Marjorie Hartmann, 63, of Thief River Falls, died Tuesday, May 4, 1999 at Dakota Heartland Hospital, Fargo, N.D.
Services were held Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Beaulieu with burial at Riverside Memorial Park, Mahnomen.
Mattson Funeral Home, Mahnomen, was in charge of arrangements.

Anton Shebetka, 92, of Sleepy Eye, died Tuesday, May 11, 1999 in New Ulm.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Union Congregational Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his wife Elsie; children, Jerry and wife Florence of Elk River, Marlene Kraus of New Ulm, and Judy and husband Bob Seago of St. Louis; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was born Sept. 4, 1906 in Oldham, S.D., to Rudolph and Tillie (Marek) Shebetka. He moved with his family to rural Sleepy Eye in 1914, where he lived on a farm southwest of town. He started school in South Dakota and later attended country school in Leavenworth Township. He married Elsie E. Blackmore on Feb. 14, 1933 in Kankakee, Ill. For several years he worked at the Sleepy Eye Auction Market in addition to farming.

Elmer Koenig, 89, died Monday, May 10, 1999 at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Zion United Methodist Church, Buffalo Lake, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the church and will continue one hour prior to services.
Arrangements are with Hughes Funeral Home, Buffalo Lake.
He is survived by his wife Verna; children, Marlys Foss and husband Richard of Richfield, Karren Goede and husband Kenneth of St. Louis, and Randall and wife Mary of Burnsville; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Martha Rusch of Buffalo Lake; half-sister Myra Lindquist of Olivia; sister-in-law Lucille Moritz of Elkhart, Ind.; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Wilhelm, Herman, Henry; and sisters Dela Ebent and Viola Koenig.
He was born June 14, 1909 in Martinsburg Township, Renville County, to Ferdinand and Fredericka (Ebert) Koenig. He grew up in the Buffalo Lake area. He married Verna Moritz on May 27, 1934 in rural Hector. The couple lived in Buffalo Lake. He worked as a carpenter. He was later Director of Transportation at Buffalo Lake Schools for 33 years. He was Buffalo Lake Fire Chief for 11 years. He was twice elected to the Buffalo Lake City Council. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Buffalo Lake, where he sang in a male quartet. He served as sexton for Zion Evangelical Cemetery.

Minnie Boysen, 100, died Monday, May, 10, 1999 at Luther Memorial Home, Madelia.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Madelia, with burial in Waverly Cemetery.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia, is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by son James and wife Nancy of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; five brothers; and two sisters.
She was born May 6, 1899 in Truman, to Mons and Siri (Johnson) Olson. She grew up in Truman and graduated from Truman High School. She attended the University of Iowa School of Nursing.She worked as a nurse in Iowa. She married Herbert Boysen on Oct. 3, 1923 in Mankato. They lived in Truman until 1927, Welcome until 1941 and then moved to Madelia. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church , church circles, WELCA, and the sewing circle. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Minnesota Senior Federation. After Herbert died in January 1981, she remained in Madelia and became a resident of Luther Memorial Home in January 1989.

