Lena M. Schwieger, 102, of Fairmont, died Thursday, December 2, 1999 at the Lutz Wing of the Fairmont Community Hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park in Fairmont.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by sons, Milton Schwieger and his wife, Erline of Fairmont, Lynn Schwieger and his wife, Devorah of Fairmont, Delbert Schwieger and his wife, Ruth of Jackson, Gerald "Gary" Schwieger and his wife, Marian of Springfield, James Schwieger and his wife, Doris of Truman; daughters, Luverna Hartmann and her husband, Wilbert of Fairmont, Dorothy Anderst and her husband, Roland of Fairmont, Eunice Day and her husband, Orland of Fresno, Calif., Lois Swenson and her husband, Donald of Fairmont, Mazy Armbrust of Fairmont, Marlene Griffith and her husband, Daniel of Excelsior; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lucinda Roth of Princeton, Hermine Schwieger of Mankato, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Schwieger in 1988; son and daughter, Ruth and Roy Schwieger; son-in-law, Donald Armbrust; grandchildren, Bradley and Rhonda Schwieger; brother, William Roth.
She was born Sept. 7, 1897 near White, S.D., the daughter of August and Dora (Schmidt) Roth. She attended Oakwood Township Country School near White. Her mother died in 1910, and Lena and her brother moved to Fairmont to live with their aunt and uncle, Mary and Ernest Kanning. On July 12, 1916 she married Theodore Schwieger at Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Rutland Township. They farmed in Fraser Township for many years. They retired from farming and moved into Fairmont in 1957. Lena entered the Lutz Wing of the Fairmont Community Hospital in 1999. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont.

Harris H. Robeck, 69, of Arlington died Thursday December 2, 1999 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
A mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Brendan Catholic Church in Green Isle.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Sunday at the Fenske Funeral Home in Arlington and one hour prior to the service at the church. A prayer service will be held 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Robeck is survived by his wife, Diana of Arlington; daughter, Cynthia Robeck of Louisville, Kent.; sons, Steven and wife Connie Robeck of St. Paul Park, Daniel Robeck of South St. Paul, and John and wife Colleen Robeck of Gaylord; four grandchildren; brothers, Mark Robeck of South St. Paul, Joe and wife Terri Robeck of Arlington; sisters, Bernice and husband Elmer Wentzlaff of Gaylord, Mary and husband Len Slusher of Dexter, Ore., E. Ann and husband Pat Bigaouette of Henderson, and Sylvia and husband Bob Bigaouette of Henderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Bernette Brelje and brother, Matthew Robeck, Jr.
Robeck was born Sept. 19, 1930 in Jessenland Township in Sibley County to Matthew, Sr. and Ethel (Trimbo) Robeck. He served in the Korean Conflict 1951-1953. He worked in the meat packing business most of his working years. He married Marlys Wolford in 1955 in Arlington. He later married Diana Hardel Feb. 14, 1975 in Milbank, S.D. He was a life member of VFW Post No. 6031 in Arlington.

Margaret "Marge" Weber, 74, of Springfield died Friday, December 3, 1999, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Springfield with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield and 10 a.m. to the time of the service at the church.
She is survived by her children, Keith and wife Jo Ann Weber of Stillwater, Karen and husband Hugh Cameron of Grand Rapids, Kurt and wife Ruth Weber of Stillwater and Kevin Weber of Alexandria; nine grandchildren; a brother, Phillip "Bud" and wife Donna von Fischer of Sioux Falls, Iowa; sisters, Marlene and husband Curtis Weber of Redwood Falls and Elizabeth "Betty" Fischer Martin of Clear Lake, Iowa; a special "sister" Eleanor and her husband Don Lee of St. Louis Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1975, and her brother William.
She was born July 8, 1925 in Springfield to Phillip and Vera (Buth) von Fischer. She was a lifelong resident of Springfield and graduated from Springfield High School. She married Willis E. Weber on June 7, 1948. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she held numerous positions in the Mary Magdalene Circle and WELCA. She was also the first woman elected to the St. Paul Church Council. She was an active member of Circa Studi Club and the current treasurer of the Springfield Food Emergency S.A.F.E. She was a member of the John Watson Post Legion Auxiliary.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Reinhard "Reine" Volk, 87, of Nicollet died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nicollet, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Chapel in Nicollet, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.

