Catherine Schroedl, 98, of Fairfax died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999 at Fairfax Community Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today and from 7:30-8 a.m. Thursday at Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax and continues one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a parish prayer service at 6 p.m. and a Catholic Aid rosary at 7 p.m., today at the funeral chapel.
She is survived by her sons; Clarence and his wife, Evelyn Schroedl of Fairfax, and LeRoy Schroedl of Hector; grandchildren, Nancy Eiler of Olivia; Paul Schroedl of Fairfax; three great-grandsons; brother Joseph Wendinger and his wife Clara of Fairfax, two nieces, one nephew and their spouses.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband in 1972.
She was born March 26, 1901 in Cairo Township, Renville County, to George and Louise (Matsch) Wendinger. She married George Schroedl on Sept. 6, 1922, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church. The couple farmed in Camp Township, Renville County. She entered the Fairfax community Home in December 1995. She was a life long member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church where she belonged to the Christian Mothers and the S.t Mary's and St. Joseph's societies.

Althea Monson, 80, of Sleepy Eye died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999 at Divine Providence Home in Sleepy Eye.
Service is 1 p.m. today at Divine Providence Community Home Chapel with burial in the Prairieville Cemetery, Evan.
Visitation is noon until 1 p.m. today at the chapel.
Arrangements were handled by Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye.
She is survived by daughter, Maria Spencer of Mankato; sisters, Marie Mahler of West Allis, Wis., Adeline Davis of New Ulm; sister-in-law, Marie Bode of New Ulm; brother-in-law, Ted Stoltenburg of Sun City, Ariz.,; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Anna Bode; sisters, Erna Heidemann, Edna Stoltenburg; and brothers, Rudy and Wilmer.
She was born April 17, 1919 in Courtland to Arthur and Anna (Schwartz) Bode. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School. She married Edward Monson in Mountain Home, Idaho on Oct. 18, 1943. They lived in Nicollet, Comfrey and Sleepy Eye. She became a resident of Divine Providence Home in July.

Patricia Loughry died Aug. 20, 1999 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
She is survived by her husband, and a sister Ruth (Mrs. William) Mahoney of Redwood Falls; cousins: Penny Purtzer of New Ulm and Dr. John (and Amy) Purtzer of Waimanalo, Hawaii as well as other relatives.
She was born April 6, 1932, in New Ulm to Rollin and Esther (Reim) Church. She graduated from New Ulm High School, attended Oberlin College and graduated from Mankato State College. She taught grades one through six in Novi, Mich. until 1982.
She married Bruce Loughry in June of 1971 in Ann Arbor. She played many baroque instruments and participated in a weekly music group. She was an active member of the American Conifer Society.

Margaret Kiefer, 96, of New Ulm, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999 at Oak Hills Living Center.
Private graveside services will be held Wednesday at New Ulm City Cemetery. There will be no visitation or public services. Firle Funeral Home of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by her son John and his wife Barbara Kiefer of Highland Park, Ill.; three grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herald.
She was a member of Turner Hall and St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church.

Irvin Nesburg, 94, of Fairfax died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999 at Fairfax Community Home.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Central Lutheran Church in Camp Township, Renville County, with burial in Hauges Cemetery.
Visitation is 4- 8 p.m. Thursday at Central Lutheran Church in Camp Township, Renville County and continues one hour before the service Friday at the church.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home of New Ulm is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Muriel and Ernie Graham of Bloomington, Wanda and Ben Mann of Kennewick, Wash., Beverly and Ken Thompson of Bloomington; son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Gwen Nesburg of rural Fairfax; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice Halvorson of Circle Pines, Alice Fox of Minneapolis; sisters-in- law, Lyla Nesburg of rural Fairfax, Vivian Nesburg of Minneapolis, Rose Peterson and Ann Peterson both of Franklin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Hazel Nesburg on June 12, 1983; son, Kenneth Nesburg in 1968; brothers, Oscar, Willard, Arthur, Durward, Ralph and Julian Nesburg; and sisters, Mabel Nesburg and Annie Berg.
He was born on May 8, 1905, in Camp Township, Renville County to Gunder and Marie (Nesseth) Nesburg. He married Hazel Peterson on Sep. 1, 1926, at the Hauges Parsonage in Camp Township, Renville County. They farmed in Camp Township until 1970 when they retired and moved to Fairfax. He was a member of the Central Lutheran Church in Camp Township, Renville County, where he served on the church board. He had been a District 10 school board member.

Gail Grunig, 45, of rural Bingham Lake and formerly of Comfrey, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1999 in Tempe, Ariz.
A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, Aug. 28 at 1:30 p.m. at the Comfrey Community Center. Her cremated remains were scattered in Arizona.
Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield is handling local arrangements.
She is survived by husband Farley; son Brad of Mankato; daughter Bethanie of Minneapolis; parents, Darrell and Arlene Liesenfeld of Springfield; parents-in-law, Roger and Dorothy Grunig of Comfrey; maternal grandparents, George and Mollie Elsing of Springfield; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents.
She was born Oct. 3, 1953, in Comfrey to Darrell and Arlene (Elsing) Liesenfeld. She was raised on the family farm in Delton Township, Cottonwood County. She graduated from Comfrey High School in 1972. She married Farley Grunig on June 17, 1972 at Salem Lutheran Church in Comfrey. They moved to North Mankato and in October 1973 moved to Windom. In May, 1980 the family moved to a farm in Delton Township, Cottonwood County. She owned and operated "Personally Yours" embroidery and printing, and she worked part-time at Jackpot Junction.
Memorials are preferred to the charity of the donor's choice.

