Rachel Mae Koenig, infant, of Darfur died Thursday Dec. 9, 1999, at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
She was born at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato to Craig and Laural Koenig of Darfur at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. She was baptized and died two hours later that day.
Private family services are being handled by the Sturm Funeral Home of St. James.
She is survived by her parents, Craig and Laural (Sickmann) Koenig of Darfur; brother Matthew of Darfur; grandmother Twila Sickmann of Minnetonka; great-grandmothers Hildegard Sieg of Truman and Erna Roeker of Janesville; uncles, aunts and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ryland and Mabel Koenig and grandfather George Sickmann.

Sylvester Braunger, 90, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan.
Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Nelson Funeral Home in Morgan with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. and will continue on Monday from 8:30 - 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife Mary of Morgan; four children Karen Zimmerman, Redondo Beach, Calif., Nancy and Bruce Shiffler, Smithfield, Va., Gregory Sylvester and Juliet Braunger of Sunland, Calif., and Gwendolyn and Robert Peterson of Sylmar, Calif.; three step-sons and three step-daughters Connie DeWitte of Washington, D.C., Ronald and Judith West of Burnsville, Jeffrey west of Sparks, Nevada, Donna and Steve Jorgenson of Crystal, Diane and Charles Jacobson of Minneapolis;and Richard and Linda West of Delano; one grandson; one granddaughter, one great-grandson, and 9 step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, one daughter, one brother and nine sisters.
He was born Aug. 20, 1909 at Wesley, Iowa, the son of Sylvester and Agnes (Stanek) Braunger. He moved to Minnesota with his family as a young child. He attended St. Michael's school and Morgan Public School. From 1927 to 1937 he lived in Sioux City, Iowa where he worked in a wholesale meat market and in Windom where he worked as a meat cutter before moving back to Morgan where he spent the rest of his life.
He was the manager of Tempel's Store in Morgan during the World War II years;and a salesman for Armour and Company from 1947 until he retired in March of 1974. He married Margaret Moede on Dec. 26, 1933 at Windom. She died Nov. 15, 1979. He married Mary Alice LeBlanc West on April 20, 1985 in Morgan.

Glenn "Flea" Christensen Graveside services with full military honors conducted by the New Ulm Veteran's Organizations will be held in the soldier's rest section of the New Ulm City Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. There will be no visitation or reviewal. Friends are invited to a luncheon at the New Ulm Legion following the service. Firle Funeral Home of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
He is survived by special friend Doris Furness of New Ulm; son Jim and Barbara Christensen of New London; daughters and sons-in-law Jane and Rodney Reed; Judy and David Sheets of Loveland, Colo., six grandchildren; sisterand brother-in-law Sharon and Leo Tutewohl of Farmington; one niece and several nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son Robert Christensen; grandson Nickel Reed; brother Wallace Christensen; and sister-in-law Lenore Christensen.
He was born Oct. 30, 1923, to August and Atley (Schlottman) Christensen in New Ulm. He grew up in New Ulm and attended public schools. He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1941 and entered the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in Europe and Africa during World War II. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to New Ulm for a short time. He then operated a grocery store and locker plant in Balaton for a few years. He returned to New Ulm where he worked for Schell's Brewery, Canterbury Downs, and was a member of the State Fair Mounted Patrol.He also worked as a groundskeeper for the New Ulm Country Club. He was a member of the American Legion and the American Quarter Horse Association.

Willard Tanley, 81, of New Ulm, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at Franklin Health Care Center.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and continues 7:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and one hour before the service Tuesday at the church.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Glenn "Nip" and Alice Tanley of rural New Ulm; special friend Florence Kohn of New Ulm; grandchildren, Tim and Chris Tanley, Michael Tanley, Ryan and Amy Tanley, Dana Tanley, and Aaron Tanley; great grandchildren Heidi, Katie, Mason, Mitchell, and Jared; sister Leona Byer; brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Betty Tanley of New Ulm; and nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, LaVerna, in October of 1993, brothers, Newton and David Tanley; and sister, Dora Brueske.
He was born July 12, 1918, in Cambria Township, Blue Earth County to Benjamin and Mary (Rinkle) Tanley. He attended school in Cambria Township. On May 29, 1939 he married LaVerna Kraus at St. Paul's Lutheran Parsonage in New Ulm. For six years, they lived in rural Cambria where he worked as a farm hand. In 1946 they moved to New Ulm. He worked at Wallner Construction until he retired in 1988. He married Florence Kohn on Aug. 19, 1995, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. They lived in New Ulm. He had been a resident of various nursing homes for the past 18 months. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
The family prefers memorials to either the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the Alzheimer's Research Center.

Wayne K. Goodthunder Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Cornelia's Episcopal Church, Lower Sioux Community, Morton, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and continues one hour before services Tuesday at the church.
He is survived by a brother, Kenneth Goodthunder of Morton, sisters, Beverly Kosin of Phoenix; Janice Gentry of Morton and Ellen Scott of Redwood Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Alvin Goodthunder and Richard Goodthunder.
He was born Jan. 16, 1947, to Guy and Marjorie (Bluestone) Goodthunder in Pipestone. As a child his family moved to the Lower Sioux Indian Community at Morton, and later moved to Phoenix, Ariz. in 1949. He grew up in Arizona and received his education there. He served in the Navy. After his discharge, he returned to Morton and later moved to West Virginia. He returned to the Lower Sioux Indian Community in 1976. He was a member of St. Cornelia's Episcopal Church.

