Walter Eckstein, 71, of Amarillo, Texas, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Feb. 26, 2000, at home in Amarillo.
Services are being held in Amarillo, with military honors conducted at the burial in Amarillo.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Oblinger of Amarillo; grandchildren; sisters, Agnes and husband Ervin Tauer of New Ulm; Emma and husband Casey Konz of New Ulm; brother, George and wife JoAnn Eckstein of Sleepy Eye, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Juanita; sisters, Rose Ziegler, Mary Roberts, Adeline Walters and Irene Sellner, and brothers, Albert, Wendy, Joseph Jr., Ervin, and a brother in infancy.
He was born April 23, 1928, in Sleepy Eye to Joseph (Sr.) and Emma (Neidecker) Eckstein. He married Juanita Whitlow in 1954. He served 22 years in the U.S. Navy and was stationed are Alaska, Korea, Japan, the Panama Canal, the Philippines, Hawaii, and other countries. After leaving the service he lived in Hutchinson, Kansas. After his wife's death he moved to Amarillo.

Maynard B. Matzke, 72, of Lamberton, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000 in Minneapolis.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, Lamberton, with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-9 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home, Lamberton, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughters, Patti and husband Glen Mathiason of Walnut Grove, and Beth and husband Trace Ragland of Woodstock, Ga.; sons, Greg and wife Carrie of Woodbury, Michael and wife Caroline of Maple Grove, and Brian and wife Pam of Redwood Falls; 11 grandchildren; sister, Donna Rupp of Westbrook; brother, Merle and wife Shirley of Apache Junction, Ariz.; and stepmother Mary of Yakima, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Dean Collins; and brothers-in-law, Arnold Sandmann and Kenneth Rupp.
He was born April 27, 1927, in Germantown Township, Cottonwood County, to Bernhard and Luella (Kissner) Matzke. He attended Dist. 3 rural school and Lamberton High School. He farmed with his father in Highwater Township, and drove truck for Theis Livestock. He married Virginia Kersten on Aug. 15, 1950, in Springfield. They farmed in Germantown Township until 1985 when they moved to Lamberton. He was a former member of Germantown Evangelical Church and served on the church board. He was a former president of the Farmers Co-op Oil Association in Jeffers and served on its board. He was former president and board member of Lamberton-Wabasso Elevator. He was a 4-H leader. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Lamberton. He worked with the Farmers Livestock Company and the Meadowland Cooperative.

Edna Palmer, 92, of Winthrop, died Sunday, Feb, 27, 2000 at Winthrop Good Samaritan Center.
Services are 11 a.m., Thursday, at Bernadotte Lutheran Church, Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church Thursday.
Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop, is handling arrangements.
She is survived by her brother Abdon Lager and wife Maude of Winthrop; sisters-in-law, Marion Lager of Winthrop and Gertrude Lager of Roseville; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Linton; sister, Agnett Anderson; and brothers, Chester and Allen Lager.
She was born May 15, 1907, in Alfsboro Township, Sibley County, to August and Emma (Bergren) Lager. She married Linton E. Palmer on Dec. 10, 1939, on the family farm They farmed near Bernadotte. After Linton's death in 1965, she moved to Winthrop. She worked at Lyle's Cafe and Hands, Inc., Winthrop. She moved to the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center in April 1990. She was a member of Bernadotte Lutheran Church, where she sang in the church choir and served with the Ladies' Aid. She held offices in the Order of the Eastern Star.

Cecilia Speiser, 90, of Clara City, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Clara City Care Center.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at St. Clara Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation starts 4 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Wing Bain Funeral Home in Clara City, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday,
She is survived by daughters Elizabeth, Mary Sparks and Joan of Clara City; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul, James and Peggy, John and Dawn, all of Clara City;, eight grandchildren; three great-grandsons; sisters, Annella Rhode of Rochester, Mathilda Rhode of New Ulm; and sister-in-law Katherine Rhode of Rapid City S.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents,, her husband in 1995, three infant sons, and son-in-law Robert Sparks.
She was born Feb. 1, 1910, in Stoneham Township, Chippewa County, to Albert and Anna (Kramer) Rhode. She attended St. Clara's Catholic School in Clara City. She married Theodore R. Speiser on Jan. 26, 1932, at St. Clara's Catholic Church in Clara City. She became a resident of Clara City Care Center in 1993. She was a. member of St. Clara's Catholic Church and the CCW.

