Dorothy C. (Dora) Phelps, 95, of St. Peter, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at St. Peter Health Care Center in St. Peter.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Peter, with in the Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Visitation is one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Klein Funeral Home in St. Peter is handling arrangements.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; a special niece Delores and her husband Marlyn Wendt of Amboy; and a special friend, Ruthe Moore of Mankato. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1964; four brothers; two sisters.
She was born April 3, 1904, in Elmore, to Paul and Caroline (Footh) Weise. She attended school in Elmore. As a teenager, Dorothy lived in Bernadotte and worked at the St. Peter State Hospital. On Nov. 16, 1928, she married Verne Phelps at Gaylord. They lived in various places in the Twin Cities area, including St. Louis Park. She worked at Dayton's in downtown Minneapolis as a salesclerk. She edited films for Columbia Pictures. She was a member of the St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, and the Ladies Aid.

Leona M. Zarn, 88, of Sleepy Eye, died Tuesday, Dec. 14. 1999, in Minneapolis.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30 a.m.-noon Friday at e Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, and at the church one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by a daughter, Gloria and husband Dale Miller of St. Paul Park; sons, Daryl and wife Bonitta Zarn of Finlayson, Lannie and wife Bonnie Zarn of Sleepy Eye; Leon "Red" and wife Sandy Zarn of Sleepy Eye; a foster son, Melvin Brown of Minneapolis; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Gladys Zarn of Sleepy Eye and Ollie Radloff of New Ulm.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, and a brother, Elmer.
She was born Nov. 2, 1911, in Milford Township, Brown County, to Ernest and Anna (Gerholz) Radloff. She attended school in Milford Township and worked on the family farm. She married George Zarn on June 18, 1935, in New Ulm. They lived in Sleepy Eye. She worked for Tony Downs Foods in St. James and Del Monte in Sleepy Eye. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Margaret 'Marge' Gigstad, 81, formerly of Wood Lake and Marshall, died Dec. 13, 1999, at Tracy Nursing Home.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church in Marshall with burial in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Hamilton-Birk Funeral Home in Marshall and continues one hour before services Friday at the church.
She is survived by sons, ValGene and wife Jeanie Gigstad of Chitherall, and Ricky Gigstad of Spokane, Wash.; daughters, Carol and husband David Spartz of Dublin, Ohio, Nola Johnson of Minneapolis, Nancy and husband Terry Rewerts of St.George, Kan., and Cheryl and husband Don Vogl of Walnut Grove; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers Dennis Warnke and wife Mary of Wood Lake, and Lenard Warnke and wife Collette of Cottage Grove; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, Harold on Nov. 28, 1965; parents; two sisters; and seven brothers.
She was born May 11, 1918 near Wood Lake to Adolph and Emma (Behr) Warnke. She married Harold J. Gigstad on April 16, 1935. They lived in the Wood Lake and Marshall areas until 1965 when they moved to New Ulm. She worked at 3M after her husband's death and retired after 14 years. She later returned to Marshall.

Frank Schweinfurter, 90, of rural Redwood Falls, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at Wood Dale Nursing Home, Redwood Falls.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4:30-8:30 p.m; Friday at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, with a KC rosary at 7:30 p.m. followed by a parish prayer service; and continues 8:30-10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

He is survived by a son, James and wife Diane of Olivia; daughters; Edith and husband Darold Christensen of Savage, Sally and husband Bob Willcox of Rosemount, nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn and husband Harold Moldestad of Redwood Falls.
He was preceded in death by his wife, a brother Joseph and an infant sister Gladys.
He was born on April 17, 1909, in Renville County, to Frank and Mary (Macholda) Schweinfurter. He grew up on a farm in Beaver Falls Township and attended country school. He traveled to Canada and helped build roads and also worked on the railroad. He also worked on a threshing crew from Missouri to Canada. On June 15, 1936, he married Iva May Gable in Long Prairie. They farmed near North Redwood and Beaver Falls for 61 years, retiring in 1986. Iva died on Sept. 5, 1991. He was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church. He helped build the Precious Blood Catholic School in Redwood Falls in the early 1960s. He was a life member of Knights of Columbus and a charter member of Fr. 0 Sullivan's Knights of Columbus. He served on the North Redwood Farmers Elevator Board for 36 years, served on the Farmers Union Board and Beaver Falls Township Board as secretary, and was a member of the R.E.A.

