John Peterson

Memorial services for John E. Peterson, 72, Bethel, took place Jan. 13 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Richard Miller officiated.

Peterson died Jan. 7, 2004 at Lexington Health Care, St. Paul. He was born Jan. 10, 1931 in Chicago, Ill., and was a retired metal welder.

He is survived by his children, Deborah (Steve) St. Hillaire, Michael, Thomas; grandson, Nicholas; brother, Robert; sisters, Dorothy, Elaine and Gladys; and nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; sister, Mildred; and brothers, Donald, James and Richard.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Roscoe Schwieger

Funeral services for Roscoe Schwieger, 83, Andover, took place Jan. 8 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Dennis Heiden officiated.

Schwieger died Dec. 31, 2003 in Coon Rapids. He was born June 27, 1920 in Fairmont, and was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired construction custom builder.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; children, Sharon Schwieger, Nance Volker, Sandra Hobbs, Daniel Schwieger, Dennis Schwieger, Susan Jude, Debra Bray and Cynthia Buchholz; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother.

Pallbearers were Tom, Jared and Sue Jude, Daniel Schwieger, John Hatch and John Buchholz. Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Schwieger and Jisell Jude.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Theresa Strohmayer

Funeral services for Theresa B. Strohmayer, 89, Dalbo, took place Jan. 14 at St. Joseph's Church, Lino Lakes. Rev. Ken Pierre officiated.

Strohmayer died Jan. 11, 2004. She was born Sept. 6, 1914 in Circle Pines to Michael and Mary Flor.

She is survived by her children, Steve (Pat), Theresa (James) Weitjen, Tony (Marie), Kathy Jovanovich, Cecelia (Delbert) Steinmetz, Marcy (Bernie) Sylvester, Virginia Strohmayer, Kate (Erv) Somerville, Veronica (Dennis) Johnson, John (Kathy), Rose (Dwayne) Knox and Helen (Keith) Barros; 53 grandchildren; 89 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Alice and Isabelle Flor.

She was preceded in death her husband, Steve; and sons, David and James.

Pallbearers were grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Interment was at St. Joseph's Church Cemetery, Lino Lakes. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Lorraine Anderson

Memorial services for Lorraine V. Anderson, 82, Ramsey, formerly of Elk River, took place Jan. 17 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Deacon Dominic Ermantraut officiated.

Anderson died Jan. 12, 2004 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Sept. 12, 1921 in Minneapolis.

She is survived by her husband, Max R.; children, Judy France (Dennis), Richard Anderson (Belen), Max G. Anderson (Nancy), Elizabeth Anderson; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Kelly Balluff

Funeral services for Kelly Ann Balluff, 38, Oak Grove, took place Jan. 19 at Church of St. Patrick of Cedar Creek.

Balluff died Jan. 16, 2004. She was born May 18, 1965 in Minneapolis to Gerald Francis and Kathleen Mary (nee Regan) Dunn, and was a computer programmer at Prudential Insurance.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Francis Balluff; sons, Alex and Chris Balluff; parents, Gerald and Kathleen Dunn; sister, Brenda (Ken) Wutsch; and brother, Patrick Dunn.

Pallbearers were Joy Higgins, Wendy Holmstrom, Patty Kesler and Lois Fredell.

Interment was at St. Patrick's Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Richard Bloom

Funeral services for Richard William Bloom, 79, Tamarack, formerly of Fridley and Worthington, took place Jan. 16 at Constance Free Church. Rev. Randy Discher officiated.

Bloom died Jan. 13, 2004 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Nov, 26, 1924 in Worthington to John William and Mildred Mabel (nee Coyer) Bloom, and was a retired heavy equipment operator for the city of Fridley.

He is survived by his children, Keith Bloom and wife Jayne of Pine City, Karol Bentley and husband Frank of Andover, Karen Baehr and husband Art of Robertsdale, Ala, , Kurt Bloom and wife Dee of Tamarack; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Juanita Valine of Murrieta, Calif; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene.

Interment was private. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Dennis Ehman

Funeral services for Dennis Everette Ehman, 69, Isanti, formerly of Zimmerman, took place Jan., 22 at Strike Funeral Home - Isanti Chapel. Rev. LeRoy Scheumann officiated.

