Nellie Schmidt

Funeral service for Nellie H. Schmidt, 28, Ramsey, took place Dec. 13, 2004 at Church of the Epiphany, Coon Rapids.

She is survived by her husband, Keith; children, Emily, Isabelle, Ben, Abby and Sophia; parents, Richard and Helen; brothers and sisters; father and mother-in-law, Ken and Ginger; sister-in-law, Colleen Green (Richard); nieces and nephews, Rose, Chelsea, Elizabeth and Richard; and many other relatives and friends.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Mervin Sharp

Funeral service for Mervin 'Curt' Sharp, 83, Blaine, took place Dec. 10, 2004 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Sharp, a retired 25-year employee at Honeywell, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a PT boat radioman in the Mediterranean theater.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; children, Steven (Stephanie), Scott (Laura), Randy (Keri) and Sue Jordan (Kevin); 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Shirley Sharp.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

David Anderson

Funeral service for David Franklin Anderson, 71, Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 15, 2004 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Anderson, a Korean War veteran, worked for the city of Minneapolis for 37 years, then for eight years for the Anoka County Parks and Recreation Department at the Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park.

He is survived by his wife, Ione; daughter, Robin (Raoul) Quijada; sons, David (Michelle), Douglas, Donald, Dean (Kathy); daughter-in-law, Sandra Anderson; sister, Virginia (Dick); brothers, Harold (Ann), Robert (Beverly), Harry; grandchildren, David Anderson, Shea (Mike) Anderson, Joe Anderson, Daniel Anderson, Carlos Quijada, Brandon David Quijada, Callie Renee Anderson; great-grandsons, Benjamin Anderson, Liam Haukaas Anderson; and many nieces and nephews, especially, Tom Paciorek and Ruby Bartlett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and George Anderson; sisters, Ruby McNiff, Jean Filas (Richie); and brothers, William, George (Pat).

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel.

Orval Baker

Memorial service for Orval Robert Baker, 78, Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 18 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel, Anoka. Rev. Robert Georges officiated.

Baker died Dec. 12, 2004 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Nov. 16, 1926 in De Smet, S.D., to Edwin and Minnie (Krueger) Baker.

He is survived by his granddaughter, Charlene Baker; sisters, Florence Berhow and Vera Johnson; brother, Dennis (Dena) Baker; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; sons, Daryl and Jeffrey Baker; sisters, Joyce Schmidt, Lucille Beck and Alice Weaver.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Joseph Berglund

Funeral service for Joseph Mark Berglund, 43, Wrenshall, formerly of St. Francis and Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 20 at Elim Lutheran Church, Blackhoof Township. Rev. John Sippola officiated.

Berglund died suddenly Dec. 14, 2004. Joe was born on Nov. 28, 1961 to John and Margaret Berglund. He graduated from St. Francis High School. He moved to Wrenshall in 1990 where he raised pigs and installed outdoor wood boilers.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa; children Jacqueline and Jordan; father John (Jack) and wife Diane Berglund of Apache Junction, Ariz.; mother Margaret (Nokk) Berglund of Forest Lake; sisters, Linda (Don) Chouinard of Bonita Springs, Fla., Kathy (Dave) Hix of Rathdrum, Idaho, Judy (Randy) Springer of Crown; brothers, Bill (Sue) Berglund of Brier, Wash., Paul (Theresa) Berglund of St. Paul, Tom (Ronda) Berglund of Oak Grove; in-laws, Kyle (Val) Sidlo of Maple Grove, Lynn (Steve) Vongroven of Sturgeon Lake, Glen (Sara) Sidlo of Lakewood, Colo.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Interment was at Oak Lake Lutheran Cemetery, Kerrick Township. Arrangements were with Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.

Ruby Boatman

Funeral service for Ruby Angeline Boatman, 76, Fridley, took place Dec. 21 at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Rev. David Glesne officiated.

Boatman died Dec. 16, 2004 at Little Hospice, Edina. She was born Sept. 10, 1928 in Winger to Frank and Pearl (Olson) Nansen and was a retired nurse epidemeologist in cancer research at the University of Minnesota.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; children, Daniel (Grace), Cynthia (David) Berkas and Timothy (Dr. Aimee Song); grandchildren, Matthew Boatman, Bryan and Kari Berkas, Sonja, Benjamin and Grace Boatman; brother, Glen Nansen; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Pearl Nansen; and brother, Clifford Nansen.

Pallbearers were Matthew Boatman, Bryan Berkas, David and James Johnson and Paul and Mark Nansen.

