Evelyn Rolloff, 94, formerly of Montevideo, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, at Lyngblomsten Care Center in St. Paul.
Services are 11 a.m. today at First Congregational Church in Montevideo with burial in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery of Montevideo.
Arrangements with the Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Montevideo.
She is survived by her children, John A. and wife Ann Louise Rolloff of Fayetteville Ark., Catherine and husband John B. Emkovik of Inver Grove Heights, and Martha and husband Jonathan Morgan II of St. Paul; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ellen Mildred Bergman; husband, the Honorable Clarence A. Rolloff; and a daughter, Margaret Mae Rolloff.
She was born March 1, 1905, in Burnett County, Wis., to Andrew and Carolina (Olson) Bergman. She graduated from Markville High School and attended Hamline University and the University of Minnesota. She was an Extension Agent until her marriage to Judge Clarence A. Rolloff, formerly of New Ulm, on April 20, 1930. She volunteered for many organizations, including the Tuesday Study Club, P.E.O., First Congregational Church, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and 4-H Clubs.

Ervin Leske, 90, of Buffalo Lake, died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at Cosmos Healthcare Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion United Methodist Church in Buffalo Lake, with burial in Zion Evangelical Cemetery, Buffalo Lake.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday, at Zion United Methodist Church in Buffalo Lake and continues one hour before the service Saturday at the church.
Hughes Funeral Home handled arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, LaVonne Leske, of Buffalo Lake; children: Mario Leske and his wife Genevie of Buffalo Lake, Marlys Bags and her husband Lee of Hope, Darrel Leske and his wife Ann of Buffalo Lake, 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers and sisters, Apes Mueller of Buffalo Lake, Harold Leske and his wife Violet of Buffalo Lake, Milton Leske of Buffalo Lake, and Doris Carrigan and her husband Harvey of Buffalo Lake; sister-in-law, Goldie Leske of Buffalo Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Reinhart Leske, and sisters, Sylvia Stueber, and Laura Burgstahler.
He was born Oct. 8, 1909, in Grafton Township, Sibley County, to Emil and Ida (Ebent) Leske. He grew up in Grafton Township and attended rural school.
He married LaVonne Bryan on Oct. 1, 1932, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple farmed in Renville and Sibley counties. In 1947, they purchased the family farm and farmed there until retirement. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Buffalo Lake, where he was active as an usher.

Diane Nelson, 60, of St. James, died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, in Mankato.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James, with burial in Hanska Lake Cemetery, Hanska.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband Noren; mother Alva Rinker of New Hope; sisters, Joy Magnan of Brooklyn Center and Faith Weber of Avalon, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was born April 1, 1939, in Minneapolis, to Raymond and Elva (Swan) Rinker. She attended school in Minneapolis. She married Noren Nelson on May 28, 1960, in Minneapolis. She was a daycare provider for several years, before they moved to Richland in 1975. In 1982 they moved to St. James.

Gladys Koppi, 89, of 1026 North State Street in New Ulm went home to the Lord on Nov. 22, 1999, three weeks before her 90th birthday. She died peacefully at her home surrounded by family members after a brief struggle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday and from 7:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Friday at the Cathedral. There will be a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Gladys is survived by daughters, Donna Koppi Boben and her husband John of White Bear Lake, Kathryn Koppi Allen and her husband Dick of Greeley, Colo.; sons, Francis Koppi of Big Lake, Charles and his wife Mary Koppi of Freeport Ill., Joseph and his wife Charleen Koppi of West St. Paul. She had 14 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter. She is also survived by two sisters, Agnes Wicks of Minneapolis, and Myrtle Marcus of Merritt Island, Fla. Gladys was preceded in death by her Swedish immigrant parents, Olaf and Carrie (Thell) Skoog; her husband, Frank in 1956; and five brothers; and four sisters.
Gladys was born Dec. 14, 1909 in Akeley,Minn. She was the first in her family to graduate from high school in 1928. She completed one year of business college in Minneapolis and worked for the Minneapolis Grain Exchange at the time of the 1929 Stock Market crash. She was married to Frank Koppi on Oct. 24, 1931 at the Ascension Catholic Church in North Minneapolis. The family moved to New Ulm in 1936.
Gladys was widowed when she was 46, and raised her five children in New Ulm.
She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. She was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Christian Mother's Society. She served in local and State offices for the C.D.A. She was a member of the local American Legion Auxiliary for more than 50 years, and was very active in organizing and maintaining programs at the New Ulm Senior Citizen's Center. Gladys worked for Herberger's Department Store in New Ulm for 25 years as manager of the yard goods and drapery departments. She was recognized and appreciated for her sewing expertise and many donations of her craft work to local church and community activities.
Although people didn't always remember her name, she was recognized by many people throughout southern Minnesota as "the lady with the beautiful white hair."