Margot 'Maggie' Kohn, 70, 1108 S. Payne in New Ulm died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999 at her home.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 4 - 8 p.m. today and 7:30-11 a.m. Tuesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Kohn of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Dave Wenniger of Prior Lake, Debra and Ronald Jones of Belle Plaine; sons and daughters-in-law, Kurt and Nancy Kohn of Hoquiam, Wash., Kenneth and Rose Kohn of rural New Ulm; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard R. Kohn, Jr. in 1957; and seven brothers and sisters.
She was born on Feb. 24, 1929, in Kaiserslautern, Germany to Johanns and Anna (Blauth) Rahm. She married Richard Kohn on Jan. 19, 1957, in Kaiserslautern, Germany. They lived in New Ulm. She was a cook at Tropicana Supper Club in New Ulm and was currently a cook at the New Ulm Medical Center.

Russell Essig, 84, of Hazelton Township, Aitken, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at his home.
Services are today at the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood, with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Crystal.
Sorenson-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitken handled arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma; daughters, Janet and husband Wally Mai of Las Vegas, Janice and husband Robert Drew of Falkland, N.C., JoAnn and husband Robert Sr. Holmin of Aitkin, Gloria and husband Harvey Stolp of Elk River, Barbara and husband Walter Horejsi of Henderson, Nev., and Rita and husband Brad Ray of Coon Rapids; sons, Walter and wife Lorie Essig of Granite Falls and William and wife Clara Essig of W. Fargo, N.D.; 39 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and five great- great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
He was born May 24, 1915, in Warren, to Otto and Mary (Brandt) Essig. He moved with his family to Springfield, where he attended school. He married Wilma Manson on Nov. 4, 1926, in Atwater. He served as a Navy Seabee during World War II. He worked for Otis Elevator company in Minneapolis for 31 years. During retirement, he and his lived in Hazelton Township. He belonged to the American Legion in Aitkin and Robbinsdale.

Reinhard F. 'Gramps' Volk, 87, of Nicollet died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4 - 8 p.m. today at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and one hour prior to time of service at the church on Tuesday.
He is survived by his wife, Eunice M. Volk of Nicollet; a daughter, Janice Wagner of Nicollet; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerald "Pete" and Diane Volk of Nicollet, James and Sandy Volk of Kasota, and Roger and Vicki Volk of New Ulm; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ervin Volk of St. Peter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence and Herbert Volk; sisters, Eleonora Volk and Verna Hartman; and by a brother-in-law, Dick Wagner.
He was born Aug. 16, 1912, in Nicollet to Fred and Elise (Kastens) Volk. He attended country school in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County. On July 12, 1935 he married Eunice M. Roberts in Nicollet. He worked as a carpenter all of his life and was employed by Volk Brothers Construction in Nicollet. He owned and operated Reinies Cafe in Nicollet for 11 years, drove truck for the Nicollet Co-op, and worked as a bartender. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet where he also served on the church council. He was a charter member and past president of the Nicollet Conservation Club. He was a former member of the Nicollet Fire Department where he was chief.

