Elaine L. Springer, 55, of Winthrop died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999 a New Ulm Medical Center.
Services are 10 a.m. today at Zion Lutheran Church in Winthrop with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation continues one hour before the service today at the church. Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop handled arrangements.
She is survived by husband, John Springer of Winthrop; daughter, Angie Neuman and husband Kevin of Fairfax; son, Scott Springer and wife Mona of Hudson grandchildren, Jessica and Aaron Neuman; mother, Leona Kruggel of Winthrop; brothers, Jim Kruggel and wife Carol of Winthrop, and Denny Kruggel of Winthrop; sister, Kathy Volkmann of Winthrop; brother-in-law, Ron Springer and wife Sharon of Corona, Calif.; sister-in-law, Joyce Osland and husband Stan of Tracy; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Norman Kruggel and sister Jean Kruggel.
She was born April 21, 1944 in New Ulm. She grew up in the Winthrop area and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1962. She worked in the Twin Cities at Auto Miles, an auto store, as a secretary. She also worked for the City of Winthrop as a secretary at City Hall for over 20 years. She married John Springer on Dec. 28, 1966 at First Lutheran Church in Winthrop. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Winthrop.

Robert 'Bob' Johnson, 60, of rural Garden City, died Thursday, Oct.5, 1999, at Madelia Community Hospital.
Services are 2 p.m. today at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Vernon Center with burial in the Vernon Center Cemetery.
Visitation is one hour before services at the church.
Lake Crystal Mortuary handled arrangements.
Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of rural Garden City; children, Robin Henke and husband Craig of North Mankato, Wendy Johnson and fiance Scott Amundson of North Mankato, Jodi Radde and husband Darren of Granger, Ind., Tracy Johnson of Garden City, Chad Johnson and wife Patricia of North Mankato, Brent Johnson and wife Leslie of Lake Crystal; grandchildren, Jeremy and Jessica Henke, Noah Radde, Taylor Amundson; sister, Shirley Urban of Vernon Center; brother, Wayne Johnson and wife Janet of Hanska; nieces; nephews; and mother-in-law, Sylvia Denn of Lewisville; sister-in-law Sandra Radloff and husband Verne of Essig; brother-in-law, Jerry Denn and his wife Alice of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, a brother-in-law and his father-in-law.
He was born Jan. 15, 1939, in Mankato to Harley and Hildegarde (Reinke) Johnson. He graduated from Garden City High School. On June 6, 1960 he married Phyllis Denn at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Vernon Center. He worked for Vernon Center Feed Service, Lewisville Motors for 28 years and was most recently employed with Kato Light Corporation in Mankato. He and his son Brent farmed together in the Garden City area. He was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where he had been an usher.

Alfred Herbert Wendel, Sr., 90, of Mabel and formerly of Spring Grove died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at his son's home in Mabel.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. tonight at Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
He is survived by sons, Alfred Jr, and wife Laurie of Mabel, and Donald and wife Michele of New Ulm; three step-grandchildren; brothers, Harry Wendel of Lansing, Iowa, and Bobbie and his wife Maureen Wendel of Fairmont.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sister, Lillie and brothers, Howard, Clarence and Kermit.
He was born Jan. 1, 1909, in Churchtown, Iowa, to John W. and Bertha (Engelhorn) Wendel. He attended rural school in Churchtown and lived in Churchtown until moving to the Spring Grove area in 1930. He was an Oliver Implement dealer in Spring Grove for more than 30 years. He married Ruth M. Lien on Jan 1, 1940, in the Trinity Parsonage in Spring Grove. She died Dec. 21, 1998. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. He belonged to the Spring Grove Baseball Association where he was a board member.