Eleanor J. Isaksen, 88 of Springfield died Tuesday, Nov. 23 at St.John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today and from 7:30 -10 a.m. Friday at the Sturm funeral Home in Springfield. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home, and a St. Anne's CCW Rosary at 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
She is survived by her sons: Floyd and wife Judy Isaksen of Springfield, Dean and wife Judi Isaksen of Springfield; daughters: Marlys and husband Robert Vanderwerf of Springfield, Maureen and husband Kenneth Kersten of Springfield and Sheryl Lynn and husband Jim Thieman of Colome, S.D.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry "Sam" in 1995, brothers Leonard and Norbert Platz, and sister Florence Meinert.
She was born Feb. 18, 1911 in Burnstown Township, Brown County to Henry and Bertha (Turbes) Platz. She married Harry Isaksen on Sept. 29, 1936 in Windom. The couple made their home and fermed in North Star Township for many years. She moved into St. John's Lutheran Home in 1993. She was a life long member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield.

Henry H. Pankratz, 86, of Mountain lake, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999 at Good Samaritan Center, Jackson.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Mennonite Brethren Church, Mountain Lake, with burial in Mountain Lake Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Friday, and one hour prior to services, both at the church. Bjerum Funeral Home, is handling arrangements.
He is survived by his wife Martha of Mountain Lake; sons, LaVerne and wife Bryce of Hopkins and Dale and wife Carol of Mountain Lake; daughter Roslyn and husband Don Jenkins of Fridley; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother Ralph of California; sister-in-law Aletha Stoneberg of Mountain Lake; brother-in-law Lester Foss and wife Eloise of Austin; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Olga, Bertha, Lydia, Allegra Pankratz and Maire Foss; brothers, William and Willard; and sister-in-law Ruth Pankratz.
He was born Dec. 4, 1912 in Mountain Lake to Henry B. and Mary (Kroeker) Pankratz. He attended and graduated high school in Mountain Lake. Following school he worked for several farmers in the Mountain Lake area. He married Martha Adrian March 9, 1945 in Mountain Lake. After their marriage they farmed in southwestern Cottonwood County. In 1959 they moved to the Isaac Adrian homestead, where they remained until he retired in 1995. In 1997 he moved to the Good Samaritan Center. He was a member of Bethel Mennonite Brethren Church, Mountain Lake.

Sharon A. Martinka, 34, of Sauk Rapids and formerly of Franklin died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-10 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
She is survived by her mother, Martha Helget of Franklin; daughter Reva Martinka; son Jordan Martinka; sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda and Peter Eppard of Mancos, Colo.; nieces, and a nephew
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter in 1992.
She was born Oct. 29, 1965 in Manitoba, Canada. She became the daughter of Walter and Martha (Sperl) Helget Aug. 10, 1967. She attended the Franklin High School in Franklin. She had worked as a Nurses Aid at the Franklin Health Care Center in Franklin. She was employed in the Bakery Department at Cub Foods in St. Cloud.

