Raymond J. Farniok, Sr., 67, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Arlington with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 8-10 a.m. Wednesday at the Fenske Funeral Home in Arlington. Parish prayers are 8 p.m. Tuesday at funeral home. The V.F.W. Post 6031 in Arlington will conduct military rites at the funeral.
He is survived by his wife Vivian Farniok of Arlington; daughters, Rebecca Schuette and special friend Leon Tetzlaff of St. Paul, Betty and Ari Aristides of Medina, Marianne and Dan Steinborn of Kilkenny; sons, Raymond Jr., and Mary Farniok of Arlington, and Bruce and Stephanie Farniok of Bloomington; eight grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law: Mary Motzko, Lorraine Duske and Eleanor and Clinton Pearson, all of Watertown; brothers and sister-in-law, Clarence and Lucille and Edwin and Shirley Farniok, all of Watertown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; a sister, Evelyn Kruzel; and brothers-in-law, George Motzko, Vernon Duske, and Frank Kruzel.
He was born on June 10, 1932, in Delano to Michael and Nellie (Cebulla) Farniok. He served in the Army during Korean Conflict from 1951-1954. On Nov. 23, 1960, he married Vivian Johnson in Alabama. He worked as a farm-laborer, a factory employee at Fingerhut Corp, an employee at Arlington Concrete Products of Arlington, and at Big Stone Canning Co. of Arlington. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Arlington and V.F.W. Post No. 6031 in Arlington.
Clara Madsen, 92, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at her home in Morgan.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Morgan will burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson Funeral Home, Morgan with a prayer service at 7:30 pm, with visitation continuing one hour prior to services at the church.
Clara is survived by children, Ronald and his wife, Marcella, Albuquerque, N.M., William and his wife, Janet of Morgan, Judy Zamzow, of Minneapolis, Gary and his wife, Linda of Morgan; brother, Irvin Busiahn, Morgan, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon; brothers, Elmer, Ardine, and Raymond; sister, Irene; and two half-sisters, Lily and Anna.
She was born July 17,1907, in Sioux Agency Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to Emil and Augusta (Dallman) Busiahn. She attended rural school in Sioux Agency Township in Yellow Medicine County, and later St. John Lutheran School in Wood Lake. She moved to Redwood Falls in 1934 . She married Weldon Madsen on Jan. 29, 1939, at Sleepy Eye. They moved to a farm in Brookville Township and remained there until 1974. Her husband died March 12, 1974. She then moved to Morgan. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and WELCA.
Ella Sannwald, 99, of New Ulm, died Jan. 1, 2000, at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, New Ulm.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at Firle Funeral Home.
She is survived by nephews, Dr. Howard Korth of New London, Dr. Arthur Aufderheide and his wife Mary of Duluth, Rev. Howard Aufderheide and his wife Rose of San Diego, Calif.; nieces, Doris Aufderheide of New Ulm, Lois Maas and her husband Lester of Sleepy Eye, Doris Ahle of Arizona; many great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers; and six sisters.
She was born June 12, 1901, in New Ulm to Christian and Hermina (Miller) Ahle. She worked for the New Ulm Rural Telephone Company for several years. On July 18, 1925, she married Arthur C. Sannwald. Following her husband's death in 1976, she continued to make her home in New Ulm. She became a resident of Luther Memorial Home in Madelia in 1989. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
Rev. Henry T. Peter, 69, of 1107 Center Street, New Ulm, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.
Services are 1 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and continues one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.
He is survived by his wife, Ardyce Peter of New Ulm; daughters and son-in-law, Sarah and Rev. Jonathan Werre of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, Kristin Peter of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in- law, John and Deborah Peter of Three Rivers, Mich., and James and Brenda Peter of Portage, Mich.; six grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Rev. Carl Voss of Watertown, Wis.; sister-in-law, Karen and Fred Day of Lake City; and sisters-in-law, Karl and Alice Peter of Jenera, Ohio, and John and Jennie Peter of Loveland, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born on April 29, 1930, in Findlay, Ohio to Henry and Anna (Krichbaum) Peter. He graduated from the Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw, Mich. in 1948, from Northwestern College in Watertown, Wis. in 1952 and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wis., in 1956. He married Ardyce Bening on July 2, 1961, at St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winona. He served on the staff of the Northwestern College in Watertown, Wisc. He served the dual parishes of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Waterloo, Wis., and Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Marshall, Wis., and later he served at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sodus, Mich. He helped lay the groundwork for Michigan Lutheran High School in St. Joseph, Mich., and later served as the chairman of the school's board of regents. He retired from the ministry in January of 1987. He was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. He was on the Michigan District Board for Parish Education of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. He was also a member of the Synod's commission on inter-church relations.
Eleanora J. Kennedy, 76, of Madelia died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madelia with burial in Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia and one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Wayne Jahnke of Vernon Center; six st-grandchildren; brother, George Guemmer of Redwood Falls; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Thomas in 1986; six sisters; three brothers.
She was born April 4, 1923, in New Ulm to Louis and Anna (Grunnet) Guemmer. She grew up and attended school in New Ulm. She married Thomas Kennedy on June 16, 1945. They lived in Madelia where she worked at the Madelia turkey plant and as a waitress. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Madelia.
