Memorial services for Marlene P. Johnson, 67, Zimmerman, took place May 13 at Zimmerman Evangelical Free Church.
Johnson died May 9, 2004 at North Memorial Resident Hospice, Brooklyn Center.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne; daughters, Ardell Johnson of Columbia Heights, Andrea (Dave) Ditty of Maple Grove and Anita Johnson of Blaine; grandchildren, Max and Lexi Ditty; brothers, Trevor (Jane) Tibble, Adrian (Barbara) Tibble, Ronald (Judy) Tibble and sister-in-law Sue Tibble, a;l of Leicester, England; brothers-in-law, Dale French of Nowthen and Lee Johnson of Anoka; sisters-in-law, Roth Mochinski and Gloria (Larry) Erickson; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Edith Tibble; and brother, Peter, of Leicester, England.
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Dare's Funeral Home, Elk River.
Faith Berquist-Otte
Funeral services for Faith Elizabeth Berquist-Otte, 1 month 9 days, Andover, took place May 28 at Servant of Christ Lutheran Church, Champlin. Revs. Eric Walbolt and Brenda Legred officiated.
She died May 25, 2004 in Andover. She was born April 16, 2004 in St. Paul to Nathan Otte and Barrie Berquist.
She is survived by her parents, Nathan Otte and Barrie Berquist; sister, Kaysie; grandparents, Veronica Otte and the late Lee Otte, Rick and Barb Winfield, Sheldon and Barbara Berquist; great-grandparents, Delmore and Dorothy Clobes, Stan Berquist; uncle, Tim Otte; aunt, Mikki; cousins, Dillon and Skyla; and many family and friends.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart.
Ben Pischke
Memorial services for Benedict Philip Pischke, 62, St. Francis, took place June 1 at Elim Baptist Church, Isanti. Rev. Roger Anderson officiated.
Pischke died May 28, 2004 at Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center, Wyoming. He was born April 16, 1942 in Alexandria to Mathias and Ione Pischke and started and maintained his own business doing bees wax for industry. He was a member of the Bethel Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; sons, Lyle and Peggy of Isanti, LeRoy of St. Francis; grandchildren, Samantha, Tyler, Raymond, Andrew, Sarah and Annie; aunt, Blanche Hanson of Parkers Prairie; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Interment was at Isanti Union Cemetery. Arrangements were by Strike Funeral Home - Isanti Chapel.
Shirley Price
Funeral services for Shirley E. Price, 76, Coon Rapids, took place May 25 at Fourth Baptist Church, Plymouth.
Price died May 22, 2004 at North Memorial Medical Center. She was born Nov. 8, 1927.
She is survived by her children, Jeff Price (Pat), Joan Sather (Rick) and Tim Price (Stephanie); grandchildren, Melissa, Jami and Chad Price, Matthew, Kirstin and Tony Sather, Jenna, Haylie and Kelsey Price; sister, Marion Graser 'Ankie;' and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Interment was private at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
Bernice Swing
Funeral services for Bernice Iva Swing, 76, Anoka, took place May 29 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Rev. Norman R. Berg officiated.
Swing died May 25, 2004 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Dec. 23, 1927 in Isanti County to Manfred Caleb and Elizabeth (Engelkraut) Lindell.
She is survived by her husband, Gilbert; sister, Delores (Leif) Erickson of Cambridge; aunt, Viola Reichel of Andover; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Curtis Erickson, Gene Reichel, Jerry Swing, Craig and Keith Lindberg and Rod Sigafoos. Honorary pallbearers were Norman Chilstrom and Richard Swing.
Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.
Robert Sylvester
Memorial services for Robert Wren Sylvester, 79, East Bethel, will take place tomorrow (Saturday, June 5), 11 a.m., at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, East Bethel. Rev. Brian Fragodt will officiate.
Sylvester died May 27, 2004. He was born July 6, 1924 in Bethel to Grandville and Agnes Sylvester and served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He started an implement dealership and then joined Tractor Transport as an over-the-road driver before retiring to farm and restore antique tractors. He was an active member of the Nowthen Historical Power Association and the Isanti VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Cherie Nelson, Debbie Darsie, Sue (Gary) Points, Vikki (Phil) Olsen, Sandy (Brook) Benes and Jackie (Doug) Johnson; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Donna Carpenter; and many other family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brook Benes, Delano Carpenter, Kermit Dahlman, Nathan Darsie, Doug Johnson Bob Oien, Phil Olsen and Gary Points.
