Carlyn Owens, 79, of Fargo, N.D., died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999 at her home.
Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Church of the Holy Spirit, Fargo, with burial in Wheatland Cemetery, Wheatland, N.D.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Monday at the church, with a prayer service 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her children, David and wife Karen of Bloomington, Richard of Big Lake, Daniel of Fargo, Kathy Gustafson of Granite Falls, Dennis Owens of Washington, Doug and wife Sandra of Fargo, Mary and husband Ray Hutchinson of Anchorage, Alaska, and Sara and husband Steve Granger of Fargo; adopted family, Charlie, Bill, Robert and Julie Griebel, and Mary Grausam and Myrtle Brand; brothers, Joe and wife Evie Palmer of Connecticut, and Max and wife Jessie Palmer of Brainerd; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and five siblings.
She was born July 22, 1920 in West Newton Township, Nicollet County, to George and Theresa Palmer. Her mother died when she was a small child and she was taken in by her sister and brother-in-law Virginia and Oscar Griebel. She married Red Owens on May 8, 1941 in Searles. The couple lived in Minneapolis from 1941 until 1952, when they moved to Fargo. They retired in 1981 and moved to Wheatland, N.D. Fred died in January 1987. She has lived in the Fargo area since 1989. She was a member of Church of the Holy Spirit, Fargo and was a volunteer with Lutheran Social Services and the Senior Companion Program.

Vernon Hall, 86, of Fairmont, formerly of New Ulm, died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999 at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Firle Funeral Home of New Ulm is handling arrangements.
Survivors include his son, LeRoy Hall and his wife Darlene of Fairmont; daughter, Diane Keute and her husband Lester of Palmdale, Calif.; grandchildren, Ryan Hall of Minneapolis, Kimberly Hall of St. Paul, Jamie Keute of Palmdale, and Tonya Gotcher and her husband Casey of Meridian, Idaho; two great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Clara in 1998; a daughter-in-law Elaine Hall; two brothers and one sister.
He was born Nov. 13, 1913, in Colgate, Okla., to William and Viola Hall. His parents died when he was four years old. At 13, he moved with his foster family to Kansas, where he attended school. He married Clara Fenske on Dec. 3, 1939 in New Ulm. Together, they farmed in Blue Earth County for several years, moving to New Ulm in 1957. He then worked for the former Union Hospital for ten years and later worked for New Ulm High School as a custodian for 12 years. His wife died in August of 1998. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

Wilsie Froland, 89 of rural Echo, died Friday, Nov. 19,1999 at the Parkview Home in Belview.
Services will be 10: 30 A.M. Monday at the Assembly of God Church in Granite Falls with burial in the Hillside Cemetery, rural Echo.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. today at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo and continue Monday one hour prior to services at the church in Granite Falls.
Wilsie Lenora Froland was born Wednesday, July 6,1910 in Sioux Agency Township, Yellow Medicine County, to Christ and Bertha (Anderson) Iverson. She was baptized Aug. 7,1910 in the Rock Dell Lutheran Church and confirmed on Oct. 11, 1925 in the Rock Valle Lutheran Church. Wilsie attended Country School District # 93. On Oct. 9, 1929 she married Ole A. Froland in the Parsonage in Belview. Ole died on Sept. 30, 1999 just nine days before their 70th wedding anniversary. They lived near Echo after their marriage until moving to Granite Falls in in 1938 where they lived until moving to St. Paul in 1942 and then moved to the Froland Century Farm North of Echo in 1943. They continued to live on the farm until entering assisted living in Clara City in 1996 before entering the Parkview Home in Belview in 1997. She was a member of the Assembly Of God Church in Granite Falls, active in the Women's Group, attended adult Sunday School and Bible Study.
She is survived by two sons: Gene Froland and his wife Marlene of Hastings, and Donald Froland and his wife Dorothy of Dayton, a daughter Wanda Luepke and her husband Alvin of Echo; 10 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Schroeder of Danube, Irene Hartzell of Montevideo, and Gladys Holm of Fridley, and three sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband Ole, her parents Christ and Bertha, brothers, Elmer, Arlie, and Erwin, and sisters, Cora, Tina, and Gertina.

