Benjamin J. Gruendemann, 76 of Olivia and formerly of Franklin died July 28, 1999 at the Olivia Health Care Center.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lugtheran Church in Morton with burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Cairo Twp., Renville County.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m.Friday at the Hauser Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax and one hour prior to the service at the church.
He is survived by daughter Jane Gruendemann of Marshfield, Wis.; son Tom Gruendemann of Fairfax; two grandchildren; sister Alice Gooderum of Blaine; sister-in-law Lilas Gruendemann of Brainerd; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceeded in death by his parents; wife, Betty in 1986, seven brothers and two sisters.
He was born on Sept. 22, 1922 in Morgan to August and Bertha (Netzke) Gruendemann. He graduated from Morgan High School in 1940 He worked at the Morgan Super Valu Store during his high school years. In 1942 he entered the U.S. Navy, serving as a signal man on the U.S.S. John Rodgers for three years when he was honorably discharged. He married Betty Jane Morrison of Fairfax on June 17, 1947. They made their home in Franklin where he opened a grocery store, Ben's - U - Save, in 1948 which later became Ben's Super Value. He served as mayor of Franklin for many years and he was active with the fire department and ambulance service. In 1986 he sold the grocery store to take over his wife's business, the B and B Variety, after her death. He ran that business until the time of his retirement in 1995. He moved to Country View Estates in Fairfax, where he resided until entering the Olivia Health Care Center on Feb. 22, 1999. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Morton.

Albert Moritz, 77 of Severn, Md., formerly of Stewart, died July 29, 1999 at the Hutchinson Area Health Care center
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hughes Funeral Home in Stewart, with burial in Round Grove Lakeside Cemetery in Stewart.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Stewart, and one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife; son David and his wife Karol Moritz of Brooklyn Park, Md., two granddaughters; brother Virgil and his wife Bernice Moritz of Stewart; sister Lillie Wandrei of Hopkins; nieces, nephews.
He was preceeded in death by his parents and sisters Bertha and Hulda.
He was born Feb. 4, 1922 in Grafton Township, Sibley County to Herman and Ida (Patzold) Moritz. He grew up in the Stewart area, attending District 8 Rural School. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II, stationed in the Phillipinnes. He married Alice Marie Molitor April 22, 1949 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stewart. He worked for Minneapolis Moline in Hopkins. When he moved back to Stewart he worked with Melvin Wacker and later for Ziemann and Klitzke. From 1958-78 he operated Moritz Brothers Implement in Stewarat, and from 1978-89 he worked on the Lyle Penk farm. In 1989 the couple moved to Severn, Md. where he enjoyed his retirement years working for the American Legion Post 34 and Post 276 in Anne Arundel County. Albert was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the American Legion and the V.F.W. in Stewart.

Nathaniel "Ted" Ackerson, 89 of 109 Center St., died Thursday, July 29, 1999 at his home.
Garveside services will be 10:15 a.m. Saturday at New Ulm Cemetery with full military honors conducted by New Ulm veterans organizations.
Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Thomas and Carol Faye Ackerson of New Ulm; Rodney and Elena Ackerson of New Carlisle, Ohio; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1986; son Myron; a twin brother; one sister.
He was born Aug. 30, 1090 in Elbow Lake to Nathaniel and Alvina (Kiesling) Ackerson. The family moved to New Ulm where he attended school. He married Luella Olson Feb. 20, 1937 in Reno, Nev. Following their marriage, they traveled as part of his 21 years of service in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge from the Navy, he worked for the Highway Department and later Web Core in new Ulm. In 1956 he began work as a guard with Kraft Foods in New Ulm, retiring in 1972. He was a life member of VFW Post 1648 and American Legion Post 132 of New Ulm, the Naval Fleet Reserve, and Junior Pioneers.

