Bernard Scherer, 65, of Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, April, 8, 2000, at Rochester Methodist Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial and full military honors in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. today and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye. There will be a parish prayer service 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Dave DeLaughter of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Sandy and Mike Kollmann of Courtland, Patsy and Kurt Kramin of Renville, Sharon and Kurt Larson of Hanska, Doreen and Steve Tyler of Sleepy Eye, and Linda Bassett of Hinckley; son, James of Milwaukee, Wis.; stepsons, Todd and Geri Dreier of Waconia, Scott and Joan Dreier of Apple Valley, and Jeff and Marlene Dreier of Elbow Lake; 22 grandchildren; sisters, Mary and husband George Lux of Sleepy Eye, and Erna Scherer of Sleepy Eye; and sister-in-law, Cecilia Scherer of Sleepy Eye.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Emma; grandson, Zachary; granddaughter Miranda; and brother, Leo.
He was born Aug. 8, 1934, in Sleepy Eye, to Joseph and Stephanie (Schulgel) Scherer. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1951. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean conflict from Feb. 24, 1954 until Feb. 23, 1957. He married Emma Jones on June 11, 1956, in Sleepy Eye. They lived in Eden Township, rural Sleepy Eye. He worked for Standard Oil, Farm Bureau Insurance, and was an owner of the Evan Cafe and Bernie and Gale's Upholstery. He married Lois Walling on Oct. 18, 1996, in Redwood Falls. He retired from farming in 1998. He was a ditch inspector for Brown County. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye Lions, Sleepy Eye Golf Club, VFW, and he served on the Sleepy Eye School Board.
Mabel Perne, 91, of Hector, died Saturday, April 8, 2000 at Glencoe Area Health Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hector, with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Hughes Funeral Home, Hector, and continues one hour prior to services at the church Wednesday.
She is survived by daughters, Joanne Perne of Hopkins, and Barbara Smith and husband Andy of Chaska; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, John Rice of Willmar; sisters, Orma Pederson of Hector, Bertha Pederson of Hector, and Cora Woll of Cokato; three sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Emma Rice; husband, Joseph; daughter, Delores Johnson and husband Kermit; grandchildren, Gary and Karen Johnson; sisters, Ida Rice and Elsie Anderson; and brothers, Leonard, Hebert, and Ernest.
She was born Dec. 17, 1908, in Melville Township, Renville County, to John H. and Emma (Neubauer) Rice. She attended rural school. She married Joseph Frank Perne on Oct. 5, 1944, in Hector. They moved to California for a short time, and then returned to Hector to care of her father. She did house cleaning and worked for Green Giant. She moved to Glencoe Area Health Center Long Term Care in February 1999.
Audrey Krueger, 80, of Sleepy Eye, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital, Mankato.
Private family services will be Friday, with burial in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye.
She is survived by her husband, Frederick; sons, Frederick and wife Linda of CleElum, Wash., and Harold of Sleepy Eye; two grandsons; and three great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents; aunts and uncles.
She was born Nov. 23, 1919, in Minneapolis, to Ernest F. and Blanche (Abrahamson) Roesner. She married Frederick A. Krueger on Oct. 26, 1938, in Lafayette. The couple lived in Sleepy Eye. She was bookkeeper at Krueger Electric for 40 years.
Maxine Kelly, 84, of Lamberton, died Monday, March 10, 2000, at Valley View Manor, Lamberton.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Sturm Funeral Home, Lamberton.
She is survived by her children, JoAnn and husband Harley Weaver of Babbitt, Clair and wife Vivian of Lucan, and Mark of Walnut Grove; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Theao and wife Dorothy Yancy of Dover, Del.; and sisters-in-law, Delores Yancy of Rosemount, Fran Yancy of Des Moines, Viola Kelly of Fairmont. Lucille Kelly and Violet Kelly of Bemidji.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom; brothers, Lester and Wilbur; sons, Clayton and James; and grandson Tim.
She was born Dec. 11, 1915, in Ellsworth, Iowa, to John and Jessie (Lakin) Yancy. She attended school in Ellsworth, later moving to Trimont, where she graduated from high school in 1935. She married Clyde "Tom" Kelly on Feb. 6, 1937, in Estherville, Iowa, where they lived for a short time before moving to Fairmont. They later moved to Bemidji, where they lived until returning to the Dunnell area after World War II. In 1954, they moved to Truman, where they farmed until moving to a farm near Walnut Grove in 1965. She moved to the Grove Apartments in Walnut Grove in April 1990. She worked as a cook at Lakeview Nursing Home, Fairmont; Chalet Club, Marshall; and Mediterranean Club, Tracy. In April 1992, she moved to Valley View Nursing Home, Lamberton. She was a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church.