Alice Noren, 81, of St. Peter, formerly of St. James, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999 in St. Peter.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at East Sveadahl Lutheran Church, rural St. James, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Sturm Funeral Home, St. James, and continues one hour before services at the church.
She is survived by daughters, Glenys and husband John Hulgren of Madison Lake, and Donna and husband James Brittsan of Lake Forest, Fla.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister Lorraine and husband Arvid Laingen of Butterfield; sisters-in-law, Mavis Matson, Florence Plath, Aladeen Noren, Cora Noren, and Vivian and husband Myron Johns; and brother-in-law Harold and wife Viola Noren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two brothers.
She was born Aug. 8, 1918, in Adrian Township, Watonwan County, to David and Olga (Samuelson) Matson. She attended Watonwan County Public Schools. She married Raymond Noren on Feb. 21, 1937, in West Sveadahl. They farmed near West Sveadahl and LaSalle, where she lived until 1983 when she moved to St. James. She was employed at LaSalle Locker Plant. She was a member of West Sveadahl Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School.

Marjorie Mueller, 89, of Springfield, died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999 at Springfield Medical Center.
Mass of Christian burial 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, Springfield, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today and 7:30-10 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield. A parish prayer service is 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and a St. Anne's CCW rosary is 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Raphael's Catholic Church.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews; many great and great-great-grand nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Walter and John; and sisters, Florence and Marie.
She was born June 17, 1910 in Springfield, to John and Hermina "Minnie" (Schwerzler) Mueller. She graduated from Springfield High School. She earned a teaching degree from Mankato State College. She taught first grade in Walnut Grove for one year and kindergarten in Springfield for 38 years. She became a resident of St. John Lutheran Home, Springfield in 1997. She was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church, St. Anne's CCW, Circa Studi Study Club, MEA and NEA.

Ronald Makarrall, Sr., 66, of St. Cloud, died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at his home.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Lamberton, with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today at Dingmann Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids and 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home, Lamberton.
He is survived by wife, Vivian of St. Cloud; children and their spouses, Ron Jr. and Kathy Makarrall of Clearwater, Steve and Jean Makarrall of Laporte, Doreen and Joe Wood of Springfield, Va., Michael and Denise Makarrall of Granite Falls, Denise and Michael Henry of Richmond; brother, Percy Jr. of Redwood Falls; sister, Doris Hutchins of Long Beach, Calif.; mother-in-law, Dorothy Westerlund of Lamberton; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents; and sister, Fern Mattison.
He was born Jan. 12, 1933, in Tracy, to Percy Sr. and Tilda (Brudeli) Makarrall. He married Vivian Westerlund on Dec. 20, 1952, in Lamberton. The moved to St. Cloud in 1963. He worked for Lystad's Exterminating until 1982. He owned and operated Popple Bar in Laporte for 1982 to 1996. He return to St. Cloud in 1996. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in St. Cloud, VFW Post 428, American Legion Post 134. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Stanley Hall, of St. Clair died Sunday Dec. 4, 1999, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester.
Services are 11 a.m. today at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Clair.
Visitation is one hour before services at the church. Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home, Janesville, handled arrangements.
He was a former employee of MBW in New Ulm.

Hilda Johnson, 101, of Franklin, died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at Franklin Healthcare Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Swedlanda Lutheran Church, Palmyra Township, rural Hector, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the church, and will continue one hour prior to services.
Hughes Funeral Home, Hector, is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by daughter Bernice Christenson of Hector; sons, J.S. Edwin "Eddie" and Gordon and wife Helen, all of Franklin; daughter-in-law Betty of Spicer; 11 grandchildren; one step-grandson; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Oscar Kulberg of Fairfax, Andrew and wife Irene of Minneapolis and Ernest of Franklin; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John; son Russell "Buzz"; daughter-in-law Janie; three grandchildren; brothers, Albert, Arthur, Carl, Emil, Ben and Axel; and sister Emma.
She was born Oct. 1, 1898, in Palmyra Township, Renville County, to Berge J. and Alida (Kristenson) Kulberg. She was a member of Swedlanda Lutheran Church, Hector. She married John B. Johnson on Jan. 20, 1920. Her husband died on Nov. 6, 1956. She remained on the farm until she fell, injuring her back, when she became a resident of Franklin Healthcare Center April 1, 1998.
