Agnes Anderson

Agnes H. Anderson of Fargo, North Dakota passed away Sunday November 18th, 2001 at Elim Nursing Home in Fargo, North Dakota.

Agnes Helen Olson was born March 21, 1912 to Hans and Augusta Olson in Litchville, North Dakota. She married Gunder E. Anderson in Litchville, North Dakota. They moved to Valley City, North Dakota and later to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she was employed and volunteered at Fairview Hospital. The past 10 years she resided in Fargo so that she could be closer to her grand children.

Agnes is survived by a son George Anderson of Kansas City, MO, a sister Maggie Vietzke, Ortonville, MN, grandsons Mark (Rebecca) and Scott (Debbie) Anderson and five granddaughters Betty (Jim) Nohr, Yvonne (Richard) Ralph, Sandi (Doug) Gramm, Mary (Dewy) Bacak and Nancy Espitallier, twelve great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gunder two daughters

Margaret Lettemaier and Harriett Schrage and one granddaughter Marta and

one great grandson Donovan Anderson.

Funeral: Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at 2:00pm in Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, North Dakota

Visitation: Wednesday, November 21, 2001 one hour before the funeral in Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, North Dakota

Burial: Friday, November 23, 2001 at 2:00pm in Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota

Alta Anderson

Alta Eunice Anderson, 69, rural Glyndon, MN, died Friday, June 1st.

Alta E. Bailey, daughter of Vernon L. and Louise M. (Brohn) Bailey, was born on July 20, 1931 at Wing, North Dakota, where she grew up and attended school. She taught country school near Regan, North Dakota for two years. She then attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she began working for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company part time. She worked for Northwestern Bell at Duluth, Grand Rapids and then Hibbing, where she met Ed in 1965. She was united in marriage with Edward Anderson on October 12, 1968 at Hibbing, Minnesota. They lived at Kelly Lake, Minnesota, following their marriage, then moved to Crookston. While Ed attended school there, she worked at NW Bell in Crookston and Bemidji. They then lived in Mayville, ND for four years and she began working with the Fargo NW Bell office. They moved to Carrington, ND. In 1977, they moved to rural Glyndon, Minnesota and she worked out of the Fargo NW Bell office, until retiring in 1988.

She is survived by: Her husband: Ed. Four Sons & Two Daughters: Jeff (Beth) of Fargo, ND, Robert of Valley City, ND, Wendell (Virginia) of Moorhead, MN, Joe (Leah) of Spencer, IA, Roni (Joel) Nix of Glyndon, MN and Yvonne Anderson of Minneapolis, MN. Three Sisters and One Brother: Lois (Dell) Seelye of Bismarck, ND, Leonard (Frances) Bailey of Springfield, MO, Marion Iverson of Bismarck, ND and Mavis (Glenn) Stastney of Mandan, ND. Eight Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: Her Parents, Three Sisters: Erma (at birth), Joyce & Grace, Two Brothers: Earl and Kenneth (10 years ago).

Visitation: 2 to 5 PM, Sunday at Hanson-Runsvold, Fargo, North Dakota.

Funeral: 2 PM, Monday, First Assembly of God Church, Fargo, North Dakota.

Burial: Elmwood Cemetery, Sabin, MN.

Arvilla Joncas

Arvilla Joncas, 78, Fargo, ND, died Friday, December 21, 2001, in Villa Maria Nursing Home, Fargo.

Arvilla Johnson was born October 24, 1923 to Sylvia and Tallack Johnson in Oklee, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. In 1929, they moved to Clearbrook, MN, where she grew up and graduated from high school in 1942. She attended Dakota Business School and the Minnesota School of Business, Minneapolis, MN.

Arvilla worked as Chief Internal Auditor for Western Oil and Fuel Co. in Minneapolis. In 1948, she married James Joncas and in 1950 their son, Scott, was born. Arvilla moved to Fargo in 1976. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, belonged to Joshua Circle, and was a past member of the Women’s Executive Board.

She is survived by two brothers, Willard Johnson, Clearbrook, MN, and Don (Dorothy) Johnson, Fargo; one nephew; three nieces; three great nephews; and one great niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son.

Memorial Service: Wednesday, December 26, 2001, 10:30 AM, First Lutheran Chapel, Fargo, ND.

Burial: Clearbrook, MN (at a later date)

Howard Anderson JR

Howard Anderson, Jr. was born on October 23, 1964, in Moorhead, MN. He attended Sabin Elementary and graduated from Moorhead High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Army. He was first stationed at Ft. Knox, KY. He then was transferred to Ft. Jackson, NC and then to Ft. Lee, VA where he was a mail clerk. He was named soldier of the month while there. He then attended NDSU and graduated from there with a political science degree. He then attended UND law school and graduated in 1992. He was a licensed attorney in North Dakota and Minnesota. He ran and owned Anderson Law Office of Fargo. Howard died Saturday, June 9th at Merit Care Hospital, Fargo.