Forrest D. 'Fizz' Mariner, 75, of Jackson, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at his home.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Jackson, with burial in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Jackson.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Sathe and Son Funeral Home, Jackson; and continues one hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Rose Welsch, 93, of Lucan, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Wabasso Health Care Center.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m.Tuesday followed by a Catholic Aid rosary.
The Sunset Funeral Home of Wabasso is handling the arrangements.

Lyle S. Wendelschafer, 82, of rural St. Peter, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at St. Peter Health Care Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Peter with burial in Greenhill Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Klein Funeral Home in St. Peter, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

Arne Hattrem, 81, of Mankato, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at Mankato Health Care Center, Mankato.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church in Mankato with burial in the Glenwood Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
Memorials may be given to Bethel Baptist Church or donor's choice.
He is survived by sister, Edna Langer of Mankato; special friend, Jennie Ullestad of Mankato, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, two sisters and infant twin sister.
He was born June 14, 1918, to Andrew and Sophia (Blatzheim) Hattrem in Hanska. He was a farmer, salesman for Flavorkist Cookie Co. and an insurance salesman. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Jason Budenski, 24, of 100 S. German, in New Ulm, died Saturday, Dec., 11, 1999, at his home.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home and continues one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
He is survived by his wife, Cherie Jane Budenski of New Ulm; children, Gabrielle and Allison Budenski; parents, Kenneth and Karen Budenski of New Ulm; sisters, Jenna Budenski of Apple Valley and Janel Budenski of New Ulm; brothers, Jared Budenski of Mitchell, S.D. and Jordan Budenski of New Ulm; grandmother, Rose Iverson of New Ulm; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ron and Jane Baker of New Ulm; brother-in-law, Randy Baker of New Ulm; grandparents-in-law, Leland and Mary Baker, and Dale and Patricia Schlottman, all of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Myron "Bud" Iverson and Edward and Lorraine Budenski.
He was born on Jan. 6, 1975, in Springfield, Kenneth and Karen (Iverson) Budenski. He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1993. He married Cherie Jane Baker on Feb. 11, 1995 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm. He was employed at Caterpillar in New Ulm for the last five years. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Harold W. Soukup, 90 of Roselle Park, N.J., died Nov. 27, 1999, at his home.
Mass of Christian burial was held Dec. 1 in the Church of the Assumption in Roselle Park.
He is survived by his sister Gertrude Droll of Roselle Park and his companion Jeanne D. Sykes.
He was born in New Ulm to Peter and Anna (Flor) Soukup. He graduated from St. John's University in Collegeville. He lived in Jersey City before moving to Roselle Park 51 years ago. He was employed by the Boyle-Midway American Home Products for more than 50 years before retiring as plant manager 25 years ago.

Esther S. Hansen, 87, of Trimont, died Monday, Dec. 13 at Trimont Health Care Center in Trimont.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont with burial will be in Cedar Lutheran Cemetery in rural Trimont.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and one hour prior to the services on Thursday.
She is survived by her husband, Harry Hansen of Trimont; daughters, Joyce Ekstadt and her husband, John of Lakeville, Karen Buhler and husband, David of Butterfield; sons, Dale Hansen and his wife, Mildred of Ormsby, Larry Hansen of St James and Brian Hansen and his wife Joanne of Trimont; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Irene Hansen and Alma Lenning and other relatives.
She was born Dec. 10, 1912, in rural Triumph, to John and Mary (Meyer) Kramer. She attended District 28 rural school and graduated from Triumph-Monterey High School in 1929. On Jan.12, 1932, she married Harry Hansen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Monterey. They farmed in Cedar Township until retiring in 1979. They moved to Trimont in 1992. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont and its Ladies Aid.

Elma L. Wagner, 95, of St. James, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at St. James.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in St. James, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery in St. James.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James, and at the church Thursday one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by children, Jerry and wife Mary Ann Wagner of St. James, Carol and husband Dennis Heckman of St. James, Sylvia "Sue" and husband Chuck Ekstedt of St. James, and Gail and husband John Peterson of Appleton, Wis.; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and sister-in-law, Leanna Froehling of St. James.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dan on March 18, 1976; daughter, Vonnie and husband Walter Otter; grandson, Todd Heckman; brothers, John, Henry and Herbert; and sisters, Linda Wordalman, Della Panter and Anna Fleming.
She was born June 7, 1904, in Oak Grove, Ill., to Harm and Anna (Hopmann) Froehling. In 1910 she moved with her family to St. James where she attended St. Paul's Parochial School. She married Dan Wagner on May 18, 1928, in Madelia. They farmed in Rosendale Township. They retired in 1966. After her husband's death in 1976. In 1986, she became a resident of Pleasant View Good Samaritan Home.