Interment was at Hillside Cemetery, Minneapolis. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Lawrence Ducommun

Funeral service for Lawrence H. Ducommun, 89, Elk River, took place Dec. 18 at Trott Brook Gospel Hall, Ramsey.

Ducommun died Dec. 13, 2004 in Elk River. He was born March 14, 1915 in St. Maries, Idaho, to John Ducommun and Jeanne Jacot and was a retired auto mechanic.

He is survived by his sons, Alan, Duane (Laura), Ron (Connie), Dale (Cindi); daughter, Joanne; grandchildren, Sherl, Sara, Kyle, Brad, Adam, Casey, Rose, Jesse, Matt and Nick; great-granddaughter, Victoria; brothers, Wilfred and Vernon; and sister, Marjorie Scheldecker.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; and grandson, Neal Tollefsrud.

Interment was at Trott Brook Cemetery, Ramsey. Arrangements were by Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home.

Dale French

Funeral service for Dale D. French, 70, Jackson, Ga., formerly of Anoka, took place Dec. 21 at Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, McDonough, Ga. Rev. Mark Turner officiated.

French died Dec. 18, 2004 at Portsbridge Hospice. He was born March 15, 1934 in Anoka to James Edward French and Lois Eleanor Dougherty. He served in the U.S. Army and was a retired truck driver.

He is survived by his wife, Emma; mother, Lois French of Andover; children and spouses, Blenda Laird of Cedartown, Ga., Terri Crowe of Kennesaw, Ga., Toni and Mike Askew of Locust Grove, Ga., Thomas Minardo of Jackson, Ga., Cathy and Jose Rivera of Kingwood, Texas, Gregg and Paige French of Acworth, Ga., Peggy Leon of Acworth, Ga., Sasha and David Flickinger of Woodbridge, Va.; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Kathy French of Ramsey.

Interment was at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Haisten Funeral Home, McDonough, Ga.

Mark Hanley

Funeral service for Mark T. Hanley, 32, Rice Lake, Wis., took place Dec. 18 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. David Blume officiated.

Hanley died Dec. 13, 2004 in Rice Lake. He was born July 17, 1972 to Eugene and Mary Hanley and was a chef in the food industry.

He is survived by his parents, Eugene and Marie Hanley; brothers, John (Robin), Thomas (Julie); sisters, Maureen (Mark); and nieces, Jamie, Rachel, Annaliese and Jordan.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home.,

Violet Holt

Funeral service for Violet 'Vi' Eleanore Holt, 94, Coon Rapids, formerly of Duluth, took place Dec. 21 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home.

Holt died Dec. 16, 2004 at Mercy Hospital. She was born in Chisholm to John Victor and Amalia (Puumala) Lager. She was a nurse for more than 40 years and was active in the Minnesota Nurses Association.

She is survived by her son, Bruce F. (Susan) Holt of Coon Rapids; grandchildren, Derek Holt of Coon Rapids, Jill (Jo) Marki of Milwaukee, Wis., and Jay Holt of Racine, Wis.; great-grandchildren, Troy and Brittnay; daughter-in-law, Sharon Holt of Racine, Wis.; and sisters, Lily Johnson of Big Fork and Irma Rielly of Racine, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd; son, Charles; sister, Mary; and brothers, Harold, Charles and Victor.

Interment was at Oneota Cemetery. Arrangements were by Bell Brothers Funeral Home.

Margaret Moline

Memorial service for Margaret Angela Nelson Moline, 70, of Champlin took place Dec. 22 at Coon Rapids Evangelical Free Church. Revs. Dean Johnson and Chuck Phelps officiated.

Moline died Dec. 19, 2004 at Mercy Hospital. She was born on June 9, 1934 in Benson to Clifford and Dorothy (Dexter) Nelson. She was a retired nurse at Swedish Hospital/Metropolitan Medical Center, Maple Manor Nursing Home, Fridley Convalescent Home and Unity Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Keith of Champlin; daughters, Mary (Kevin) Melin and Carolyn (Kevin) Gwinn; and grandchildren, Alyssa and Laura Melin and Jonathan Gwinn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Clifford Nelson; and stillborn sister, Ruth Arletta.

Interment was at Springvale Baptist Cemetery. Arrangements were by Strike Funeral Home - Cambridge Chapel.

Shirlee Richards

Memorial service for Shirlee A. Richards, 64, Blaine, took place Dec. 20 at Cloverleaf Apartments Community Room, Blaine.

Richards died Dec. 14, 2004.

She is survived by her daughters, Monica, Lisa (Scott) Lazaretti; son, Shawn; brothers, Roger (Jenny), Vern (Kathy) Mortenson; four grandchildren; favorite niece, Doreen; and many friends.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.
