Calvin H. (Kelly) Marks, 65, of Springfield, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Chapel in Springfield with burial in the veterans section of the city cemetery with full military honors.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 -10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
He is survived by special friend, Nathalie Christensen of Springfield; sons, Jeff and wife Doreen Christensen of Springfield, Doug and wife Natalie Marks of Redwood Falls; six grandchildren, Daniel, Emily, Joe, Amanda, Aaron and Britney; and brother, Curt and wife Shirley Marks of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Herbert, Pete and Merlyn; and sisters, Erna and Evelyn.
He was born March 21, 1934, in Burnstown Township, Brown County, to William and Kate (Feir) Marks. He attended country school. He farmed until 1988, hauled gravel for Eddie C. Sellner in the early 1990s, worked with Doug's Lawn and Landscaping in Redwood Falls. For several years he was a driver for Brown County Veterans Van. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and served in the U.S. Army.
Walter 'Walt' Plagge, 80, of 1224-5th North St., New Ulm died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at Lafayette Good Samaritan Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Gibbon.
Visitation is 3- 8 p.m. today and continues 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and also one hour before the service at the church .
He is survived by his wife, Marion Plagge of New Ulm; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Dean Bruns of Gibbon; son and daughter-in-law Gary and Kathy Plagge of Mt. Vernon, Wash.; stepson and and his wife Charles and Patricia Wech of Topeka, Kansas; 10 grandchildren; three step grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Plagge of New Ulm; and a brother-in-law, Merton Steinbach of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Evelyn Plagge; daughter, Pamela Jean Plagge in infancy; grandson, Todd Brun; great grandson Caleb Bode; brother Henry Plagge; sister, Anna Steinbach; sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Wallace Carlson.
He was born Dec. 30, 1918, in Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County to Albert and Louise (Renner) Plagge. He attended District 43 school near Lafayette. He graduated from Molar Barber College in Minneapolis where he graduated in 1938. He married Evelyn Hamann on Aug. 20, 1940 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. They lived in New Ulm where he worked as a barber for area barber shops. He served in the United States Army from June 30, 1943 until Dec. 27, 1945. While in the service he was a barber and was stationed in Germany. After the services he worked as a barber in the New Ulm area. In 1952 he purchased his own barber shop in Gibbon and called it Walt's Barber Shop . He moved to Gibbon in 1955. He retired in 1982 and then sold his business. After the death of his first wife, he married Marion (Altmann) Wech on Dec. 30, 1982, at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. He was a charter member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church where he also had served on the church council. He was a past member of Gibbon and New Ulm American Legion clubs. He became a resident of the Lafayette Good Samaritan Home in October 1999.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to either the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the Association for the Blind.
Gertrude Klammer, 84, of Hector, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at Hutchinson Area Health Care.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stewart.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Monday at Hughes Funeral Home in Stewart and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
She is survived by her sister, Lillian Bleck of Stewart; and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harvey; and brother, Amos Lipke.
She was born Aug. 10, 1915, in Preston Township, Renville County, to Henry and Anna (Blum) Lipke. She attended school in Renville County. She married Harvey Klammer on Feb. 14, 1934, at St. Paul's Lutheran. She was a member of W.E.L.C.A. since 1942. She belong to a home extension group in Sibley County. She moved to Hector in 1980.
Leonard A. Schuette, 89, of Circle Pines, formerly of Winthrop, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Home in St. Paul.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Winthrop, with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Monday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop and continues one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Schuette of Circle Pines; son, Tim Schuette and wife Kay of Winthrop; daughters, Mary Jo Schuette of White Bear Lake and Susan Thompson and husband Roger of Ramsey; three grandchildren, Mark Schuette of Santa Cruz, Calif., Shawn Schuette and husband Kenny Vittera of Minneapolis and Christine Mueller and husband Greg of Coon Rapids; great-granddaughter, Sarah Rose Mueller of Coon Rapids; brother, Armin Schuette and wife Bonnie of Seminole, Fla.; and two stepgrandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was born March 8, 1910, in Transit Township, Sibley County to August and Emma (Stresemann) Schuette. He lived in Brownton and Montevideo before moving back to Winthrop. In his youth, he worked road construction and drove gravel truck. He married Martha Meyer on Oct. 6, 1934, at Zion Lutheran. He operated a Texaco filling station in Winthrop for nearly 10 years. He and his wife owned and operated Schuette's Food Store in Winthrop for more than 22 years. After retirement, the couple con lived in Winthrop until three years ago when they moved to Circle Pines. He entered Our Lady Good Counsel Home Dec. 17, 1999. He was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran and was a member of the Winthrop Volunteer Fire Department for more than 26 years.