Eleanor Furth, 102, of 420 S. Minnesota St., in New Ulm died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, at New Ulm Medical Center,
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Robert Eller, 59, of Lower Sioux Community near Morton, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at Redwood Falls Hospital.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Cornelia's Episcopal Church, Lower Sioux Community, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at the Community Center next to the church.
Sunset Funeral Home handled arrangements.
He is survived by his children, Robert Douglas Eller of Minneapolis, Donald Robert Eller of St. Francis, Steven Eller of Minneapolis, Penny Hean Macziewski and husband Jason of Minneapolis and Tammy Joy Eller of Coon Rapids; four grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Juanita Horn and husband Richard of Redwood Falls, Leonard Eller and wife Catie of Flandreau, S.D., Mary Jean Prinzing and husband Rueben of Cannon Falls, Iola Johnson and husband Gerald of Redwood Falls and Bill Eller of Morton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Robert.
He was born March 20, 1940, in Pipestone to Max W. and Cornelia E. (St. Clair) Eller. He then moved to Morton. He attended school at the Lower Sioux Community and Morton Public School. He moved to Minneapolis where he graduated from South High School in 1958. He married Jean Usherwood in Emily on June 10, 1972, and they lived in Coon Rapids. He worked as a machinist for 39 years at Kurt Manufacturing and at Chuck's Grinding. He retired to health problems in 1997. In 1998, he returned to Lower Sioux Community.

Janie Johnson, age 73, of Franklin, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, at Fairfax Community Home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Franklin with burial in Swedlanda Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Franklin and continues one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Arrangements are handled by Hughes Funeral Home.
She is survived by her husband John "Eddie Johnson, of Franklin; children, Corey Johnson and wife Marilyn, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Kristin Vick and husband Doug of Raymond, Kathy Steffen and husband Bob, of Willmar, Lisa Osthus and husband Todd, of Clara City; five grandchildren; one step-grandson; brother, Bob Peters and wife Barbara, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and many nieces, nephews,.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter Helen Marie.She was born March 22, 1926, at Detroit, Mich., to Percival and Helen (O'Hara) Peters. She attended Thircle Elementary and graduated from Grosse Pointe High School in Detroit. She also attended secretarial training classes. She served in the Civil Air Patrol during World War II and was a U.S.O. hostess. She married John "Eddie" Johnson on July 16, 1947, at Christ's Church in Detroit. She lived in Arizona and worked as a secretary for several companies. After returning to Minnesota, she and her husband farmed in Bandon Township and Birch Cooley Township. They also operated the dry cleaning service in Franklin. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Franklin, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary and was a former PTA president.

Anna Belle Olson, 65, of Mountain Lake, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, in Windom.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at West Sveadahl Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James and one hour prior before services at the church.
She is survived by daughters, Pam and husband Don Smith of Madelia, Julie and husband Dennis Rick of Worthington; son, Brad Olson and fiance Brenda Francis of Butterfield; grandchildren, Derek and Tyler Rick, and Anna Marie Smith; brothers, Dick and wife Norma Strenge of Cambria, Calvin Strenge of Windom, Lawrence and wife Grace Strenge of Odin, John and wife Loris of St. James; sisters, Josephine Penner of Windom, Evangeline Harper of Mountain Lake, and Florence and husband Donald Snook of Ironton; and many nieces and nephews,
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, George and Eilert; sisters, Gretchen, Dena and Margareti; sister-in-law, Myrtle; and brothers-in-law, Gustav and Diedrich.
She was born May 19, 1934, in Amboy Township, Cottonwood County, to Eilert and Gerdena (Seifkes) Strenge. She attended rural school. She worked at Butterfield Produce. She married T. Leland Olson on Nov. 9, 1957, at West Sveadahl Lutheran Church. They farmed near West Sveadahl. She was a homemaker and a daycare provider. She was a member of the West Sveadahl Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid.

