Verna M. Goblirsch, 69, of Comfrey, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Service s will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Comfrey with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Sturm Funeral Home Chapel in Comfrey. There will be a Christian Mother's Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence of Comfrey; daughters, Vivian and husband Jerome Kostelecky of Little Canada, Shirley and husband Reese Hoelscher of Mankato, Carolyn and husband Joel Darge of St. Peter, Judy and husband Mark Hanson of Hendricks, and Cheryl and husband Scott Gustavson of St. Clair; sons, John and wife Vicki Goblirsch of Fayetteville, N.C., Jeffrey and wife Linda Goblirsch of Walbridge, Ohio, David and wife Michelle Goblirsch of Sleepy Eye, Robert and wife Kathy Goblirsch of Sleepy Eye, Douglass and wife Connie Goblirsch of Ramsey, and Kenneth Goblirsch of Butterfield; a daughter-in-law, Pauline Goblirsch of Sanford, Fla.; 27 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; one great grandchild; one step great grandchild; and a sister, Emily and husband La Vern Tischer of Cambridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Richard Goblirsch in 1997; a grandson, Christopher Goblirsch; a sister, Dorothy; and a brother, Melvin.
Verna was born Jan. 10, 1931 in Mapleton to George and Helen (Hicks) Schull. She graduated from Mapleton High School in 1948 and from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Mankato. Verna became an LPN and worked at St. Joseph's Hospital until marriage. She married Clarence Goblirsch Dec. 2, 1952 in Mankato. They lived and farmed in Mulligan Township. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, a church circle and a former member of a home extension group.

Lorraine Grunzke, 74, of Wells, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St Paul's United Church of Christ in rural Minnesota Lake.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to Wednesday's services at the church.
She is survived by sons, Garry and wife Lorie Grunzke of Lafayette, Douglas and wife Elaine Grunzke of New Richland; brothers, Raymond and wife Vi Klingbeil of Albert Lea, Ralph and wife Eleanor Klingbeil of Albert Lea; sister, Lois Oberg of Montevideo; three sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; grandchildren, Kylie, Kurt and Kellie Grunzke of Lafayette, Joshua, Jennifer and Jessica Grunzke of New Richland; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughters, Miriam in infancy and Linda Parrish in 1982; and son-in-law, Jerral Parrish.
She was born April 17, 1925 in rural Wells to William and Millie (Bebler) Klingbeil. She grew up in Dunbar Township and attended rural schools. She married Clarence Grunzke on Oct. 29, 1946, in Wells at Good Shepard Lutheran Church. She and Clarence farmed in Dunbar Township. They were active in Farmers Union. She was an active member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ.

Agnes Karbo, 91, of Madelia, died Friday at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church in rural Hanska with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to Tuesday's service at the church.
Pease Funeral Home, St. James, handled arrangements.
She is survived by cousins and other relatives in Minnesota, Canada and Norway.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Arven.
Agnes was born March 27, 1908, in Riverdale Township, Watonwan County, to Anton and Mary (Johnson) Karbo. She attended District 29 rural school and was a 1927 graduate of Madelia High School. She lived on the family farm and took care of her mother for many years. She moved to Madelia in 1955. In 1998, she became a resident of the Luther Memorial Home. She was a life-long member of the Lake Hanska Lutheran Church.

Jon Hintze, 55, of Hector, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Hector with burial in the Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hughes Funeral Home in Hector and will continue one hour prior to Wednesday's service at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Hintze of Hector; daughters, Deitra Collins and husband Scott of Apple Valley, Kristin Nabb and husband Dwayne of Fairmont; grandchildren, Kelsey and Taylor Collins, Marissa Naab; brother, Ron Hintze and wife Donna of Fargo, N.D.; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Joan Hintze.
He was born Aug. 23, 1944, in Jamestown, N.D., to Charles and Dorothy (Lehrke) Hintze. He graduated from Jamestown High School and attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, N.D. He married Lorraine M. Toren on Nov. 6, 1965, in Bird Island. The couple made their home in Hector. He was employed by Tiramic Tile Company, Loftness Manufacturing and American Welding Supply Inc. in Willmar. Since 1983, he worked at Falcon Industries in Cosmos until becoming ill. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Hector. Jon was a charter member of the Jaycees. For 27 years, was a member of the Hector Fire Department and the First Responders. He was the fire chief for nine years.

Robert Mikkelson, 78, of Madelia, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Luther Memorial Home.
Services are tentatively set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Visitation is 4:30-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia is handling arrangements.

