Lilly M. Sandberg, 92, of Odin, died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Odin with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the church.
She is survived by sons, Melvin and wife Agnes of rural Butterfield, LeRoy and wife Bernice of Fairmont; daughter, Florence Baarson and husband Olgar of Odin; 24 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Nordby of Windom, Louise Eckstrom and husband John of Butterfield, Olive Gay and husband Richard of St. James; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank Sandberg in May 1965. ; six brothers; and other relatives.
She was born Oct. 1, 1906, to Andrew and Helene Holland in Norway, Iowa. When she was eight her family moved to Odin Township where she attended District 33 rural school. On Feb. 10, 1925 she married Frank Sandberg at St. James. They lived on a farm in Long Lake Township, Watonwan County. She continued to live on the farm until becoming a resident of Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid.

Frances Anderson, 83, of Minneapolis, died June 16, 1999 at Edina Care Center in Edina.
Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, at Nora Unitarian Church in Hanska. Memorials are preferred to Nora Unitarian Church or donor's choice.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Muriel and Earle Webb of Minneapolis; sister-in-law, Patricia Anderson of Eau Claire, Wisc., cousins and many friends.
She was born Feb. 7, 1916 to Minnie and Henry Anderson of Hanska. She attended elementary and high school in Hanska and New Ulm. She graduate from the University of Minnesota. Her career was spent entirely in the medical field. She served as a medical technician in several hospitals before she was employed as head technician at Fairview Hospital until her retirement.

Dr. Rex R. Johnson, 75, of Lakefield, died on June 24, 1999 on Lake Winnibigoshish in Cass County.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lakefield.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the Hansen Funeral Home in Lakefield, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia; sons, J.C. in Minnesota and Rex Jr. in New Mexico; daughters, Natalie and her husband Dan Ludewig of South Dakota, Raquel Pederson of Minnesota, Linda Brower of Minnesota and Stephanie of Vermont; nine grandchildren; and sister Theda Tracht of Texas.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Gregory; and brother, J.C.
He was born Jan. 12, 1924, to Dr. William and Thelma (Stewart) Johnson in Casper, Wyo. As a young child he moved to Fairfield, Ala., and attended school there. He attended Allen Military Academy in Bryon, Texas and college in Wyoming. He enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps on Aug. 12, 1943 in San Antonio and served overseas. He was discharged on April 9, 1946. He attended medical school at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kent. and radiology training at University of Georgia in Augusta. He moved to New Ulm and was a radiologist for many hospitals and clinics in southwest Minnesota. He married Marcia Christensen on June 8, 1977 in Armstrong, Iowa. They lived in Lakefield.

Mary Fuhr, 50, of rural Wabasso died Monday, June 28, 1999, at Redwood Falls Hospital from injures sustained in an automobile accident.
Services are 10:30 a.m.Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and will continues on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to the Wabasso Public Library.
She is survived by her husband, David of rural Wabasso; daughter, Amy Hamberger and husband Steven of Minnetonka; sons; Daniel and Jay of Wabasso, grandson, Nathaniel Thompson of Garrison, S.D.; parents, Herb and Ollie Weitz of St. Louis Park; brothers, Gary Weitz and wife Beth of Minneapolis; and Rocky Weitz and wife Terri of Chaska; and father-in-law, Myron Fuhr of Redwood Falls.
She was born to Herbert and Olivie (Eide) Weitz was born on June 9, 1949 in Oshkosh, Wis.. She moved with her family to St. Louis Park where she graduated from High School in 1967. She attended the University of Minnesota. On Feb. 27, 1972 she married David Fuhr at Westwood Lutheran Church in St. Louis Park. They lived in Sheridan Township, Redwood County She was community education director for District 4640 at Wabasso for the past 15 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was active in her church including elder, deacon, education director, youth coordinator and choir member. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Seaforth.

