Rose Julig

Funeral services for Rose Marie 'Sue' Julig, 61, Anoka, took place Jan. 17 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Kari L.S. Bahe officiated.

Julig died Jan. 12, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester. She was born Feb. 11, 1942 in Superior, Wis., to Woodrow Wilson and Marie Marit (nee Leland) Franklin. She was an accounting clerk at Brookdale Dodge and a member of the Twin City Poodle Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Newcombe; granddaughters, Nicole and Andrea-Rose Newcombe; mother, Marie M. Roberts; brothers, Donald (Patricia) Dennis (Sue), and Douglas Roberts; dearest friend, Eva Marie Mitchell; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carl; and father, Woodrow Franklin.

Pallbearers were Donald, Dennis and Douglas Roberts, Paul Rowe, LeRoy Visnovec and Mike Bjorge.

Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home

Bud Lafferty

Visitation for Bud Walter Lafferty, 80, Blaine, took place Jan. 15 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids, .

Lafferty died Jan. 13, 2004 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Aug. 26, 1923 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was a retired U.S, Postal Service clerk.

He is survived by his children, Colleen (Dale) Hovind, Michael (Cynthia); grandchildren, Larry Hovind, Sean Lafferty, Jessie Shutes and Jennifer Lafferty; four great-grandchildren; and special friend, Betty Welsh.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Myron Malecha

Funeral services for Dr. Myron Joseph Malecha, 57, Isanti, will take place tomorrow (Saturday, Jan. 24), 10:30 a.m., at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Isanti. Revs. Jose Edayadiyil, Richard McGuire and Frank Tomasiewitz will officiate.

Malecha died Jan. 19, 2004. He was born Oct. 26, 1946 to Joseph and Rose Malecha and practiced psychiatry in the northern suburbs, including Anoka and Coon Rapids.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy (Hillsheim) Malecha; sons, Steve (Amy) Chesney, Joseph and Matthew; daughters, Lisa Machuka and Katchen; stepson, Eric Odegaard; brother, Dr. Gary (Linda) Malecha; sister, Jeannie (Melvin) Malecha; granddaughter, Erinne; parents, Joseph and Rose Malecha; and many other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Matthew Dempsey, Nicholas Fuhol, Ronald Hanson, Fred Hertwig, Jerroll Hillsheim, Jeffery Price, Mark Pochernic and Gregory Sitka.

Interment will be in East Bradford Cemetery. Arrangements are by Strike Funeral Home - Isanti Chapel.

Cleo Martin

Funeral services for Cleo Marie Martin, 85, Coon Rapids, took place Jan. 16 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Thomas Kunnel officiated.

Martin died Jan. 12, 2004 at Camilia Rose Convalescent Center, Coon Rapids. She was born Sept. 18, 1918 in Cando, N.D., to Max and Laura Aurora (nee Hinton) LeBeau. She had lived in Coon Rapids for 50 years and was retired as an operator at Blueprint Reproduction.

She is survived by her daughter, Lorene (Wayne) Johnson and their children Michelle Kissel, Gina Bridgeman, Robin Sheehy and Denise Adler; son, Vince (Diane) Martin and their children Brent and Paul; daughter, Jackie (Jim) Ernst and their children Mark, Justin and Julie; daughter, Geri (Ron) Knutson and son Jason; son, Joe Martin and his children Luke and Sara; great-grandchildren, Monique, Melina, Matt, Michael, Jonathan, Kristi, Dustin, Briana, James, Abby, J.T., Dennis, Derrick, Sydney and Haily; and great-great-granddaughter, Meadow.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; and parents.

Pallbearers were Vince, Brent and Paul Martin, Mark and Justin Ernst and Matt Kissel.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Alexander Mills

Funeral services for Alexander David 'Sandy' Mills, 52, Blaine, took place Jan. 10 at Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Bill Steinke officiated.

Mills died Jan. 3, 2004 at his home. He was born May 30, 1951 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to Robert Mills and Joy Brayson and worked for the John Roberts Co.

He is survived by his children, Heather, Nicole, Angela, Danielle; mother, Joy Mills Roberg; sister, Bonnie Mills; and many friends and relatives.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa; and father, Robert.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka and Blaine chapels.

Harvey Nelson

Funeral services for Harvey Nelson, 69, Coon Rapids, took place Jan. 20 at Faith Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. James Donald officiated.

Nelson died Jan. 17, 2004. He was born Feb. 6, 1934 in Shafer and was a 43-year employee of Northwestern Drug Company.