Marie R. Prokosch, 88, of New Ulm died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Sleepy Eye Care Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm at a later date.
Visitation is 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Cathy Dessert and her husband Bill of Vadnais Heights; grandson, Steve Prokosch and his wife Suzann of Cielo Azul, N.M.; two great-grandchildren, Elliot Dessert and Alexander Dessert of Vadnais Heights; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Ryan Trangsrud, Kyle Trangsrud, and Carly Trangsrud, all of Prior Lake; sisters-in-law, Bernice Trepanier and Eldon Trepanier, both of Maplewood, Frances Earl of Fisher, and Ann Johanson of Bismarck, N.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Peter Prokosch in 1997; son, James Prokosch; six brothers; and two sisters.
She was born Aug. 16, 1911, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to Frank and Laura (LaCroix) Trepanier. She married Peter Prokosch on August 12, 1930 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. They lived in New Ulm and raised mink together. They moved to rural Hanska in 1947 and continued to raise mink until 1975 when they retired and moved into New Ulm. After Peter died in 1997, she moved to the Countryside Apartments in Sleepy Eye and later to the Sleepy Eye Care Center.

Robert Mikkelson, 78, of Madelia, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Luther Memorial Home, Madelia.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Madelia, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church Wednesday.
He is survived by his wife, Ardis; daughter, Linda and husband Gerald Trullinger of Redwood Falls; sons, Larry and wife Ruth of Hanska, and Lance and wife Pam of St. James; six grandchildren; sisters, Marion Tande of Madison, Wis., Glenda and husband Woodrow Haseman of Minnetonka, Carol and husband Lowell Todnem of St. James; brother, Art of Hanska; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
He was born Nov. 1, 1921, in Linden Township, Brown County, to Mikal and Amanda (Anderson) Mikkelson. He attended District 38 school in Brown County. He married Ardis Pierson on May 23, 1947, at the Lake Hanska Lutheran parsonage. They farmed in Linden Township until 1951, when they moved southeast of Madelia. In 1954, they moved to a farm near LaSalle, where they lived until 1983, when they moved into Madelia.

Caroline J. Mehlhop, 79, of Green Isle, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000 at Gaylord Lakeview Nursing Home.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Green Isle, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8:30 p.m. Wednesday and noon-1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Fenske Funeral Home, Arlington, is in charge of arrangements.

Lenore Thompson, 88, of Madelia, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at Luther Memorial Home, Madelia.
Services are tentatively set for 11 a.m. Friday at Pilgrim Funeral Home, with visitation one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Annie M. Rothmeier, 95, of Clements, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Springfield Medical Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Clements, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield, and will continue 8:30-10 a.m. Thursday at the church. There will be a parish prayer service 7 p.m. Wednesday and a CCW rosary 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
She is survived by sons, Joseph and wife JoAnn of Clements, and James of Robbinsdale; grandchildren, Christine and husband Rick Schmoll, Tom, Jason, Jeffrey and Alice Rothmeier and Kathleen and Marc Johnson; and great-grandchildren Brittany and Brady Schmoll.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary; husband, Joseph; sons, Clarence, Reinhold and Leonard; brother John; and sisters, Minnie, Veronica and Marie.
She was born Sept. 28, 1904, in Eden Township, Brown County, to John and Mary (Moldan) Boettger. She lived with her family in Albin Township on a farm and attended District 28 country school. She married Joseph H. Rothmeier on May 1, 1928, in Sleepy Eye. They farmed northwest of Clements in Three Lakes Township. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Clements. She was an honorary member of St. Joseph's Council of Catholic Women and Christian Mothers.

Arthur E. Olson, 69, of 7 S. Payne St., New Ulm, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at his home.
Memorial service is 1:30 p.m. Sunday at United Church of Christ, New Ulm with burial in the City Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm veterans organizations.
A one-hour fellowship time will precede the service, with a luncheon following, both at the church.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by his wife, Ellen Kruschke-Olson of New Ulm; son, Daniel Olson of Eden Prairie; and brother, Donald Olson and his wife Patricia of Crescent City, Calif.; mother-in-law, Myra Kruschke of Benson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant children, Deborah Ellen Olson in 1956 and David Armie Olson in 1958.
He was born Oct. 4, 1930, in Northwood, N.D., to Deorge and Inga (Ellertson) Olson. He attended country school in Niagara, N.D. His family moved to western North Dakota when he was in elementary school. He served in the United Stated Army from 1950-1953, spending two years in Germany. He was a Staff Sergeant in the 28th Infantry Division Motor Pool. He married Ellen-Jane Kruschke on Sept. 19, 1954, in Ortonville. They lived in Illinois, Iowa and Minnesota. In 1958, they moved to Benson, where he owned and operated a service station and later sold bulk milk tanks. In 1967, he joined the Five Star Dairyland Cooperative, which later became a part of Associated Milk Producers, Inc. In 1969, the family moved to Granite Falls, where he was employed as the regional field representative and later assistant divisional manager in the Clarkfield Division of AMPI. In 1981 they moved to New Ulm where he helped build AMPI, the largest dairy cooperative in the Upper Midwest. He retired in 1995 as the Director of Procurement after 28 years with AMPI. He served as president of the Dairy Advisory Board for the Insurance Center in Onalaska, Wis., since its inception more than five years ago. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in New Ulm, where he served as president of the church council. He was also a member of the Association and Conference Councils of the United Church of Christ. He belonged to the American Legion Post 132 in New Ulm.
Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association, or the Brown County Humane Society.