Nicki Pattee, 64, of Redwood Falls, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at her home.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and will continue from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by her husband Richard of Redwood Falls; their three sons, Michael and wife Mavis and their children, Ryan Tyler and Ross of Glenwood, David and his children, Clara, Joan and Adam of Redwood Falls, and Tom and wife Patrice of Waseca; brother, Larry and his wife Barb Tolzin of Menno, S.D.; two sisters, Betty Fleihman of Tampa Bay. Fla. and Mary McManamom and husband Jim of Waseca.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a daughter-in-law, Carol.
She was born Oct. 20, 1935, in Lake Preston, S.D., to Lloyd and Pearl (Nelson) Tolzin. She graduated from Lake Preston High School. She received her teaching certificate from Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, S.D. She taught in a rural school between Lake Preston and Arlington, S.D. She married Richard Pattee Aug. 21, 1955 at the American Lutheran Church in Lake Preston. They lived in Ft. Still, Okla. and Germany when he was in the service. She was employed as a substitute teacher. They moved to Minnesota and lived in Belview for two years, where she was a librarian at Echo. They then lived in Gaylord for 15 years where she was again a substitute. They moved to Mankato where she was the office manager at Job Placement for Disabled Persons and also was a sales clerk at the Sears store. They moved to Redwood Falls in 1990. She taught Sunday school and was a den leader for Cub Scouts.
John Hannah, 93, of Springfield, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at Springfield Medical Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Springfield with burial in the city cemetery.

He is survived by daughter, Connie Carver of Redding, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Hannah Ringham and husband Clark of Edina; grandchildren, Lynn and husband Mark O'Gorman of Minneapolis, Jeanne and husband Joseph White of St. Paul, Lisa and husband Steven Pike of Bloomington; seven great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Harold and wife Catherine Meierbachtol of San Diego, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eunice in 1992, and a son, Richard in 1992.
He was born April 20, 1906, in Brookville Township, Redwood County, to John J. and Fredrica (Biddle) Hannah. He married Eunice Meierbachtol on Aug. 20, 1929, at the farm home in Brookville. They farmed in Brookville until moving into Springfield in 1988. Following the death of his wife, he became a resident at Vesta Ridge in November 1995. He was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church, served in many church offices and on many volunteer committees at the church. He was a life-long member of the Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star.
Ed Jueneman, 89, of Springfield and formerly of Sanborn, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Sanborn with burial in Sanborn City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8:15 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield; and continues one hour before services at the church. There will be a parish and Knights of Columbus prayer service at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. today.
He is survived by daughters, Dorothy and husband Layton Peters of New Ulm, Elaine and husband David Hoger of Saratoga, Calif., Sharon and husband Robert Sturm of Springfield and Barbara and husband Richard Dahl of Annandale; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Loreen Hagert of Sleepy Eye and Elizabeth Hagert of Springfield; and brother-in-law, George Hagert of Sleepy Eye.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances in 1987; a daughter, grandson, great-granddaughter, five sisters and three brothers.
He was born April 29, 1910, in Granville, Iowa, to Adam and Elizabeth (Baune) Jueneman. He married Frances Hagert on Feb. 17, 1931, at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda. They resided on a farm near Wabasso, Wanda and Bird Island, and moved to the Sanborn area in 1939 to farm. He retired in 1965 and moved to Sanborn. He was a bus driver for District No. 638 and worked at locker plant. In 1991, he moved to Lamberton and later became a resident at St. John Lutheran Home in 1995. He was a long-term member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He worked as a mechanic, farmer, carpenter, bartender.
Sylvester J. "Deacon Sy" Sauer, 70, of St. Peter died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at his home.
A Mass of Christian Resurrection is 10 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Catholic Church in St. Peter with burial in Calvary Cemetery in St. Peter with military honors.
Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Catholic Church with a Knights of Columbus rosary at 6 p.m., and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements are handled by St. Peter Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of St. Peter; sons, Richard and wife Laurie Sauer of Duluth, Timothy and wife Cindy Sauer of Rosemount; daughters, Nancy and husband Dr. Robert Kaczrowski of Luverne, Carol and husband Jack Vande of St. Peter, Debora Sauer of Vermillion, Colleen and husband David Bell of St. Peter, Katheryn and husband James Besst of Coon Rapids; and 20 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born Oct. 17, 1929, in St. Cloud to Sylvester J. Sauer, Sr. and Gertrude M. Karls. He graduated from Technical High School in St. Cloud. He married Mary Ann Gaida on June 14, 1952, in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in St. Cloud. He received B.S. degree in business and mathematics from St. Cloud State. He served in the U.S. Army in the Occupation Forces in Germany from 1951-1953. From 1954-1964 he taught mathematics and business at Warroad High School. He obtained a M.S. degree in counseling from Bemidji State College. From 1964-1985 he was student counselor at St. Peter High School. He attended diaconate training at St. John's University from 1973-1975 and was ordained as permanent deacon in the New Ulm Diocese in 1975. He was the second deacon ordained in Minnesota and the first in New Ulm Diocese. He has served as deacon for St. Peter and St. Mary's parishes from 1975 until present. In 1985, he retired from education. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree; Retired Educators Association of Minnesota; Mankato Retired Educators Association; past member of Minnesota School Counselors Association; paster member of Minnesota Association for Counseling and Development; St. Peter American Legion Post No. 39; charter member of the St. Peter Police Reserve; charter member of St. Peter Ambulance Service; and past commissioner of the Housing and Redevelopment Authority of St. Peter.
Anthony "Tony" M. Schroepfer, 92, of Sleepy Eye died Dec. 25, 1999, in Sleepy Eye.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a K.C. and Catholic Aid rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home today.
He is survived by daughters, LaDonna and husband Alphonse Mathiowetz of Comfrey, Theresia and husband Ernest Kretsch of New Ulm, Sylvia Braun of Sleepy Eye, Kathleen and husband Richard Marcus of Coeur D' Alene, Idaho; sons, Rob and wife Linda, Dick and wife Lindy, and Anthony Jr. and wife Shirley, all of Sleepy Eye; son-in-law, David Jensen of Bloomington; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sisters, Angie Sturm of Springfield and Frieda Haas of Sleepy Eye; sisters-in-law Agnes Schroepfer of Sleepy Eye and Valaria Simmet of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Brigitta; daughter, Barbara Jensen; three grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Louisa Zwaschka, Norbert and Leo Schroepfer, and Martha Windschitl; brothers-in-law, Henry Haas and Mike Sturm.
He was born July 17, 1907, in Albin Township, Brown County, to Anton and Theresia (Prokosch) Schroepfer, where he grew up and attended District 33 school. He farmed in Albin Township. He married Brigitta Soukup on Sept. 7, 1931, in Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. They farmed until 1969 when they moved to Sleepy Eye. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Aid Association and Sleepy Eye Senior Citizens.
Willard F. Thenemann, 79, of Winthrop, died on Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at Arlington Municipal Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p. m today and 7:30-8:30 a. m. Wednesday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the funeral chapel. Visitation will continue one hour before services Wednesday at the church.
He is survived by sisters, Doris Schuft and her husband, Wilfred of Winthrop, Gladys Woller and her husband, Vernon of Winthrop, and Val Youngblom of St. Peter; sister-in-law, Edna Thenemann of Sleepy Eye; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Viola Gordon, Elizabeth Nelson and Ruth West; and brothers, Fredrick and Ervin Thenemann.
He was born on Sept. 14, 1920, in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, to Henry J. and Marie (Bubolz) Thenemann. He grew up and attended country school in Bismarck Township. He farmed with his brother Fred in Affsborg Township, Sibley County, until 1978, when they retired and moved into Winthrop.He was a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop.
Herbert W. Wolle, 81, of Mankato and formerly of Lewisville and Madelia, died Saturday Dec. 25, 1999, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mankato with burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in rural Lewisville.
Visitation is one hour before services at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to Our Savior's Lutheran Church or to donor's choice. Arrangements are handled by the Mankato Mortuary.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Wolle of Mankato; son, Neal Wolle of Fargo, N.D.; daughters, Charlotte Greamba. and her husband Frank of Plymouth, Kerri Hanson and her husband Paul of Stewartville; seven grandchildren; sister, Alma Leng of Truman; two brothers, Erwin Wolle of St. James, W Gordon Wolle of South Branch; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother.
He was born Oct. 5, 1918, to John and Margarethe (Karau) Wolle in Lewisville. He graduated from St. James High School. He entered the United States Army on March 5, 1942, and served in the Pacific Theater during World War Il. He married Helen Ruth Davis on Feb. 1, 1948, at Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville. He farmed in the Lewisville and Madelia area. He worked for 15 years at Kraft Foods in New Ulm before retiring. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Mankato and a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville and Salem Lutheran Church in Madelia. He was also a member of the Lewisville American Legion.