Ehman died Jan. 17, 2004 at Cambridge Medical Center. He was born June 22, 1934 in St. Paul to Byron and Viola Ehman. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea, worked in construction and electroplating, ran his own locksmithing and upholstery businesses, was a VFW, American Legion and Lions club member, and served on the Sherburne County Planning Commission.

He is survived by his wife, Toni; son, Mike (Mary) Ehman of Princeton; daughters, Laura (Brian) Seim of Watertown, S.D., Deb (Don) Brisse of Andover, Dawn Sanford (Pete Hall) of St. Cloud; sister, Rose Marie Brashier of Madison, S.D.; grandchildren, Rick (Jen) Ehman, Jennifer Carlson, Christine and Tom Ehman, Sue Brisse, Mark and Nick Sanford and Tanya Hall; great-grandsons, Jonah and Jordan Carlson; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Viola Ehman; and sisters, Carol Brown and Vergie Michlitsch.

Pallbearers were Don Brisse, Rick Ehman, Peter Hall, Mark and Nick Sanford and Brian Seim.

Interment was at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, St. Cloud. Arrangements were by Strike Funeral Home - Isanti Chapel.

Lois Freyholtz

Memorial services for Lois Georgia Freyholtz, 73, Coon Rapids, formerly of Ramsey, took place Jan. 18 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Ramsey, Rev. Hilton Hammer officiated.

Freyholtz died Jan. 13, 2004 at Park River Estates Care Center, Coon Rapids. She was born Aug. 26, 1930 in Minneapolis to Stanley Kuss and Georgia May (nee Dunmead) Gregor. She was a retired bookkeeper at a car dealer.

She is survived by her son, Mark (Susan) Haida of Ramsey; daughters, Joan Haida of Ramsey and Jane (Peter) DelVacho of California; stepdaughter, LaVonne (Bill) Holmes of Andover; stepson, Terry (Michelle) Freyholtz of Ham Lake; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins; and other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Freyholtz; parents, Stanley and Georgia Gregor; and sister, Marcia Jurkovski.

Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Elmer Hiatt

Funeral services for Elmer 'Bud' Hiatt, 81, Anoka, formerly of Pelican Rapids, took place Jan. 17 at Grove Lake Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids. Rev. Ken Vollmers officiated.

Hiatt died Jan. 13, 2004 at Mercy Hospital. He was born March 3, 1922 in Dunseith, N.D., the son of John and Margaret (Randall) Hiatt. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II and worked in construction.

He is survived by his daughters, Gloria (Bruce) Truax of Anoka and Linda (Craig) Euneau of Hayward, Wis.; sons, Gary (Connie) Hiatt of Fargo, N, D., Michael (Patti) Hiatt of Anoka, Mark (Barbara) Maland of Minot, N.D., and David Hiatt of Burnsville; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Eleanore (Elwood) Fauske of Bottineau, N.D., Dorothy Swanson of Moorhead and Florance Dahl of Anchorage, Alaska; and brother, Howard (Vida) Hiatt of Bottineau, N.D.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Margaret and Helen.

Pallbearers were Bruce Truax, Russell and Brian Fauske, Roland and Randy Larson and Mark Satter.

Interment was at Grove Lake Cemetery, Pelican Rapids. Arrangements were by Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids.

Melvin Jacobson

Memorial services for Melvin O. 'Red' Jacobson, 87, Albertville, formerly of the Anoka area, took place Jan. 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Monticello. Rev. Bruce Miller officiated.

Jacobson died Jan. 10, 2004 at North Memorial Medical Center, Robbinsdale. He was born July 26, 1916 in Vinita, Okla., to Walfred and Mabel (Bergstrom) Jacobson and was a mechanical engineer.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Jerry (Karen), Thomas (Renee); daughter, JoAnn (Gary) Rivers; brother, Gordon; sister, Eleanor; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walfred and Mabel; sister, Evelyn Holt; and brother, Phillip.

Interment was private. Arrangements were by Peterson-Grismo Chapel, Monticello.

Robert Hanson

Funeral services for Robert A. Hanson, 83, Anoka, took place Jan. 16 at Gearhart Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Norman Berg officiated.

Hanson died Jan. 13, 2004 in Fridley. He was born Aug. 2, 1920 in Duluth to George Hanson and Helena Myers and was employed in sales.

He is survived by his sons, Tom (Linda), Dean (Lynda), Randy; and grandchildren, Chad, Lee, and Marnie.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Inga; brother, George; and special friend, Dottie Becker.

Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