Kathryn (Mrs. Randy) Neveln, 45, of 406 16th South, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000 at the Vencor Hospital in Golden Valley.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Oakwood United Methodist Church in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Thursday.
She is survived by her husband, Randy Neveln of New Ulm; daughter, Jennifer Neveln of New Ulm; sons, Joel and Michael Neveln of New Ulm; parents, Marion and Jean Houser of Griswold, Iowa; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Kay and Jim LaMaster of Hastings, Nebr.; brothers and sister-in-law, Richard and Carolyn Houser of Clarinda, Iowa and Gordon Houser of Griswold, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
She was born on Nov. 18, 1954, in Creston, Iowa, to Marion and Jean (Liddell) Houser. She graduated from Griswold High School in 1973. She married Randy Neveln on June 14, 1980, at First United Methodist Church in Red Oak, Iowa. She received certification as a nurses assistant. They lived in Red Oak, Iowa, until 1988 when they moved to St. Peter for a year. In 1989 they moved to New Ulm. She worked as a nurses assistant at the Oak Hills Living Center for the last ten years.
Marie L. Wolterman, 73 of Fairfax died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999 at her daughter's residence in Miami, Fla.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today with a 5 p.m. VFW Auxiliary service, a 6 p.m. Catholic Aid rosary, and a 7 p.m. parish prayer service at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Marla Wolterman of Minneapolis, Jan and Chris Koop of S. She was preceded in death by husband, Duane in 1999; a son in infancy; parents; brother, Cyril Anton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Stanley Wolterman, Clarice Murphy, Jim Murphy, Jack Fitzgerald, Jim Kappenman, Jack Krebs.
She was born May 22, 1926, in St. Cloud to John and Marie (Heinze) Anton. She grew up in St. Cloud and Fairfax. She attended St. Andrew's Catholic School and later enrolled in bookkeeping courses in Mankato. She worked at the county offices in Olivia and at a bank in Olivia. She married Duane Wolterman on March 2, 1957 in Olivia. They resided in Winthrop. She worked for Midland Co-op Oil and S and S Contractors before moving to Annadale where she worked for Carlson Marketing Organization in Howard Lake. They moved to Fairfax to retire in 1993. She was a past member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Winthrop and was a current member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax where she belonged to St. Mary's Society and Catholic Aid. She was also a member and current president of the Fairfax VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She belonged to the Civic League.
Elsie Kokesch, 93, of Sleepy Eye Care Center and formerly of the St. George area died Sunday at Sleepy Eye Care Center.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. George Catholic Church in St. George with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday and will continue 7:30 until 8:30 a.m. Friday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and one hour prior to time of service at the church on Friday.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Devota and Richard Rothmeier of Morgan; son and daughter-in-law, Reuben and Kathy Kokesch of rural Gibbon; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Biebl of Farifax Community Home; nd sisters-in-law, Veronica Rathmann of New Ulm and Verona Rathmann of Gibbon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benedict F. "Ben" Kokesch on Feb. 3, 1976; a grandson, Patrick Rothmeier on Sept. 2, 1978; brothers, William, Otto, John, Joe, Edwin, Ben, and Peter Rathmann; and by sisters, Clara Klement and Anna Twite.
She was born March 1, 1906, in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, to Anton and Katherine (Tauer) Rathmann. She married Benedict Kokesch on Oct. 21, 1930, at St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon. They farmed in West Newton Township, Nicollet County, until 1968 when they retired and moved into St George. She was a member of St. George Catholic Church, C.C.W. and Catholic Aid Society. She was a past West Newton Township 4-H leader and a past member of the Loretto Hospital Auxiliary in New Ulm. She had been a resident of the Sleepy Eye Care Center since 1984.

Norbert L. Deml, 84, of 419 S. Jefferson St., in New Ulm died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at Sleepy Eye Care Center.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Deml of New Ulm; sister-in-law, Rose Deml; niece, Myrtle Wolf; nephews, Joseph Deml, and Leo and his wife Helen Zangl, all of New Ulm; and by great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was born on Aug. 1, 1915, in New Ulm to Joseph and Clara (Gales) Deml. He attended New Ulm Public School and Holy Trinity Catholic School. He married Marie Gales on Dec. 10, 1943 at Florence, S.C. He worked at the Eagle Roller Mills in New Ulm and New Ulm Telecom for 27 years. He retired in December of 1979. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm.
Anna R. Vogl, 98, of Morgan died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan.
Mass of Christian burial is 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday with a 4:30 p.m. CCW rosary, a 6:30 p.m. Catholic Aid rosary, and a 7 p.m. parish prayer service, and continues 8:30-11 a.m. Friday, all at Nelson Funeral Home in Morgan.
She is survived by children and their spouses: Donald and Marilyn Vogl, Frank Vogl, Gerald and Marilyn Vogl, all of Morgan, Delores and Harold Seifert of Minneota, Alice and William Zaske of Maple Lake, Thomas and Carol Vogl of Monticello; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and sister Eleanor Lohaus of Morgan.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1975; one son, one daughter, six brothers, and eight sisters.
She was born Dec. 23, 1901, in Morgan Township, Redwood County, to Frank and Magdalene (Marks) Heiling. She attended St. Michael's Schools. She married Frank Vogl, Sr., on Nov. 22, 1921, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan. They farmed in Morgan Township. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, CCW, CAA. She did mission sewing.
