Raymond E. Albrecht, 76 of Sewickley, Pa. and formerly of Winthrop, died Saturday, October 2, 1999 at his home.
Burial services were held at the Sweickley Cemetery on Oct.8 followed by a memorial service at the Presbyterian Church in Sewickly.
He is survived by brother-in-law and sister, Morrell and Margaret Anderson of Gibbon; sister Joyce Petersen of Elmhurst, Ill.; four nieces and nephews and five grand-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Albrecht in 1991; his parents, and niece Heidi Petersen.
He was born Dec.30, 1926 to Almin and Selma (Otto) Albrecht in Winthrop. After graduating from Winthrop High School he attended Gustavus Adolphus College for two years where he was on the football team. He then attended the University of Minnesota where he earned a civil engineering degree with "high distinction". He worked for the Minnesota Highway Department until he went into the service during the Korean Conflict. After being discharged he worked for the Dravo Steel Corperation in Pittsburgh, Pa. for six years. He married Margaret Koncy July 10, 1954. He then worked for H.H. Robertson Steel corperation of Ambridge, Pa. in research and development for the next 31 years. While there he developed 32 patents. After his retirement, he continued to do volunteer work. He was a member of the YMCA Senior Men's Club, the Sewickley American Legion and a member and deacon of the Presbyterian Church of Sewickley.

Mabel Emelia Olson
ST. JAMES --, 96 of St. James died Wednesday, October 13, 1999 in St. James.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at East Sveadahl Lutheran Church in St.James with burial in the East Sveadahl Cemetery.
Visitation will be 7:30-11 a.m. today at the Sturm Funeral Home in St. James and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by her son Erland and his wife LaVohn of Bloomington; granddaughters: Renee Cornwell and her husband James of Maple Grove, and Theresa Olson of Minneapolis; great-grandson Ryan Cornwell; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl; brother Victor Nelson; sisters: Edna Olson and Ellen Olson and her parents.
She was born Jan. 23, 1903 in West Sveadalh to Carl and Ida Nelson and attended grade school there. She moved to St.James in 1917 where she entered St. James High School, graduating in 1921. She was a reporter for the St. James Plaindealer for a year. She then worked as a bookkeeper and a clerk for the Uhlhorn Hardware until she married Earl Olson on March 28, 1925 in the parsonage of Augustana Lutheran Church in St. James. The couple farmed in the Sveadahl community where they retired. She was active in the East Sveadahl Lutheran Church and the community.

Mabel Sifferath, 87 of Buffalo Lake died Tuesday, October 12, 1999 at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Zion United Methodist Church in Buffalo Lake with burial in the Buffalo Lake City Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church today. Memorials can be proferreded to the American Cancer Society and Renville County Hospice. Arrangements are through Hughes Funeral Home.
She is survived by her children: Ruth Jacobson and her husband Lamont of Bella Vista, Ark., Janet Bredeken and her husband Richard of rural Starbuck; Warren Sifferath and his wife Ilene of Farmington, and Linda Sifferath of Kerkhoven; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers: LeRoy Scharmer and his wife Florence, and Elmer Scharmer and wife Marcells, all of of Buffalo Lake; sister Violet Bloomquist and her husband Merrit of Nampa, Idaho; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter, daughter Donna Mae Sifferath, sisters Frances Scharmer in infancy, Myrtle Flemming, brothers Clifford, Ralph and Henry Scharmer.
She was born Feb. .3, 1912 in Martinsburg Township, Renville County, to Herman and Helena (Mueller) Scharmer. She grew up in the Buffalo Lake area and attended District 40 rural schools. She married Walter August Sifferath April 2, 1930 at the Church of the Nazarene in Buffalo Lake. The couple farmed south of Buffalo Lake. She worked at the Buffalo Lake Nursing Home. She was active in the Church of the Nazarene as pianist, a Sunday School teacher, and held many offices. She was also involved with the Grafton Extension Home Study Group, and was the adult leader for the Grafton Merry Makers 4H club.

Curtis M. Anderson, 60 of Springfield died Friday, October 15, 1999, at the Springfield Medical Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, with burial in the Springfield City Cemetery, Springfield.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.
He is survived by his wife Janice Anderson of Springfield; son Greg and Bonnie Anderson of Springfield, daughter Susan and Todd Wilmes of Sanborn and grandchildren Paul and Lea Wilmes; mother Arella Anderson of Springfield; father and mother-in-law Lewis and Wilma Wellner of Springfield; brother Donald and Clarice Anderson of Springfield; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Alfred Anderson; sister Jean Brown and mother-in-law Rosella Wellner.
He was born on Oct. 1, 1939 in Springfield to Alfred and Ardella (Ewald) Anderson. He grew up and attended school in Springfield, graduating from Springfield High School in 1957. He lived and farmed his entire life near Springfield. He served on the Sundown Township Board as clerk for 18 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Springfield. He drove for Richert Bus Service and for many school extra curricular activities.

John Huhn, 78, of Route 1 Gibbon died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999 at the Gil Mor Manor in Morgan.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. George Catholic Church in St. George with burial in the St. George Catholic Cemetery in St. George.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Monday and will continue from 7:30 until 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and then will continue for one hour prior to time of service at the church. There will be a family rosary at 6 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. both Monday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
He is survived by sisters, Veronica Huhn and Elenora Huhn, both of rural Gibbon, Marcella Sellner of Newport; a brother Albert Huhn of Winthrop; and by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born June 8, 1921 in West Newton Township, Nicollet County to John A. and Gertrude (Voltin) Huhn. He lived his entire life on the family farm and had farmed the land for 23 years before retiring in 1980. He was a life long member of the St. George Catholic Church in St. George.

