Carol Stien, 64, of Arlington, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church, Arlington, with burial at a later date.
Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today and 8-11 a.m. Wednesday at Fenske Funeral Home, Arlington; and continues one hour before the service at the church.
She is survived by husband, Donald Stien of Arlington; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Cathy of Arlington, Wade and Renee of Arlington, David and Kathy of Rochester; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Joel Peterson of Savage; mother, Carolyn Matz of Arlington; brother and sister-in-law, Buzz and Rhonda Matz of Arlington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marion and David Feil of Park Rapids and Mardelle and Harry Widman of Portland, Ore.; and 11 grandchildren.
She was born Feb. 7, 1935, in Arlington, to Henry and Carolyn (Bandelin) Matz. She graduated from Arlington-Green Isle High School in 1953 and attended one year of technical college. She married Donald Stien on Sept. 3, 1955, in Arlington. She was organist and choir director at the United Methodist Church. She gave private piano lessons.

Armin Steinhaus, 75, of rural Winthrop died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999 at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery . Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the Winthrop Honor Guard.
Visitation is 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.
The family prefers memorials be given in lieu of flowers.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home of New Ulm is in charge of arrangements.

Clarence Lindemann, 84, of Stewart, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999, at Glencoe Are Health Center.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran CHurch, Stewart, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Hughes Funeral Home, Stewart, and continues one hour before the service Wednesday at the church.

Margie J. Christensen, 82 of Lamberton died Tuesday, June 29,1999 at her home in Lamberton.
Services are 1:30 p.m., Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Lamberton, with burial in the Lamberton Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton; and continues one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
She is survived by a daughter, Vickie and husband Larry Lange of Cologne; a son, Steven and wife Euleen Christensen of Lamberton; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a brother, Gordon and wife Dorothy Enemark of Tracy; and a sister-in-law, Ida (Christensen) Struebing of Rochester.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor In 1996.
She was born July 10, 1916 In Highwater Township, Cottonwood County, to Max and Lida (Nelson) Enemark. She grew up in Highwater Township and attended school in Lamberton. She took Normal Teachers Training in Lamberton and taught country school for a short time before attending Augsburg College, graduating in 1939. She taught English in the Frost and Little Falls school districts during World War II. On Oct. 6, 1945 she married Victor Christensen in Lamberton. The couple farmed In Waterbury Township.She returned to teaching in 1969 in the Wabasso school district until her retirement. She was a lifelong member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton, where she participated in WELCA and taught Sunday school.

Loren J. Malmer, 63, of Bella Vista, Ark. , formerly of Winthrop, died June 25,1999 at Bates Medical Center in Bentonville, Ark.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, June 27, in Bella Vista. The family requests memorials to the American Lung Association, 1740 Broadway, New York, N.Y. 10019, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
He is survived by his wife, Selma of Bella Vista; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Stan Thomas of Montrose, N.Y., and Carren and Joseph Hastings of Dallas, Texas; a stepdaughter, Tamara Mihock and stepsons, James and Michael Loney, all of Minneapolis; two grandsons; one granddaughter; and three stepgrandchildren; brothers, Reynold Malmer of St. Louis, Mo., and Daryl Malmer of White Bear Lake, and four nephews.
He was born May 5,1936, in New Ulm, to Bernhard and Florence Malmer of Winthrop. He attended Winthrop public schools and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1954. He was a standout basketball player in high school and college. He was a graduate of St. Cloud State University where he majored in business administration and marketing.
He worked as a manufacturer's sales representative for national and regional sporting goods firms for 30 years. He resided in Walker, Madison, Wis., and Minneapolis. He moved to Bella Vista, Ark. 11 years ago, where he was an active member of the business community and served a term as president of the Bella Vista Business Association.

Wesley Kirgiss, age 94, of Hector, died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at Buffalo Lake Health Care.
Services are11 a.m. Saturday at Evangelical Free Church in Hector, with burial in the Osceola Church of Hope Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at Hughes Funeral Home in Hector and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
He is survived by children, Gene Kirgiss and his wife Jean of Hector, Lowell Kirgiss and his wife Karen of Garfield, Ark., Allan Kirgiss and his wife Joan of Hector; eight grandchildren;17 great-grandchildren; sisters- Ida Anderson of Colorado Springs, Colo., Pauline Anderson of PoySippi, Wis., Annetta Esterly of Buffalo, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Lilly Kirgiss of Aitkin and Pearl Nickel of Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Luella; brothers; George, Ernest, Lawrence. Lloyd, and one brother in infancy; and sister, Elsie Clausen.
John "Wesley" Kirgiss was born Feb. 2, 1905, in Osceola Township near Hector to Jacob and Christina (Gaiser) Kirgiss. He grew up in Osceola Township , and attended rural school.
He married Luella Hofrock on Oct. 11, 1933, in Osceola Township. They farmed in the Hector area until 1956. They moved into Hector, and he worked as a custodian and school bus driver for the Hector Public School. He served as Osceola Township Clerk and as a member of District 90 School Board. He was a lay leader for the Osceola Church of Hope, and sang with the Men's Chorus and the Male Quartet. He was also active with the Community Center. He was named the 1995 Hector Outstanding Citizen.