Lena A. Trebesch, 93, of 1100 1st Avenue South, Apartment #145 in Sleepy Eye, died Friday, July 30, 1999 at the Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Monday.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Laurel Beilke, Karen and Rolland Pyan all of Sleepy Eye, Wilma and Charles Krzmarzick of Tucson, Ariz., Eva and Ronald Larrabee of New Mexico, and Waldemar Harmening of Sleepy Eye; sons and daughters-in-law, John Trebesch of Morgan, Harold Trebesch, William and Joan Trebesch, Paul and Susan Trebesch all of Sleepy Eye; 37 grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; sisters, Olive Kelly of Sleepy Eye and Florence Trebesch of Peoria, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Theodor A. Trebesch in 1994; daughters, Delores Jean in 1951, Illa Mae Harmening in 1993; brothers, John Alt in 1989, Richard Alt in 1991, and Harold Alt in 1916; grandaughter, Pamela Beilke in 1982; and six grandchildren in infancy.
She was born on Dec. 8, 1905 in Panola Township, Illinois to Louis and Josephine (Pinkham) Alt. She married Theodor August Trebesch on Nov. 23, 1927 at their home in Stark Township, Brown County. After their marriage they farmed together in Eden Township for almost 50 years until retiring and moving to Sleepy Eye in 1976. She spent much of her spare time sewing things for her friends and family. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, a member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Ladies Aid, the Garden Club and was a 4-H Leader.

Byron W. Rudell, 66 of 309 South Broadway in New Ulm died Saturday, May 29, 1999 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Minneapolis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the City Cemetery, Soldier's Rest Section. Full military rites will be
conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Veterans Organizations.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
He is survived by his wife, LaVonne Rudell of New Ulm; daughters, Debbie Heinz and her husband Vince of Shakopee, Darcy Rudell and special friend, Blaine Hennen both of New Ulm; sons, Bill Rudell and his wife Mary of Rapid City, South Dakota, Bob Rudell of New Ulm; and six grandchildren;mother-in-law, Hattie Bolduan of the Lafayette Care Center in Lafayette; sisters, Jeanette Foltz of Pico-Riveria, Calif., Joyce Erickson of Whittier, Calif., Shirley Benrick of Sacramento, Calif.; brother, Wally and his wife Doris Rudell of Whittier, Calif.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Pauline Rudell of Monticello, Calif., Glen and Cleo Bolduan, Ron and Linda Bolduan all of New Ulm; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Floyd and Russell Rudell; brothers-in-law, Glen Benrick, Herb Foltz, Murray Erickson.
Byron was born October 18, 1932 in St. Peter to Walfred and Georgia (Leonard) Rudell. He attended St. Peter Public Schools. He married LaVonne Bolduan on Dec. 4, 1953 in Colorado Springs, Colo. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 as a tank driver. He worked as a mechanic for Retzlaff's in New Ulm, then at Knopke Motors as the parts manager, and then in the maintenance department at Martin Luther College. Most recently he worked for South Central Cleaning in New Ulm and he also cleaned for the American Legion in New Ulm.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #132 in New Ulm and a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.

Louise Luepke, 82, died Sunday, May 29, 1999 at Parkview Home, Belview.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Echo, with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home, Echo, and will continue Wednesday one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by her sons, Alvin and wife Wanda of Echo and Melvin and wife Kathy of Bemidji; daughters, Alvina Omtvedt and husband Myron of Lake George, June Krause and husband Larry of Echo, Violet Alvheim of Plymouth and Linda Cole and husband Darrel of Vesta; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and brother Joseph Gunderson of Hector.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gerhold; son Marvin; son-in-law Marvin Alvheim; two great-grandchildren; and brothers, Arthur, Clarence, Henry, Marvin and Ole.
She was born on Oct. 4, 1916 in Emmett Township, Renville County, to Martin and Helena (Miller) Gunderson. She grew up in Renville County and attended District 15 country school. She married Gerhold E. Luepke on Aug. 18, 1935 in Vesta. They farmed south of Echo in Echo Township until moving into Echo in 1973. They spent winters in the Donna, Texas area for many years. Gerhold died in 1982 and Louise entered Parkview Home in December, 1993. She was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Alyce Krzmarzick, 85 of Sleepy Eye died Sunday, May 30, 1999.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, with a Christian Mother's Rosary 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service 7 p.m., and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye.
She is survived by sons, Marvin J. and wife Alice of Burnsville, Dale and wife Dorothy of Sleepy Eye, Joel of Mankato and Randall and wife Pamela of Sleepy Eye; daughters JoAnn and husband Tom Seifert of Sleepy Eye and Judy of Worthington; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Everett and wife Marie of Sleepy Eye and Cliff and wife Helen of Bloomington; sisters, Ordell and husband Terrance Krambeer of Sleepy Eye, Marcella and husband Joseph Kestner of Albert Lea and Ann Marie West of Denver, Colo.; brother-in-law Linus G. and wife Angeline of Sleepy Eye; and sisters-in-law Agnes Kessler of Shakopee, Irene Utz of Springfield, Gladys Hoffmann of Sleepy Eye and Alice and husband Gerald Schumacher of Comfrey.
She was preceded in death by son Dean in 1974; husband Sylvester in 1998; sister-in-law Martha and husband Anton Moldan; and brothers-in-law John Kessler, Otto Utz and Leo A. Hoffmann.
She was born March 3, 1914 in Home Township, Brown County, to John and Anna (Haala) Soukup. She attended country school. She married Sylvester F. Krzmarzick on Sept. 18, 1934 in Sleepy Eye. The couple made their home and farmed in Leavenworth Township on the family's farm. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, the Christian Mother's Association, the Catholic Aid Association and had been active in 4-H over the years.