Paul Henderson, 70 of Glencoe, died June 27, 1999 at Glencoe Area Health Center.
Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Buffalo Lake Elementary School in Buffalo Lake with burial in the Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hughes Funeral Home in Stewart, and continues one hour prior to the service at the school on Thursday.
He is survived by his wife, Emma of Glencoe; children and their spouses, Owen and wife Susan of Albuquerque, N.M., Vivian Murphy and husband Doug of Taos, N.M., Curtis and wife Patty of Glencoe and Douglas and wife Roxane of Glencoe; 12 grandchildren; and sister, Ruth of New Mexico.
He is preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth and Glen.
He was born near Page, North Dakota on July 4, 1928, to John and Mabel (Wulkan) Henderson. The family moved to a farm north of Hector in 1934 where he attended school. He served in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War from 1952-53. On Aug. 20, 1954, he married Emma Huisman. They farmed north of Hector until they moved to a farm northwest of Glencoe in 1963. He worked at 3M in Hutchinson from 1968 to 1993.

Chester M. Jacobson, 79 of Gaylord, died June 28, 1999 at Gaylord Lakeview Home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at American Lutheran Church in Gaylord with burial in the Gaylord Municipal Cemetery with full military honors by the Gaylord Mantley-Asmus American Legion Post 433.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord and continues one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; son, Timothy and his fiancee Sue Gantzer of Brooklyn Park; daughter, Bonnie and her husband Bryan Hahn; one grandson; sisters, Betty Jacobson of Morris, Beverly and her husband Eugene Muehlenhardt of Burnsville; brother, Donald and his wife Rose Jacobson of Ashby; and brother-in-law Paul Schumacher of Eagan.
He is preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Varnum and Lucille Schumacher and three sisters in infancy.
He was born June 26, 1920 to Rufus and Buelah J. (Anderson) Jacobson near Morris. He attended rural school and graduated from high school at the Agriculture Institute at the University of Minnesota at Morris. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a tack sergeant and was stationed in Korea. He married Marie Rieckman on Aug. 10, 1947 at Peace Lutheran Church in Morris. He was employed by the Minnesota Department of Transportation for 32 years. He worked briefly in Mapleton before transferring to the Gaylord site in 1953. He retired in 1982.

Hugo "Hooks" Peuser, 93, of 1005 South Minnesota Street in New Ulm died Thursday April 29, 1999 at the Lafayette Good Samaritan Center in Lafayette from complication of diabetes.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in the City Cemetery, Soldiers Rest Section. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Veterans Organization.
Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
Hugo is survived by his wife, Hazel Peuser of New Ulm; sister Ella Windhorn of the Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan; sister-in-law Ellie Peuser of New Ulm; brother-in-law Clayton Evenson of Gibbon; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death his parents; brothers, George, Kurt, and Louis Peuser; sister Alyce Meinhardt.
He was born March 10, 1906 in New Ulm to George and Barbara (Lindmeier) Peuser. He attended Holy Trinity School in New Ulm. He married Hazel Evenson on June 28, 1947 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in New Ulm. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June of 1997. He spent three years in the United States Navy with the Seabees during World War II and was stationed in Hawaii. After his military service he moved back to New Ulm where he worked for various construction companies around New Ulm, retiring in 1970. He was a life member of the American Legion Post # 132 in New Ulm, and a life member of the VFW Post #1648 in New Ulm.

Mary E. Nagel, 69, of Arlington, died Friday, April 30, 1999 at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington with burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Arlington Township.
Visitation will be held 5-9 p.m. Monday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington and will continue Tuesday one hour prior to service at the church.
The Fenske Funeral Home in Arlington is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by husband Myron Nagel, of Arlington; son Myron Jr. (Punk) Nagel of Ramona, S.D.; daughters and sons-in-law: Marcia Haggenmiller of Arlington, Myra and Terry Green of Hornick, Iowa; Maxine and Larry Drause of Madison, S.D.; and Monica and Tony Broughten of Eagle Lake; brothers and sisters-in-law: Henry and Irene of Hastings, Emmanuel of Victoria, Robert and Dorothy of Hastings, Ed and Pat of Lincoln, Neb., and John and June Roth of Chino Valley, Ariz.; sisters: Frida Laabs of Waconia, Eva Braumbaugh of Mesa, Ariz.; and Carol Wheeler of Florida; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
She was born on March 13, 1930 in Dryden Township, Arlington, to Henry and Ameila (Trebelhorn) Roth. She attended eight years at St. Paul's Parochial School in Arlington. She married Myron M. Nagel, Sr. on May 1, 1948 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Arlington.
She worked for 30 years at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center as a medication aide. She retired in the late 1980's. She was a member of Zion Lutheran L.C.W., Rebecca Circle, helped serve meals at Sr. Site in Henderson, and did volunteer work in Henderson.