M. Curtis Anderson, 60 of Springfield died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at the Springfield Medical Center.

Margaret Jutz, 84, of Gibbon died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999 at the Glencoe Area Health Center in Glencoe.
Mass of Christian burial is10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon with burial in the church cemetery in rural Gibbon.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. today and 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass on Monday at St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon is handling the arrangements.
The St. Willibrord's Council of Catholic Women will pray the rosary at 6 p.m. and there will be parish prayer service at 7 p.m., both tonight at the church.
Margaret is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Jeffery Zacharakis-Jutz of Solon, Iowa, Annette and Steve Goblirsch of Rochester, and Faith Jutz of St. Paul; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Jan Jutz of Litchfield, James and Darleen Jutz, and Fred and Ann Jutz all of rural Gibbon; 22 grandchildren; one great grandson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances and Stan Manderfeld of New Ulm, Bertha Jacoby of Springfield, Alice and Norman Groebner of New Ulm, Cathy and Ralph Leemhuis of Watertown, S.D., Lucielle Lewy of Fountain Valley, Calif., and Agnes Scarbrough of Sun City, Ariz.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Lois Berg of Mankato, and Nick and Marge Berg of Alliance, Neb.; also by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reuben on Sept. 10, 1990; and a brother, Harold Berg.
She was born May 26, 1915 in Sleepy Eye to Fred and Anna (Soukup) Berg. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Sleepy Eye and later Sanborn Public School.
She married Reuben Jutz on May 26, 1947 in Sanborn. After marriage they farmed in Severance Township, Sibley County. She was a member of St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon, and the Catholic Council of Women of St. Willibrord's.

Lyle "Red" Baker, 68, died Oct. 15, 1999, in Mankato.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in St. James with burial in the Calvary Cemetery in St. James.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-9 a.m. on Monday at the Sturm Funeral Home in St. James. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.
He is survived by his wife Mildred Baker of St. James, son James and Bonita Smith of Grapevine, Tex.,; granddaughters Robin and husband Jeff Rabey of Prior Lake, and Bobbi Jo Smith of Lincoln, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Harold.
He was born June 17, 1931 in Madelia to Earl and Mabel (Bjoin) Baker. He attended and graduated from Madelia High School. He worked at Scherr-Tumico, now known as ST Industries in St. James, retiring after 46 years there. He was a member and former trustee of the First Presbyterian Church in St. James.
He married Mildred Sellner Smith at New Ulm on April 13, 1963. He was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in St. James.

Robert 'Bob' Budahn, 38, of 906 S. Minnesota, New Ulm, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at New Ulm Medical Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church in Lake Hanska Township with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm and one hour before services at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Terri Budahn of New Ulm; son, Andrew, daughter Danielle, of New Ulm; parents, Claude and Lucille Budahn of New Ulm; brother, Bruce Budahn and wife Lori of Cottage Grove; sister Diane Duffy and her husband Robert of Cottage Grove; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Warren and Shirley Brudelie of Hanska; brothers-in-law, Tim Brudelie of Hanska and special friend Diane Beyer of Mankato; Jon Brudelie of Hanska and special friend Betsy Domeier of Mankato; sister-in-law, Jackie Farasyn and Tom of New Ulm; aunts and uncles; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
He was born Oct. 18, 1960, in New Ulm, to Claude and Lucille (Dressen) Budahn. He graduated from New Ulm High School. He earned a B.S. degree in construction management from Mankato State University. He married Terri Brudelie on Sept. 14, 1984, at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church. The couple lived in rural Hanska for 10 years. They moved to New Ulm in 1994. He was a member of the New Ulm Country Club and Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. He coached several teams, including the New Ulm Junior Baseball Association, the New Ulm Hockey Association, the Pop Warner Football team in New Ulm, and the Hanska Baseball "peanuts" team. He served on the Junior Baseball Board in New Ulm.

JoAnn Anderson, 68, of Sleepy Eye died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in the Prairieville Cemetery in Evan.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday 7:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye and continues one hour before services at the church.
She is survived by son, Eugene and wife Karen Hoffmann of Crosby, Texas; daughter, Cheryl Laughton and special friend Rory Paulson of Darwin; mother, Shirley Anderson of Sleepy Eye; grandchildren, Ashley and Jeffrey Hoffmann, Crystal, Kayla, Dana and Danielle Laughton; brothers, Jim and wife Yvonne Anderson of Faribault, Randy and wife Bonnie Anderson of Stewartville; several nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Archie and aunt Phyllis Hansen.
She was born on Nov. 6, 1930, to Archie and Shirley (Johnson) Anderson. She graduated from Sleepy Eye High School and attended Mankato State College for two years. She taught school for four years. She married Eugene Hoffmann in 1955. They lived on a farm between Cobden and Evan. In 1961 she and her children moved to Faribault where she worked at Faribault State School and Hospital. They then moved to Rochester where she worked for Methodist Hospital as a patient representative.
In 1978 she moved to Houston, Texas, and worked as an admissions officer for St. Joseph's Hospital. She returned to Sleepy Eye in 1986. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye and had served for several years on the St. John Lutheran Home board in Springfield.