Arrangements are by Strike Funeral Home - Isanti Chapel.
Inga Taipale
Funeral services for Inga Marie Taipale, 94, Anoka, formerly of Virginia, will take place at a later date in Virginia.
Taipale died May 27, 2004 at Twin Rivers Care Center, Anoka. She was born Feb. 27, 1910 in Virginia to Staale and Anna Marie (Syverson) Abrahamson and was a retired secretary for the Federal Housing Administration.
She is survived by her nieces, Linda (Brad) Chabot of Andover, Doris (Lyn) Kortie of Phoenix, Ariz.; nephew, Brock (Nancy) Abrahamson of Anoka; many great nieces and great-nephews; and sister-in-law, Ruth Abrahamson of Sun City, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; one brother; and two sisters.
Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery, Virginia. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Gloria Wold
Funeral services for Gloria M. Wold (nee Werder), 76, Elk River, took place May 29 at Lord of Glory Lutheran Church, Elk River.
Wold died May 25, 2004.
She is survived by her husband, Harley; sons, Mark (Carol Meyer), Craig (Lenora) Bradley, Timothy and Brent; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers; a sister; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Interment was at Baily Station Cemetery, Big Lake Township. Arrangements were by Dare's Funeral Home, Elk River.
Allen Abbott
Funeral services for Allen J. 'Jim' Abbott, 66, Elk River, took place June 4 at Solid Rock Church, Elk River. Revs. Bill Matthews and James Abbott officiated.
Abbott died in Bemidji May 31, 2004. He was born Sept. 12, 1937 in Grafton, N.D., to William F. and Florence M. (Chapiewski) Abbott and was a retired drywall contractor.
He is survived by his wife, Loraine; son, James (Lisa) Abbott of Ham Lake; daughter, Julie (Michael) Lawrence of Otsego; five grandchildren; sisters, Ellen 'Sis' (Ralph) Vonasek of Bemidji and Lorraine 'Toots' Frank of Arizona; and nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Florence Abbott.
Pallbearers were Floyd Bye, Curt Huelsnitz, Doug Jones, Ralph and Todd Vonasek and Greg Alsaker.
Interment was at Lakeview Cemetery, Nowthen. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
Allan Burton
Funeral services for Allan Wayne 'Swede' Burton, 68, Zimmerman, took place June 2 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Rev. Shane Burton officiated.
Burton died May 28, 2004 at Guardian Angels Care Center, Elk River. He was born May 16, 1936 in Minneapolis to William Edwin and Inez C. (Schade) Burton and was a retired employee of Hoffman Engineering.
He is survived by his children, Monty (Heather) Burton, Tami Lehman, all of Elk River; grandchildren, Maria Burton, Emily Parsons, Cody Burton, Erin Lehman and Travis Burton; siblings, Edwin 'Red' Burton of Elk River, Shirley (Terry) Sonneman of Ramsey, William 'Bill' (Kathy) Burton, Arthur 'Art' Burton, all of Minneapolis, Royal 'Roy' (Mary) Burton of Coon Rapids and Gordon 'Corky' Burton of Anoka; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; parents, William and Inez Burton; and siblings, Kenneth 'Sonny' Burton, Donald Burton, Sharon Othoudt and Harold Burton.

Mary Dayon
Funeral services for Mary Ann Dayon, 65, Anoka, will take place Monday, June 14, 11 a.m., at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Dennis Heiden will officiate.
Dayon died May 24, 2004 in Anoka. She was born Nov. 13, 1938 in Rhinelander, Wis., to Leland and Erna A. (Zimmerman) Lincoln and was retired from the accounting department at the Anoka County Government Center.
She is survived by her son, Robert of Columbia Heights; sisters, Donna Lincoln of Minneapolis, Bonnie Lincoln of Florida and Erna Jean (Robert) Lincoln of North Carolina; brother, David (RuthAnn) Lincoln of Florida; seven nieces and nephews; and two great-nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements are by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