Lavern D. Oanes, 81, died Sunday, May 30, 1999 at her daughter's home in rural Lake Crystal.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church, Madelia, with burial in Waverly Cemetery, rural Trimont.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia, and one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by daughter Enid Anderson and husband Donald of rural Lake Crystal; sons, Jon and wife Catherine of St. James, Peter and wife Lorraine of Pittsburgh, Penn. and Dean of Glenville; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother Melvin and wife Bonnie Olson of Prior Lake; sisters, Velma Hise of Bloomington, Alma Luebben and husband Martin of Donna, Texas, and Burnett Pagel of Minneapolis; sisters-in-law Ruth Becker of Michigan, Serena Shaefer and husband Marvin of Colorado Springs, Colo., Selma Schmaedeka of Maynard, Nellie Oanes of Truman and Mary Olson of Lakefield.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and one sister.
She was born Dec. 25, 1917 in Triumph. She attended rural schools and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1937. She married Engval Oanes March 8, 1942 in Lakefield. They farmed in rural Ormsby until his death in May 1967. She moved to Madelia and worked at Tony Downs Foods, St. James, and later cooked at Madelia Community Hospital until retiring. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Madelia, and a former member of Waverly Lutheran Church, rural Trimont.

Elsie Yackel, 98, died Sunday, May 30, 1999 at Arnold Memorial Nursing Home, Adrian.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Adrian, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Worthington.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Lynch-Dingmann Funeral Home, Adrian and one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by daughters, Marvelle and husband Ritchey of Julesburg, Colo. and Joann and husband Ivan Brown of Sanborn; son Donald and wife Betty of St. Paul; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hugo; children, Jean and Leslie Yackel and Marion Essig; sister, Ruth Graff and Lydia Radkte; and brother Walter Kosel.
She was born April 9, 1901 in rural Lamberton, to Albert and Mary Kosel. She attended country school in the area. She married Hugo Yackel on March 5, 1921 in Sanborn. After their marriage she helped manage Yackel Steak House at the two-mile corner near Sanborn. They moved to Adrian in 1953 where they owned and operated Yackel's Bar until 1966 when she retired. She moved to Arnold Memorial Nursing Home in 1997. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Adrian. She was also a member of the Booster Club, the Garden Club and the Eastern Star in Sanborn.

Magnus Netzke, 82, of Rt. 2 Nicollet died Monday, May 31, 1999 at his home.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with burial in the church cemetery in Nicollet Township.
Visitation is 9-11 a.m. Friday at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Al and Kathy Netzke of Victoria, Carroll and Barb Netzke of New Ulm, Cedric and Carmel Netzke of Nicollet, Paul Netzke of Mankato, and Chuck and Jan Netzke of Le Sueur; daughters and sons-in-laws, Martha Weimern of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Daloris and Cal Martini of Lacoochee, Fla., Judy and Rich Noyd of St. Peter, Lucia Eichten of Wabasso, and Marvel and Steve Roberts of Madelia; 24 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucia Netzke on July 27, 1994; sister, Martha Johnson; grandchildren, Noreen Noyd, Tamara Netzke, and Christopher Netzke; and two sons-in-law.
He was born Dec. 23, 1916 in Nicollet to August and Alma (Poehler) Netzke. He attended school in Nicollet Township, and University arm School in St. Paul. He married Lucia Altenburg on Dec. 14, 1941 at the Antrim Church in rural Truman. They farmed. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet.