He is preceded in death by: Grandparents, Herman & Lena Anderson and August Siedschlag.

He is survived by: Parents, Howard, Sr. & Sharon Anderson (Dilworth, MN), Grandparent Anna Siedschlag (Lengby, MN), Sister: Wanda Simonson (Jon), Nieces Ally Simonson and Quincee Simonson, all of Moorhead, MN.

Funeral: Wednesday, 2:00pm, 1st Assembly of God

Visitation: Tuesday, 4-7:00pm, Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home

Prayer Service: Tuesday, 7:00pm, Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home

Christine Marie Cooper, infant daughter of Michael Cooper and Chrystal Myhre, Fargo, was born and died Tuesday, April 17th, 2001 at Innovis Hospital, Fargo.

Beatrice Koehler

Beatrice O. Koehler, 100, Eventide Home, Moorhead, formerly of 1331 - 6th Street South in Fargo, died Friday, April 6th at Eventide.

Beatrice O. Oliver, daughter of Harry & Clara (Vollmer) Oliver, was born on December 13, 1900 at Stillwater, Minnesota. She attended grade school in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Bea attended high school in New Ulm, Minnesota, graduating in 1918, where she played center on the basketball team. She worked as a secretary in Sioux Falls, SD. She was united in marriage with Armin E. Koehler, of New Ulm, MN, on April 15, 1922 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They made their home in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1933, they moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota and in 1939, moved to Fargo, where they had lived since. Bea worked for the Red Cross during World War II. She was a longtime member of Plymouth Congregational Church, ND Federation of Music Clubs for over 50 years, PEO AM Chapter, the Fine Arts Club. She also belonged to Bridge Clubs, Dance Club and the Elkettes. Armin died on February 9, 1978. Bea entered Eventide Lutheran Home on July 20, 1996, the family would like to thank those at Eventide for their wonderful care and compassion to her and her family, especially the Staff on Heritage Court. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and always remembered in their hearts.

Cousins: Beverly Urness of North Branch, MN, Florence Mary Emme of Lakeland, FL, Arlene Peterson of Hudson, WI, and Gordon Oliver of Shoreview, MN

Special Friend: Marcella Thorene of Stillwater, MN

Visitation: 6 to 8 PM, Monday at Hanson-Runsvold and for one hour before services at the church.

Funeral: 10:30 AM, Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at Plymouth Congregational Church, Fargo, with Rev. James Martin officiating.

Burial: 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 11th at New Ulm City Cemetery, New Ulm, Minnesota.

Eleanore Peschke
December 25, 2001

Eleanore Peschke ended her struggle with cancer on Christmas morning. She left this world the same way she entered - full of faith, happiness, and with a family that loves her. She was just barely 91.

(Ruth) Eleanore (Erickson) Peschke was born in Lake Park, MN on November 7, 1910, the younger daughter of Olaf and Hilda Erickson. She moved to Fargo, ND in 1913 and graduated from NDSU in 1932 with a degree in home economics. Eleanore taught in Wyndmere, ND and was a social worker in Fargo and Jamestown, ND. She served as a field director for the WPA in eastern North Dakota and then a home extension agent in Kalispell, MT and Columbus, MT for four years. Eleanore married Roy Peschke in 1943. While Roy was in the service, she taught in the Supervised Education Department at NDSU. After WW II, Roy worked at the VA Hospital in Fargo and then they were transferred to West Virginia, Illinois, and New York (where Eleanore again taught school). When Roy retired in 1973, they moved back to Fargo. Since Roy’s death in 1976, she has spent time traveling, doing volunteer work, and spoiling her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.

Eleanore was preceded by her parents; husband, Roy; and sister, Amy Erickson. She is survived and greatly missed by her son, Richard (Kathleen Austin), a professor at MSU Moorhead; daughter, Barbara (Brad) Eide, a professor at UW-LaCrosse; five grand-daughters and one great-granddaughter.

Eleanore was an active member of Elim Lutheran Church, Kappa Alpha Theta (charter member at NDSU), Phi Upsilon Omicron, Fine Arts Club, FM Friends of the Opera, YWCA, and Senior Board.

Eleanore’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Faye Aaker, Pastor Dave Aaker, Veronta (Pat) Shamp, Naomi Larson, and Betty Lindstrom for their special care and support these last several weeks. Without them Eleanore could not have had the joy and happiness of this holiday season in her own home.

In lieu of flowers, Eleanore’s family prefers memorials to Hospice of the Red River Valley and the Roger Maris Cancer Center.

Memorial Service: Saturday, December 29, 2001, at 2 PM in Elim Lutheran Church.

Burial: Eksjo Lutheran Cemetery, Lake Park, MN.

