oct. 10 at Catholic Church of St. Mary, Queen of Peace, Rogers.
Piotrowski died Oct. 6, 2006. He was born June 3, 1927.
He is survived by his children, Debby (Ray) Frey, Thomas (Judie), Sandy (Neil) Weber, Jeff (Lisa); nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild expected in January; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine; sons, Daniel and James; parents; two sisters; and a brother.
Interment was at Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Irving Sauer
Funeral service for Irving H. Sauer, 84, Little Falls, formerly of Coon Rapids, took place Oct. 9 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Little Falls. Rev. Nicholas Landsberger officiated.
Sauer died Oct. 4, 2006 at St. Otto's Care, Little Falls. He was born March 16, 1922 in Buckman to Joseph and Trace (Moser) Sauer. He lived in Coon Rapids from 1958 until he retired in 1987, working for the Twin City Army Ammunition Plant and Federal Cartridge.
He is survived by his children, Geri Wicht and husband Arnie of Anoka, Mary Ann Lund and husband Loren of Isle, Don Sauer and wife Deb of Coon Rapids, Tim Sauer and wife Belinda of Cambridge; grandchildren, Debbie, Mark, Michelle, Dallas and Dain; great-grandchildren, Jillian, Derek, Aaron, Kelie, Carrie and Austin; one great-great-grandchild; special friend and companion, Anna DeFoe of Swanville; sister, Vera Erickson and husband John of Cannon Falls; brother, Harvey Sauer of Little Falls; in-law, Elmer Girtz, Bill Girtz, Jackie Girtz, Jayne Girtz and Celine Guck; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Bernice Girtz, Eleanor and Norma; parents, Joseph and Trace Sauer; in-laws, William and Anna (Kobilka) Girtz, Markus 'Stubby' Girtz and Delores (Czech) Sauer.
Pallbearers were Jeff Price, Richie and Ron Sauer, John Erickson, Dave Kimmes and Dan Guck.
Interment was at Epiphany Cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Shelley Funeral Chapel, Little Falls.
