Arthur J. Kieper, 95, of Sleepy Eye, died Tuesday, June 22, 1999, at Gil-Mor Manor, Morgan.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Springfield, with burial in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-9 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, and at the church Monday one hour prior to the service.
Survivors include a daughter, Gloria and husband Galen Engholm of Sleepy Eye; a son, Robert and wife Nancy Stark of Costa Mesa, Calif.; five grandchildren, Gary Stark, Shari Yekaldo, Keith Engholm, Troy Engholm, and LeRoy Engholm; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Erna Kieper of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elsie in 1984, and brothers, Albert and Reinhold.
He was born March 24, 1904, in Brookville Township, Redwood County, to August and Katherine (Polzin) Kieper. He attended country schools in Burnstown Township, and farmed in Brookville and Paxton Townships. On Nov. 25, 1950, he married Elsie Engelking Stark in Sioux Falls, S.D. The couple continued to farm until 1966, when they retired and moved into Morgan, living there until 1971, when they moved to Sleepy Eye. Art became a resident at Gil-Mor Manor in March 1999. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Springfield.

Marie Timm, 84, of Arlington, died Thursday, June 24, 1999 at her home in Arlington.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arlington with burial in the Arlington Public Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday 4-8 p.m. at the Fenske Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by sisters: Alvina Woehler of Gaylord, Emilie Severin of Gaylord and Meta Fritsch of Greendale, Wis.; nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Orrie in 1977, brothers: Gottlieb, Jr., John, David and Walter Herber; sisters, Pauline Bauer and Irene Tessmer.
She was born in Sheboygan, Wis., March 23, 1915 to Gottlieb and Elizabeth (Kober) Herber. She married Orrie Timm Jan. 16, 1938 at the Immanuel Lutheran Parsonage in Gaylord. They farmed east of Arlington for 10 years, then moved to Arlington. She was employed at H.C. Noack for 20 years, and Crystal Foods at Gaylord for 14 years.
Memorials preferred to St. Paul redecorating project.

Raymond G. Luepke, 83 of Route 2 Courtland, died Thursday June 24, 1999 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Courtland Township, Nicollet County.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30- 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and one hour prior to the service at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Amelia of rural Courtland; sisters and brother-in-law, Ardella and Wilford Maas of Nicollet, Hildegard Luepke of New Ulm, and Alice Groehler of Winthrop; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Joyce Luepke of Courtland; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Edna Bode an Verna Bode.
Raymond G. Luepke was born Jan. 3, 1916 in Brighton Township, Nicollet County to Frank and Selma (nee Rodewald) Luepke. He married Amelia Schaefer Boettger on Sept. 23, 1977 in Fairfax. He farmed in Brighton Township, Nicollet County until 1977 when he retired. After retirement he worked part time for various factories in the area and also helped the couple renting his farmland. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm, and the Farm City Hub Club. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Redeemer Lutheran Church or to the donors choice.

Hazel O'Neil, age 76, of Morton, died Saturday, June 26, 1999 at the Redwood Falls Hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, at the United Methodist Church in Morton with burial in the Morton City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and one hour prior to the services at church.
She is survived by daughters Barb Greenslit and husband Tom, Pat Tisdell and husband Bob, all of Hastings, Sue Berberick and husband Jim of Tomah, Wis.; sons Jerry O'Neil of Minneapolis, Rick O'Neil of Morton; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband Marvin O'Neil Sr.; son Marvin Jr., daughter Judy, and son in infancy.
She was born to Walter and Rose (Haas) Blue Nov. 9, 1922 in Morton. She grew up and attended schools in Morton, graduating from Morton High School. On March 15, 1942 she married Marvin H. O'Neil at the Zion Lutheran Church in Morton. They made their home in Morton and she worked as a homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Morton and the United Methodist Women.

Ilo C. Lawrence, 94, died Friday, June 25, 1999, at Winthrop Good Samaritan Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Faith United Church, Winthrop, with burial in Glencoe City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-8 a.m. Wednesday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop, and will continue Wednesday one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by friends and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leo; her parents; and sisters, Ella, Nina and Gladys.
She was born Oct. 25, 1904 in Arthur Township, Traverse County, to George and Marie (Bergen) Bowyer. She attended school in Browns Valley and continued her education at Moorhead State Teachers College. She began her teaching career in McLeod County. She later taught in Bismarck Township, Sibley County. She worked as a teacher for six years. She married Leo Lawrenz on March 10, 1934 in Browns Valley. The couple farmed in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, until they retired and moved into Winthrop in 1972. She worked for several years at the Winthrop Good Samaritan center and was later an active volunteer there. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Winthrop.

Anna Pohlen, 92, died Saturday, June 26, 1999 at Wabasso Health Care Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wabasso, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. today at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wabasso and will continue Tuesday one hour prior to services. There will be a parish prayer service 7:30 p.m. today at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wabasso.
Kulow Funeral Service, Echo, is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband Crist of Wabasso; children and spouses, Emma and Harold Iffert of Morgan, Donald and Shirley of Wabasso, Aurelia and Douglas Lechner of Redwood Falls, Theresa and Dean Daas of Richmond, Bernice and Gerald Guetter of Wabasso, Luella and Ralph Heiling of Morgan and Christopher and Becky of Garland, Texas; 33 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and brother Chris Fernholz of Benson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, three sisters and one grandchild.
She was born March 15, 1907 near Wanda to Louis and Emma (Gorres) Fernholz. She grew up near Wanda and attended country school. She married Crist Pohlen on May 1, 1933 in Wabasso. She and her husband farmed. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wabasso, and St. Anne's Council of Catholic Women.