Phyllis Klennert, 63, of Brownton, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at Fairview University Medical Center, Minneapolis.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Brownton, with burial in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Hector.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church, and will continue Wednesday one hour prior to services.
Arrangements are with Raymond D. Hughes Funeral Home, Hector.
Della Cook, 65, of rural Comfrey, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her brothers, Donald, and Mel and wife Marie, all of Comfrey; nine nieces and nephews and their spouses; 16 grandnieces and grandnephews; special friends, Minnie Sperl and Arlene Cook; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was born March 20, 1935, in Mulligan Township, Brown County, to George T. and Barbara (Nowak) Cook. She grew up on the family farm. She lived with her brother Duke until 1996 when she moved to St. John Lutheran Home, Springfield.
Lorena Eilefson, 99, of Walnut Grove, died Monday, April 10, 2000, at home.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Walnut Grove, with burial in St. Paul's Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-7 p.m. today at Jacobsen Funeral Home, Walnut Grove. There will be a prayer service at 4 p.m. today. Visitation will continue 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday.
She is survived by daughter, Elvern "Tudy" Will of Walnut Grove; granddaughters, Catherine Vaupel and husband Harold of Westbrook, and Patricia Christensen and husband Cedric of Milroy; four great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Marian Hart of Storden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; and three brothers.
She was born in Milan, Ill., to John and Sarah (Marshall) Hart. The family moved to the Walnut Grove area when she was four years old. She attended country school and Walnut Grove School until the eighth grade. She married John Steinle on Nov. 11, 1918 in Walnut Grove. She later married Clarence "Babe" Eilefson. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Walnut Grove.

Services are 1 p.m. today at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Brownton, with burial in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Hector.
Visitation is one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

She is survived by her children, Greg and wife Wendy of Hector, Brenda Benson and husband Tom of Hutchinson, and Brad of Buffalo Lake; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and grandson, Josh Schultz.
She was born June 3, 1936, in Hutchinson, to Sylvester and Sarah (Hagen) Reiner. She grew up in Brownton and graduated from Brownton High School in 1954. She studied cosmetology. She married Bruce Schultz on May 1, 1955, in Brownton. She married Ray Klennert in 1985 in Hutchinson. She lived in Buffalo Lake, Hill City, and Brownton. She worked as a beautician for 20 years, most recently at Cost Cutters, Hutchinson.
Gene Hoecke, 40, of Hector, died April 11, 2000, at the Talahi Care Center, St. Cloud.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, Hector, with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour before services Friday at the church.
Arrangements are handled by Hughes Funeral Home.
Rev. Henry L. Shogren, 94, of Phoenix, died March 18, 2000.
Services were held at Augustana Lutheran Church in Phoenix.
He is survived by daughters, Kathleen Anderson of Silver Spring, M.D., Carol Schlenker of Phoenix, Judith Lawrence of Phoenix; brother, Robert Sjogren of Lafayette, Minn.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine; brothers, Russell and Clifford; sisters, Lucille Lokensgard, Gladys Hanson and Florence Wagner.
He was a former pastor at Augustana Lutheran Church of Phoenix.
Ursula Bliss, 70, died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at Redwood Falls Hospital.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Seaforth, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the church, with a prayer service 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services Saturday.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; daughters, Vicki and husband Mike Johanneck of Redwood Falls, and Jody and husband Wayne Steffen of LeCenter; son, Tom of Redwood Falls; eight grandchildren; brother, Rolland Shemon of Wabasso; and sister Terry Nelson of Owatonna.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Albert Shemon; and sister, Irene Haen.
She was born Feb. 3, 1930, in Sheridan Township, Redwood County, to Steve and Theresa (Trost) Shemon. She graduated from Wabasso High School. She attended college in Minneapolis. She married Donald Bliss on Nov. 23, 1950, in Seaforth. The couple farmed in Sheridan Township. She worked for Farm Bureau as a bookkeeper, and at Control Data. She was clerk of Sheridan Township for 20 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she was active in C.C.W. and Catholic Aid.
