Rose V. Zupfer, 95, of New Ulm died Friday, January 14, 2000 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 - 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The St. Elizabeth's Catholic Aid Society will lead the Rosary at 5:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service will be 6:30 p.m., both Sunday evening at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
She is survived by her sister, Ella Berdan of New Ulm; sisters -in-law, Ruth Preisinger, Delores Preisinger, Alice Berdan all of New Ulm, Irma Schwantes of Fulda and Marilyn Stelton of Brooklyn Center; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur J. Zupfer; brothers, Raymond and Henry Preisinger; and sisters, Kathryn Rodewald, Emily Klingler, Anne Gruber, and Elsie Gruber.
She was born on June 11, 1904 in Nicollet County, Minnesota to Joseph and Kate (Ries) Preisinger. She attended the District #51 Country School. She married Arthur A. Zupfer on June 10, 1944 at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in New Ulm. After their marriage they lived in Milwaukee, Wis. for over 35 years until Arthur retired and they returned to live in New Ulm in 1972. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and the St. Elizabeth's Catholic Aid Society. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.

Clara M. Cary, of Arlington died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000 at the Glencoe Area Health Center.
Services will be 2 p.m Sunday at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington with burial in the Arlington Public Cemetery.
Visitation is 12:30-2 p.m. Sunday at the church. Fenske Funeral Home in Arlington is handling arrangements.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Steve and Mary Cary of Minnetonka; brother Alvin R, Mueller of New Ulm; sister-in-law Lucille Mueller of Brooklyn Center; three nieces.

Eva Hagquist, 92, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000 at the Samaritan Bethany Heights Nursing Home in Rochester.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church in Hector; burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. to the time of service Saturday. Arrangements have been made with Hughes Funeral Home.
She is survived by her son Donald (Wanda) Hagquist of Rochester; grandson Drew Hagquist of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard and three children Ruth, Nicholas and Carol.
She was born Aug. 24, 1907 at Hector, to Nicholas and Emma Nelson. She married Leonard Hagquist in 1926 and they made their home in Hector their entire married life. Leonard died in 1993 and she moved in with her son in Rochester. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Hector and was active in W.E.L.C.A.

Sister Francis (Catherine) Forster, 83, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000 in Ogden.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ogden.
Visitation will be held at Mount Benedict Monastery in Ogden 4-7 p.m. Sunday. Vigil Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the Monastery Chapel.
Burial will be in Myers Evergreen Memorial Park in Ogden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mount Benedict Monastery building fund. Myers Mortuary in Ogden is handling the arrangements.
She is survived by the sisters of her Benedictine community; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
She was born in New Ulm to Frank and Sophia (Seifert) Forster. She graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1933 and she entered the Scholasticate at St. Benedict's Monastery at St. Joseph. She was received into the novitiate in 1935. She professed vows in 1936 and celebrated her 60th jubilee in 1996. She retired in 1988 in the healthcare field. She began as an X-ray technician at St. Cloud Hospital in 1938 and was made the director of that department until 1943. From 1949-1958 she was administrator of St. Cloud Hospital. In 1958 she came to St. Benedict's Hospital in Ogden and for the next 30 years she served in numerous positions at the hospital. She also served for five years as vice president of Mission Effectiveness. When St. Benedict's Hospital formed its Health System in 1982, she served as a valued trustee. She also served on many other boards and committees in her professional field. In 1980, she also helped the sisters in Utah form a dependant priority. She was elected its first regional superior and re-elected in 1984. In 1983 she received the Distinguished Service to Healthcare Award for 45 years in the healthcare field. In 1986 she was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humanities by Weber State College for her many years of humanitarian service. The Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Award from Pope John Paul II was conferred on her by Bishop William Weigand in 1989.

Jeanette L. Riegel, 88, of Sleepy Eye, formerly of Redwood Falls, died on Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at North Memorial Medical Center, Robbinsdale.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Redwood Falls, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and 8:30-10 a.m. Tuesday, at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin H. Riegel, of Sleepy Eye; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Virginia Riegel, of Lakewood, Colo., and John and Cathie Riegel, of New Ulm; daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Leslie Schrupp, of Sleepy Eye; sisters and brother -in-law, Margaret Cole, Delores Steinkraus, all of Redwood Falls, Marie and John McDonald, of Woodbury; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Kathleen Ruder, of Redwood Falls; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was born Oct. 1, 1911, in Delhi Township, Redwood County, to John and Louise (Fox) Ruder. She grew up and attended school in Delhi Township and graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1929. She married Melvin H. Riegel June 28, 1932 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church. She was employed in the register's office in the Redwood County Courthouse, before she went to work in the business office of Ehler's Department Store. In 1998 she and Melvin moved to Sleepy Eye. She was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church and C.C.W. of St. Catherine's.

Lillian Paul, 93, of Gaylord, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000 at the Glencoe Area Health Center in Glencoe.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gaylord with interment in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Arrangements are with Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord.
She is survived by her sister, Claryce Radloff of Robbinsdale; sister-in-law, Edna Schoberg of Gaylord; brother-in-law, Clarence Paul of Coon Rapids; two nieces, and five nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1967; brothers, Edward, Elliot, Clemens and Harry Schoberg; sisters, Esther Ryden and Gladys Hedine; and two children in infancy.
Lillian Evangeline Paul was born July 1, 1906 in Alfsborg Township, Sibley County to Carl and Mathilda (Johnson) Schoberg. She attended rural public school in Alfsborg Township. She married Wesley C. Paul on April 16, 1932, in Minneapolis, with her uncle, Reverend Gust Schoberg, officiating. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gaylord, serving on Altar Guild and WELCA. She was a janitor for 25 years for the Citizens State Bank in Gaylord. She had been a resident of the Glencoe Long-Term Care Center for the past seven months.

