Donald Braun, 60, of Buffalo Lake, died Monday, March 20, 2000 at Hutchinson Area Health Care.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Buffalo Lake, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the church and will continue one hour prior to services at the church Friday.
Raymond D. Hughes Funeral Home, Hector, is handling arrangements.
He is survived by his wife Betty; daughters, Michele Meyers of St. Cloud, Vicky and husband Steve Novotny of Bird Island, Kelly and husband David Wolter of Glencoe, and Melissa and husband David Kurr of Sauk Rapids; son Darren of Waite Park; sisters, Grace and husband Ken Lackmann of Atwater, Doris and husband Murl Kletscher of Lester Prairie, and Phyllis and husband Terry Ernst of Lester Prairie; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law Tim Byron; niece Lisa Case; brother-in-law Dale Doering; and aunts and uncles.
He was born July 26, 1939 in Preston Lake Township, Renville County, to Alfred and Cora Hoecke Braun. He attended rural District 57 schools and Buffalo Lake High School, where he graduated in 1957. He was active in basketball and football. He enlisted in the National Guard in Olivia in December 1957. He was on duty in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. until his discharge in 1965. He married Betty Ackerman on April 19, 1969 in Mayhew Lake. They lived in Hutchinson for 12 years before moving to Brownton, where they lived until 1990, when they moved to Buffalo Lake and built a house on his parent's farmstead. He worked at the hardware store in Hector and at 3M, until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran Church. He served on the Stewardship Committee, Ushering Committee, Greeting Committee, and the Cemetery Board.

Melvin T. Oswald, 71, of Madelia, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000 at Madelia Community Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Madelia, with burial in Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church Friday.
He is survived by his wife Donna; daughters, Rhonda Hoeper and husband Norman of Nelson, LuAnn Seal of Savage, Shirley Sowers and special friend Daryl Gersch of Burnsville, Lisa Grove and husband Kelly of St. James and Terri Nelson and husband Scott of Madelia; sons Richard and wife Ingrid of Lake Crystal, Roger of Burnsville, Rodney and wife ShoShonna of Lake Crystal, Wayne and wife Marlyse of Blue earth, and David of Richmond; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Edwin of Gaylord, Dale and wife Arleen of New Ulm, and Lester and wife Corrine of Lafayette; and special family friend Carol Visher of Madelia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Eugene; and brother-in-law Ray Stippel.
He was born Sept. 19, 1928 in New Ulm, to Alvin and Marie (Martens) Oswald. He grew up in New Ulm and Lafayette and attended rural schools. He married Donna Stippel on June 6, 1951 in New Brighton Township. They lived in North Dakota from 1951 until 1958, where he worked in construction. In 1958 they moved to New Ulm, where he worked as a mechanic. In 1970, they moved to Madelia. He worked for Forstner Fire Apparatus, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, madelia, and the Eagles Club, Mankato.

Elaine Ladd, 75, of Sleepy Eye, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000 at Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church Saturday.
She is survived by son Alan and wife Cathy of Stevens Point, Wisc.; daughter Colleen and husband Richard Kokkila of Willmar; four grandchildren; sister Carrie Schenk of Sleepy Eye; and brother Victor and wife Dorothy Christensen of Sleepy Eye.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Francile; husband Raymond; and brother Jens.
She was born Dec. 25, 1924 in Eden Township, Brown County, to Martin and Marie (Petersen) Christensen. She attended country school and Sleepy Eye Public High School. She married Raymond Ladd on Oct. 23, 1942 in Redwood Falls. They farmed in Leavenworth Township. She worked at 3M and Del Monte and was active in the 4-H. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid.

Carl Kahnke, 86, of Hector, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000 at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center, St. Cloud.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church, Hector, with burial in Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery, Little Falls.
Visitation is 9 a.m. until time of the service Saturday at the church.
Raymond Hughes Funeral Home, Hector, is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife Lillian; daughters, Rose Mary Blessing and husband Mike of Staples, Clara Zeller and husband Gerald of Clara City, Mary Karg and husband Brad of Glencoe, and Susan Baker and husband Bob of Ogema; seven grandchildren; brother Ambrose and wife Jean of Courtland; sisters, Rita Rejsck and husband Jim of Redwood Falls, and Clara Dolan and husband Jack of Minnetonka; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rose Modery, Florence Kodet and Bernadine Kodet; and brothers Anton and Leo.
He was born Feb. 21, 1914 in Callaway Township, Becker County, to Ambrose and Clara (Mertens) Kahnke. He grew up in the White Earth area, where he attended rural school. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II under General Bradley in the American Theater and the European African Middle East Theater. He married Lillian Margaret Stancer on Sept. 16, 1941 in Redwood Falls. they lived and farmed at Ogema, then later moved to Hector. He managed the American Legion in Hector. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, and the Fairfax V.F.W.

Dean Thorson, 67, of Cambria, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at home.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Cambria Presbyterian Church, with burial in the Cambria Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Cambria American Legion and New Ulm Veterans Organizations.
Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Firle Funeral Home, New Ulm, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church Monday.

David Towers, 49, of Shakopee, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000 at home.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Shakopee. with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Cavanaugh-McNearney Funeral Home, Shakopee, with prayer service at 7 p.m.
Memorials preferred to the donor's choice.
He is survived by his wife Michelle; son Travis; mother Alice Melk of Wisconsin; brother Gilbert and wife Bonnie of Menomonee Falls, Wisc.; sisters, Grace Michalski of Colgate, Wisc., Vera Rettmann and husband Lawrence of Winthrop; sisters-in-law Karen Koehnen and husband James of Chaska, and Terrie Vos and husband Scott of Farmington; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; very special aunt and uncle Harold and Esther Kuehn; brother-in-law Ron Michalski; two nieces; and Arlen Kuehn.
He was born Aug. 16, 1950 in Milwaukee, Wisc., to Gilbert and Alice (Rosenback) Towers. He married Michelle M. Grommesch on Aug. 21, 1982 in Shakopee. He served in the United States Marine Corps and the Marine Corps Reserves. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion, Shakopee. He worked for Eaton Corporation.