Alfred Elton England

Alfred Elton England, 82, of Moorhead died Saturday, June 15, 2002 at his home.

Alfred England was born on May 5, 1920 in Wahpeton, ND, the son of Jens and Mary (Engebretson) England. He moved to Dallas, Wisconsin and lived there until he entered the Air Force in 1942. He served four years as a glider mechanic at Sheppard Field, Wichita Falls, Texas. In 1946, he moved to North Dakota. On November 12, 1947, he married Florence Zimmerman in Kent, Minnesota. He then worked as a mechanic at Muscatell Chevrolet until his retirement in 1978. He and his wife, Florence, then resided at their home in Moorhead.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Jens and Mary England; three brothers, Ludvig, Edwin, and Olaf; and a sister, Julia.

Alfred is survived by his wife of 54 ˝ years, Florence; two brothers, Oscar England of Page, ND and Harold England of Rockford, MN; one sister, Alma Nelson of Chetek, WI; a special niece and nephew, Bruce and Susan of Tucson, AZ; and many other nieces and nephews.

Bennie C. Anderson

Bennie C. Anderson, age 93, formerly of Fargo, ND, died Sunday, June 23, 2002, in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Nursing Home in Sauk Rapids, MN.

Bennie Carlot Anderson was born on June 17, 1909 in Wild Rice, ND to Albert and Matilda Anderson. Bennie attended school in Wild Rice and farmed with his father, two sisters, and five brothers, along with two extended family members, LeVerne Dennis (dec.) and Catherine Dennis Massenheimer of Flat Rock, NC. On August 29, 1935 Bennie married Hazel Deuterman in Comstock, MN. Bennie worked for wholesale food distributor, Fairway Foods, in Fargo, moving to Oakland, CA in 1940 to join the war effort at the Kaiser Naval Shipyards in Richmond, CA. Bennie returned in 1944 to open grocery stores in Nome, ND, and later partnering with his twin brother, Tommy, in Gary MN and owning his own neighborhood grocery store, West Side Market, on 8th Ave., North, in Fargo. Bennie also worked 17 years at NDSU in the grounds and maintenance department.

Bennie is preceded in death by brothers, Edwin, Seattle, WA, twin Thomas, Gary, MN, Arthur, Hickson, ND, and Melvin, Fargo, ND.

Bennie is survived by his wife, Hazel M. Anderson, Sauk Rapids, MN; son, Bruce C. Anderson, Winston-Salem, NC; daughter, Gail (Gerald) Brovold, Sauk Rapids, MN; one brother, Grant, Vancouver, WA; two sisters, Alice Reuteler, Fargo, and Ruth Heglie, Fargo; two grandchildren, Randy Brovold, West Fargo, ND, and Brenda Burk, Lake Shore, MN; great-grandson, Drew Brovold; great-granddaughter, Sydney Burk; and many other family members.

Services for Bennie C. Anderson will be on Thursday, June 27 at 2 PM in First Lutheran Church, Fargo. A visitation for Bennie will be held on Wednesday, June 26 from 5 to 7 PM in Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo. Burial will be in Lower Wild Rice- Red River Cemetery, Hickson, ND. Memorials to the First Lutheran Radio Fund.

Carl Schulz

Carl R. Schulz, 70, Lake Lizzie, Pelican Rapids, MN, died, Saturday, January 19, 2002, following a two year bout with cancer in McAllen, Texas.

Carl was born September 5, 1931, the son of Richard and Margaret Schulz. He was raised and educated in the Casselton, ND, area.

Carl joined the Fargo (ND) Police Department in 1953. He served as a lieutenant in charge of the Narcotics Division and was honored with the Lone Eagle award. Carl was a graduate of the Drug Enforcement Academy in Arlington, VA. On February 24, 1978, Carl married LaVonne Johnson. Carl retired in 1986 after serving 33 years with the Fargo Police Department. After retirement, they moved to Halstad, MN, from the spring of 1987 to the fall of 1991. They then spent their summers at Lake Lizzie and their winters in Mission, TX.

Carl enjoyed caring for exotic animals after his retirement, especially tigers. He was an avid fisherman, liked to attend auctions and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife LaVonne; 4 children, Shelly (Lyle) Christianson of Bakersfield, CA, Jan Schulz of Halstad, MN, Jack (Betty) Schulz of Bismarck, ND, Chris (Tina) Schulz of Osage, MN; 2 step-children, Kim (Jim) Grimley of Moorhead, MN, Ernest Johnson of West Fargo, ND; 14 grandchildren; a sister, Delores (Odin) Hanson of Minot, ND; 2 brothers, Wallace (Laurene) Schulz of Minot, ND, George (Marlene) Schulz of Pelican Rapids, MN.

Funeral: Friday, January 25, 2002, 11 AM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home.

Visitation: Thursday from 5-8 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home and one hour before the service.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