Ralph Dunn, 6 1, of 1106 N. Broadway, New Ulm, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm. Burial will be held at a later date in Sheldon, Iowa.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today and 7:30 a.m. until the time of services Saturday. Military honors will be conducted by the New Ulm veterans organizations immediately following the service .
He is survived by his wife, Mary of New Ulm; sons, Donald Dunn of Mankato, George Dunn of St. Louis, Mo.; daughter, Marsha Dunn; brother, George Dunn and his wife Val of Sioux Falls, S.D.; parents-in-law, Fritz and Sue Ling of Butterfield; brother-in-law, Donald Ling of Butterfield; sisters-in-law Phyllis Dunn of Sibley, Iowa, Colleen Dunn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Pat Dunnick and her husband Delmar of Windom, Kay Holmberg of Mountain Lake, and Kay Ling of Des Moines, Iowa; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one brother-in-law.
He was born June 1 3, 1938, to George and Martha (Waterstradt) Dunn,in Sheldon, Iowa. He graduated from Sheldon High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army in 1957 to 1960 and was stationed in Germany. He married Mary Ling on Nov. 20, 1960, in Sheldon, Iowa. They lived in Sibley, Iowa; Mountain Lake; and Springfield. He moved to New Ulm in 1969. He worked as a police officer and retired from the New Ulm Police Department in 1987.

Ruby Coulson
JEFFERS -- Ruby Coulson, 73, of Jeffers, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at her home.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Jeffers with burial in the Jeffers Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday and 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Anderson -Schmidt Funeral Home in Jeffers.
She is survived by her husband, Vivian; and many nieces and nephews.
She was born in Nevada, Iowa, on June 28, 1926, to Clifford and Jordine (Forseth) Baker. She graduated from Jeffers High School.
She married to Albert Paul Herbst in 1944. A few months later, he was killed in World War II. On Dec. 26,1946, she married Vivian Coulson in Minneapolis. They lived in Windom and Lincoln, Neb.; and Baker, Calif., where she was a postmistress. They relocated to Boulder City, Nev., while she continued to work in public works. They moved back to Jeffers in the late 1970s. She belonged to Jeffers United Methodist Church and sang in the choir.

Marlowe Kelly, 78 of Madelia, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at Madelia Community Hospital.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madelia with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is Friday 5-8 p.m. at Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia and also one hour prior to services at the church.
Pilgrim Funeral Home of Madelia handled arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; daughters, Janelle Lambrecht and husband Ronnie of Madelia, Jean Hagen and husband Dan of Lino Lakes, Joyce Earl and husband Mike of Owatonna; son, Ronald of Tenstrike; five grandchildren; brothers, Gordon and wife Hilma of St. James, Donald and wife Janice of Lake Crystal; sister, Arlene Jacobson of Madelia.
He was preceded in death by sisters Ilah Otto and Elsie Turbes.
He was born April 25, 1921, in Hector to Emil and Ida (Sandborg) Kelly. He grew up in the Madelia area and attended school in Grogan and Garden City. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Navy Machinist's Mate First Class in the Pacific and Atlantic theaters from 1942-46. He married Norma Kassube on Sept. 27, 1953, at St. John's Lutheran Church of Antrim, rural Truman. They farmed in the Madelia area 40 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Madelia VFW.

