Evelyn E. Saelens, 81, of Burnsville, formerly of Wanda and Revere, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at Apple Valley Health Care Center, Apple Valley.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mary, Mother of the Church Catholic Church, Burnsville, with burial 4 p.m. at St. Paul's Calvary Cemetery, Walnut Grove.
Visitation is 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Jacobsen Funeral Home, Walnut Grove, is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and William Baxter of Walnut Grove, Marjorie and Sam Bert of Richardson, Texas, Mary and Robert Kochenderfer of Bloomington, and Teresa and John Bloom of Ariz.; sons, Richard of Coon Rapids, Donald of Minneapolis and David and wife Candace of Burnsville; 29 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Lawrence Ludwig of Monticello; sisters, Frances Eichten of Monticello, Janet Sanchez of San Diego and Phyllis Prahl of Redwood Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in May 1999; a brother and a sister.
She was born Feb. 5, 1918, in Wanda, to Peter John and Ellen (Dooner) Ludwig. She attended school in Wanda through the 8th grade and attended Lamberton High School, after her parents moved to the Revere area. She married Frank Albert Saelens on Nov. 27, 1935 in Wanda. The couple farmed northwest of Revere for several years before moving to the Twin Cities area in 1969. She entered Apple Valley Health Care Center in June 1996. She was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church Catholic Church, Burnsville.

Joseph Eckstein III, 52, of Des Moines, Iowa, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999 at his home.
Services were held Oct. 23 at Hamilton's Funeral Home with burial in Resthaven Cemetery in Des Moines.
He is survived by his wife, Debra; daughter, Misty Eckstein; son, Joseph IV; grandson, Auston, all of Des Moines, Iowa; brothers, Gerald of New Ulm and Jon of Sleepy Eye; sister, Jeanie Wilson of Braham.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph II; brother James.
He was born in Aberdeen S.D., raised in Sleepy Eye, and lived in Des Moines, Iowa, most of his life. He was a heavy equipment operator with Hallett Material, Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of his local Operators of Engineers union.

Terry Lee Milleson, 49, of Redwood Falls, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, at his home.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Church of Christ, Redwood Falls.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and will continue 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; 24 nieces and nephews; 17 great-nieces and nephews; and brother, Steven of Des Moines, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law.
He was born Jan. 25, 1950, in Clarinda, Iowa, to Merrill and Helen (Bain) Milleson. He lived with his family in Clarinda, Iowa, and graduated from Clarinda High School. He married Brenda Barnes on March 30, 1974 in Redwood Falls. They lived in Clarinda until September 1975, when they moved to Redwood Falls. He was an assembler for Artesyn, previously Zytec, in Redwood Falls for 21 years. He served in the National Guard from 1969 until 1975.

Evelyn Brekke, 82, of Springfield, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1999, at New Ulm Medical Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Albion Lutheran Church, St. James, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie and husband Leonard Reddemann of Springfield; son, Eugene and wife Peggy of Blackduck; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one step great-great grandchild; sister, Olive and husband Willie Hoffman of Springfield; sisters-in-law, Betty Odegard of St. James and Gladys Odegard Reeves and husband Cliff of New Ulm; and several nieces and nephews.
She was born April 4, 1917, to Oliver and Olga (Christenson) Odegard in rural Comfrey. She attended grade school at District 26 in Albin Township. She married Hilmer C. Brekke on Jan. 3, 1935, in rural St. James. The couple farmed in the Godahl area until 1966 when they purchased the Spider Lake Resort in Grand Rapids. Upon their retirement, the couple moved to Sleepy Eye in 1976 and then to Springfield in 1989. She was a member of Albion Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and the church choir.

Elmer Nesteby, 96, of Lucan, died Monday, Oct. 26, 1999, at Wabasso Health Care Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Lucan, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the church, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and will continue one hour prior to services at the church Friday.
Kulow Funeral Service, Echo, is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by daughters, Martha VanLoy of Lucan, Helen Kerr of Coraville, Ariz., Gladys and husband Jim Jacobson of Marshall, Lucille and husband Bill Larson of Marshall, and Linda Ohman of Rim Rock, Ariz.; son, Robert and wife Rita of Phoenix, Ariz.; 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grand-children; and sister, Inga and husband James Baker of Waterloo, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anna on Oct. 16, 1994; brothers, Alfred, Ted, Albert and Carl; sisters, Mable, Ida, Alma, Emma and Mayme; sons-in-law, Gus VanLoy and Walter Kerr; and great-grandchildren, Chad VanLoy and Fallon Hansen.
He was born Oct. 20, 1903, in Boyd to Nels and Ingrid (Docken) Nesteby. He grew up in Iowa, where he attended St. Olaf School. He moved to Mable, Minn., where he worked in the onion fields. He worked his way across southern Minnesota to Sacred Heart, where he thrashed and hauled bundles. He married Anna Brey on Jan. 29, 1935 in Wabasso. He was employed at various jobs throughout is life. He had lived in New Ulm, Wanda, Vesta, Wabasso, Marshall and Lucan.

Homer H. 'Blink' Hoelz, 89, of Belle Plaine, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at Belle Plaine Lutheran Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Prairie Church in Belle Plaine, with burial in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Belle Plaine.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 8-10 a.m. Thursday at Fenske-Hayes Funeral Home in Belle Plaine.
He is survived by his wife, Irene of Belle Plaine; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Helen Hoelz of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and Dick Schmit of Belle Plaine, Judie and Bob Walerlus of Owatonna, Kay and Paul Schmidt of Rosemount, Jackie and Gust Barbes of Rochester; sister, Mabel Mayer of Glenwood; 26 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; four sisters.
He was born Dec. 21, 1909, in Lester Prairie to George and Wilhelmina "Minnie" (Schupp) Hoelz. He grew up in Plato and attended school in Lester Prairie. He went into the flour milling business with his father and brothers. He later moved to Belle Plaine and went into the feed mill business until retiring and selling the business. He married Irene Gehlen on Aug. 31, 1936, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Glencoe. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus.