Marvin Witt, 85, of Gaylord, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999 at New Ulm Medical Center.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at American Lutheran Church, Gaylord, with burial in the Gaylord Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7-7:30 a.m. Saturday at Egesdal Funeral Home, Gaylord, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law Darlene and Donald Becke of Gaylord; son and daughter-in-law DuWayne and Kay Witt of New Ulm; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1990; sister Meta Stresemann; and brothers, Melvin, Reuben and William.
He was born Aug. 17, 1914 in Bismark Township, Sibley County, to Edward and Amanda (Barfnecht) Witt. He attended country school in Bismark Township and Winthrop Public School. He married Thusnelda Opitz on April 10, 1940 in Penn Township, McLeod County. After marriage they farmed in Bismark and Penn Townships. In 1947 they moved to a farm in Sibley Township, south of Gaylord, and farmed there until 1986. He continued to live on the farm site until 1992 when he moved into Gaylord. He was a charter member of American Lutheran Church, Gaylord, and served as an usher and on the church council. He served on the Winthrop and Gaylord Baseball Association Boards.

William "Billy" Ulrich, of Thief River Falls, died Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at a Fargo, N.D. hospital.
Services will be Sunday in Thief River Falls.
He is survived by his wife, and three children Dane, Jeff, and Lisa.
He was the son of Ernest and Ida (Fehlmann) Ulrich of Red Lake Falls. He married Rosemary Mettler Nov. 20, 1959. He worked in the New Ulm area as a young man.

Harold Reynolds, 77, of Eagle Lake, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999 at Hillcrest Health Care Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Landkamer Johnson-Boman Funeral Home, Mankato, with burial in Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation is 9:30 a.m. until time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his son Douglas and wife Jeannie of Belle Plaine; step-son Larry and wife Arla Buche of Battle Lake; five grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers; a step-son; and one great-grandson.
He was born Aug. 15, 1922 near Vernon Center to Ivan and Esther (Caudle) Reynolds. he served in the Army from Nov. 25,1942 until Nov. 28, 1946. He married Helen Soderland Buche on April 7, 1948 in Pleasantville, Iowa. They lived in Des Moines for 20 years then near Carver for five years. He worked as a long distance trucker for most of his life. He moved to Eagle Lake in 1975. He worked as a custodian for Mankato State University, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Minneapolis; the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Shakopee; American Legion, Eagle Lake; and Eagles Club, Mankato.

Margaret S. Haggenmiller, 91, of Arlington, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999 at Arlington Good Samaritan Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Arlington, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday and 8-10 a.m. Monday at Fenske Funeral Home, Arlington.

Francis Beranek, 77, of 1015 Second North in New Ulm died Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at the Abbott - Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the St. George Catholic Cemetery in St. George.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a combined rosary by the St. George Catholic Aid Society of St. George and the St. Joseph Catholic Aid Council of New Ulm at 6:30 p.m. followed by a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. both Thursday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife Cecilia "Cele" Beranek of New Ulm, sons and daughters-in-law David and Aleda Beranek, Daniel and Trudy Beranek, all of New Ulm, Roger and Patty Beranek of St. George; 11 grandchildren; sisters Odelia Forst, Hilaria Schwab both of New Ulm; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Appolonia Beranek of New Ulm, Agnes and Alex Guggisberg of Gibbon, Maggie and Delmar Muehlbauer of New Ulm, Gertrude and LeRoy Rathmann of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Donald Ber anek in1964; brothers Albert, Joseph, Robert, and Benedict Beranek; sisters Agnes Forst and Edna Beranek.
He was born on March 29, 1922 in West Newton Township, Nicollet County to Joseph and Katherine (Wendinger) Beranek. He attended St. George Catholic School. He married Cecilia "Cele" Hanslick Oct. 15, 1946 at the St. George Catholic Church in St. George. After marriage they farmed in West Newton Township near St. George for almost thirty years. In 1974 they moved into New Ulm where he owned and operated Danny's Bar with his son until 1989. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, the St. Joseph Catholic Aid Council in New Ulm and the St. George Catholic Aid Society in St. George, he served as an officer of the West Newton Township Board and for 14 years served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Catholic Aid Society. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorial be given to the New Ulm Area Catholic Schools (NUACS).
