Arvied Dettman, 88, of Boyceville, Wis., died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at his home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Boyceville, Wis., with burial in the Mound Cemetery in Downing, Wis.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Everts Funeral Home, Glenwood City, Wis. and at the church one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by two sons, Leon of Plano, Ill. and Garry of Boyceville; a daughter, Audrey and husband Paul Broste of New Ulm; 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eleanor in 1989, son Rodney in 1998, two brothers, Alvin and Walter, and one sister, Edna.
He was born October 30, 1911 in Forest Township, Wis. to Louie and Lydia (Schultz) Dettman. He married Eleanor Diller on August 29, 1934, in Forest, Wis. They moved to the Boyceville area where Arvied worked as a milk hauler and later at the Drier plant besides farming. He was also a volunteer firefighter for many years and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Boyceville.

Mabel Hinderman, 83, of Sleepy Eye, died Friday, April 21, 2000 at Sleepy Eye Care Center.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fairfax, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye, and will continue one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
She is survived by her husband Ervin; sons, Cliff of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Gary and wife Janet of Sleepy Eye, and Douglas and wife Mavis of Sleepy Eye; five grandchildren; a sister Phyllis and husband Clarence Buboltz of Fairfax; a brother Lyle Nelson of New Ulm; and a sister-in-law Christine Nelson of Sleepy Eye.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Earl Nelson; and sister a Lucille Buboltz.
She was born July 8, 1916 in Eden Township, rural Morgan, to Nels and Mary (Discher) Nelson. She grew up and attended country schools in Redwood and Brown Counties near Morgan. She married Ervin Hinderman on Sept. 21, 1935 in Fairfax. The couple lived in Home Township, Brown County, where they lived and farmed for many years. She worked at Del Monte, Sleepy Eye, for 20 years. They retired in 1975 and remained on the farm until 1998, when they moved to Sleepy Eye. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Fairfax.

LeRoy "Roy" Grunst, 76, of Nicollet, died Saturday, April 22, 2000 at the Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato, of cancer.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet, with burial in the church Cemetery, rural Nicollet. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the Nicollet American Legion Post 510.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, Nicollet, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Grunst, of Nicollet; daughters, Joy Hanel and husband Richard of North Mankato, Jane Gappa and husband, Barry, of rural Nicollet; grandchildren, Shannon Zebro and husband Matthew of Mankato, Lexi Anderson of Tempe, Ariz., and Alex Gappa and Cady Gappa, both of rural Nicollet; step-grandchildren, Jeremy Hanel and wife Brenda of North Mankato, Dawn Stanek and husband Kullen of Apple Valley; step great grandchildren, Kelsey and Sarah Stanek, both of Apple Valley; brothers Virgil "Dood" Grunst, and Edward Grunst and wife Sandy, all of Nicollet; sisters, Bern Gronholz and husband, Robert, and Mary Etta Kastens and husband, Roger, all of Nicollet; sisters-in-law, Ruby Grunst of New Ulm, and Arlene Stejskol of Shakopee; and by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, and a sister.
He was born May 26, 1923, in Enterprise Township, Alpha, to Edward and Grace (Hite) Grunst. The family moved to Nicollet in 1936. He had served with the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He married Dorothy Lueth on Oct. 6, 1946, at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nicollet. He was a welder for various companies for over forth-five years. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post 510, Nicollet, and a past member of the Nicollet Fire Department where he had served as a fireman for twenty-eight years. He enjoyed mowing lawn for the Nicollet Public Schools.

Donald "Donnie" Reinhart, 72, of rural Gibbon, died Saturday April 22, 2000 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Willibrords Catholic Church, Gibbon, with burial in the church Cemetery, rural Gibbon. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Veterans Organization.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, Gibbon and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine, of rural Gibbon; daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Bruce Kellogg of Litchfield, LuAnn and Michael Schiller of Hutchinson, Jayne Reinhart, and Jody and Steve Dummer of New Ulm, Nancie and Jim Carlson of Lafayette, and Darla and Robert Jepma of Montevideo; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and JuliAnn Reinahrt of New Ulm, Patrick and Juli Reinhart, and Peter and Becky Reinhart, all of Gibbon; 21 grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Pete Kockelmann of Fairfax; and brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Kathleen Reinhart of Fairfax.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step father, Francis Bushard; and a son in infancy.
He was born Dec. 23, 1927, in New Ulm, to Peter and Emma (Schaus) Reinhart. He attended school in Fairfax. He married Elaine Berle on Oct. 6, 1949, at St. Willibrords Catholic Church, Gibbon. He served two years in the Army Air Force. He later farmed in Nicollet County and Sibley County. He was a member of St. Willibrords Catholic Church in Gibbon, the Knights of Columbus Council 1625 in Fairfax, and the Gibbon Lions Club.

Harris Johnson, 78, of St. Peter, died Friday, April 21, 2000.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Catholic Church, St. Peter, with burial in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Klein Funeral Home, St. Peter, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Memorials are preferred.
He is survived by his wife Louise; sons, John and wife Joan of St. Cloud, David of St. Peter, Ronald and wife Dayna of St. Peter, Bradley and wife Lisa of Mankato, and Wayne of St. Peter; 11 grandchildren; and sisters, Audrey and husband Floyd Boucher, Shirley and husband Glenn Jacobsen, and Elain and husband Kenneth DeZeeuw, all of St. Peter.