Vivian D. Axenty Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye with burial at a later date in the Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach, Calif.
Visitation is noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by daughter, Sally Timm of Sleepy Eye; half- sister, Irene Loose of Lomita, Calif., half-brother, Ronald Schutt of Lomita, Calif.; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Carl Herman Jorgenson in 1940; second husband, Robert Axenty in 1972; half-brother, Forest "Sandy" Schutt; and a niece, Dianne Lee.
She was born on Feb. 7, 1912, in Bemidji to Edward Albert and Marie Janet (Siems) Schutt. They lived in Schoolcraft Township near LaPorte until 1914 when her mother died and she went to live with her maternal grandparents, Louis and Meta Siems in Chicago. At ag ten, she went to live with her father and stepmother in Sleepy Eye.
She graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1929 and then worked at various jobs in St. Paul and Vadnais Heights. She married Carl Herman Jorgenson in St. Paul. After his death in 1940, she moved to Sleepy Eye and worked in food service. In 1961, she moved to California and became head pastry cook at the South Bay Hospital in Redondo Beach, Calif. She married Robert Axenty in 1964. She moved to Springfield in 1987 and then to Sleepy Eye in 1990. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye.

Veronica A. Windschitl, 101, of Sleepy Eye died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, in Sleepy Eye.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today and 7:30-10 a.m. Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
She is survived by her daughters, Dolores Johanson of San Diego, Calif., Alice Manderfeld of Mankato, Rita Fagen of Bountiful, Utah, and Bernice Gordon of Bloomington; son, James and wife Pat Windschitl of Virginia Beach, Va.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Haeny of Austin; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Alexander of Green Bay, Wis., Veronica Weicherding, Lorraine Windschitl and Ann Deible all of Sleepy Eye; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George on March 27, 1955; grandsons, Robert Manderfeld, Jr., Thomas Manderfeld and Charles Manderfeld; sister, Dolores in infancy; brothers, Joseph, Leonard, Victor, Edward and Sylvester; sons-in-law, Joe Johnson, Robert Manderfeld, Murvine Fagen and Bill Gordon.
She was born Dec. 3, 1898, to John P. and Susan (Ludwig) Weicherding in Leavenworth Township. She married George Nicholas Windschitl on Sept. 10, 1919, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. They lived in Sleepy Eye. She had been a resident of the Sleep Eye Care Center since 1992. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and Divine Providence Auxiliary.

Eldon Dallmann, 81, of North Mankato and formerly of Nicollet, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at KNAPP Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and one hour before services Saturday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel of North Mankato; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Edwin Grimes and Barbara and Monte Smith all of Dallas, Texas, Sharon and Douglas Fromm of Brooklyn Park; son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Sandy Dallmann of Hopkins; 14 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; sister, Ardella Enter of Nicollet; brother and sister-in-law Leonhard and Eldora Dallmann of New Ulm; and sisters-in-law Cornelia Dallmann of Mankato and Ruth Dallmann of Nicollet.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jane Dallmann in infancy; brothers Walter, Harry, Edwin and Daniel Dallmann; sister Lorene Bode; sisters-in-law Molly Dallmann and Ida Dallmann; and by brothers-in-law Lester Enter and Eugene Bode.
He was born June 14, 1918, in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County, to Gustav and Anna (Maas) Dallmann. He married Hazel Wills on Sept. 24, 1941, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. They farmed in Nicollet Township for 40 years before retiring in 1980. They wintered in Texas. They moved to North Mankato in 1997. He was a life-long member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet.

Timothy N. Olinger, 38 of Monticello died Wednesday Dec. 15, 1999 at St. Cloud Hospital from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Henry's Catholic Church of Monticello. There will be a private burial.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today Friday evening at the church with a prayer service at 7 p.m.; and continues one hour before the service Saturday.
Arrangements are with Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy; sons, Adam and Jacob; daughter, DeDe; parents, Wilfred and Irene Olinger of Albert Lea; brothers, Ron (Peggy) Olinger of St. Joseph, Mo., and Terry (Paula) Olinger of Moorhead; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie and Roger Erickson of Austin, Janet and Robert Hartman of Albert Lea, Sharon and David Harris of LaCrosse, Wis., Jodi and Clay Eschrich of Mankato, Patti and Dennis Trabing of Burnsville, and Kristi and Steve Kruehn of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews
He was born on Dec. 6, 1961, in Mitchell, S.D., to Wilfred and Irene (Bartscher) Olinger. He graduated from Albert Lea High School. He attended Austin Community College On June 1982, he married Cindy Perkins in Austin. He was employed in management/sales for the Westburne Supply Co. of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area.
