John A. Anderson
Judy Anderson, vice president of First National Bank of Proctor is mourning the death of her husband, John A. Anderson. He passed away Thursday June 19, 2008 in St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by family. He was 63.

The Duluth resident was born in Georgia on April 3, 1945 to Iver and Vivian Anderson. On March 27, 1965 he married Judy Warner in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Duluth. John served in the Army National Guard from 1966-1975. He was employed with various Duluth business including Zalk Joseph and Barko Hydraulics as a welder, and later Marine Iron. John had been a former part owner of Allied Taxi. He was currently employed with Monson Trucking. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking. His grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, have several of his handmade pieces.

He is preceded in death by his father, Iver.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Judy; two daughters, Susan (Jim) Samberg of Hermantown and Cheryl (Steve) Reynolds of Duluth; four grandchildren, Andrew and Allison Samberg and Alexis and Adam Reynolds; his mother, Vivian; two brothers, Iver (Joyce) Anderson and Karl (Kathy) Anderson; three sisters, Marlene (Wes) Berntson, Marilyn (Gordon) Hansen and Vivian (Bernie) Soukup.

A Funeral service was held Tuesday June 24, 2008 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Burial was at Oneota Cemetery.

Ann Jean Dallman
Ann Jean Dallman, longtime resident of Saginaw, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 21, 2008, at the Cloquet Hospital. She was 81.

She was born Sept. 17, 1926, in Duluth, to Charles and Edith Dahl. Ann was a graduate of Alborn High School. On May 12, 1948 Ann married Arthur Dallman.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur on May 27, 2000; an infant daughter; two brothers, Harry and Clifford.

She is survived by her children, Randall Dallman and Jean (Henry Linder) Dallman, both of Saginaw; a grandson, Fritz; and her sister Ruth Amborn, of Carlton.

No service was held at this time at the family’s request.

Doris A. O’Connell
Duane King of Proctor is saddened by the loss of his mother Doris A. O’Connell of Orr. She passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at the Edgewood Vista Assisted Living Facility in Virginia at the age of 84.

She is survived by four daughters, Carolann (Robert) Dostal of Hibbing, Janet (Andrew) Autio of Virginia, Cathy (Edward) Chavers of Orr and Linda (Daniel) Manick of Cook; another brother, William “Bill’’ (Zoe) King of Orr; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Wednesday in Calvary Lutheran Church in Orr.

Dennis Edward Poldoski
Beatrice Poldoski of Proctor is mourning the death of her son, Dennis Edward Poldoski, of Carlton. He died Sunday, June 29, 2008 in St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth at the age of 54.

He was born March 5, 1954 in Duluth to John “”Joe’’ and Beatrice Poldoski. He graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1972. Dennis married Maxine Balke on Aug. 16, 1980 in Duluth. He worked for Minnesota Power in the control room and as a millwright at the Thomson Hydro Plant. He was a member of the IBEW Union. Dennis enjoyed hunting, camping, and boating.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Joe Poldoski.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine of Carlton; two daughters, Lora Poldoski and Leah Poldoski both of Minneapolis; granddaughter, Mataya Pavlich of Minneapolis; brother, John (Janet) Poldoski of Duluth; sister, Sheryl (Tim) Pirkola of Duluth; and his mother-in-law, Minerva Balke of Virginia.

Visitation will be from Noon until the 1 p.m. Memorial Service Thursday, July 3, 2008 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow in the Fireside Room of the funeral home.

Sharon A. Hoffman
Sharon A. Hoffman, 70, daughter of Alex L. and Mildred (Virnig) Hoffman, died September 9, 2009 in her Minneapolis Home.

Sharon was born on June 23, 1939. She graduated from Proctor High School in 1957 as Co-Valedictorian. Sharon also reigned as Miss Proctor, representing her town at various functions. Sharon lived in Lastrup, Brainerd, Proctor, and Duluth prior to moving to the Twin Cities in 1961.

Sharon attended UMD as an engineering student, which was unusual for women in that time period. Sharon worked for several years at Honeywell and Control Data, as a highly respected computer programmer/systems analyst.

Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Alex, and brother, Roger. She is survived by her mother, Mildred; sisters: Judy and Diane, both of Proctor and Sheila of Linwood Township; brothers Dale (Shirlene), of Texas, Fr. Dennis, of Nashwauk, Ken of Wrenshall, Dan (Kathleen) of Rush City, and Alex of Proctor. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

At her request, there will be a private service only.

Carl Olafson
Carl Olafson, formerly of Proctor, died September 22, 2009. He was 51.