Richard Carlson, 65, 1515 Center St., died Monday, April 24, 2000, at home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ the King Lutheran Church, New Ulm. Burial with full military honors conducted by the New Ulm veterans organizations will be in New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Firle Funeral Home, New Ulm, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society, or Leiomyosarcoma Research.

Richard 'Dick' Carlson, 65, 1515 Center Street, died Monday, April 24, 2000, at his home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ the King Lutheran Church, New Ulm. Burial with full military honors by New Ulm veterans organizations will follow in the Soldiers Rest section of the City Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Firle Funeral Home and one hour before services Thursday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara of New Ulm; daughters, Deb and husband Roger Fortwengler of Bloomington; Kathy Jones of Corinth, Miss.; Tricia and husband Jeff Rickman of Adamsville, Tenn.; son, Richard and life Leslie of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren, a great-grandson; brother, Roger and Ellen of Sioux Falls, S.D.; brothers-in-law, Leslie and wife Lynn Hutchins of Port Royal, S.C.; John and Mary Hutchins of Exeter, N.H.; Richard and Susan Hutchins of Seabrook, N.H.; nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter, Brandy Jones.
He was born June 8, 1934, in Tracy to Fred and Margaret (Peterson) Carlson. He attended school in Walnut Grove. He served in the Air Force from 1953 to 1957. He married Barbara Hutchins in Portsmouth, N.H. He moved to New Ulm in 1959 and worked for nearly 41 years as an auto body repairman for Chuck Spaeth Ford. He was a member of Turner Hall and the American Legion.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or Leiomyosarcoma Research.

Melvin Hewett, 79, or Redwood Falls, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at Redwood Falls Hospital.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Church of Christ, Redwood Falls, with burial in the city cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today, and 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; daughters, Pauline Couch and husband Keith of Gering, Neb., Katherine Williams and husband Robert of Riverside, Calif., Ardis Kearney and husband Keith of Clarinda, Iowa, and Joyce Marlow and husband Johnny of Redwood Falls; son, Edward of Redwood Falls; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Evelyn Dahlberg of Redwood Falls and Mary Lou Lipke of Hutchinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Lester and Gail.
He was born May 24, 1920, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, to Edward and Vera (Nellis) Hewett. He moved with his family to Redwood Falls, where he attended school. He married Marjorie Christenson on April 20, 1943, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He worked for the Redwood Falls School District for five years and the City of Redwood Falls Public Utilities for 26 years, before moving to Kearney, Neb. in 1977, where he worked for Kearney Schools. In March 1992, they returned to Redwood Falls. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a former member of Countryside Christian Church, Kearney. He was a deacon at both churches.

John Sallstrom, 76, of Winthrop, died Monday, April 24, 2000, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, at First Lutheran Church, Winthrop, with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery with full military honors by the Winthrop Honor Guard.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-9 a.m. Thursday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop, and at the church, one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by his wife, Delpha of Winthrop; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Rand Evans of Edina; Carol and Joe Stinar of St. Anthony Park; sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Mary of Burnsville and Kevin and Susan of Winthrop; nine grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Barbara of Winthrop and Ray and Margaret of Winthrop; brother-in-law, Merton Johnson of Winthrop; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Edith Johnson.
He was born Dec. 18, 1923, in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, to Axel and Ruth (Monson) Sallstrom. He attended District 56 country school. He graduated from Gibbon High School in 1941. He entered the U.S. Army on Feb. 14, 1946, serving in occupied Japan. He worked in Gen. Douglas MacArthur's office, and he was discharged on April 28, 1947. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor of science degree in animal husbandry. He married Delpha Evert on June 17, 1950, in Gaylord. They lived in Winthrop until 1953 when they moved to a farm in Cornish Township, Sibley County. They retired in 1993 and moved to Winthrop. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Winthrop, serving on the council and building committee. He was a member of VFW Post 4078 and Winthrop American Legion. He served on the Minnesota Beef Council and Gibbon Farmers Elevator Board. He was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.

Cyril Jenniges, 74, of Wabasso, died Monday, April 24, 2000, in Springfield.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mathias Catholic Church, Wanda, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 8:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. There will be a parish rosary service 7 p.m. at the church.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; son, Keith and wife Vicki of Mound; daughters, Kathy and husband Steve Anderson of Burnsville, Karla and husband Robert Peterson of Lamberton; five grandchildren; sisters, Anna Evans of Redwood Falls, and Trudy Struckmann of Minneapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marcella Altermatt, Mathilda Evans, Marian Jenniges and a sister in infancy; brothers, Aloysius, Edmund, Mathias, Leonard, Gilbert, and Roman.
He was born Oct. 25, 1925, in Willow Lake Township to Mathias and Anna (Turbes) Jenniges. He grew up on the family farm and attended school at Wanda Public School. He married Phyllis E. Peterson on June 22, 1957 in Wanda. They farmed in Willow Lake Township,. He became a resident of Valley View Manor three weeks ago. He was a member of St. Mathias Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters and National Catholic Society of Foresters.