Edwin P. Walz, 74, died Friday, June 25, 1999, in Fairfax.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Fairfax, with burial in the church cemetery in Cairo Township, Renville County. Full military rites will be conducted by the Fairfax Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Fairfax, and will continue Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
He is survived by his wife Bernadine "Bernie"; son Eugene of Fairfax; daughters, Regene Graen and husband Rick of Chandler, Ariz. and Geraldine "Geri" Dreier and husband Todd of Waconia; grandchildren, Jared and Sarah Dreier and Kate Graen; brothers, Clarence and wife Helen of St. Cloud and Ivan and wife Tilly of Huron, S.D.; sisters, Clara Heisel and husband Clea of Lyons, Ore., Virginia Fenske and husband Eugene of Woonsocket, S.D., Darlene Boltzer and husband Oscar of Huron, S.D. and Donna VanDiepen and husband Eugene of Sioux Falls, S.D.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gerald and Lorraine Wolterman of Charles City, Iowa; stepmother Ella Walz of Huron, S.D.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born Dec. 30, 1924 in Yale, S.D. to Edward and Susan (Tschetter) Walz. He attended Huron country school and Yale High School. He entered the U.S. Army in April of 1945, where he served as a military policeman in Germany during World War II. He received an honorable discharge in April 1947. He moved to Fairfax in July 1947, where he owned and operated Eddie's Recreation with his brother Clarence. He married Bernadine M. Pfeffer on Nov. 3, 1947 in Fairfax. Over the years he worked at several places, including the Fullerton Pop Factory, Peitrus Produce and for the City of Fairfax, from which he retired in 1985, after 17 years of employment. After his retirement he worked for Dittmer Oil Company and Weis Oil Company. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Fairfax. He was also a member of the Fairfax V.F.W. Post No. 8459, where he served as commander from 1957-1959.

Sarah Lucas, 93, died Thursday, June 24, 1999 at Wood Dale Nursing Home, Redwood Falls.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Winthrop, with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8 a.m. Tuesday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop, and will continue Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by her daughters, Helen Cruse of Scottsdale, Ariz., Ruby Stiras and husband Dick of Minneapolis and Anita Lucas of Redwood Falls; sons, DeWald and wife Helen Jane of Phoenix, and Willard and wife Pat of Morton; 24 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Walter in 1979; daughter Corrine Lucas in 1996; brothers, August, Henry, Carl and Frank Pagel; sisters, Elizabeth Buntrock, Anna Becke and two sisters in childhood.
She was born May 17, 1906 in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, to William and Ida (Streseman) Pagel. She grew up and attended country school in Bismarck Township. She married Walter Lucas on May 24, 1924 in Winthrop. She was a homemaker most of her life. She also worked at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Care Center for 10 years. She resided in Winthrop until she entered the Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls in December 1996. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Winthrop, where she was a member of the Ladies' Guild.

Arthur H. Fortwengler, 82 of Watertown, died Wednesday, June 23, 1999, at Elim Home in Watertown.
Services were held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery in Watertown.
He is survived by wife Ernestine; children and spouses, Joan and Odean Kelsay of Blaine, Marlene and Art Scherber of Hamel, James and Marian Fortwengler of Ramsey, Rosalinda Menth of Waconia, Jeanne and KEith Brose of Howard Lake, Rebecca and John Henschen of Mayer; daughter-in-law, Carol and husband Willis Loistiko of Watertown; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold and wife Alice Fortwengler of New Ulm, Joseph and Anna Fortwengler of New Ulm; sister, Florenda (Sweetie) Richter of New Ulm; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marguerite and George Limbrecht of Florida, Marie Burger of Florida, John and Susan Orban of Washington; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by son,Gene Fortwengler; grandson, Ryan Johnson; parents, Frank and Louise Fortwengler; twin brother John; and sister, Marianne Fortwengler.
He was born in New Ulm in 1917 to Frank and Louise (Metzen) Fortwengler. He worked for Loretto Hospital for approximately four years. He farmed most of his life in New Ulm area and in the Watertown area. He worked at Midwest Sale in Watertown from 1971 until his retirement.

Grace Hansen, 91, of Evan, died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at Mankato.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Evan, with burial in Brookville-Dannebod Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, and will also continue one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by son, David and wife Sharyn of Mill Valley, Calif.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Alice Mogensen of Los Angeles, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester in 1985; daughter, Ramona Lambrecht in 1991; grandsons, Dale and Donald Lambrecht; brothers, Harry and Elmer; sisters, Emma Hansen, Laura Hansen, Florence Gilland, Mary Jensen, and Mabel Meinert.
She was born Oct. 4, 1907, in Prairieville Township, Brown County, to John and Minnie (Jorgensen) Christensen. She grew up and attended country school near Evan. She married Lester V. Hansen on Dec. 12, 1928 in Evan. They lived in Prairieville Township. In 1938 they moved to Evan, where they made their home for many years. She later moved to Gil-Mor Nursing Home in Morgan. She wrote for the Sleepy Eye Herald Dispatch for several years. She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Evan.