Lorraine Helget, 48, of Redwood Falls, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Redwood Falls Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Redwood Falls, with burial in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, Morgan.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and will continue 8:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
She is survived by special friend, Don Welsch of Redwood Falls; brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Ott and husband Willie of Shakopee, Theresa Hanson and husband Peter of Northfield Falls, Vt., George Helget and wife Anita of Mound, and Alice Drew and husband Al of Crookston; 12 nephews; five nieces; three great-nieces; and four great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bob and Frank; and sister Mary Ann.
She was born July 4, 1951, to Roland and Lucille (Petsinger) Helget. She lived with her family on a farm near Morgan. She attended Morgan and Wabasso schools prior to graduating from Springfield High School in 1969. She lived in Redwood Falls. She worked at Service Industries and Pizza Hut. She has lived at Wood Dale Nursing Home since Jan. 1998.

Gary Telthoester, 54, of Gaylord, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at home.
Services are 3 p.m. today at Egesdal Funeral Home, Gaylord, with burial in the Gaylord Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation is 1-3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He is survived by his daughter, Denise Hanes of Lester Prairie; sons, Scott and wife Shar of Glencoe, and Steven of Millsboro, Del.; brothers, Reuben and wife Marilyn of Arlington, Lester of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc., and Aberhardt and wife Abbie of Ohio; half-brother Lorn and wife Sandy Herrmann of Belle Plaine; sisters, Val and husband Richard Hebeisen of Mankato, and Roxann Rauschendorfer of Mankato and fiance Gerald Wels of Nicollet; nine grandchildren; and step-sister Arlene Hanson of Colorado Springs, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Edwin; sister Karen Lou; step-brothers LeRoy and Ralph Herrmann; and step-father Lawrence Herrmann.
He was born Nov. 26, 1945, in Assumption, to Edwin and Lorena (Schmidt) Telthoester. He attended Green Isle Public School. He worked as a welder on general labor jobs in Arizona and Minnesota. He lived in Shakopee prior to moving to Gaylord in 1996.

Reider Gasman, 88, of Redwood Falls, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Redwood Falls Hospital.
Services are 3 p.m. Friday at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today and 1 p.m. until time of the service Friday at the funeral home.

Martha Vonderharr, 83, of Madison died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000 at the Madison Lutheran Home in Madison.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of St. Michael in Madison with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is this afternoon and evening at the Zahrbock Funeral Home in Madison. There will be a rosary at 3 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m., both today at the funeral home. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of local arrangements and notifications.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, James and Kathryn Vonderharr of St. Paul, Edwin and Sue Vonderharr, and Stanley Vonderharr all of rural Madison, Kenneth and Mary Vonderharr of Courtland; grandsons, Matt Vonderharr of Willmar, Mark Vonderharr, a student teacher in Austrailia, Mike Vonderharr of Maplewood, and Nate Vonderharr of Courtland. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Vonderharr on May 22, 1995; a granddaughter, Kathi Vonderharr; and ten brothers and sisters.
She was born Nov. 27, 1916 in Hamlin Township, Lac Qui Parle County to Martin and Mary (Peutz) Bauler. She received her elementary education in the Madison area and continued her high school education at St. Michaels Newman Hall. She graduated from high school at Good Council School in Mankato. She married William Vonderharr on Nov. 10, 1937 at the Church of St. Michael in Madison. After marriage they farmed until 1984 when they moved into Madison. She volunteered her time for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile. She became a resident of the Lutheran Home in Madison on Dec. 20, 1999. She was a member of the Church of St. Michael in Madison and was very active in the church.

