Gustav Bauermeister, 90, 1001 N. Garden St., New Ulm, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, at New Ulm Medical Center.
Private graveside services will be held at the City Cemetery.
Firle Funeral Home, New Ulm, is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Denneth Dvergsten of Grand Rapids; and sister, Olivia Monjeau of Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille in 1998; three brothers; and four sisters.
He was born Feb. 18, 1909, in Nicollet County, to Gustav and Alvina (Rubie) Bauermeister. He attended St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran grade school and the former Martin Luther Academy in New Ulm. He married Lucille Gulden in New Ulm. He worked for the former Cudahy Packing Company for several years. The family moved to the Twin Cities where he worked as a bus driver for the Metropolitan Transit Authority for 21 years. They retired to northern Minnesota in 1971, returning to New Ulm in 1979. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Ulm.

Fern Hughes, 69, of New Ulm and formerly of Butternut Township, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis after an unexpected illness.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Butternut with burial in the Butternut Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Lake Crystal Mortuary and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.
She is survived by her son, Tom Hughes and wife Janette of rural Lake Crystal; daughter Kathleen Olson and husband Joel of Plymouth; grandchildren, Kate and Colin Olson; Justin, Amber and Grant Hughes; brother Roger Stoll of New Ulm, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son Ronald in 1968.
She was born Feb. 1, 1930, in New Ulm to Richard and Irene (Epke) Stoll. She graduated from New Ulm High School. She married Eldon Hughes on July 20, 1949, in New Ulm. The couple farmed in Butternut Township. Eldon died in 1986. Fern continued to live on the farm until her move to New Ulm in 1991. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Butternut where she had been active with the WELCA. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

Howard M. Mattson, 85, formerly of rural Nicollet, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at St. Peter Community Health Care Center in St. Peter.
There will be a private family service at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, with burial in the Swan Lake Lutheran Church Cemetery in Brighton Township, Nicollet County.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters -in-law, Alton and Mae Mattson of rural Nicollet and Harding and Doris Mattson of St. Peter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Adelle Robbins; and a brother, Vernon Mattson.
He was born on Dec. 24, 1913, in New Sweden Township, Nicollet County to Martin and Oline (Hauer) Mattson. He served in the United States Army from 1942 through 1945 and was stationed in Kodiak, Alaska. After the service he returned home and farmed on the family farm in New Sweden Township, Nicollet County for over 40 years. He was a member of the Swan Lake Lutheran Church in Brighton Township, Nicollet County.

Audre McGranahan, 69, of Sacramento, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at Washoe Medical Center in Reno, Nev.
Services are 2 p.m. today at East Lawn Mortuary and Sierra Hills Memorial Park.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; a daughter, Chris Graser; sons, David, John, Jimmy and Peter Mansoor; a stepdaughter, Kathy Blue; stepsons, Ken and Craig Herrett; 10 grandchildren; and a sister, Harriet Parish of Fair Oaks, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her brother Tom Woebke of Washington, D.C., and a brother, John Woebke of Minneapolis.
She was born March 2, 1930, in New Ulm, to John and Thecla Woebke, who owned and operated the New Ulm Review.
She was a 33-year Sacramento resident. She taught in the San Juan Unified School District for 26 years before retiring in 1992. She was a member of the National Education Association, California Teachers Association, San Juan Teachers Association, and American Association of University Women.

Ruth Beecher, 89, of Edina, formerly of New Ulm, died Nov. 29, 1999.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at United Church of Christ in New Ulm. The family requests memorials to the United Church of Christ. The Cremation Society of Minnesota, Edina Chapel, handled the arrangements.
She is survived by her sons, Lee H. Beecher, M.D. and wife Mary Jane Heinen of Maple Grove; John T. Beecher, M.D. and wife Lori of Edina; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She was born Aug. 28, 1910, in Madison to Hans Lokken and Eleanor Hewitt Borgendale. She graduated from Carleton College in Northfield in 1933. She taught in the Canby Consolidated High School until 1936. She married James Morrison Beecher on June 10, 1936. They lived in Minneapolis until 1947 when they moved to New Ulm. After her husband's death in 1990, she lived in New Ulm until 1996 when she moved to Edina to be closer to her sons.

Bonnie McFarland, 74, of Redwood Falls, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at Wood Dale Nursing Home, Redwood Falls.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Redwood Falls, with private burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church Saturday.
Nelson Funeral Services, Redwood Falls, is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her children, Donna Carlson of St. Louis Park, Beverly Timmer and Linda Cohrs of Redwood Falls, Dale Gilles and wife Patti of Chaska and Thresa Witt and husband Randy of Hospers, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Jake McFarland of Lake Wilson; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; son, Michael; and daughter Kathy.
She was born April 15, 1925 in Munch Township, Pine County, to Frederick and Cora (Ice) Mowry. She resided with her family near Hinckley. She graduated from Tracy High School in 1943. She married Glen McFarland on June 15, 1943 in Amiret. They lived on a farm south of Walnut Grove until the fall of 1981 when they moved east of Redwood Falls to Crow Creek Addition. She worked at Dimp's Grocery Store for about 10 years in Walnut Grove. Glen died Sept. 22, 1985. She worked for Redwood County Social Service for 10 years, until retiring in 1991. She moved to Wood Dale Nursing Home in 1992. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a United Methodist Youth Federation leader, belonged to a circle at Walnut Grove Methodist Church, was a foster parent and a 4-H leader in Murray County.