Carol Ann Pitka, 48, Norwood, died Friday morning, April 23, 1999 at her home following a long illness.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. Local arrangements are being handled by Firle Funeral Home, New Ulm.
She is survived by her mother Laura Pitka of New Ulm, brother Gerald Pitka of Montrose, cousins Tom and Lynn Pitka Revell of California; Sandra Stoltenew of West Des Moines, Beverly Drager of Le;mont, Il. and Ramona Ranstrom of Robbinsdale. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence.
She was born the daughter of Laura and Clarence Pitka on Aug. 1, 1950 in New Ulm. At the age of four, she moved with her family to Willmar where she attended school through her junior year. She moved with her family to Ankeny, Iowa where she graduated from high school in 1968. She worked for Prudential for 12 years and then was hired by C.D.A. (later purchased by Great West). In November of 1998, she started with C.B.S. of America, where she worked a short time until illness forced her resignation in February of this year.

Ida M.H. Johnson, 93, of Walnut Grove, died Friday, April 30, 1999 at the Springfield Hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove with burial in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday 4-9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home in Walnut Grove. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the services.
She is survived by four children; Donald E. (Judy) Johnson of Walnut Grove, Douglas (Sharon) Johnson of Brooklyn Park, Evonne (Gene) Phillippe of Wilmar and Dennis (Joann) Johnson of Rochester; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anton, in September of 1986.
She was born Sept. 3, 1905 on the family farm near Amiret, the daughter of Jacob and Minnie (Bruemmer) Schroi. She was baptized Oct. 22, 1905 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Tracy and was confirmed June 5, 1921 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tracy. She received her formal education in rural school south of Garvin.
Ida married Anton Johnson on June 24, 1929 in San Francisco, Calif., while both were employed by the Salvation Army. After a short time the couple moved to Butte, Montana and then moved to Minnesota where they farmed (1936) south of Tracy and later the couple farmed north of Walnut Grove until Anton retired.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove. She had belonged to the Tracy Hospital Auxiliary Gales Neighborhood Club, Gales Extension, the Springdale Auxilliary. Recently she had been a resident at the Valley View Manor in Lamberton.

Venner G. Poppe, 80, of Good Thunder, died Friday, April 30 ,1999 at the Mapleton Community Home.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors in Good Thunder.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, with a 7:30 p.m. Prayer service at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation continues one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Poppe, of Good Thunder, four daughters; Joyce Friedrichs and her husband Donald of Good Thunder, Carolyn Garman and her husband Richard of Good Thunder, Louise Lund and her husband Mike of Janesville, Lisa Hoehn and her husband Steve of Good Thunder; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother Leslie Poppe of Good Thunder; two sisters: Rosella Bartsch of Hobbs, New Mexico, Adaline Leffel of Good Thunder; many cousins and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
He was born on April 8, 1919 in Martin County, to Louis and Louise (Nolte) Poppe. He attended Jewitt Country School, St. John's Lutheran School of Good Thunder and graduated from Good Thunder Public School. He attended Mankato Teacher's College and Gustavus Adolphus College. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Reno. He married Alice E. Sandstrom on Sept. 7, 1946 in Mankato. They farmed in rural Good Thunder.
He was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church holding several positions in the church and the Lutheran Layman's League. He served many years on the school boards of St. John's Lutheran School, Rapidan Public School and Wellcome Memorial High School of Garden City. He served on the Federal Land Bank Board for 30 years, the Blue Earth County Coop board of Amboy and Beauford for 30 years, the Blue Earth County Farm Bureau and the Blue Earth County Extension Board. He was a member of the Good Thunder American Legion Post #616 and the Mankato VFW Post #950.