Linus F. Salfer, 67, of Wabasso, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 27, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Wabasso, with burial in St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the St. Anne's Catholic Church in Wabasso and one hour prior to services at the church. There win be a parish prayer service at 6:45 p.m. Sunday at the church. Sunset Funeral Home of Wabasso is handling the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife Charlotte, step-children Doug Salfer and wife Karen of Dayton, Karen Liebl and husband Gary of Watertown, S.D., Phyllis McKinney of South Bend, Ind., James Salfer of Wabasso, Jean Salfer of St. Cloud, John Salfer and wife Barb of Champlain, JoAnn Jenniges and husband Kurt of Wabasso, and Michelle Marti of Northfield; 20 grandchildren, a great grandson, two sisters, Sally Swoboda and husband Don Lausen of Montevideo, and Sister Inez Marie Salfer of Washington, D.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Stanley, and sister, Leona Hertling.
Linus Francis Salfer was born May 18, 1932 to Joseph and Clara (Pelzel) Salfer in New Avon Township, Redwood County. He grew up on the family farm and in Wabasso where his family moved when he was in high school. He served in the U. S. Army from November 1952 until November 1954. Linus farmed until 1979, worked for Cletus Trost building cabinets until 1982, and also worked for Garnet Zieske. He also worked as a part time mail carrier and at the Salfer Foods in Wabasso. He married Charlotte Becker on Dec. 13, 1980 at St. Anne's Catholic Church. He was a lifelong member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Victor Hirsch American Legion Post.

Dean Thorson, 67, of Cambria, died Thursday, March 23, 2000 at home.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Cambria Presbyterian Church, with burial in the city cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Cambria American Legion and New Ulm Veteran's Organizations.
Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Firle Funeral Home, New Ulm, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church Monday.
He is survived by his wife Betty; sons, Dale and wife Stacy of Mankato, Mitchell and wife Kelly of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Dan and wife Terry of Cambria, Gary and wife Cheryl of Lake Crystal, Tom and wife Anne of Benton Harbor, Mich., and Wayne and wife Brenda of Cambria; daughters, Chris Thomas and fiance Tim Brown of St. Peter, and Melinda and fiance Mark Jones of Fridley; 18 grandchildren; brothers, Robert and wife Erna of Eagle Bend, and John and wife Marlys of Clear Lake; sister Patricia Bode and husband Wallace of Courtland; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Orland.
He was born March 5, 1933 to Leonard and Clara (Mennenga) Thorson. He attended school in Lake Crystal area and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1952. He served in the Army during the Korean War. he married Betty Evans on June 21, 1951 in Courtland. He worked with the Minnesota Department of Transportation for many years. he served as the Constable of Cambria Township for 19 years. He served on the Cambria Town Board. He was a member of Cambria American Legion, the New Ulm VFW and Cambria Presbyterian Church.

Grace Brandt, 78, of rural Gaylord, died on Thursday, March 23, 2000, at the Arlington Municipal Hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m., Monday, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gaylord, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at Egesdahl Funeral Home in Gaylord, and at the church Monday, one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by her husband, Donald of Gaylord; daughter Nancy and Lynn Prell of Claremont; and three step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Elmer and first husband, Ralph Reetz.
She was born May 17, 1921 in Waterville and William and Agnes (Nieranz) Geyer. She worked attended Waterville Public School. She married Donald H. Brandt on July 12, 1969 in Rochester. They owned and operated the Watertown Cafe from 1969 to 1971, the Gambles Hardware Store in Gibbon from 1971 to 1978, and the Trustworthy Hardware Store in Gaylord since 1978. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord.

Leona Menk, 83, of Mankato, died Thursday, March 23, 2000 at the Mankato Lutheran Home in Mankato.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato with burial in the Mount Olivet Cemetery in Mankato.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Mankato Lutheran Home Chapel in Mankato and one hour prior to services at the church.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Harvey Menk of Mankato; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Janet Menk of Bloomington, and Harlen and Georgia Menk of Ellsworth, Wis.; five grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Orville Tonn of St. Paul; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Runkle, Edna Swenson, Margaret Menk, Lois Menk all of St. Peter, and Hope Menk of Janesville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leo Runkle; a granddaughter, Hannah Menk; brothers-in-law, Ernie Menk, Archie Menk, Merril Swenson, and Donald Menk; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Darlene and Stan Wolf.
She was born Jan. 24, 1917 in Westbrook Township, Cottonwood County to Claire and Edith (Lundquist) Runkle. She graduated from Gaylord High School. She married Harvey Menk on May 14, 1941, at the home of her parents. They lived in St. Peter, Frost and Kiester. They moved to Mankato in 1956. She was a homemaker. She lived at the Mankato Lutheran Home since 1993. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the, Alzheimers Research Center, the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, or the Mankato Lutheran Home.

Debara 'Deb' Boyle, 43, of Redwood Falls, died Saturday, March 25, 2000 at Rice Memorial Hospital, Willmar.
Services are 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Redwood Falls, with burial in Morton City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday and 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church Tuesday.

Henry 'Bud' Schneider, 75, of Redwood Falls, died Saturday, March 25, 2000 at Redwood Falls Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Redwood Falls, with burial and full military honors in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bechyn.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls. There will be a prayer service 7:30 p.m. Monday. Visitation will continue 8:30-10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
