Buddy Russell

Funeral service for Buddy Gayle Russell, 72, Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 17 at Advent Lutheran Church. Rev. Robert Linstrand officiated.

Russell died Dec. 13, 2004 at Fairview University Transition Services, Minneapolis. He was born April 25, 1932 in Toivola, Mich., to Lynn Dell and Eva Mildred (Clemons) Russell and was a retired night foreman at Thermo King.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Gayle (Barbara); daughter, Vicki (Sandy) Woods; grandchildren, April, Christopher and Cody Russell, Allan Hamm, Trevor and Eric Woods; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Marissa; and brother, Bill Russell.

Pallbearers were Gayle Russell, Allan Hamm, Trevor, Andrew and Eric Woods and Fredrick Hughes.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Michelle Schwalbe

Funeral service for Michelle L. Schwalbe, 25, Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 21 at University Lutheran Church of Hope, Minneapolis.

Schwalbe died unexpectedly Dec. 16, 2004.

She is survived by her husband, Randy; son, John; parents, Ken and Elaine Sarkela; parents-in-law, James and Carol; brother-in-law, Craig (Nikki); sister-in-law, Beverly Singhel (Tim); and other relatives and friends.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Joel Smith

Funeral service for Joel William Smith, 41, Champlin, took place Dec. 17 at Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home. Rev. Michael T. Hayes officiated.

Smith died Dec. 13, 2004 in Champlin. He was born June 28, 1963 in St. Paul to Wayne Francis Smith and Arlene J. Feldt and was a certified public accountant.

He is survived by his wife, Jesaca; daughters, Abigail and Lydia; brother, Mark (Maureen) Smith; sister, Lynn (Gregg) Comstock; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home.

John Weaver

Funeral service for John Llewellyn Weaver, 76, Anoka, took place Dec. 22 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Timothy G. Johnson officiated.

Weaver died Dec. 18, 2004 in Anoka. He was born March 19, 1928 in Anoka to Charles Baldwin and Esther Freidborg (LeVine) Weaver. He was president of The Weaver Brothers Company, a member of the Anoka City Council since 1983, a former member of the Minnesota House of Representatives and the Anoka-Hennepin School District 11, a member of the board of directors of Viking Council, Boy Scouts of America since 1960, and a member of the Anoka Kiwanis Club, Anoka Chamber of Commerce, Anoka Community Concert Association board, Anoka-Ramsey Community College Foundation board, Minnesota National Guard Advisory Committee, Anoka Technical College Foundation and Anoka County Historical Society past president.

He is survived by his wife, Jenille 'Jill;' son, Jeff and wife Robin; daughters, Sarah Aga and husband Jeff, Martha West and husband Lance; six and 'one-third' grandchildren; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Tom, Andy and Charlie Weaver, George Petty, Warren Lindeke and Herman Talle.

Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Rudolph Betlach

Funeral service for Rudolph C. Betlach, 65, Anoka, took place Dec. 28 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. David Blume officiated.

Betlach died Dec. 23, 2004. He was born Aug. 6, 1939 in Anoka to Louis and Madeline Betlach. He was a retired sergeant in the Anoka Police Department, served in the U.S. Navy from 1957-60 and was a member of the Anoka American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Sherrill L.; children, Christine (Thomas) Vinje, Anthony Betlach, Elizabeth (Robert) Timm, Rachel (Matthew) Leshovsky, Theresa Betlach, Jessica (Peter) DuCharme; special daughter, Shari Fociar; sister, Patricia A. Russell; brother, Robert (Frances) Betlach; 13 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Bob Timm, Matt Leshovsky, Tom Vinje, Pete DuCharme, Matt Betlach and Mike Anderson. Honorary pallbearer was Tony Betlach.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Gearhart Anoka Funeral Home.

Esther Brown

Funeral service for Esther C. Brown, 79, Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 28 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Norman Berg officiated.

Brown died Dec. 21, 2004 in Brooklyn Center. She was born July 10, 1925 in Hennepin, Ill., to Viggo and Anna Cofoid and was retired teacher.

She is survived by her daughters, Christine Brown-Mahoney (Mikel), Anna Halvorson (Paul) and Karen-Brown Thompson; granddaughters, Hillary Mahoney, Caitlin Thompson and Kelsey Thompson; and brother, Lauritz Cofoid.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Brown; daughter, Ruth Ellen; brothers, Vincent Cofoid and John David Cofoid; and parents, Viggo and Anna Cofoid.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Robert Cushman

Funeral service for Robert Dean Cushman, 75, Dodgeville, Wis., formerly of Anoka, took place Dec. 27 at Gorgen Funeral Home, Dodgeville.