Adella Lambrecht, 76, of 1413 N. Broadway in New Ulm, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at Lafayette Good Samaritan Center.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 - 10:00 a.m. Friday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Cathedral. There will be a rosary by St. Anne's Court at 6:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, Norman Lambrecht of New Ulm; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Francis Rieger of New Ulm; son, Rodney Lambrecht and his fiancee, Roberta Grossmann both of New Ulm; grandchildren, Marc Rieger and Brittany Rieger both of New Ulm; sisters and brother-in-law, Arline Krambeer of New Ulm, Mildred and Clarence Blumhoefer of Fairfax; brother and sister-in-law, Edwin and Eleanor Mertz of rural New Ulm.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was born on March 14, 1923, in Sigel Township, Brown County, to Jacob and Catherine (Flor) Mertz. She married Norman Lambrecht on June 17, 1947, at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. She worked at the Woolworth Store in New Ulm and later as a sales clerk at various downtown stores. She was a member of Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, St. Anne's Court No. 389, N.C.S.F. and Christian Mothers Society.

Harry Bluestone, 71, of Lower Sioux Indian Community died Tuesday, Nov., 30, 1999, at his home of a heart attack.
Services are11 a.m. Thursday at St. Cornelia's Episcopal Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8:30 p.m. today with a prayer service at 8:30 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and continues from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the Community Hall.
He is survived by sisters, Betty Lee of Morton, Leona Bluestone of the Franklin Healthcare Center, Maude Williams and husband Bill of Morton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marjorie Goodthunder; and brother, Donald Bluestone.
He was born on July 22, 1928, in Paxton Township, Redwood County, to Samuel and Marie (Morin) Bluestone. He was a lifelong resident of the Lower Sioux Community

Mathilda A. Eiler, 97, of Bird Island, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home, Willmar.
Services are 1:15 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bird Island, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home, Bird Island, with a prayer service at 6 p.m and continues noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Vivian and Dick and Norma of Bird Island; daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Frank Lindell of Cold Spring, Dorothy and Roger Lippert of Willmar and Florence and Merton Gustad of New Ulm; 27 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband John in 1972; daughter-in-law, Lucille; three sisters; and three brothers.
She was born March 9, 1902, in Kalisck, Germany, to Aloysius and Martha (Kreft) Piepiorka. She immigrated to the United States in 1922. She worked at several different jobs in Fond du Lac and Ellsworth, Wis., and St. Paul, before moving to Bird Island in 1931. She married John H. Eiler on Oct. 25, 1932 in Bird Island. They farmed until 1964 when they retired to Bird Island. She was a member of St. Mary's Altar Society, Senior Citizens Club and the Bird Island Senior Citizens Singers. She moved to Olivia Healthcare Center on May 31, 1996 and to Pleasant View Nursing Home in September.

Floyd Raitz, 84, of rural Fairfax, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Swedlanda Lutheran Church in Palmyra Township with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday at t Hughes Funeral Home in Hector and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Elaine M. Berhow, 75, of Springfield, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at Springfield Medical Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Olson Funeral Home in Truman, with burial in Fairview Memorial Park, Fairmont.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Olson Funeral Home. Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield handled arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Berhow of Springfield; daughters, Janet and husband Dale Johnson of Springfield; Sharin and husband Robert Salstrom of Evansville, Ind., Gwendolyn and husband Bernard Armstrong of Windom; son, Danny and wife Jackie Berhow of Moundsview; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald and wife Dagne Bunkofske of Venice, Fla.; Daryl and wife Lois Bunkofske of Swea City, Iowa, Alvin and wife Dottie Bunkofske of Aurora, Ill., Darwin and wife Vanetta Bunkofske of Armstrong, Iowa; sisters, Vivian and husband Oliver Aasby of Estherville, Iowa, Floy and husband Glen Hendricksen of LeRoy, Dorothea and husband Donald Guge of Estherville, and Ethel and husband Kenneth Dalen of Estherville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Cecil.
She was born Oct. 21, 1924, in Burt, Iowa, to William and Myrtle (Harsh) Bunkofske. She was raised and attended school in Swea City, Iowa, where she married Donald Berhow on Aug. 17, 1941. They lived in southern Minnesota. She worked d at the Gambles Department Store in Fairmont for 13 years, until 1968, when they opened the E&L Cafe in Truman. She retired in 1983. They moved to Springfield in 1997.

He is survived by a son, Karl Bennet and wife Carol Raitz of Lexington, Ky.; daughter, Eileen Diana Raitz of Buffalo Lake; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Lionel and Myrul Raitz of Texas; sister, Alice Mae Sateren of Fergus Falls, and sisters-in-law, Florence Rosenquist of Texas and Mary Lou Raitz of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his parents; a brother, Harold; and brothers-in-law, Wilton Rosenquist and Albin Thronson.
He was born April 10, 1915, in Hector Township, Renville County, to Levi and Alice (Schwartz) Raitz. He grew up in the Hector area, attending various country schools. He later drove a school bus for Bird Island-Lake Lillian, and was a truck driver for Don Rueber. He also worked in a bowling alley. He married Margaret Kulberg on June 14, 1946, and they farmed south of Swedlanda Church until his health caused him to retire in 1980 following cancer surgery. In September 1998 he moved to the Bird Island Manor Healthcare Center. He was a member of Swedlanda Lutheran Church