Leona Barnes, 96, of Redwood Falls, died Tuesday, May 11, 1999 at Sunwood Good Samaritan Center in Redwood Falls.
Services are 10:30 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls with burial in the New Avon Salem United Methodist Cemetery in New Avon Township.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls.
She is survived by children and their spouses; Marilynn Guardia and husband Robert of Pascagoula, Miss., Elaine Watson and husband Lewis of Houston, Pa., Audrey Tracy and husband Pat of Burnsville, N.C., Dewan Barnes of Burnsville, Duane Barnes and special friend Vi of Minneapolis, Rupert Barnes and wife Frances of Belview, Virginia Norcutt of Plymouth, Dallas Barnes and wife Donna of Burnsville, Bette Barnes of Redwood Falls, Richard Barnes and wife Muriel of Rosemount, Dean Barnes and wife Mary Jo of Fountain, Fla., MyrI Barnes and wife Jeannine of St. Peter, Burlyn Barnes Jr. and wife Karen of Redwood Falls, James Barnes and wife Patricia of Redwood Falls and Sharon Kretsch and husband Bernie of Redwood Falls; 56 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard Hauptli and wife Dorothy and sister Lillian Lensing; and sister-in-law Lona Hauptli all of Wabasso.
She was preceded in death by her husband Burlyn on Jan. 18, 1952; two children in infancy Darrell and Sandra; four grandchildren; and brothers John, Elmer, Albert, Henry, Ervin and Fredrick in infancy.
She was born on July 13, 1902 in New Avon Township to daughter of Fred and Mary (Bill) Hauptli. She grew up in New Avon Township and attended District 8 School. On June 4, 1921 she married Burlyn Barnes at the United Methodist Parsonage in Redwood Falls. They made their home in Redwood County. She was a member of New Avon Salem United Methodist Church and a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Redwood Falls.

Malinda M. Krueger, age 87 or Hutchinson, formerly of Arlington, died May 11, 1999, at Cedar Crest Care Center in Hutchinson.
Services are Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arlington with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is Thursday from 4-9 p.m. at Fenske Funeral Home in Arlington.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Orville and LaRane of Glencoe, Darwin and Vangie of Grinell, Iowa, Virgil and Arlys of Ogden, Iowa, Raymond and Lucille of Hutchinson, Kenneth and Marlene of Mankato, Harlan and Barbara of Arlington, Ronald and Pamela of Arlington; daughters and sons-in-law Elvera and Herbert Timm of Kewaunee, Wis., Leona and Lowell Thomas of Clinton, Mo., Marlys Mayfield and fiancee Rick Kienietz of Burnsville; brothers Herold Hafemann of Henderson, Lorenz Hafemann of Arlington; 28 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband Ernst on May 5, 1982; daughter Mayona; and daughter-in-law Ann Krueger.
She was born Sept. 8, 1911, in Green Isle Township, Sibley County, to Herman and Adeline (Hafemann) Bullert. She attended rural country. On March 26, 1933 she married Ernst H. Krueger in Arlington. They farmed in Dryden and New Auburn Townships until 1973. She moved to the Cedar Crest Care Center in Hutchinson in the early 1990. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Ladies Aid and Senior Citizens.

Kristin Kuehn, 41, died Monday, May 10, 1999 at her home in Esparto, Calif.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at the family home, with burial in Capay Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be directed to a scholarship fund set up in her name. Donations should be mailed to US Bank, 120 West Court Street, Woodland, CA 95694, attention: Kristin Kuehn Memorial Scholarship Fund.
She is survived by her husband Michael; sons, Patrick and Brandon; in-laws, Raymond and Doris Kuehn of New Ulm; father Maurice Clements; mother Barbara Craven; brothers, Mark and Matthew Clements; and sisters, Karrie Holm and Jennifer.
She was born June 12, 1957 in Nampa, Idaho, where she grew up. She graduated from Oregon State University in 1983 with a BS in ornamental horticulture. She married Michael Kuehn on February 25, 1984 in Winters, Calif. For the past 10 years, they owned and operated Kuehn Petals and Greens, a specialty cut flower production farm near Esparto. She also taught music and gross motor skills in the elementary school, flower design classes.

Ralph Niles, 84, of Hector, died Wednesday, May 12, 1999 at Rice Memorial Hospital, Willmar.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Sunday at United Methodist Church, Hector, with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Hughes Funeral Home, Hector, and will continue Sunday one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by daughter-in-law Sharon of Buffalo Lake; children, George Garlock and wife Dorothy of Minnetonka and Betty Pagel of Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Ray Niles of Florida; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lucinda and his son Orlin.
He was born Jan. 18, 1915 in Savage, Mont. to Orlen and Mary (Josephson) Niles. He grew up in the Appleton and Hector areas. He married Lucinda Kuether on Aug. 1, 1939 in Buffalo Lake. The couple lived in Hector, St. Paul, Minneapolis and Appleton before returning to the Hector area. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hector.