Cushman died Dec. 20, 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Delores; daughters, Christine Cushman (Christian Rude) of Cambridge, Wis., and Diane Cushman (Tom Richards) of St. Paul; sons, David Cushman (Darla) of Zimmerman and Jason Cushman of Dodgeville; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Celestine Frazier; father, Victor Cushman; and sibling, Donald Cushman.

Interment was at Graceland Cemetery, Mineral Point, Wis. Arrangements were by Gorgen Funeral Home.

Dolores Dahlberg

Funeral service for Dolores M. Dahlberg 'Toots,' 71, Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 27 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids.

Dahlberg died Dec. 20, 2004. She was born May 12, 1933 and was a longtime member of the Coon Rapids Lioness Club.

She is survived by her husband, Charles; children, Daniel (Lauri) of Fridley, Charlotte Kroplin of Anoka, Douglas of Coon Rapids, Gregory of Andover, Mary Sokolik (Mike) of Coon Rapids; 10 grandchildren; twin sister, Patricia 'Tiny' Chenal (Maurice) of Lino Lakes; sister, Kathy Meyer (Mike) of Andover; brother, John Beaudry (Joyce) of Princeton; and many other relatives.

Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Alfonso Garcia

Funeral service for Alfonso R. Garcia, 64, Blaine, took place Dec. 23 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, Blaine. Rev. Jason Wahlstrom officiated.

Garcia died Dec. 19, 2004 in Coon Rapids. He was born Sept. 18, 1940 in Houston, Texas, to Antonsio and Ruth Garcia and was a stock trader.

He is survived by his wife, Ardina; daughter, Heidi; mother, Ruth Rodriguez; sisters, Tina Menchaca, Lilly Ramos, Dora Garcia, Olga Tucker, Gloria Cabasas, Nora Floyd, Josie Alejandro; and brothers, Rudy, Stanley and David.

He was preceded in death by his father, Antonsio; brothers, Edward, Ernest, John Sr.; and sister, Helen Pena.

Pallbearers were Myron Iszler, John Cosgrove, Jessie Crawford and Molly Fenske.

Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Gearhart Funeral Home, Coon Rapids.

Hazel Bergeron

Memorial service for Hazel M. Bergeron, 81, Minneapolis, took place Aug. 25 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Chaplain Pete Riedesel officiated.

Bergeron died Aug. 22, 2004 at St. Anthony Care Center. She was born April 8, 1923 in Minneapolis.

She is survived by her daughters, Jean (Jay) and Cindy (Larry); grandchildren, Lisa, Lori, Snooky (Chris) and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Jessica, Carlee, Maria, Hayley and David; siblings, Florence, Lucille, Signe and Johnny (Jeanette); and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

May Bouley

Memorial service for May (Anderson) Bouley, 77, Bradford and Florence, Ariz., took place Aug. 27 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Robert Hasinfelt officiated.

Bouley died Aug. 24, 2004. She was born Oct. 26, 1926 in Hopkins.

She is survived by her husband, Philip; daughters, Gloria (Tom) Kaczmarczyk of Coon Rapids, Janice (Mark) Bauer of Anoka, Ranna (Dennis) Ihamaki of Cambridge; son, Lee 'Buster' (Wendy) Bouley of St. Francis; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Roy (Loretta) Anderson of Sandstone; brothers-in-law, James (Arlene) Bouley of Monticello and Bernard Bouley of Minneapolis; numerous nieces and nephews; and Karen Ihamaki.

A memorial service in Arizona will take place at a later date.

Janine Dullinger-Rivers

Funeral service for Janine Marie Dullinger-Rivers, 37, Anoka, took place Aug. 30 at Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Michele Okposo officiated.

Dullinger-Rivers died Aug. 26, 2004 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Jan. 16, 1967 in Perham to Gil and Louis Dullinger and was a waitress.

She is survived by her husband, James; stepchildren, Jennifer Rivers, Jeremiah Rivers, Mikey Johnson; father, Gil Dullinger; siblings, Bryant (Gretchen) Dullinger, Alyca (Don) Judge, Michele (Kome) Okposo, Cori (JR) Guagenti; nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lois.

Honorary pallbearers were Julie Dorsey, Denise Breault, Randy Johnson and Kris Mueller.

Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home.