Lawrence Flesner, 61, of Redwood Falls, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999 at Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center, Redwood Falls.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Redwood Falls, with burial in Gales Township Cemetery, Walnut Grove.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and will continue Saturday one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his children, Debra Turbes and husband Dan of Walnut Grove, Anita Weber and husband Richard of Lamberton, Katherine Thooft and husband Roger of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Linda DeSmith and husband Gregg of Walnut Grove, Randall and wife Amy of Sioux City, Iowa, and Sara Panitzke and husband Randy of Gig Harbor, Wash.; 17 grandchildren; brothers, Theodore and wife Deanna of New Hope, David and wife Pam and Francis and wife Odell, all of California; and sister Bernadine Herrick and husband Ken, of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter who died in infancy; and one granddaughter.
Lawrence Ronald Flesner was born Nov. 23, 1937 in Walnut Grove, to Henry and Ruth (West) Flesner. He attended school in Walnut Grove, where he graduated in 1955. He married Leora Foster on Jan. 20, 1962 in Walnut Grove. They farmed in rural Walnut Grove and Lucan, moving into Redwood Falls in 1971. He attended Pine City Tech School for welding and then traveled to California. He returned to Minnesota in 1980 and did odd jobs. He returned to Redwood Falls in 1988. He served in the Marines from 1955-1959.

Evelyn B. Riebel, 71 of Sleepy Eye died June 30, 1999 in Sleepy Eye.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Union Congregational Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye and continues one hour before the service at the church.
She is survived by her husband Gerald of rural Sleepy Eye; son, Donn, and his wife Shelley Buggert of Tacoma, Wash.; Tom and Ann Riebel of Evergreen, Colo.; six grandchildren; brothers, Leslie and wife Eunice Buggert of West St. Paul, Alton and wife Mabel Buggert of Mesa, Ariz., and Fremont and wife Jan Buggert of Mesa, Ariz.; sisters, Lee and husband Philip Leonard, Gladys and husband Mike Stolte, Arlene and husband Hilly Kral and Janice and husband Julian Griebel, all of New Ulm; mother-in-law, Minnie Riebel of Sleepy Eye; brothers-in-law, Vernard and wife Myrt Riebel of Sleepy Eye and Kenneth Riebel of Mahtomedi and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents; and sisters, Lillian Buggert and Adeline Berg.
She was born on July 23, 1927 in New Ulm to John and Lena (Rickers) Buggert. She attended school in New Ulm. She married Gerald Riebel on April 19, 1958, in Sleepy Eye. They lived in Prairieville Township near Sleepy Eye. She worked as a secretary for the principal of the New Ulm Public High School for 19 years. She was a member of the Union Congregational Church in Sleepy Eye. She also volunteered at the Sleepy Eye Care Center and the Red Cross Blood Bank for many years.

Mabel C. Grau, 88, of Oak Hills Living Center and formerly of Sunset Apartments in New Ulm, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999, at Oak Hills Living Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and continues one hour before the service at the church.
She is survived by her daughter and sons-in-law, Joan and Steve Fenske of New Ulm, Harlan Mehlhop of New Ulm; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Elaine Marier of North Albany, Ore.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother and sisters-in law, Melvin and Eleanor Wills of New Ulm, Helen Wills of Winter Park, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Marier; daughter, Diane Mehlhop; sisters, Elsie Ginkel, Sirena Haack, Lydia Rueckert, and Emily Johns; brother, George Wills; and husbands, Lawrence Marier in 1966 and Arthur Grau in 1975.
She was born on Nov. 27, 1910, in Granby Township, Nicollet County to William and Hulda (Dallmann) Wills. She married Lawrence Marier on June 7, 1936 at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. They lived in New Ulm until his death in 1966. She married Arthur Grau on Aug. 3, 1968, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. They lived in New Ulm until his death in 1975. She moved to Sunset Apartments in 1987. She became a resident of Oak Hills Living Center in December 1997. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

Joseph S. Weber, 85, of 142 East 7th Street in Gibbon, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999 at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in Gibbon.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-10 a.m. Saturday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon. St. Willibrord's Catholic Aid Society will pray the rosary at 6 p.m. and a parish prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Weber of Gibbon; daughters and sons-in-law, Lucille and Roger Stippel of Coon Rapids, Marilyn and Randy Buboltz of Litchfield; son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Jennifer Weber of Lake City; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Lester and Angeline Weber of Gibbon, and George Weber of Gibbon.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born on Sept. 12, 1913, in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, to Sebastian and Mary (Hrdlicka) Weber. He married Martha Sellner on Sept. 10, 1940 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. They farmed in rural Stewart for 30 years. They retired from farming in 1970 and moved to Gibbon where he worked for the Goodman Produce for 12 years. He was a member of the St. Willibrord's Catholic Church and the Catholic Aid Society.

Leo C. Fritz, 86, of Sleepy Eye, died Thursday, July 1, 1999 at Divine Providence Community Home, Sleepy Eye.
Services will held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Divine Providence Community Home, Sleepy Eye with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Sleepy Eye, sons and their wives, John and Barb Fritz of Apple Valley, and Steven and Debbie Fritz of West Lafayette, Ind.; one daughter Debbie and Roger Harmon of Fridley; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
He was born Jan. 5, 1913, at Sleepy Eye to Matthew and Josephine (Wintheiser) Fritz. He married Bernice Schulte on June 20, 1939 at Dorchester, Iowa.
He owned and operated Leo's City Cafe in Sleepy Eye for 35 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, Catholic Order of Foresters, Sleepy Eye Fire Department for 37 years, and a City Councilman for 17 years.
