Orin Ericson, 83, of Cottonwood, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at the Granite Falls Hospital, Granite Falls.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today and will continue Sunday one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a prayer service today at 7 p.m. at the church. The Sunset Funeral Home of Echo is handling the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife Mildred; a daughter, Marlys and husband Cliff Sorensen of Sleepy Eye; sons, Gordon and wife Nancy Ericson of Inver Grove Heights and George of Cottonwood; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; a sister Ethel Klima of Hutchinson and a brother, Jewel Ericson of Shakopee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Glen Ericson.
He was born Feb. 4, 1917 to Oscar and Minnie (Finbraaten) Ericson near Echo. He attended Echo Public School until his family moved to Alberta in 1929. He attended Alberta Public School and the Agricultural School in Morris.
In 1936 his family moved to a farm near Cottonwood. In April 1941, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and was sent to Camp Claiborne, La. and assigned to Battery B, 151st Field Artillery, 34th Red Dog Division. He was with the first American Troops to be sent overseas in WWII arriving in Ireland in January 1942. In February 1943 he went into battle in Northern Africa, then through the Italian campaigns until the close of the war and he received his honorable discharge in August 1945.
He married Mildred Isaackson on Sept. 8, 1945 in Silo Lutheran Church and by the rite of confirmation he became a member of the Silo Lutheran Church in 1946.
The couple farmed in Lucas Township until they retired in 1982 and moved into their home in Cottonwood. He served as a township ASC Committee Chairman and on the Cottonwood Public School board. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood and served as deacon in the Christ Lutheran Church. He also belonged to the V.F.W. Mongeau-Tholen Post No. 742 of Marshall and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Post in Granite Falls. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 503 in Cottonwood and was a member of the Last Man's Club of the 34th Red Dog Division. He entered the Clarkfield Care Center in October 1999.

Florence Hengel, 94, of Arvada, Colo., formerly of Wabasso, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, in Arvada.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wabasso, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and 8:30 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church.
Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, is in charge of the arrangements.

Charles Kelly, 84, of Wabasso, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000 at his home.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wabasso, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the church. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
Kulow Funeral Service, Echo, is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife Ann; sons and daughters-in-law, Patrickm Kelly, of Minneapolis, Dennis and Kathy Kelly, of Minneapolis, and Mickey Kelly and Colette Cornish of St. Paul; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Dennis McChesney of Marshall, Nancy Zerr of Maple Grove, and Sharon and Rick Freed of Plymouth; six grandchildren; and sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Lawrence Brown, of Golden Valley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Frank; and sister Marjorie.
He was born May 6, 1915 in Minneapolis to Frank and Ione (Yerxa) Kelly. He graduated from North High School, Minneapolis, and attended the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He married Ann Damiata on July 27, 1944, in Connecticut. They lived in Minneapolis, where he worked as a pharmacist. They later moved to Green Isle, then Wabasso. He owned and operated Kelly Drug, Wabasso, until retiring in 1989. He was a former member of the Marshall Golf Club, Wabasso Lions, Wabasso American Legion and St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wabasso. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, belonged to a pharmacy fraternity, served on the Wabasso City Council and on the building committee of the Wabasso Nursing Home.

Dorothy L. Holles, 88, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Raph-ael's Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-10 a.m. Tuesday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and a St. Anne's CCW Rosary at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
She is survived by her son David and Nancy Holles of Springfield; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother Waldo and Frances Bennier of Prescott, Ariz.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Matthew in 1965; brothers Joseph and Alphonse and sister Martha Mullen.
She was born July 7, 1911 in Granville, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Elizabeth (Galles) Bennier. She married Matthew A. Holles on May 24, 1938 in Granville, Iowa. They moved to North Star Township in 1951 where they lived and farmed until Matthew died in 1965. She moved to Springfield later that year and worked as a nurses aid at the St. John Lutheran Home. She was a member of the St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield and the St. Anne's C.C.W. She moved to the St. John Lutheran Home in September of 1997.

Lydia Mae Engelking, 92, died at the Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital on Friday, Feb. 11, 2000.
Services will be 9 a.m. Monday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye with burial in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today and 7:30-9 a.m. Monday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
She is survived by her niece Oradell Fischer of Sleepy Eye; two great-nephews; one great-niece and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence on Dec. 17, 1968; brothers Walter, Ora, Lowell, Leander, Harold, Norbert and nephew Robert 'Pork' Fischer.
She was born on Nov. 6, 1907 to William and Anna (Allen) Haenze, in West Newton Township, Brown County. She moved with her family to the Cobden area and attended country school. Lydia was the oldest child and helped raise her brothers when her mother died.
On Nov. 25, 1926 she married Clarence Engelking at Faith United Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye. The made their home in Sleepy Eye where they continued to raise her siblings. They also took care of their niece Oradell Engelking from the age of six. Lydia also worked at Del Monte during the summertime and helped her husband occasionally at his business, Engelking Brother's Paint Shop. She was a resident at Ross Park apartments for several years. She was a member of Faith United Methodists Church and was active with the United Methodist Women.