Olafson was born March 31, 1958 in Duluth, Minnesota to Clifford and Doris (Stromland) Olafson. He grew up in Munger and attended Proctor Schools. He graduated from Southwest School of Botanical Medicine as a Clinical Herbalist in 1994.

Carl was a fun-loving person with a great sense of humor. He loved hunting, fishing, music and working with his hands.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Dawn Olafson.

He is survived by wife, Lisa, daughters Sarah, and Moriah; and son Dylan. Also surviving are sister Chris (John) Langenbrunner, Cloquet, stepfather Clare Stromlund, Cloquet, stepbrother Kurt (Jenny) Stromlund, Hartland, Mich.; several nieces and nephews, and lifelong friend, Richard Iverson, Cloquet.

A memorial service was held in Pocatello, Idaho.

Stena Jensen, 84, of Redwood, Falls, died, March 28, 2001.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls, with burial in Crestlawn Memorial Garden..
Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Redwood Valley Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
She is survived by her daughters, Norma Schlenner of Minneapolis, Linda Nesburg and husband Stuart of St. Peter, and Diane Jensen of Minneapolis; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; son, Larry; granddaughter, Debra, three sisters and four brothers.
She was born Jan. 1, 1917 in Brookville Township, to Peter and Sophia (Larsen) Jacobsen She attended country school and graduated from Sleepy Eye Public School. She married Norman Jensen on Nov. 19, 1938, in South Dakota, They farmed southwest of Redwood Falls. In 1996, she moved into Johnson Park Place in Redwood Falls. She was a charter member of the Tuesday Afternoon Club which met monthly.

Raymond Gray, 98, of Redwood Falls, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at the Wood Dale Nursing Home, Redwood Falls.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Redwood Falls, with burial in Redwood Falls cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and at the church Monday, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and John Cicarelli of Gig Harbor, Wash.; sons and daughters-in-law, Gordon and Kathy Gray of Albany, Ore., and John and Jane Gray of New Ulm; ten grandchildren; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Marvin Palmer of Redwood Falls, and Gertrude and Arnold Lund of Hudson, S.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernice in 1992; brothers, William and Dick; and sister, Esther Jones.
He was born Nov. 27, 1902, in Winterset, Iowa, to Charles and Nellie (Hendricks) Gray. They moved to Haley, N.D. in 1909, then to a farm near Morgan in 1917. He married Bernice Anderson in 1934. He worked for Standard Oil from 1934 to 1937. They farmed on three places south of Redwood Falls before retiring in 1970. They moved to Redwood Falls in 1977. He entered Wood Dale Nursing Home, Redwood Falls, in 1993.
He belonged to First United Methodist Church, Redwood Falls, and served on the church board. He also served on the Redwood Falls Home Guard for six years.

Robert Juhl Johnson, 55, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at the Trimont Health Care Center in Trimont.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in St. James, with burial in the Elm Creek Cemetery south of Trimont.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Monday at the Sturm Funeral Home in St. James, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by wife Lola of Trimont, daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Rick Anderson of Bloomington; sons Kevin Johnson of Mesa, Ariz., and Daryl Johnson of Trimont; two grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeanette and Mel Killham of Pierce City, Mo., and Lois and Harry Greenman of Manitou Springs, Colo.; mother-in-law Darlene Artner of Ormsby; brother-in-law and wife Gene and Carla Artner of Butterfield; and nieces and nephews.
He was born Nov. 7, 1945, in Fairmont, to Juhl and Carmen (Holden) Johnson. He married Lola Artner on Nov. 25, 1967, at the First Presbyterian Church in St. James. They moved to North Dakota where Robert served as a manager of a grain elevator. He was a member of the Lions Club in North Dakota and taught Sunday School at the Methodist Church. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in St. James.

Lorena Knoll, 96, of St. James, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at the Pleasant View Nursing Home, St. James.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. James, with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery, St. James.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, 8-9 a.m. Monday at Pease Funeral Home, St. James and at the church Monday, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Carrie, Minnie, Mary, Frances, and Josephine; brothers, Fred, Herman, Robert, Bernard, Roy, Henry, and Rudolph, and her parents.
She was born March 21, 1905 in Long Lake Township, Watonwan County, to Herman and Friederike (Kuchenmeister) Knoll. She attended rural school in Watonwan County and St. Paul's Christian Day School in St. James. She worked on the family farm near Kansas Lake for 43 years before moving to a farm near Ormsby where she lived for 17 years. She moved to St. James in 1968. She was a resident of Pleasant View Nursing Home since 1992. She belonged to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