He is survived by his wife, Ardys; children, Craig Nelson (Barb), Linda Hanson (Ron), Arnan Nelson, Darcy Miller (Ross); seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Allen, Bob and Lloyd; and sister, Arlene.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Valerie Nelson.

Interment was private. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Edwin Potter

Funeral services for Edward Ward Potter, 93, Arden Hills, took place Jan. 19 at Anoka United Methodist Church. Rev. Bill Eaves officiated.

Potter died Jan. 15, 2004 at Presbyterian Homes of Arden Hills. He was born Oct. 27, 1910 in Arthur, Iowa, to Phillip O. and Edith (nee Ward) Potter, and was retired from Federal Cartridge after 45-plus years.

He is survived by his son, Robert and wife Marilyn; daughter, Marilyn Eck and husband Michael; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille.

Pallbearers were Robert W. and Dennis Potter, Mark Burley, Scott Billehus, Thomas Wilcox and Bob Youngquist.

Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Flora Schwartz

Funeral services for Flora Schwartz (Johnsen) 78, Coon Rapids, took place Jan. 17 at Epiphany Catholic Church. Rev. Patrick Kennedy officiated.

Schwartz died Jan. 14, 2004 at Mercy Hospital. She was born May 16, 1925 in Watkins.

She is survived by her husband, Wendelin 'Bud' Schwartz; children, Don Johnsen, Theresa White, Mary Scharber, Helen Kriesel, Tom Johnsen, David Johnsen; stepchildren, Joyce Foster, Pat Schwartz, Mark Schwartz, Luann Wicklund, Tim Schwartz; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Johnsen.

Pallbearers were Steve, Andrew, Ryan and Andrea Johnsen, Jonathan White and Christine Williams.

Interment was at St. Vincent's Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Walter Gagnon

Funeral services for Walter Donald Gagnon, 77, Champlin, took place Jan. 29 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Mike Van Sloun officiated.

Gagnon died Jan. 24, 2004 at Mercy Hospital. He was born March 15, 1926 in Golden Valley to Walter Donald and Edmay Rose (Duarand) Gagnon. He was retired from Hoffman Engineering in metal fabrication after 26 years and was a member of the Anoka Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children, Marcella (Donald) Blank, Charlotte (Earl) Cordes, Sharon (Ted) Deilke and Douglas (Janel) Gagnon; 17 grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and sister, Diane (Lyle) Struthers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister; and grandson, Daniel.

Pallbearers were Kevin, Matthew and Adam Deilke, Blair Gagnon, Christopher Cochran and Jordan Bridgeman. Honorary pallbearers were Andrew Cordes, Robert Nygaard, and Jerald and Nathan Gagnon.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Beulah Giddings

Memorial services for Beulah Giddings, 85, Anoka, will take place at a later date.

Giddings died Jan. 20, 2004. She was born June 9, 1918 and was a farmer's wife, gardener, canner, cook, baker, seamstress, quilt maker, woodworker, soap maker, 4-H leader, band association member, hospital volunteer and a supporter of social justice and arts organizations.

She is survived by her sisters, Doris (John) Waldoch, Charlotte (Ray) Hector and Joanne (Don) Olson; children, Lela (Dennis) Clark, Garlan (Nancy), Sam (Janet), John, Lorelei (Michael Kaye) and Lael (David McMains); grandchildren, Francine (Kip) Overbo, Michael Edwards, Jessica (John Paul) Smith, Jennifer (Josh) Bacon, Elizabeth Henrikson, Annie Giddings, Kari Giddings and Deidre Giddings; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Giddings; brother, Ted Omdahl; and best friend, Ruth Andberg.

Harry Gilman

Funeral services for Harry R. Gilman, 79, Minneapolis, took place Jan. 22 at Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home. Rev. James Walburg officiated.

Gilman died Jan. 19, 2004 in Minneapolis. He was born in Fairmont to George R. Gilman and Jesse C. Cardwell and was a retired tool and die maker.

He is survived by his sons, Tony (Joyce), Terry (Karen), Tim (Karly), Thad (Sharilyn), Toby (Merry); grandchildren, Brian (Sally), Cory (Marla), Chad (Mindy), Brett (Sara), Jeremy (Teresa), Melissa (Spencer), Rachel, Dustin and Dillon; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Sophie, Nicholas, Morgan and Avery; and brother, Ray.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna.

He was cremated. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