Gladys Koppi, 89, 1026 N. State St., New Ulm, died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at her home.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Saturday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery,
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday and 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home. Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Friday at the Cathedral. There will be a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Eleanor Henle Furth, 102, of 420 S. Minnesota St., New Ulm, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, at New Ulm Medical Center. She had recently been a resident at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and continues 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She is survived by daughters, Marie Furth Miller and her husband Robert of Ft. Dodge, Iowa, Kristin Neufeld of Castleton, Vt.; sons, Herb Furth and his wife Mary of Green Valley, Ariz., and Tom Furth and his wife Diane of San Diego, Calif.; 30 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Furth; sons, James and John Furth; grandson, Tony Miller; son-in-law, John Neufeld, and by several brothers and sisters.
She was born on Sept. 7, 1897 in New Ulm to Athanas and Ida (Baer) Henle and was the granddaughter of the first settlers of New Ulm, Athanasius and Elizabeth Fink Henle. She attended Holy Trinity Grade School and Good Counsel Academy in Mankato. She worked as a stenographer and bookkeeper at the Eagle Roller Mill Company in New Ulm. On Aug. 8, 1921, she married Theodore Furth at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. In her later years she assisted her husband in the insurance business. She was a charter member of St. Mary's Parish. She was a member of Catholic Aid Society, St. Monica Society, American Legion Auxiliary, Sioux Valley Hospital Auxiliary, Red Cross volunteers, the Catholic Daughters of America, Junior Pioneers and Brown County Historical Society.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, any memorials made in her memory will be distributed to her chosen charities.

Lloyd Neuenschwander 73, of Kokomo, Ind. and formerly of Hanska and the Martin County area, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999, at Howard Community Hospital in Kokomo.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Nora Unitarian Universalist Church in Hanska with burial in the Mt. Pisquah Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Madelia veterans organizations at the cemetery.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church.

He is survived by special friend Marcia Lawrence of Kokomo, Ind.; son, Brett Neuenschwander and his wife Carol of Northfield; daughters, Cheryl Grundman and her husband Rich of Eagan, Paula Tatro and her husband Doug of Madelia, Cindy Van Orman and her husband Owen of Palmer, Alaska; 12 grandchildren; brother, Merle Neuenschwander of New Jersey; sisters, Marlys Bertilson and her husband Alvin of Madelia, Ardella Hall of Madelia; and his former wife Hazel Neuenschwander of Anchorage, Alaska; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born March 19, 1926, in Fraser Township, Martin County, to Albeit and Mabel (Galles) Neuenschwander. He attended country schools . He married Hazel Hilken in 1953. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 and was stationed in Korea. After military services, he farmed in the Madelia area. He later worked as a truck driver. He retired in 1991. He moved to Kokomo, Indiana in 1993. He was a member of the Nora Unitarian Universalist Church in Hanska, American Legion, VFW, and the American Quarter Horse Association.

Selma Anacker, 93, of Mountain Lake, formerly of Darfur, died Nov. 22, 1999, at Good Samaritan Village, Mountain Lake.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Darfur with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday and 7:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home Chapel, Comfrey; and continues one hour before the service on Saturday at the church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marian and James Fredin of Comfrey, three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister Emma Schmid of Shittier, Calif.; and sister-in-law, Catherine Wallin of Owatonna.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William in 1977; twin grandsons, Matthew and David Fredin; brother, Wilbert Wallin; and sisters, Delia Adams, Mabel Post and Eloise Hill.
She was born on Jan. 12, 1906, in Adrian Township, Watonwan County, to Oscar and Carrie (Larson) Wallin. She attended rural school near Darfur. She married William G. Anacker on Nov. 16, 1927, in St. James. They lived in Darfur operating Darfur Implement until retiring in the early 1960s. She entered Eventide Home in May of 1997. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was active in the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Darfur "Garden Gate" garden club and Darfur Senior Citizens.

Leona Hellendrung, 95, of St. Therese Home, New Hope, formerly of Minneapolis, died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999 at home.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday in the lower chapel at Church of St. Thomas the Apostle, 44th and Vincent Ave. S., Minneapolis. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Andrew's Cemetery, Fairfax.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Gill Brothers Funeral Chapel, 5801 Lyndale Ave. S., Minneapolis, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorials are preferred to the St. Therese Foundation or the Good Shepherd Sisters.
She is survived by 14 nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ida Hellendrung, Melvina Webster, Mary Carlson and Elizabeth Murnan; and brothers, John and Charles Hellendrung.
She was born Dec. 8, 1903, in Fairfax, to Charles and Elizabeth (Velt) Hellendrung. She taught school in Little Falls and at the Minnesota School of Business. She was also an executive secretary for Grain Belt Brewery.