Lilas Greundemann, 84 of Brainerd died Wednesday, October 27, 1999, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls with burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Morgan.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls and continues one hour before services Saturday at the church.
She is survived by her son, Jim and wife Eunice of Brainerd; grandchildren: Todd of Brainerd, Lynn Miller and husband Jim of Brainerd, Kay Aarrestd and husband Phil of Waconia; five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She was born July 30, 1915, in Eden Township, Brown County, to Reinhart and Ella (Menk) Ott. She attended country schools. She married William Gruendemann on Aug. 12, 1933, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They resided in Morgan and then Sherman Township where they farmed until retiring in 1975 and moving to Redwood Falls. He died July 11, 1990. In October 1997 she moved to Brainerd . She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and its Ladies Society of Morgan and Redwood Falls.

Myra Hoeft, 85, of Madelia died Wednesday, October 27, 1999, at Madelia Community Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church in Madelia with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday at Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia and also one hour prior to the time of service at the church.

Danny (Dan) Keith Kirsch, 48, of Olympia, Wash. died Thursday, October 21, 1999 at his home from cancer.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at McKenzie Road Baptist Church, 215 McKenzie Road S.W., Olympia, Wash. 98512.
He is survived by his wife, Verna (Powers) Kirsch, 6817 Foster Road S.W., Olympia, WA 98512; his parents, Joyce and Douglas Kirsch of New Ulm; his brother, Jeffrey Kirsch and his wife Jacqueline and their sons Joshua and Justin of Tacoma, Wash.; and his sister Kristine Scheid and her son David of Woodbury, and Kristine's daughter Nichole of Fargo, N.D.; by a mother-in-law and a brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law.
He was born in Springfield on July 4, 1951 to Joyce and Douglas Kirsch. He graduated from high school in Worthington in 1969, attended an auto body school in Jackson for two years then entered the U.S. Army. He later took courses at Worthington Junior College. He married Kate Roos from Worthington on Feb. 12, 1977, and they were married for several years. He married his current wife, Verna, in Olympia on Aug. 20, 1988. He lived in Sanborn, Bellingham, Redwood Falls, Bloomington, Worthington, Jackson and New Ulm in Minnesota at various times. He later lived about 18 years in Olympia, Wash., until his death. He was active in the Boy Scouts as a boy. He worked at Heles Plumbing at Worthington. He worked for Ernst, a home supply retail outlet; Knight Sprinklers, a fire sprinklers company; and the state of Washington in a warehouse for office supplies. He owned and operated a retail music store.

Lucille Bieraugel, 90, of Ashby, formerly of New Ulm, died Thursday, October 28, at Pelican Lake Nursing Home In Ashby.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church In New Ulm, with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church. The Catholic Aid Council will recite the rosary at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Firle Funeral Home of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
She is surived by a sister, Arlene Buck of Spring Lake Park; brothers, Marvin Brust and his wife Naomi of Wadena, Norman Brust and his wife Helen of New Ulm; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; four brothers and three sisters.
She was born June 28, 1909, in New Ulm, to Fred and Anna (Sellner) Brust. She married Alfred Bieraugel on July 8, 1929, in New Ulm. They lived many years in Hot Springs, Ark., where she did clerical work for St. Joseph's Hospital and also worked for the post office. She moved to the Pelican Lake Nursing Home in Ashby in December 1991. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm and the Catholic Aid Council.

Georgine Duerksen, 59, of Windom died Wednesday, October 27, 1999, at her home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom with burial in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Windom.
Visitation is 5-8:30p.m. today at Anderson-Schmidt Funeral Home in Windom, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
She is survived by her husband, Milton of Delft; children and their spouses, Dale and Vickie Duerksen of Plymouth, Brenda and Chuck Behrends of Lakefield, Karen and Dan Porisch of Dodge Center, and Chad Duerksen of New Ulm; seven grandchildren; sisters, Darlene Olson of Mankato, Julie and her husband Ron Easterday of Hamilton, Ohio and Aldona Wacker of Madelia.
She was born Feb. 21, 1940 in Watonwan County to Walter and Aldine (Nelson) Wacker. She graduated from St. James High School in 1958. On June 14, 1958, she married Ervin Duerksen in St. James. The family made their home in Delft. Ervin died of cancer on June 30, 1964. She married Milton (Tex) Duerksen on Dec. 26, 1965, at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom. She worked for five years at the Land-O-Lakes plant in Mt. Lake. She was an active member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior as a Sunday School teacher and in youth groups. She was also involved in Bible studies and the women's group. She was a member of the ARC and the Quilt Club.

Edna Heim Blank, 99, of San Bernadino, Calif., died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999.
Services were held Thursday in Pomona, Calif.
She is survived by a daughter, Delores and her husband Joseph Calhoun of Oceanside, Calif.; sons, Clifford and wife Patty of Big Fork, Mont., and Jerry Russel and Lana of San Jose, Calif., and a sister, Hazel A. Heim of Courtland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto, in 1980; three children in infancy; son, Waldon; and daughters, Phyllis and Arleen.
She was born March 15, 1900, on her parents' farm near Courtland to Augusta "Georgia" and Frederick William Heim. She attended District 41 school and graduated from Nicollet High School. In 1921 she married Otto Charles Blank of Nicollet at Bethany Evangelical Church in New Ulm. They lived on various farms in the Nicollet area, and near Judson, where they operated a gravel pit. In 1956 they moved to San Bernadino.