Thomas Bruns, 43, of Clovis, Calif., and formerly of Gibbon, died Aug. 22, 1999 in an automobile accident.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Grace Baptist Church, Clovis, with burial in the Clovis District Cemetery.
Boice Funeral Home handled arrangements.
A memorial service is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday at the Sportsmen's Club in rural Gibbon.
He is survived by wife, Darlene; stepson, Jeff and his wife Gaynell Pierce; grandchildren, Zachary and Alyssa, all of Clovis; parents, Harlan and Lerain Bruns of northern Minnesota; brothers, Terry Bruns, Tim and his wife Barb Bruns; sister, Tammie Kaste and husband, John, of Minnesota; parents-in-law, Lee and Cleo Brannum of Squaw Valley; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Ted and Ella Bruns, and Art and Viola Schauer.
He was born July 25, 1956, in Sleepy Eye to Harlan and Lerain (Schauer) Bruns. h School. He graduated from Gibbon High School in 1974. He attended Hutchinson Vocational School. He worked in oil field in Texas, North Dakota, Oklahoma and Colorado. He worked in construction in California. He married Darlene Brannum on Aug. 19, 1989.

Pearl Fischer, 84, of Sleepy Eye, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon "Boots" Remus of Sleepy Eye; sons, Larry and wife Marlene Fischer of Hanska, and Ronald and wife Jane Fischer of Sleepy Eye; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Roy and wife Viola Suker and Robert and wife Inez Sucker, all of Sleepy Eye; sister, Dorothy Seifert of Glendale, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Carol Walden and Katherine Hansen, both of Sleepy Eye; brothers-in-law, Marvin and wife Marion Fischer of St. Paul and Dean and wife Judy Fischer of New Ulm; daughter-in-law, Oradell Fischer of Sleepy Eye; several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Martha Schmidt of Sleepy Eye.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clarence; a son Robert "Pork" Fischer; and grandchildren, Cindy and Rick Fischer.
She was born July 31, 1915, in St. Peter to Ben and Mayme (Wolf) Sucker. She lived for a short time in St. Peter and Lakefield, and moved at a young age to Sleepy Eye. She attended St. John's Lutheran School in Sleepy Eye. She married Clarence "Chink" Fischer on April 18, 1935 in New Ulm. The couple lived in Sleepy Eye where Pearl worked as a waitress at Delroy. She also worked at Pietrus Produce and Haas Press. She was a charter member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Warren 'Homer' Ahlness, 45, of New Ulm and formerly of Hanska died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, in Cass County of an apparent heart attack while on vacation.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Linden Lutheran Church, rural Hanska, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. at the Firle Funeral Home in Hanska, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his daughter, Jenna Leigh Ahlness; son Jackson Lee Ahlness, both of New Ulm; parents, Jerry and Donna Ahlness of Hanska; brother, Steve Ahlness of Mora; sister, Judy Anderson and her husband Steve of New Ulm; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
He was born Feb. 18, 1954, in Madelia to Jerry and Donna (Pierson) Ahlness. He attended grade school in Hanska and graduated from New Ulm High School in 1972. He attended Mankato State University and received a bachelor of science degree in business administration. He later sold insurance and also farmed with his father in Linden Township, Brown County. For the past several years he has worked of the U.S. Postal Service as a rural letter carrier in the Hanska area. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in New Ulm, a former member of Linden Lutheran Church in rural Hanska. He was also a member of the New Ulm Country Club.

Albert 'Bud' Haecherl, 67, of rural Tracy, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tracy.
Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today at Jacobson Funeral Home in Tracy with a parish rosary at 4 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Frannie of Tracy; daughters, Cyndi and her husband Ken Holm of Balaton, Kay Haecherl and Darryl Stanton of Eden Prairie; sons, David and his wife Mari Haecherl of Lake Sarah, and Jon and his wife Tammy Haecherl of Tracy; nine grandchildren; brothers, Norbert of Charlotte, N.C. and William Haecherl of the San Francisco Bay, Calif. area; sisters, Marjorie Carpenter of Charlotte, N.C., Lorell Weiderholt of Richmond, Calif., and Arlene Fannin of Lafayette, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arch; and sister, Beatrice Hagert.
He was born Jan. 24, 1932, at Lisbon, N.D. to William and Thersia (Augustine) Haecherl. The family moved to the Leavenworth/Comfrey area living there until 1941 when they moved to Tracy. He graduated from Tracy High School in 1949. He enlisted in the Army National Guard which was called to active duty during the Korean Conflict. He married Frances "Frannie" Dallenbach at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tracy on July 21, 1956. They lived in the Tracy area . He farmed until 1967 when he became a contractor. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.