Robert Anthony Glasgow, 81, of St. James died Wednesday, October 6, 1999.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Holy Childhood Catholic Church in St. Paul with burial in the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Visitation will be 2:30-5:30 p.m. Sunday at Sturm Funeral Home with Knights of Columbus and Christian Mothers' Rosery at 4 p.m. and parish prayer service at 5 p.m. There is visitation 4-7 p.m. Monday at Holcomb-Henry Funeral Home in St. Pau.
He is survived by his wife Shirley; children John B. and wife JoAnne of Marshall, Robert R. and wife Susan Westra of St. Paul, Thomas and wife Nancy of Arlington, Texas, Donald A. of Shoreview, Paul E. and wife Nancy of St. Paul, Elizabeth Glasgow of East Bethel, C.Susan Tucker and husband Gerry of Richfield, Michael R. and wife Debora of White Bear Lake Twp.; 29 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; step-children: Jill Steinle and special friend Anthony Aragon, Lowel and wife Janice Steinle of Issaquah, Wash.; sisters: Frances Stewart of St. Paul, Catherine Amundson of Seattle, Wash.; Margaret and husband Pat Corcoran of St. Louis Park, Mary and husband Richard Woodcock of Salinas, Calif.; Mildred Hilken of Stockton, Calif.; brother-in-law Norman Thieling of Aurora; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Faith, in 1965; daughter Judith Ann in 1949; parents; sister Elizabeth Spitzner; brothers John and Donald.
He was born Feb. 11, 1918 in Worthington to John F. and Elizabeth C. (Ryan) Glasgow. His family moved to St. James in 1923, where he attended high school. He then worked for Banister engineering in St. Paul. In 1942, he entered the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska. as a surveyor. He married Faith Elizabeth Thieling on Nov. 29, 1947 in Wilton. They lived in Bemidji, Hazen, N.D., and Huron, S.D., before moving to St. Paul in 1952. He married Shirley Steinle in St. Paul on Sept. 19, 1969. After his retirement in 1983 they moved to St. James. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW Post #1914 and the American Legion Post #33.

Wilhelm 'Bill' J. Remus, 80, of Gibbon died Friday, October 8, 1999 at the Glencoe Area Health Center in Glencoe.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon and
will continue for one hour prior to the time of the service at the church on Tuesday. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his sister, Dora (Mrs. Ewald) Kuester of Winthrop; nieces and nephews, Kathy Gates and her husband Chuck of Forman, N.D., Scot Kuester of Winthrop, Kevin Kuester and his wife Teresa of Glencoe, Sue Kuester and her friend Phil DeLeo of Gibbon, Avonne Schuett and her husband Gerald of Brownton, Marlene Janda and her husband LeRoy of Waterville, Marlin Rose and his wife Joan of Henderson, John Hanslick and his wife Bonnie of Gibbon, Jane Bauer and her husband Kenneth of Glencoe; many grand nieces and nephews; and great grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brothers in law, Esther and Cleveland Hanslick, Mabel and Arthur Rose; brother in law, Ewald Kuester; and a grand niece, Bridget Caitlin Gates.
He was born Jan. 7, 1919 to Henry and Minnie (Pagel) Remus in Bismark Township, rural Winthrop. He lived most of his life on the farm that he was born on, until some years ago when he moved to Gibbon. Bill was an antique collector for many years and also was the owner of "Uncle Remus Rustick Relics" in Gibbon. Bill was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon and also a member of the Lions Club in Gibbon for many years.

Darwin Drill, 61, of Marshall formerly of New Ulm diedWednesday, Oct. 6, 1999 at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in the City Cemetery, Soldiers Rest Section, in New Ulm. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Veterans Organizations.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Monday and will continue from 7:30 until 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
He is survived by special friend Dorothy Yochem of Marshall, children, Keith Yochem and his wife Rhonda of Pipestone, Kevin Yochem of Marshall, and Carol Muller and her husband Joe of Red Wing; a grandson Dustin Muller; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Ken Engel and Carole and Larry Konakowitz all of New Ulm; brothers and sisters-in-law Wally and Betty Drill, Richard "Rocky" and Diane Lane, Roger and Lois Drill all of New Ulm, and Floyd and Sue Drill of Nicollet; sisters-in-law, Marlys Drill of New Ulm, Arlene Drill of Hurst, Texas, and Mary Lou Lane of Lake Crystal; and by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harvey, Denny, and Ronald; and by a sister, Sharon.
He was born June 14, 1938 in New Ulm to George and Audrey (Nelson) Drill. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran School and New Ulm Public High School. After his education he served in the United States Navy and then returned back to New Ulm where he worked for Heymann Construction. In 1974 he moved to Marshall where he was empolyed by Robert L. Carr Construction until 1996 when he retired because of failing health. He was a member of the American Legion Post #113 in Marshall.