Clara M. Cary, 91, formerly of Arlington, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000 at Glencoe Area Health Center.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington with burial at the Arlington Public Cemetery.
Visitation is 12:30-2 p.m. at the church.

She is survived by a son, Steve and wife Mary Cary of Minnetonka; a brother, Alvin R. Mueller of New Ulm; a sister-in-law, Lucille Mueller of Brooklyn Center; and three nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Gertrude Halbon, Joan, Ellen, Sophia, Regina and Lucille Mueller; and brothers, Edmund, August and John H. Mueller.
Clara was born Sept. 10, 1908 in Arlington Township to Martin A. and Minnie (Bullert) Mueller. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1927 and graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse and worked primarily in the Milwaukee, Wis. and Minneapolis areas.

William 'Bill' Mueller, 98, of Stewart, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Services are 11 a.m. today at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stewart with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation continues one hour prior to Monday's service at the church. Hughes Funeral Homes handled arrangements.
He is survived by sisters, Bernice Eitel of Stewart and Lucille Schueller of Norwood-Young America; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Esther; brothers, Arthur, Tillman, Arnold and Harold; and sisters, Myrtle Mueller and Edna Breuer.
William John Mueller was born June 3, 1901, in Moltke Township, Sibley County, to Charles and Emma (Ruschmeyer) Mueller. He grew up in the Stewart area and attended country school. He married Esther Essie Kahlow Dec. 14, 1929 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake. He farmed in the Stewart area . He entered Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center in April of 1997. He was a life-long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Don M. Cunningham, 55, of Kasota, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2000, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Woodland Hills Funeral Chapel in Mankato. Burial will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home and will continue one hour prior to Tuesday's services.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son, Michael Cunningham and wife Janine of Burnsville; daughter, Michelle Tauer and husband David of New Ulm; adopted daughter, Deb Askildson and husband Clark of Albert Lea; stepson, Brian Wussow and wife Lisa of St. Peter; stepdaughters, Kelly Freeberg of Pine Island, Jody Braam and husband Gene, Jr. of Eagle Lake; two grandchildren, eight step grandchildren; brother, Joel Cunningham and wife Margie of El Paso, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in infancy.
He was born Oct. 27, 1944, in Springfield, to Melvin and Mabel (Wagner) Cunningham. He attended school in Sanborn. He served in the military from 1963-1966. He owned and operated Cunningham Standard Station at Sanborn Corners from 1966-1968. He married Marilyn Barr on Sept. 3, 1982, in Mankato. He worked as a video store manager. The couple moved several times due to his job, finally settling in Kasota.

Robert J. Smith, 54, of Jeffers, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at Avera McKennon Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Baptist Church in Jeffers with burial at Lakeview Cemetery in Windom.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Anderson-Schmidt Funeral Home in Jeffers and will continue from 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the church.

Ida Russell, 97, of Montevideo and formerly of Winthrop, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at Lutheran Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
Memorial services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Montevideo. Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lafayette United Methodist Cemetery. Arrangements are handled by Anderson Funeral HOme, Montevideo.
She is survived by daughters, Ilene Bussler and husband Delfert of Winthrop, Lorna Runck and husband Erv of Lamberton and Elizabeth Russell of Montevideo; grandchildren, Russell Runck, Rochelle Runck, Troy Runck, Barbara Bumgardner, Brian Bussler, Denise Kalenburg and Andrea Thompson; ten great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mabel Stade of Eden Valley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William, May 16, 1978; grandson, Darren Bussler; brothers, Louis, Edwin, Ivan, Carl and Benjamin; and sisters, Lily Fischer and Gladys Schlarb.
Ida Elsie Russell was born Sept. 30, 1902, in Ridgely Township, Nicollet County, to Charles and Ida (Frohrip) Bauermeister. She graduated from Fairfax High School in 1921 and attended Mankato and St. Cloud teachers colleges. She married William Russell on June 4, 1930, at the Methodist parsonage in Marshall. They lived near New Ulm before moving to Winthrop in 1947 and to Montevideo in the late 1970s. She lived at Brookside Manor in Montevideo for 13 years. She had been a resident at Luther Haven Nursing Home the past 4 1/2 years. She was a member of the Sibley County Home Council, a 4-H Leader, Sibley County Extension Homemakers and Brookside Manor Resident Council. She was active at her church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, was a member of UMW, WSCS, Lydia Circle and was an MYF Leader.

William 'Bill' Bruggeman, 78, of Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, in Sleepy Eye.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. today and 7:30-10 a.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Bruggeman of Sleepy Eye; son, Mark and wife Elia Bruggeman of Sleepy Eye; daughter, Lori and husband Mark Dick of Lafayette; six grandchildren, Venessa, Erica, William and Brianna Bruggeman, Anthony and Jenna Dick; brother, Jack and wife Helen Bruggeman of Sleepy Eye; sister, Betty and husband Harold Young of Chaska.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was born Feb. 27, 1921, in Fairfax to Lawrence (L.J.) and Mary Margaret (Huelskamp) Bruggeman. He attended St. Andrew's Catholic Grade School and graduated from Fairfax High School in 1938. He attended Business College in Minneapolis for one year and worked for Deere & Webber Co. in Minneapolis before returning to Sleepy Eye to join the Bruggeman and Schroeder Company in 1945. In 1947, he and his brother Jack purchased the Schroeder interest in the business and it became known as the Bruggeman company. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Sleepy Eye Eagles Club, Chamber of Commerce and was a past board member of St. Mary's Credit Union.