Roman 'Zeam' Jenniges, 77, died Friday, March 3, 2000 at the Wabasso Health Care Center in Wabasso.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and 8-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda. There will be a combined Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters and Parish Prayer Service on 7 p.m. Monday, also at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton.
He is survived by his wife, Lorena of Wanda; sons, Joe and wife Marie Jenniges of Redwood Falls, Peter and wife Barb Jenniges of Renville, Kurt and wife JoAnn Jenniges of Wabasso and Terry and wife Becky Jenniges of Wabasso; daughters, Vonny Baune of Eden Prairie, Karen and husband Curt Mathiowetz of Wabasso, and Lisa and husband Gary Schunk of Vesta; 24 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Anna Evans of Redwood Falls, Trudy Struckmann of Minneapolis; and a brother Cyril and wife Phyllis Jenniges of Wabasso.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cheryl in 1980; a son, Michael in 1964; sisters, Marcella Altermatt, Mathilda Evans, Marian Jenniges and a baby sister in infancy; and brothers Aloysius, Edmund, Mathias, Leonard and Gilbert.
He was born July 29, 1922 in Willow Lake Township, Redwood County to Mathias and Anna (Turbes) Jenniges. He attended public school until the eighth grade and then was with the U.S. Army in Japan during 1945 and 1946.
He married Lorena Bierl at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda. He worked at Zielske Lumber Company in Wanda for a number of years, then purchased Standard Oil Bulk Delivery Service and operated it for a number of years. Later he drove a Hi-Boy for spraying, and throughout his life he carpentered until he was injured in a fall in June 1978.
He was a lifetime member of St. Mathias church in Wanda, a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Catholic Order of Foresters, was a charter member of the Wanda American Legion Post #385 for 45 years and served as a Wanda fireman for many years.

Irene M. Leshovsky, 89, of Fargo, N.D., formerly of Barney, N.D., died Friday,
March 3, 2000 at the home of her granddaughter, Mary Ludewig of rural New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 10:30 am Tuesday at the Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton, North Dakota with burial in the Fairview Memorial Gardens in Wahpeton, N.D.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton, North Dakota. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of local arrangements and notifications.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Rita Leshovsky of Fargo, and Lyle and Margaret Leshovsky of Maple Grove; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Robert House of Rothsay; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Haxel Lambert of Breckenridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin Leshovsky in 1989; a granddaughter, Krisi Jo House in 1989; brothers, Donald, Harold, Charles, Kenneth and Lester Lambert; sister, Margaret Czichotzki; and a half-sister, Kathryn Larsen.
She was born April 28, 1910 in Breckenridge to Charles and Mary (Kluckey) Lambert. She attended school in Breckenridge, MN. She married Alvin H. Leshovsky on Sept. 17, 1935 in Breckenridge. After their marriage they farmed in the Tyler-Wahpeton area until 1956 when they started the Al's Tavern and Cafe in Barney. They retired in June of 1989. They then moved to Fargo, where Irene has since resided. She was a charter member of the Wahpeton Eagles, serving as past president.

Dorothy Dorothy, 83, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at Madelia Community Hospital.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Madelia Church of Christ with burial in the Riverside Cemetery, Madelia.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia and also one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon; daughters Karen and John Rusten of Glencoe, Kathleen and Robert Row of Bedford, Ind., Denise and Brad Kuebler of St. James; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Mavis Johnson in Missouri; and a sister-in-law, Jean Clarke of Kirkland, Wash.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, three brothers and one sister.
She was born on Dec. 16, 1916, to Adam and Florence (Burrill) Clarke in Plymouth County, Iowa. She grew up first in LeMars, Iowa and in rural Truman. She married Gordon Dorothy on Sept. 30, 1938 in Estherville, Iowa. They farmed in rural Madelia for three years, rural Truman until 1946 and then returned to rural Madelia. They retired into town in 1981. She was a member of the Madelia Church of Christ, Ladies Council and Sunday School teacher. She belonged to the Madelia Hospital Auxiliary and Fieldon Ladies Group.

Dennis Salfer, 56, of Wabasso, died Sunday, March 3, 2000, at Methodist Hospital, St. Louis Park.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wabasso, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Wabasso, and continues one hour before services Wednesday.
Kulow Funeral Service of Echo is in charge of arrangements.