Veronica M. Dickmeyer, 94, of Fairfax, passed away on Thursday at the Fairfax Community Home.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Fairfax, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 8 a.m. Monday until the time of Mass at St. Andrew's.
She is survived by her son, Tom Dickmeyer and his wife Ann of St. Paul; grandchildren and spouses, Craig and Jody Dickmeyer of Pequoet Lakes, Scott and Christi Dickmeyer of Cottage Grove, Timothy and Kim Dickmeyer of Woodbury, Jason and Diana Dickmeyer of Eagan; seven great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond G. Dickmeyer on April 26, 1975; brothers and sisters, John Meyer, Arthur Meyer, Chester Meyer, Molly Beck, Isabelle Bregel, Dora Anderson and Helen Meyer.
She was born Feb. 16, 1905 in Fairfax to John and Mary (Mans) Meyer. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed as a youth at St. Andrew's. She attended St. Andrew's Catholic School and graduated from the Fairfax Public School in 1923. She continued her education at St. Benedicts College in St. Joseph.
She married Raymond G. Dickmeyer on Sept. 19, 1927 at St. Andrews. She worked as a secretary at various jobs including the Village of Fairfax for 18 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of St. Andrew's and was active with the Christian Mother's Society.

Robert J. Wildt, 74, of Clements, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at his home near Clements.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday with a joint Parish and Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 p.m., and visitation will also be Wednesday from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Morgan.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Wildt of Clements; four children, Cathy Eichten and husband Terry of Mantorville, Ron Wildt and wife Martie of Lakeville, Mark Wildt of North Mankato, and Marie Worrel and husband Adam of North Mankato; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and his parents.
Robert Joseph Wildt was born May 7, 1935 in Morgan, the son of George and Ruth (Sprangler) Wildt. He grew up and attended St. Michael's School, and graduated from Morgan High School in 1953.
He entered the U.S. Army March 15, 1955 and was discharged March 14, 1957.
He married Mary Esther Burghardt on Nov. 18, 1959 at Holy Trinity Church in New Ulm. They farmed in the rural Clements area for 40 years.
Bob was a member of St. Michael's, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Aid, was secretary of the St. Michael's Cemetery Board, and was active in many church activities.

Lloyd L. Jones, 87, of Waseca died Saturday, Oct., 9, 1999, at Lake Shore Inn, Nursing Home in Waseca.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls,. Family will be present at the church from 12:30 p.m,. until the time of the service to meet and greet friends. Burial will follow at the Redwood Fans Cemetery in Redwood Falls.
Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals, Waseca, handled arrangements.
He is survived by daughter, Janice, and her husband Dale Pietig of Nisswa; sons, Jack, and his wife Janet Jones of Waseca, Doug, and his wife Lela Jones of Waseca, Randy and his wife Linda Jones of Longmont, Colo.; and stepdaughter, Esther, and her husband Bill Outten of Portsmouth, Va.; stepsons, Norman, and his wife Iva Lee Wolfe of Mesa, Ariz., Larry, and his wife Susie Wolfe of Prattville, Ala.; 14 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; brother, Francis, and his wife Gladys Jones of Springfield; sister, Nellie Anderson of Redwood Falls,.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, one granddaughter, and four brothers.
He was born in Morton, Minnesota on Aug. 20, 1912, to Frank and Emma (Rogers) Jones. He attended rural school. He married Esther M. Gray on Dec. 11, 1936 at the Christian parsonage in Redwood Falls. He farmed in southern Minnesota until moving to Sleepy Eye n 1960. He worked as a custodian for the City of Sleepy Eye until retiring in 1977. He and his wife moved to Waseca in 1992. His wife died in 1994. He married Beulah P. Wolfe on April 15, 1995 at the First Congregational Church in Waseca. Beulah passed away in 1999. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye.

Theodore Kopischke, 82, of Bemidji, formerly of Morgan, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.
Memorial service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Morgan with burial at a later date in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 10-11 a.m. at the church. Nelson Funeral Service, Redwood Falls, handled arrangements.
He is survived by brothers and sisters, August Wittwer of Jashua Tree, Calif., Amelia Billmeier of Sleepy Eye, Alvin Kopischke of Redwood Falls, Minnie Billmeier of Richfield, Gladys Stenrodden and husband Ove and Eleanor Tigges of Minneapolis, Helen Benson and husband Verlin of Cosmos, Johnny Kopischke and wife Irene of Wadena, and Lester Kopischke and wife Eileen of Bay City, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl, Herman, Edward and William; and a sister, Dolores Larson.
Theodore Fred Kopischke was born Nov. 14, 1916, in Morgan, to Carl and Anna (Richther) Kopischke. He grew up on the family farm, attending District 90 Redwood County Schools. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He returned to the family farm and farmed in the Morgan area until he retired in 1979 and moved to Bemidji.