Edgar Krohn, 81, of Granby Township, Nicollet County, rural Nicollet died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at Grandview Care Center in St. Peter. He had cancer for the past three years.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with burial in the church Cemetery, rural Nicollet.
Visitation is 4 - 8 p.m. today at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and will continue one hour before services Tuesday at the church.
He is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Eldor and Linda Krohn of Nicollet; sister-in-law, Lorraine Krohn of New Ulm; special friend, Eleanore Prust of North Mankato; nieces Anita Dunker of Nicollet, Linda Buskovick of New Ulm, and Sandra Berberich of Sleepy Eye; nephews, Marvin Krohn of Nicollet, Michael Krohn of Vail, Colo. and Roger Krohn of Cottonwood, Ariz; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Elmo Krohn; niece, Ingrid Rice; and a great-niece Renee Rice.
He was born Nov. 1, 1918, in Granby Township, Nicollet County, to Louis and Minnie (Wilking) Krohn. He attended District 39 Country School in Granby Township, Nicollet County. He farmed the family farm in Granby Township, Nicollet County, until 1969. He then worked for Hiniker Company in Mankato for five years. He was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet or American Cancer Society.

Helen Carrigan, 93, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake and will continue one hour prior to services.
Arrangements have been made with Hughes Funeral Home.
She is survived by her sister, Aline Bjornrud of Colorado Springs and by nieces and nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dewey; brother Evon Tronerud; and nephew Stephen Tronerud.
She was born on Sept. 21, 1906, to Ole and Elise (Roren) Tronerud. She graduated from Fosston High School in 1925. She graduated from a two-year program at Bemidji State Teachers College in November 1928. She taught for 35 years including tenures at Hanson Lake School, District No. 1, and Effie.
She married Dewey John Carrigan on June 7, 1933 at Grand Forks, N.D. They farmed and also worked in road construction for Hector Construction and for Zanske Construction. She substitute taught for two years after retirement. In 1974 they retired in Buffalo Lake. Dewey died on Sept. 3, 1991. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran Church Women. She belonged to the Sons of Norway and Boon Lake Ladies Aid.

David Besemer, 58, of Route 1, New Ulm, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at New Ulm Medical Center of an apparent heart attack.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at United Church of Christ in New Ulm with burial in the City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to Wednesday's services at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon of rural New Ulm; daughters, Heidi Halvorson and her special friend Mark Stueber, Lisa Haala and her special friend Kevin Portner, and Laura Reinarts and husband Andrew, all of New Ulm; grandchildren, Jenna, Amber, Brittany, Tyler, Cole and Preston, all of New Ulm; sister, Connie Gierke and special friend Bob Ibberson of New Ulm; brother, Dayle Besemer and special friend Jeanette Carson of New Ulm; aunts and uncles,; father and mother-in-law, Norman and Helen Brust of New Ulm; and nieces and cousins.
He was born Aug. 28, 1941, in New Ulm to Melvin and Iola (Schultz) Besemer. He attended rural schools in Districts 50 and 9. He was a 1959 graduate of New Ulm High School. He married Sharon Brust on Jan. 24, 1962 at the Freidens Church in New Ulm. They lived in Milford Township, Brown County. He owned a backhoe business and worked at the Brown County Sanitary Landfill. He also manufactured and sold Sugar Shanty maple syrup.

Ethel Mae Bausch, 89, of Springfield, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, in Springfield.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, Iowa.
Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers.
Ethel is survived by her son, Russell Bausch and wife Anne of Waterbury, Neb.; daughter, Virginia McCone and husband Stan of Sanborn; brother, Howard Brompton of La Junta, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Mabel and Edith; and a granddaughter, Lisa Marie Bausch.
She was born Nov. 5, 1910, in Lake Villa, Ill., to Thomas and Jessie Mae (Pitman) Brompton. She lived in Burlington, Wis. from 1952-1964; Sergeant Bluff, Iowa from 1964-1974; Waterbury, Neb. from 1974-1989; La Junta, Colo.; Sanborn from 1993-1995; and then in Springfield. She was of the Baptist faith. She married Archie Peter Bausch on Feb. 10, 1942, in Antioch, Ill.

Donald Krebs, 80, of Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-9 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye; and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Verena "Dottie" Krebs of Sleepy Eye; son, Ronald W. Krebs of Minneapolis; daughters, Aleda and husband David Beranek of New Ulm, Colleen and husband Steve Zeig of New Ulm; grandchildren, Bradley Beranek, Andy Beranek, Angie Beranek, Amanda Beranek and Kyle Krebs; sisters, Elenore Thuer, Lucille Hansen, and Oradell and husband Orville Fischer, all of Sleepy Eye; sisters-in-law, Fronie Krebs of New Ulm, Lorraine Haecherl and LaMonte and Elaine Helget, all of Sleepy Eye, Marion and Val Rathman and Ivona and Edwin Windschitl, all of Comfrey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Elmer and sister, Edna in infancy.
He was born April 17, 1919, to Herman and Bertha (Arndt) Krebs in Shakopee. He attended school in Springfield. He married Verena "Dottie" Helget on Aug. 19, 1946 in Sleepy Eye. The couple farmed for 35 years in Leavenworth Township. They moved to Sleepy Eye in 1982. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye.

Amos F. Ott, 82, of Lafayette died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at the V.A. Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is one hour before the service Thursday at the church. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his sister, Joyce Chuckel and her husband John of West St. Paul; sister-in-law, Marjorie Ott of Arlington; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Ott; and sister, Dorothy Penkert.
He was born July 14, 1917, in Gaylord to Robert and Josephine (Walter) Ott. He worked for Joe Mueller on his farm for nine years. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. After military service, he worked on the farm for Joe Franta until 1962. He later worked for the lumber company in Lafayette and did carpentry work. He was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette and also of the Rock, Gem, and Mineral Club of Minnesota.