Opal Swanson, 83, died Wednesday, May 12, 1999 at Renville County Hospital, Olivia.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church, Hector, with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Hughes Funeral Home, Hector and will continue Monday one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by her husband Stanley; daughter and son-in-law Kathryn and Russell Peris of Hector; son Dwight of Hector; grandsons, Brock and Bryan of Hector; brother-in-law Sylvester Hursch of Poplar, Wisc.; sisters-in-law, Edna Harvey of Hector and Lillian Lind of Minneapolis; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
She was born Aug. 12, 1915 in Tomahawk, Wisc. to Nels J. and Dora (Johnson) Lind. She graduated from the Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis in 1934. She married Stanley Swanson on Sept. 27, 1941 in Hector. The couple farmed in Martinsburg Township. She was active with the United Methodist Women and the United Methodist Church in Hector. She also belonged to the Birthday Club and the Renville County Hospital Auxiliary.

Evelyn S. Kunz, 76, of Madelia, died Thursday, May 13, 1999, at Immanuel-St. Joseph is Hospital in Mankato.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Madelia, with burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Madelia.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the church with a rosary recited at 4 p.m. and a prayer service at 8 p.m. Visitation continues 9:15-10:15 a.m. Monday at the Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia.
Survivors include sons, Rev. Jame Kunz of Rochester, Rev. John Kunz of Waseca, Earl and wife Sylvia of Madelia, and Richard and wife Julie of Eagle Lake; a daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Tom Cunningham of Chicago, Ill.; eight grandchildren; brothers and their wives Virgil and Verlene Lenhoff of Omaha, Neb., Charles and Franci Lenhoff and Don and Marie Lenhoff, all of Randolph, Neb.; sisters, Marina Gubbels and Rosemary Pflanz and husband Donovan, all of Randolph and Charlotte Perron of Faribault.
She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers Harold, Burness and Richard, and a sister Ellen Gubbels.
She was born Feb. 27, 1923, in Randolph to Charles and Mary (Leiting) Lenhoff. She grew up in Randolph and graduated from St. Francis School. She went to college and received a teaching degree. She taught school in Nebraska and later at St. Mary's School in Madelia about 15 years. She married Robert Kunz on May 6, 1946, at St. Francis Church in Randolph and they made their home in Madelia. She worked several years at Fashion Lane Store, Madelia, as a clerk. She was a very active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and many church groups including CCW, liturgy committee and Catholic Aid Association. She was also a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries.

Frank Patton, 81 of Sun City West, Ariz, formerly of New Ulm, died Thursday, May 13, 1999, at Sun City West.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Camino Del Sol Funeral Chapel, Sun City West.
He is survived by daughters, Barbara E. Cogan of Melbourne, Fla., Dianne K. Holt of Humbolt, Iowa, and Dierdre A. Hobs of Walnut, Calif.; a son, George Coolman of Florida; five grandchildren, and a brother, William A. Patton of Flora, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Arline Patton and Thais Patton.
He was born Sept. 17, 1917, in Peoria, Ill. He started working with Borden, Inc., in 1940, following graduation from the University of Illinois. He served in World War II, and was called to active duty in the Korean War.
Patton came to New Ulm in 1947 as assistant manager of the Borden plant, which now owned by Firmenich, Inc. He was promoted to plant manager in 1950, and held that position until he was promoted to operations manager in Borden Division Headquarters in 1979, when he moved to Columbus, Ohio. He retired in 1981.
While in New Ulm he was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Rotary Club the Chamber of Commerce, and the New Ulm Country Club. He was a member of the Sun City West Kiwanis Club and the High Twelve Club.
